Hi guys! Since a lot of people will be heading back soon, and the start of the semester is right around the corner, I figured I’d compile a list of things that I learned my freshman year to hopefully make the transition a little less rocky for you! These are all things that I definitely wish I’d known before my first year, and that I’ll keep in mind going into this year.
Tumblr media
Packing/Dorm Stuff
- If you’re in contact with your roommate, decide who’s bringing what of the “big stuff” (fridge, microwave, vacuum, etc) (if you’re able to, having a full-size vacuum is a GODSEND)
-Depending on how often you’ll be coming back home, pack LIGHTLY - especially with food stuff like paper plates/napkins/snacks -wait until you have a good idea of what your dining situation is like and what you can stuff in your bag from the dining hall (our cafeteria was buffet style and had stands with chips so I grabbed one or two bags every time I went
-You will not need nearly as much stuff as you think. Your room is probably already pretty small unless you're lucky and got a suite/apartment-style dorm setup. I promise you do NOT need to bring ten pillows for your bed. 90% of the time they will end up on the floor. I promise.
- Definitely loft or at least raise your bed if you can, you can fit SO MUCH stuff under there it’s insane
- You will probably have like, zero shelf space, so once you have a good idea of your room and what you’re bringing, one of those little box shelf cube things from IKEA or Target are great to put under our bed or somewhere else in the room
- Bring tons of the command strips/hooks
- You will probably change your room layout multiple times with your roommate before you get it right lol
-POWER STRIPS AND EXTENSION CORDS are a MUST. Keep in mind though, that you can’t plug your fridge into one or you’ll blow a fuse and everyone on your floor will be out to kill you
- If you have a private shower, bleach the hell out of it before you go in there with bare feet, if not, shower shoes!!!
Tumblr media
School/Student Life
-Print out your syllabus before the first day of classes, some professors expect you to have them - they’re usually either on your student site (like Canvas or Schoology)
- Get to class ten min early, especially the first day, so you get a good spot
- Sit in the first or second row if you can if it’s a classroom, and within the first four if it’s a lecture hall
- If you have a chunk of time where you have nothing to do, deadass just wander around. Literally no one cares, you’re paying to go there, you’re allowed to be on campus. (Yes this was something I had to get over lol.)
-You will get out of your first class and have a moment of “Omg what the hell do I do now?” Find a cafe. Go to the library. Go get lunch or coffee or a snack somewhere. Do NOT GO BACK TO YOUR ROOM. It’s going to be very very very tempting but also boring in the long run.
- The first week there’s usually a lot of activities to welcome the new freshmen, food trucks, yard games, guest entertainers, (we had a magician the first week) bingo, etc. Go to some of these! You never know who you might meet and there’s free food a lot of the time 👀
- Join clubs! Our campus has a student organization fair the first week where all of our clubs have their own booth and stuff, idk if you’ll have something like that but 🤷🏻‍♀️ I literally joined Model UN because I wanted the pretty sticky pad set and it ended up being amazing - join a bunch of clubs that interest you - if you end up not liking them there’s usually no obligation to stay on
- Once a week or so has passed, you’ll start to find a natural schedule that works for you. For me, that meant after getting out of my 10am I went for a quick brunch/light lunch at the cafeteria or local cafe, and studied/hung out there until my next class, and then went to any clubs I had that evening. Try and stick to that schedule once you find it, familiarity/routines are so comforting sometimes, especially for me
- You might not make friends right away. That’s fine. My friend group didn’t click until late March. I had people I was friends with, yes, I talked to them in class but it took a hot second to find the people that I knew I would be friends with for a long while yet.
- Stay on top of your grades! Each professor might have a slightly different method of grading; my English professor only gave grades on our papers BUT he was also grading us on participation and stuff, but it wouldn’t be posted on our student site - so you were kind of left guessing sometimes. Some professors put everything on the student site, and some only put a few things on. If this happens you can usually send them an email requesting your current grade in the class
- Stating the obvious here but if you’re invited to a party, or just hanging out with friends there is NEVER any obligation to drink, and if there is, you’re hanging with the wrong people. But if you do decide to, make sure it’s with people you trust and that it’s not too far from your residence hall/have someone walk back with you
-For the love of god do NOT BUY YOUR TEXTBOOKS IN ADVANCE, I cannot emphasize the amount of times when I bought a $100 textbook, got to class, and the professor a) offered a cheaper option or b) sent a PDF link for the book
-Rent at all possible times, unless the textbook is for your major

My Advice for Adults With ADHD
When you are an adult with ADHD, it can be difficult to find advice online that isn't aimed at parents who have children with ADHD, or wasn’t written by someone who actually has ADHD. This has been a frustration of mine for many years, so I finally sat myself down and wrote out a list of my favorite ways to manage my ADHD as an adult. For background, I am a 23 year old woman who was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 8, and I am currently in college getting a BA in history with plans to remain in academia as a full-time historian. The following list is what I have developed throughout high school and university to be successful.
*Disclaimer- All of the following tips are things that I developed on my own through years of experience. If any of the following advice has been stated by others previously it is purely a coincidence.
Remembering Things
Don’t bother with a traditional planner. As most people with ADHD know, they rarely work for us. A much better option is a small whiteboard/dry erase calendar or even just post-it notes stuck on the wall where you can write your reminders. These are things that we can put in our direct line of sight where we can clearly see them, unlike a planner that can be put down and forgotten about.
When you need to remember to do something, set an alarm on your phone immediately for when you need to start it or have it done by. This is much more effective than using your phone calendar or a reminder app because it’s a lot harder to miss or ignore an alarm going off than it is to miss a regular notification. I recommend using the most obnoxious alarm tone possible.
Carry a small notepad with you. Whenever you think of something that you need to remember to do or have a thought that you don’t want to forget, write it down immediately. Don’t assume that you’ll remember it later. It’s also beneficial to do this because getting the thought out of your mind and onto paper can prevent the thought from distracting you. This can also be done in your phone’s notes app if you are the kind of person that uses the notes app often.
Getting Stuff Done
Keep your to-do lists small and manageable. Having any more than 5 things on a to-do list is likely going to be more overwhelming than helpful, so keep it short. Decide what things need to be completed most urgently and what can wait.
Surprisingly simple actions can help fight procrastination and help initiate tasks. If you have been putting something off, the quick actions of standing up, closing your laptop, turning off the TV, or opening up Google Docs can help set you in motion and build the inertia you need to get it over with. (This is the tip I used to finally get myself to type up this list)
This might seem small, but thinking about how nice and relieved you’ll feel when it’s finally done has been extremely helpful for me.
For When You’re Feeling Overwhelmed
When your thoughts get to be too much and you feel overwhelmed, do a brain dump. Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and do a stream of consciousness free write of whatever is on your mind at the time. It’s important to offload your thoughts now and then in order to clear them out. This is something my high school writing teacher had us do to boost creativity, but I found that it also helped clear my mind.
Another way I like to do this is by writing a list of everything I’m thinking about at the time. My brain is always trying to think about 15 different topics at once, so I’ll go into my notes app and list them all out. Getting them out of my brain and into a visible list is very calming.
Get moving. When I start to feel anxious and overwhelmed I will often stop what I’m doing and move around my house or office for a few minutes, especially if I’ve been sitting down for a long time. This interrupts my thoughts and gets rid of stagnant energy around me, and I’ll almost always feel better afterwards.
Studying
Take breaks now and then, but keep them around 10-15 minutes. It’s easy to lose steam and not be able to finish what you are working on if you take breaks that are too long. You can schedule your breaks if you want to, but I personally prefer to take a break whenever it feels right for my mind and body.
Try adding background noise if you are studying, writing an essay, or working on any other project. This can give your brain the stimulation that it needs to stay focused. Putting on music is the most popular way to do this. I personally like to put on a movie or show that I’ve already seen many times so I don’t get distracted by new information, but this might not work for everyone.
Try flexible seating. Not many people with ADHD are able to sit in a normal chair at a desk the way others can, so don’t be afraid to try something else. My “desk” is actually a coffee table that I sit on the floor in front of. When this starts to get uncomfortable I will switch to sitting on an exercise ball.
I hope you are able to find this list helpful. I may make a follow-up list if I think of anything else that I missed here.

Studying Tips from a Bad Student
Print out your syllabus.
Carry it with you.  Highlight readings when they are assigned and cross them off as you complete them.
Put in the dates of all your assignments the first day of class.  Make special note of overlapping assignments/exams.  3 midterms and 2 papers due during the same week?  Better to know 2 months in advance instead of 2 days.
Pick 1 office hour for each class that works with your schedule.
I never ever went to office hours before becoming an adult.  Honestly, I hate commuting, and I don’t like spending my free time on campus.  So if I’m going to attend tutorials or office hours, there better be a damn convenient time for me to go.
Pick one time for each professor that you feel like you don’t mind attending, and highlight/write down that information where it’s easily accessible to you.  Do this during the first week of classes.
If you can’t find a regular office hour time that works for you, immediately contact your prof or TA to ask how they feel about e-mailed questions or scheduled appointments for when you need help.  Once you hear back with their alternative, make note of it in that same accessible place so you know what your options are when you have questions.
Take notes by hand.
I type way faster than I can write, and I’m sure a lot of you are the same.  This is partly because your brain isn’t processing what you’re writing down in the same way as when you physically write it out. Trust me, it makes a difference.
Also, I found that if I handwrite notes, I am more likely to go back and look at them again later on.  What I like to do is write the notes out in class, and then review them either that night or the following day and highlight, bold things, doodle relevant icons, generally make them look pretty.  That way, you’re reviewing them but it’s also fun.  Spend some time before the semester starts to get a pen you like to write with, and maybe some coloured highlighters and post-it notes.  Interesting things are easier to keep looking at.
Don’t write out exactly what’s on the slide.
First off, if your professor isn’t the type to post slides before/after a lecture, ask if that is a possibility.  There isn’t always time to write everything down during lecture, so it helps if you are able to fill in the information you missed after class.  If you don’t want to ask in person, an email is usually okay.
Listen to what is being said in relation to the points on the slide.  Usually, what’s written on the slide doesn’t even make that much sense, because it’s only enough information for your professor to remember what they wanted to say.  Or it’s written in a way that is unclear to you, so you might want to word it differently so you understand it during review.
Once you get the main point of what you’re suppose to learn, write it down in your own words.  When studying, you can compare your own notes to the posted lecture slides.  See if they still make sense when compared to each other.  Flag things that don’t make sense, so you can ask for clarification during office hours.
Block time.
Plan time every day for school work, even if nothing is due.  It doesn’t have to be much.  Maybe 45 minutes on weekdays, and 2 hours on Saturdays and Sundays.**I’m taking 2 classes (and working 37 hours a week) right now, so obviously if you’re taking 8 classes you’ll need a little more than 45 minutes a day lmao.
Stick to it; hold it in high priority.  Avoid making plans during your blocked time as much as possible.  For example, if you have Saturdays blocked from 11am to 1pm, and your friend wants to have lunch at 12:30, ask to reschedule for after 1pm.  It might not shock you that this isn’t a deal breaker in most cases.
Plan leisure time.
Do your friends typically like to go out on Friday nights?  Do you like to play video games or watch a show during a certain time of the week?  Remove those time-slots from the equation (i.e. Friday from 8pm to Saturday at 11am no longer exist in your schedule).
Plan your blocked time around that.  That way, you never have to feel guilty about having fun during that time, because it wasn’t available for schoolwork in the first place. **obviously do this in moderation.  Don’t block off 10am-10pm every day for dicking around, or you won’t have time for anything else.
Plan to procrastinate.
If you are an avid procrastinator like me, plan time for it.  One thing I learned quickly about functioning as an adult is to plan everything.  E V E R Y T H I N G.  If you don’t plan for it, it’s either
a) not happening, or b) happening anyway and fucking up your whole schedule.
So start homework and assignments way early.  I was terrible at estimating time.  Things I thought would take me 25 minutes usually ended up taking me 2 hours.  Dinner plans I thought would end at 8pm ended up lasting until 10pm.  But only finishing 30% of what you planned to get done isn’t the end of the world when you started 2 weeks earlier than you normally would.  You have more blocked time tomorrow.   **don’t let this happen every day.  As I mentioned, your blocked time should take priority over everything else as a general rule.
Print off assignment criteria.
Nothing pisses me off like losing marks on technicalities.  The layout of your arguments wasn’t in the right order.  Your essay only hit 3 of the 5 points it was meant to.  You cited in MLA instead of APA format.  You were mean to include information from a list of specific sources, not ones that you found in the database yourself.  None of that is an indication of whether you understood the material or not.
So before you start,
print the criteria, and read it thoroughly.
Read it again, this time highlighting things you feel are important to hit.
Most importantly, keep it next to you any time you are working on your assignment.  Refer back to it often, especially if you feel stuck or run into an obstacle.
When you’re done, check off the highlighted instructions as you confirm that you’ve met them.

How to survive vet school: and I will memorize 500 pathogens then I will memorize 500 more
I hope you sang the title to the tune of “I would walk 500 miles” because that’s what I intended you to do. Also, sorry if it’s stuck in your head now. My bad.
Anyway... Picture this, you find yourself in lecture and the professor is rattling off the 1000′s of pathogens you need to know and all the little itty bitty details you need to know about them. Now what? Do I get the cue cards and try to cram them all in for the upcoming test or what?
As usual it depends on how you learn, but you should try to avoid cramming when you can (though not always possible).
I despise making and using cue cards so here are some tips I have for those courses that often require such tactics.
Organize pathogens into groups (e.g. DNA viruses, gram +/- bacteria, flies vs protists vs nematodes
Start from the bottom -- learn the common and general things (or rules) about the groups you've made (i.e nematode lifecycles, size of the viral family etc.) and know what falls in the group (e.g. herpesviridae is a large DNA virus family; staphylococcus is a gram + bacteria etc.)
Make sub-groups (e.g. intracellular gram+ bacteria vs extracellular gram + bacteria; herpes virus family vs parvoviridae family) -- then again learn the common/general/rules of these sub groups.
Continue to make more and more sub groups (w/in subgroups) --- learn the rules/common/general things about the subgroups.
Learn which pathogens fall in specific sub groups and once you have that down
Now you’re here -- Learn the important specifics or differences for individual pathogens
Do it again different ways e.g.sort pathogens based on species they effect --> body system they effect --> specific location in the body they effect
Once you’ve learnt your groups, build a chart and try to fill it our from memory
Write down lists of important categories (e.g. reportable diseases, zoonotic disease) and learn them!
Repetition is key in learning, but what I find is most helpful when faced with learning 10000 pathogens at a time is really to break it down into groups and focus on learning commonalities rather than the nitty gritty details of every single pathogen.
To me it’s a lot more helpful to know that intracellular pathogens generally produce chronic granulomatous lesions, with a cellular immune response, that are difficult to vaccinate and to treat with antibiotics (there are of course exceptions to every rule). Then go through my mental rolodex of bacteria I know are intracellular to come up with possible ddx’s. Then it is for me to memorize every single thing about every single intracellular pathogen.
Disclaimer: these are just tips/tricks that I found helpful to do for subjects like this. This method won't work for everyone but I just wanted to share some of the things that worked for me!

Transportation Talk: How Do I Get There?
Tumblr media
You’re here and you need to be there. We can help.
There are plenty of ways to get around campus, Cape Girardeau, and beyond, even if you don’t have your own vehicle.
Here are some suggestions:
1) The campus transit system: There are three shuttle routes dedicated to campus. One of the routes includes stops at the River Campus.
2) WINGS Off-Campus Shuttle: The When In Need Go Shuttle operates Friday evening through Sunday evening. It stops at several residence halls on campus, as well as a few apartment complexes. You can take it to locations in Cape Girardeau, including Target, Walmart, and West Park Mall.
3) Cape Girardeau County Transit: There are two options with Cape Girardeau County Transit (CTA): you can use their fixed-route service or their demand-response vehicles. The fixed-route consists of two bus routes within the City of Cape that makes stops at specific locations, including grocery stores and shopping areas. You can also use the demand-response vehicles which operate as a taxi service.
4) carGO: This local ride service was started by Southeast Missouri State alumni. You can use their app to request a ride or call in.
There are also plenty of options if you’re going a little further:
1) Cape Girardeau Regional Airport: You can board a flight in Cape Girardeau which will get you to Chicago, Illinois. From there, the possibilities are endless.
2) BART Shuttle: If you need to get to the airport in St. Louis, BART Shuttle is a great option. It’s a van transport service to and from the St. Louis Airport.
3) Amtrak: There are several Amtrak stations within driving distance of Cape Girardeau, including Poplar Bluff and St. Louis, Missouri.
And, don’t be afraid to ask a friend for a ride! Pro tip: if you have a friend that gives you lots of rides, it might be nice to offer them a little gas money from time to time.

The loud music that was blaring through the speakers of the night club almost drowned out the conversation your were having with your best friend, as the two of you sat at the crowded bar and watched various strangers dance to the rhythm of the beat on the even tighter packed dance floor.
Somehow, you had managed to shout loud enough for Jin to understand what you were saying, while you averted your disinterested gaze from one particularly drunk girl.
“I’m bored!” You stated, letting out a small sigh before taking another gulp of the drink that you were holding in your hand.
What was supposed to be a perfect day off turned out to be another unspectacular visit to an overcrowded night club. Usually, you weren’t interested in going out, especially to such an expensive place like this, but you simply wanted to blow off some of the steam that had been building up inside of your head from the harsh week that had just passed and dancing seemed to be like a good idea. After you saw the announcement that one of the most exciting clubs in your city had planned a night with music solely dedicated to your favorite genre you were unable to hold yourself back from attending such an event, especially not after Jin had declared that he would join you.
However, no matter how much you tried to convince yourself that this would be fun, you weren’t able to pull yourself from the stressful state of mind that you had been in for so long, making it harder than ever to just let yourself go for once.
Jin shot you a surprised look before wiggling with his eyebrows in anticipation. “Well, wanna dance? We’ve kind of been stuck at this bar forever now.” He asked you, but you shrugged him off with a slight scowl on your face.
“What, with you?” You teased him as a small smirk made its’ way onto your face.
Never in a million years would you admit to the crush that you had on the more than handsome man sitting next to you, so sarcasm and a few mocking remarks here and there were all you could rely on to hide the obvious blush that tinted your cheeks a bright pink color whenever he sometimes only so slightly flirted with you. Which he did – and you didn’t know whether it was a blessing or simply a curse – more often than necessary.
“In you wildest dreams.” You laughed, quickly downing the rest of your drink before nodding your head towards the bartender behind the busy counter to signal him that you needed a refill.
Your best friend clenched his chest in forged agony, pretending as if your words had hurt him deeply, but the sly smirk that had crept upon his face gave his little act away.
“Let’s play a game, then,” He suggested, cautiously eyeing your figure.
His deep gaze sent shivers down your spine, but his offer peeked at your curiosity, making you look at him with a raised brow in anticipation. “Which one?”
He rubbed his chin in playful thought, before answering, “Let’s see who can get five different phone numbers the fasted. No cheating allowed. You have to text the person and they have to answer you in time, otherwise it won’t count.” Your friend explained to you as a challenging smirk spread across his face.
Quickly letting the idea run through your head, you decided that it would be a good shift from the constant drinking and dancing and that maybe this stupid, little game would finally distract you from your worry-filled thoughts.
Nodding in agreement, you gave him an equally sly smirk, “Okay fine, but you have to start.”
“Give me twenty minutes, baby cakes.”
Jin headed off almost immediately, leaving you standing somehow lost alone at the bar as you tried to hide your burning cheeks that had turned bright red from the new pet name he had given you, while he began to approach various people, not caring whether it was a woman or man. You knew that your best friend was a huge flirt and had the unreal seeming ability to wrap both sexes around his fingers as if it was nothing.
A nasty sensation spread through your body as you watched Jin being his shameless self. No doubt, you were happy that he was such a social butterfly and that he was not afraid to show his feelings so openly, you just wished that it were you and not some random stranger that he was so invested in.
Jin came back to his previous spot in no time, tearing you from a less than uninteresting conversation you were pulled in with a rather drunk man who tried to impress you by showing you pictures of his expensive car. You peeked at your phone, noticing that only seventeen minutes had passed.
“I have all of them.” Jin grinned triumphantly while holding up his phone.
As you inspected the five different conversations, you didn’t notice the cold stare that your best friend shot towards the man who had just talked to you, making him hurriedly scurry away from the two of you.
“But not even twenty minutes have passed!” You whined, carefully handing him the phone back while pulling your lips into a small pout.
He simply shrugged his shoulders while sliding the device back into his pocket. “I know, I’m just that good.”
Rolling your eyes in annoyance, you tried to ignore the flutter of your heart as he flashed you another smile. “Stop bragging, dickhead. I’m going to beat you in no time.”
Slightly lifting your chin to show him that you were not defeated yet, Jin had pursed his lips in amusement as a small chuckle escaped from his lips. He patted your shoulder in playful sympathy before turning back to the crowd. “Don’t be jealous, Y/N.”
“I’m not jealous! I bet I can make it in less than fifteen minutes.” You challenged him, carefully shaking off his soft hand that still rested mockingly on your exposed shoulder.
“Fine.” Jin scoffed in return, catching your nervous gaze. “If you win, I’ll gift you one of my sweaters. I just know how much you love them.”
It should be a crime how often he managed to make you blush in just one night, but you were still incredibly pleased with his offer. “And what happens if you win?” You asked, raising an eyebrow in question.
His sudden movement took you by surprise, as he leaned closer towards you, his chest almost touching yours while his intense eyes lingered on yours. Another cocky grin spread across his face, making your ears turn just as red as your burning cheeks.
“Then I’ll get a kiss from you.” He suggested, making your eyes grow wide in shock.
“Fine.” You were finally able to choke out as you caught your breath again, not having noticed how you had held it. Taking a step back to remove yourself from the tense atmosphere that surrounded the two of you, you crossed your arms in front of your chest before raising an eyebrow in an equally cocky demeanor. “But don’t get your hopes too high, I’ll be back in no time.”
Not to waste another second, you almost instantaneously disappeared in the crowd, maybe more as an attempt to distract your burning body and mind from your best friends overly flirtatious behavior than to win the game which had taken an unexpected turn.
However, it took you no more than ten minutes to collect four numbers, and your chest swelled up with an unfamiliar mixture of pride and cockiness as you were almost able to taste the victory on the tip of your tongue. Your gaze met Jins’, his eyes growing wide as you held up four fingers to signal that you had almost completed the challenge.
As you confidently strut towards a guy and engaged him in a conversation about the great music they were playing on this specific night, you somehow felt somebody’s gaze burn into the back of your head. A quick look at the bar confirmed your suspicion, as you spotted your best friend staring at you with a newfound intensity, gripping tightly onto the drink in his hands as he watched your every move.
Unfortunately, the guy you were talking to also caught onto Jins’ stares, as he promptly stuttered that you weren’t his type before quickly walking away.
You were ready to curse your best friend out as you looked at the clock on your phone, which showed you that you had no more than a few minutes left. Slumping your shoulders in defeat you headed back to your best friend with a scowl on your face, taking the empty chair beside him.
It wasn’t that you didn’t want to kiss Jin – god, you really wanted to. However, the overly competitive part of you began to nag at your insides as you realized that you would lose. And that Jin would, from now on, none stop brag about his victory and mock you for your defeat.
“That wasn’t fair! You did this on purpose, looking like a jealous boyfriend so he would run away. Why would you scare that guy away like that?” You angrily huffed at him, as your heart began to flutter at your own words.
Your confusion only grew when Jin looked at you with seemingly genuine surprise. But the usually clear line of where his serious behavior stopped and his playfulness started was long gone, making you down one of the shots of vodka that the barkeeper offered you in annoyance as you waited for an answer.
Jin watched your sulking figure for a few seconds before letting out a small sigh and pulling a small piece of paper from his back pocket. “I’m sorry, Y/N. Listen, I’m sure he would’ve given you his number, just - just by the way he looked at you. So – “ He took a pen that laid on the counter of the bar and began to scribble a series of numbers onto it, letting the paper slide over to you as soon as he was done.
“Here’s one of the phone numbers I got today and I’m handing it over to you. I figured he’s real catch.”
You took the piece of paper in surprise, as you shot your best friend a stunned glance. “Thanks, I guess?”
As you suspiciously eyed the number written in Jins’ clean handwriting, you typed it into your phone and almost immediately send the stranger a short message in hopes that he would answer just in time. You still had a minute left, after all.
But as soon as you hit sent, the small feeling of euphoria was quickly crushed by Jin, who pulled his phone from his pocket while taking a short look at the bright screen.
“One of the girls texted me.” He simply stated, looking back at you with a smirk on his face. You tried to ignore the sting in your heart as best as possible which began to spread relentlessly through the rest of your chest, giving your best friend a small, reassuring smile.
“That’s great, you should text her back.” You encouraged him as you glimpsed at your own phone, signing at the missing message from the stranger that would seal your victory if he would just respond.
“You’re probably right, she’s pretty awesome.” Jin giggled before typing something into his phone and you were ready to smack him for his silly attitude while your heart simultaneously broke at the thought of him with someone else, but you held yourself back as a message popped up on your screen.
Furrowing your eyebrows in confusion you followed your friends expectant gaze that lingered on your phone before you opened the message that was sent from the strangers’ phone number which Jin had given you.
‘You’re awesome, baby cakes’
Looking back and forth between Jin and your phone, you finally put one and one together and snatched the device from his hands, only to confirm your suspicion.
“It’s your number! But, how?” You wondered, handing him the phone back.
Shrugging his shoulders with over the top cockiness, he gave you a triumphant smile. “It’s my work phone. But, you lost, nonetheless.”
As he stood up from his chair to scoot closer to you, you quickly held up your hand and wiggled your index finger from side to side. “Nuh-uh!”
The smirk on his face washed away almost instantly and was replaced with the same look of confusion that you had held just seconds ago as you showed him the messaged the two of you had exchanged with one another. “I won. You gave me the missing number and he – well, I mean you – still responded in time.” You explained to him.
Jin scoffed at your words before sitting back down onto his chair, telling the bartender to give out another round of shots. “Fine,” He mumbled, downing the drink in front of him in one short gulp.
“You’re cute when you’re angry, Jinnie.” You snickered as you caught onto his gaze. He had knotted his eyebrows in annoyance and gave you a childish pout.
“Am not.”
