SKIN CARE

genre. fluff. warnings. kissing. pairing. kangmin x reader. wc. 589. a/n. i got this idea from this post by @verivery-incorrect and rly wanted to turn it into a fic!!

It was a nice sunny afternoon, not too cold, not too hot. You and Kangmin liked to spend days off at home, in each other's company, but not actively together. You were both lying down on your bed, Kangmin scrolling through his phone, your nose buried in a book. It was peaceful and quiet. You liked these moments with your boyfriend. Even if you didn’t say anything, just having him next to you made any activity one hundred times better.

The feeling of a soft kiss pressed to your cheek was enough to pull your attention away from the book you were reading. You looked to your left at the obvious culprit, but you found him scrolling through his phone as if nothing had happened. You smiled and went back to reading, choosing to ignore the fluttery feeling that developed in your stomach from the mere gesture.

It was peaceful in the room again and you read another 2 pages in silence.

Until you felt another soft kiss landing on your cheek.

You looked over again, quick enough to catch the slight smile on Kangmin’s face. There was no way he could keep pretending as if nothing happened now that you had caught him, yet he continued typing on his phone as if he wasn’t even aware that you were lying next to him.

“Why do you keep kissing my cheek?” You asked, your eyes going back to the page of text, scanning the paragraphs to find where you were. You heard Kangmin shift to his side and presumably turn off his phone. You could see him now lying on his side and looking at you through your peripheral vision.

You looked back at him, maintaining eye contact for a few seconds, silently watching to see who would break out into a smile first. It ended up being you, Kangmin following suit a second later. He leaned in a bit and pressed another, longer kiss in the same spot before answering your question.

“Skin care.”

You immediately smiled at his response. Kangmin always had the cutest explanations to everything he did. The stuffed animal was clearly lonely, and that was why he had to carry it around everywhere. The salt and pepper always had to be put on eggs together because they were a couple— you couldn’t have one without the other.

His little explanations weren’t even the tip of the iceberg for how Kangmin’s brain worked, but you loved to find out the more time you spent with him. And each time you just felt yourself falling deeper and deeper.

You both giggled as he continued to press kisses all over your face, continuing the delicate “skin care” that your skin so clearly needed. It felt nice to have his lips on your skin. His touch was gentle, as was everything about Kangmin. The kisses were light and fleeting, but still long enough to cause butterflies to erupt in your tummy.

He was about to press another kiss to your forehead when you stopped him with a finger resting against his lips.

“I didn’t get this spot yet, though.” He whispered, smiling lovingly. You could feel his minty breath fanning over your face as he was still so close to you.

“It’s your turn.” You countered, pressing your first soft kiss to his cheek with an airy laugh. Suddenly, the tables were turned, and you were the one giving the kisses, and Kangmin the one receiving them— butterflies forming in his stomach and his heart racing just like you.

You were trying your best to stay quiet and not let out a sound. You didn’t want to wake up your boyfriend who was sleeping soundly next to you, and he was a light sleeper. But the sharp pain of your cramps was making that a difficult task and you couldn’t stop a small whimper from leaving your mouth.

You clutched your stomach tighter, trying to put pressure on it or squish a pillow over it to see if it would somehow subdue the pain, but nothing ever worked. You curled up into an even tighter ball on the bed, breathing steadily as the pain pounded in your stomach repeatedly. There was no way you would be able to get to sleep tonight.

Another gasp escaped your lips and you scrunched up your face in a wince because you knew there was no chance your boyfriend wasn’t going to wake up after that.

And, sure enough, a gentle arm wrapped around your waist, and you relaxed a little as soon as there was skin-to-skin contact between you two.

“Is the pain that bad?” He mumbled, and you knew he was frowning and feeling awful about it.

You shook your head, “I’m fine. Don’t worry, baby.”

He hugged you closer to him, warm breath hitting your neck as he snuggled into the crook of it, “You can’t fool me, Y/n. You’re a terrible liar.” He whispered and smiled.

“I’m sorry.”

“Why are you sorry? You’re the one in pain so I should be the one sorry.” He said.

“It’s not like you caused this pain… And I woke you up. I’m sorry.” You turned, now facing him, your noses almost touching. He looked at you with soft loving eyes as his hand still rested on your stomach, providing some small comfort.

“Shh…” Kangmin lifted his free hand, finger reaching out to be placed over your mouth, “Do you want a heat pack?” You nodded slowly, wide eyes squinting into an eye smile and your lips curving up at your boyfriend’s caring actions. Even if it was almost 3 am, he was still ready to get you whatever you needed for the pain.

He came back quickly with a heat pack and some pain medication. His hair was all messy from sleep, and he looked so cosy in his soft pyjamas, but you couldn’t mistake the tiredness in his face, and it made you feel horrible all over again.

He sat back down on the bed, passing over the heat pack. You placed one of the pills in your mouth and Kangmin quickly passed you some water. “Thank you,” You mumbled with slightly pink cheeks. This wasn’t the first time this had happened, and you still found it a bit embarrassing. If only your cramps weren’t this bad, you wouldn’t have to bother your boyfriend with it.

There was a pause as Kangmin slid in between the sheets again and you situated the heat pack and found a comfortable position again. You curled up again, facing away from your boyfriend as embarrassment still burned in your face.

Kangmin sighed softly, grabbing one of your hands and pulling you back to his chest. Your face turned a brighter shade of red from his actions.

“You know I don’t mind, right?” He whispered into your ear, kissing it right after.

“Huh?”

“Taking care of you. I don’t mind.” He hugged you a bit tighter, the warmth from his body warming you up as well, “You take care of me all the time, so it’s the least I can do.”

“I don’t take care of you at 3 am, though.” You argued, though most of it went into your pillow as you still refused to turn around.

Kangmin laughed, “But you would. If I was in pain in the middle of the night, you would take care of me.” You stayed silent. He was right. Of course he was right. Kangmin was almost always right.

“You’re embarrassed, aren’t you? That’s why you won’t show me your pretty face?” He asked, coaxing you to turn around, and you finally did. He kissed your forehead, then your nose and cheeks, and finally your lips.

“Get some sleep, baby, I’m sure you got less than I did.” He said. You nodded and closed your eyes, letting the tiredness wash over you fully. Kangmin stroked your hair and hugged you close so you could feel his heartbeat. He started singing the acoustic version of ‘Super Special’ in a whisper and you smiled.

“Baby, you’re my super special, the moment I saw you, baby, you’re my super special, tiki tum, tiki ta, you hit my heart…” Kangmin trailed off once he knew you had fallen asleep, finding the courage to say the words he didn’t have the courage to say to you while you were awake. At least, not yet.

“I love you.”
