At some point your dogma runs into facts that don't agree with it, and you have to make a choice. Do you want the truth or the cool-sounding quote.
E.g. "If voting changed anything, they'd make it illegal," while true, also basically describes what Republicans have been doing for years. They've gone to extraordinary lengths to suppress votes, discount votes, make it as hard as possible to vote, discourage voting through subterfuge, and are now allowing state legislatures to disregard the results entirely.
What do you do with this information? I know I can't seriously claim that Republicans aren't scared to death of people voting, and that their rule doesn't depend on disenfranchisement. In the present historical context, if you live in the so-called United States, voting is one part of resisting theocratic oligarchy. It can't be the only part, it's not a permanent solution, and there are a host of other things to resist and dismantle, but it's important.

With Chloé being mayor in the name of "restoring democracy" (which she couldn't even pronounce), it reminds me a bit of US politics and how they claim to "restore democracy."
In Collusion, Chloé (illegally somehow) steps into the mayoral role so she can remain immune from the consequences that are yet to come for her, stating that she is "The People" and throwing around the word "democracy" (which she still could not pronounce at the end while giving a state address (or something similar to that).
In the US, Republicans claim to "protect the kids" while taking away gender affirming care, criminalizing ab0rti0ns, banning drag, banning "w0ke" books (in other words, books about Black history, stories about LGBTQ+ individuals, etc.) and so much more. Yet, they do not ban guns, which actually kill kids, and talk about raising the voting age so Gen Z does not vote yet. This is democracy under attack.
But 934, what does US politics have to do with Chloé being mayor and vice versa?
Power. The power the elite have. Chloé's family is rich, and she used their past influence (alongside Gabriel's wealth and technology, and Lila/Cèrise's manipulative skills), and this is how US politicians (and politicians in general) use their manipulative skills and wealth to claim and keep power as they attach the populous with policies, chipping away at whatever power marginalized communities have left.
Not to mention, adult politicians act like a 15 year old brat like Chloé when they don't get their way

I know I'm always banging on about the US Republican Party's commitment to abolishing public education. But I just made a mental connection today that never occurred to me before.
By blocking any attempt at gun reform, the Republican Party continues to make our public schools more and more dangerous. There could easily come a point where parents will be so afraid to send their children to school that they won't protest too much when the schools are no longer there.

The Putin Party
Randy Newman, “Putin” (2016) […] Dark Matter contained a re-recorded version of his Emmy award-winning song ‘It’s a Jungle Out There’, which was used as the theme song for the television series Monk. The album tells countless humorous tales. However, one of its most memorable cuts is the track ‘Putin’, which sees Newman sarcastically attack the Russian president.  The song pokes fun at Putin’s…

I wish this was a parody. He actually said that. He said presidents have absolute immunity and the only method to hold a president accountable for an "official act" is via a guilty verdict in an impeachment trial.
And it's even worse than "congress being cool with it". Congress can be almost entirely against it and it'll still pass (according to Trump's logic) because to achieve a guilty verdict in an impeachment trial requires a 2/3 majority vote in the senate.
So really it only takes a little over a third of the senate, which is 34 senators, to be cool with it, in order to make presidentially ordered assassination of political rivals legal (again, according to Trump).
And even worse. These 34 senators could be representing as few as 17 states and as few as 24 million people, or only 7.5% of the country.
The Court of Appeals rejected this interpretation outright, but the fact that Trump chose to present this argument and continues to spew it in his rallies is a major concern.
I know I'm preaching to the choir talking about it on Tumblr, but Trump wants to be a dictator. And the Republican Party are supporting him in this effort.
Abolish the Republican Party. They're not a legitimate political party anymore. They're a hostile fascist entity trying to overthrow America's democracy and they need to be dealt with accordingly.

What a 51-49 Senate majority means for Democrats | CNN Politics
What a 51-49 Senate majority means for Democrats | CNN Politics
CNN  —  Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock will win Georgia’s Senate runoff, CNN projects, allowing Democrats to secure a slim 51-49 majority over Republicans in the chamber. Democrats will have significant governing advantages compared to the 50-50 split in the current Congress, during which a power-sharing agreement gives Republicans considerable leverage over Democrats despite being in the…

The fundamental problem, Meijer said, is that Republicans are offering no plans for improving lives and making the future a more promising place. Instead, the party continues to rely on grievance and fear—and misinformation—to scare voters into their ranks.

Traitor(s)
Traitor by Dennis Potter. Source: Internet Archive Traitor First broadcast in 1981, this Hidden Treasure play by Dennis Potter stars Denholm Elliott as Harris and Ian Ogilvy as James. It has not been heard for over 40 years. In a dingy flat in Moscow, he sits alone — a traitor to his family, his friends, his colleagues. They also voted to block to student debt relief, cut tax breaks and subsidies for renewable energy, added work requirements for financial assistance, take back COVID relief money from states, and boost fossil fuel production.
And a very insidious cap on government spending that only grows 1% every year (less than the rate of inflation). Meaning that every year would necessarily require even more cuts.
The worst part is that they made it all a condition for the federal government to pay its debt. Their plan being that if Biden doesn't capitulate to their demands, the US government goes into default, which would cause a global financial crisis.
Oh, and don't think that the 4 Republicans who voted Nay are reasonable. They're voted against it because this bill didn't go far enough for them.
The good news is that the Democrats control the Senate and White House, so this bill won't get enacted.
TL;DR: House Republicans passed an extorsion bill that threatens to blow up the world economy if Biden doesn't capitulate to their demands to hurt poor Americans and make climate change worse.
Abolish the Republican Party!

If any other person in history had incited a violent insurrection against the United States, they'd have been labeled a traitor, thrown in prison, and have absolutely no chance of a political career. But when Trump does it, Republicans make him their candidate for president.
Somewhere along the line, Republican politicians took a hard right turn, straight into insanity —found Republican voters already there waiting for them— and decided that batshit crazy is now their brand.
