#WomenWednesday 🦸‍♀️ || Sending all women #puravida vibes on this #internationalwomensday 💝 photo from a recent trip to magical and beautiful Costa Rica. . I would like to express my deepest gratitude to so many women in my life who’ve I’ve always looked up to including my Lola, who raised us; my aunt @josephinebongayon who continues to inspire with her work with terminally ill children; my sister @paulapurpera a military veteran, who shows that you can be strong and courageous without having to lose your femininity; my mentors @potri_ranka_manisny @mercedes_cano_law @nanadeleplanque ; my beautiful friends(you know who you are!), my amazing clients at @legaleaseus and trusted colleagues in the legal field - I am so blessed to be connected to each and everyone of you! . On this special day, I would also like to share my project, #diyosanetwork which is a community of immigrant women in New York City who empower themselves and others through sharing their skills & talents with each other and with others. #Diyosa is the Philippine indigenous word for “goddess.” This project was inspired by and formed to honor my mother, Emma, who passed away in 2021 from a rare form of cancer. Emma was a trailblazer. Like many immigrant women, she left her family in her home country for a better life. In the United States, she was an administrator and educator in the private and public sectors. She wore many hats and took on extra jobs so that we would not feel the hardships in life and to provide for those in need back in the Philippines. Sadly, she did not practice much self-care until after she retired in 2018 after serving others for almost 50 years and she died from cholangiocarcinoma, a cancer of the bile ducts, 9 months after her diagnosis. We talked about my trailblazing mom, who paved the way, leaving her family, a successful career and everything else behind, so that we may realize our own American Dream. 💕🙏💕 • "When you're young, you don't like to think about your parents as individual people, right? You just think, "oh, yeah, whatever. She's my mom." Thinking back about what she's had to go through for us to be where we are at this point is tremendous: she had to leave her family behind to give them a better life. And she succeeded because we're here now. I can't see myself, at this stage, without her. My mom is a role model for me, both her and my grandmother. They're the two strongest women I've known all my life. I always try to emulate them. I am not who I am without those two, and my mom especially, being such a trailblazer. 2/2/22 ❄️💧Water speaks to us in the form of crystals 💧❄️ || This is one of my favorite images in Dr. Masaru Emoto’s Water Crystal Oracle card deck. Dr. Emoto is a Doctor of Alternative Medicine in his native Japan. Through his work and research, he discovered that water molecules are affected by our thoughts, words, and feelings. Using high-speed photography, Dr. Emoto revealed how crystals formed in frozen water change when specific concentrated thoughts are directed toward them. He found that water which has been exposed to loving words or vibrations (such as beautiful music) showed brilliant, complex patterns, but water exposed to negative words or vibrations produced incomplete and asymmetric patterns. My mom continues to shine in heaven ✨😇✨ A little over a week ago, my mom, Emma, succumbed to her 9-month long battle with stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer of the bile ducts. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
