We had an ugly sweater contest at my office. I offered to knit an ugly sweater beanie as the prize. It turned out to be a bit of a hit😅

Phantom seeing a Christmas (Yule?) tree for the first time and their eyes going so wide and pupils so dilated and he sits and stares at it for hours with the tip of their tongue poking out

When the spell finally breaks though he immediately tries to climb it and Mountain has to catch him midair when they try to pounce

What Mountain doesn’t see is Aurora slinking behind and up the tree using Phantom as a distraction so she can get the topper

Swiss sees her but decides to just sit and record instead of stopping her

‘Tis the season for Ugly Sweater competitions and I had a thought about the first years having a Ramshackle holiday party.

Sebek would seriously struggle with this. We know he takes pride in his appearance and strives to be well-groomed.

He also hates to lose.

The dilemma, the dilemma.

Ortho is doing his best to determine the parameters of such a subjective contest.

Ace is insulting Deuce who has a much uglier sweater than Ace does (Deuce and Epel finally got to use string lights on something). Jack’s sweater has a Christmas cactus. Grim is uninterested because there is no prize and he’s too busy scarfing down fruitcake.

Silver stops by Ramshackle looking for Sebek (because reasons) but accidentally wins because he is adorned with various sprigs of holly and bits of yarn and tinsel that the birds and squirrels have bestowed upon him on his way to Ramshackle. Or while he dozed under a tree somewhere. Or both.

Regardless, he beats Sebek at something with minimal effort (again!).

Now, for all the talk about the Mandela effect and if it was Berenstain or Berenstein, etc., here's a case where a beloved childhood memory actually HAS been manipulated and changed with multiple, wildly different versions out there that is rarely discussed. Seriously, look it up. The Rankin Bass Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer has about as many different edits and versions as the Star Wars Special Editions. It's kind of wild. When this eventually gets colored for the book collections, I am SO gonna make my sweater blue and then change it to green mid-way through. IYKYK. ;)

hello this is a bit from near the start of my christmas fic (it’s preceded by 600 words of fighting? why have i started a christmas fic with fighting? how festive)

Buck’s been avoiding him for most of this 48-hour. Which is fine, because Eddie’s still pissed about the way he ran back into that house on the verge of a flashover for that little girl’s alarmingly geriatric greyhound, but sucks, because Eddie and Chris are leaving for ten days of Christmas holidays in El Paso tomorrow morning. Without Buck. So every minute Buck about-turns and ducks behind the rig like maybe if he can’t see Eddie, there’s no way Eddie can see his long-ass legs poking out from under, is one less minute Eddie gets to have him this year. Eddie’d kissed him behind the engine, soot-stained and grubby after delivering the skinny dog safely to her owner, before stepping back and shoving him in the chest. “As if Chris doesn’t have enough parental trauma associated with Christmas-time,” he’d hissed. “What the fuck would I have told him?” Buck had scowled back, face one giant smudge of ash when he replied, “Don’t worry, I’d have had plenty of time to heal up before I saw you next year.” And Eddie didn’t know what to say to that, because he asked Buck to come to Texas with them, of course he fucking did, but Buck said no, over and over, because he was going to spend Christmas with Maddie and Chim and Jee. That’s not stopped him from acting incredibly weird about it. Of course I wanna spend the holidays with my sister, Eds, Christmas has always been our thing, he’d say, and in the next breath snipe, yeah, well, it’s not like you could be gone for any longer than you already are. It’s driving Eddie up the fucking wall, because he doesn’t know what Buck wants and all Eddie wants is to make Buck feel happy and loved during a time of year that’s notoriously difficult for people who come from unhappy families, but he can’t do anything unless Buck tells him what’s got his sweet overthinking brain in this miserable tangle.
