Day 21/100.

Next, I want to deep-clean my cupboards. There's just stuff that has gotten lost and forlorn in the black hole of the back for years.

I'm going to start with the pantry cabinet. Starting from the top and working my way down. What long-forgotten things will we find?

The stuff at the front is mostly not forgotten.

Prescription pills I take daily, flour I use at least a couple of times a week, rapid test kit we need to keep handy (but does it need to be in the kitchen? Maybe not), some spices I use frequently. But the children's vitamins box is empty. Why is it still here instead of in the recycling? And yes, two bottles of calcium supplement because it was a two-for-one thing. But maybe I can put them all in one bottle so I can throw the other one away.

Pared it down. I really want to get a proper flour container one day.

A bit further into the cupboard, things are becoming more obscure.

Two bottles of children's vitamins that my kid doesn't like. Kids vitamins are too expensive to throw in the garbage. I have to see if anyone wants them.

Two containers of a few children's vitamins sorted by colour. These are REALLY OLD. Garbage and wash out the containers.

A novelty Vache Qui Rit cheese container. I don't need this. Nobody needs this.

Some prescription pill bottles. One is empty. One is empty except for a sachet of that stuff that absorbs moisture. One has a pill in it that is pulverized beyond recognition. Who knows what it is. Garbage/recycling for this trio.

A can of tuna. Best before date June 23, 2020. Oh dear.

Oh, no. This box has always been a catch-all for medication. Looks like a mess.

Whoa. Very vintage essential oils. Two of opium (?), one eucalyptus, one lavender. They remind me of my high school besty's bedroom, because I think she's the one who gave these to me all those years ago. They still smell nice.

Well, perhaps I ought to use them from time to time. Not sure how. Pot pourri?

So besides the essential oils, the box mainly contained expired prescription medication that were for some short-term issues that have long been resolved. I threw them all out. Here's what I'm left with.

Basically five boxes of allergy medication, but three of them are nearly empty. I'll be needing these in about another month or so when we start getting into allergy season.

Still some mystery items waaay at the back but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

i have this "alter ego" that only exists in my head where essentially i am a fat sloppy drunk old fisherman with no loved ones living in misery & isolation & i often imagine myself as him especially in moments of patheticness
