Ladies and Gentlemen, I am here to inform you that WE HAVE BEEN ROBBED.

At the end of Twilight Princess, Midna reveals her true form. And it looks like this:

Which is fine and good. It's a pretty universally beloved design, and I even have found ways to enjoy it.

However.

We must then take into account that literally EVERY. OTHER. TWILI. LOOKS. LIKE. THIS:

Now. That's not to say there aren't more humanoid Twili, such as Zant. But NOTHING on Midna's level- she's basically just a tall lady with blue skin. She doesn't even have Twili proportions.

BUT.

THAT WAS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE.

I PRESENT:

Yes, thank you, I shall be taking it, this is how I shall be drawing True Form Midna from now on.

OKAY but I MEAN. She's still clearly BEAUTIFUL without sacrificing what makes her Twili. One of my biggest pet peeves about Twilight Princess (a game that I have VERY FEW complaints about) is that Midna's only Twili feature is her blue skin and like. Maybe her clothing. But other than that she's just a super tall Hylian woman. But Twili would, realistically, have vastly different beauty standards from Hylians because THEY. LOOK. DIFFERENT.

So this means a lot to me and it UPSETS me that this was not our in-game design.

🥺🥺😆! Thank you so much! This was honestly one of the nicest asks I have ever received. I am not lying when I say my eyes were watering and I nearly squealed (despite being on public transport at the time!)

So... I've never really thought about my art process much, but to try and explain/ explore it, I recorded a time-lapse of a drawing of Midna I was doing.

So, the way I draw is quite paint-y, which is my favourite way to draw digitally, and I use primarily the oil paint brush for the painting, with pen and more defined brushes - round mixing brush or turnip pen as an example - for bits I want to add on top (eg, eyes and jewellery). More recently, I've been using a pencil tool (like pencil or charcoal tools) to pop lines over the image to define it a bit more.

I would advise - as I did not do here! - to choose where the lighting is coming from, because it results in a far more coherent image, but I rarely do that... 😅

Trying to figure out the planes of the face was a massive help to me artistically, so referencing images from Arcane and stuff like that, where the parts of the face are really emphasised has been useful when trying to learn how to do the paint-y style.

For backgrounds, I am ordinarily a plain colour/ suggestion of a setting with the subject of the image as the main focus.

Sometimes, as I did with this one, I use a layer of black to point the attention to one particularly area. I liked the eyes, and wanted to emphasise them most.

I've never drawn Midna before, hence the sketches at the start trying to get comfortable with her vibe!

Playing Twilight Princess for the first time, so a collection of thoughts while I play, spoilers probably:

- Does this man have a bed??? I've gone through his house twice where does he sleep, am I just blind?? Twilight sleeps on the floor apparently

- Twi wrestling with goats and herding them is giving me life. ALSO YOU CAN PET THEM!! :DDD

- Had my brightness set too low, fought that one plant thingy at the entrance to the cave, accidently mistook Collins stick for what the plant dropped and promptly had a stroke because 'OH MY GOD IT ATE HIM WHAT NO THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT DID THEY JUST KILL OFF THAT KID THIS SOON THEY COULDN'T HAVE RIGHT?' Then walked forward, discovered the pitch black cave and plant drop, then had to take a moment to fathom my own stupidity

- The game is taking away my sword and I don't like it, only bad things will come of this

- Called it

- Why don't we talk about Twi GETTING GRABBED BY THE THROAT AND DRAGGED INTO THE OTHER DIMENSION OH MY GOD?? AND THEN BEING FORCEFULLY TRANSFORMED???? FUCKING HELL THIS POOR GUY

lu modern au (i’m open to name suggestions ㅠㅠ i suck at naming things)

biological brothers:

- time is 27 years old and engaged to malon

- warriors is 25 years old

- twilight is 23 years old (maybe dating minda?)

- sky just turned 21 years old and is dating sun

adopted brothers:

- hyrule is 18 and the half brother of the twins (different moms)

- wild is 17 and the older twin

- legend is 17 and the younger twin (he hates this)

then for four and wind i’m not sure yet, i’m open with one of them being bio and one adopted or both adopted, not sure yet. maybe wind will be adopted and still be bio siblings with aryll? not sure if i’ll include her because i haven’t played wind waker yet and don’t wanna characterize her wrong (nintendo please put twilight princess and wind waker on the switch)

Twilight for my Pokémon AU! Been seeing other people make Pokémon AUs, which is great because I love them. Twilight here has been posing for the camera for 30 minutes :) I’ve haven’t been able to draw Twi’s work form yet, but it’s a shiny Dusk form Lycanroc, hence the blue coat. People wanted Epona to be a Mudsdale, so I made her one but adjusted the colors and hair to match her normal horse self. She also gets a Luxury Ball, as well as the Cosmog, and those are the only two Pokémon he keeps in balls. The rest are just on his farm. Anyways, Lore (and the reason why a Cosmog is here) under the cut.

Okay so mostly everything from Twilight Princess’s story is the same. I intend to keep everyone’s story mostly the same, with changes here and there to account for the Pokémon. For here, the Twilight Realm can be accessed via Ultra Space, with the Mirror of Twilight being part of Necrozma’s body or something. Maybe it replaces or is just similar to Ultra Megalopolis. They both have blue skinned people. The Twilight invasion had a lot of Ultra Beasts scurrying about. Midna got turned into an Ultra Beast instead of an imp by the Fused Shadow, and Twilight got cursed into a shiny Dusk Lycanroc.

Cue Mystery Dungeon-type vibes. Kinda, lol. Also, Rockruffs and Lycanrocs are not at all native or even around in Hyrule at this point, and with all the Ultra Beasts, it’s very reasonable that most people are scared of Wolfie.

After Minda shattered the Mirror of Twilight, Twilight was devastated, it was hard for him to move on and return back to his former life. Some days after, he found an odd little Pokémon being attacked by other Pokémon. He saved the odd fellow of course, the shiny (I like shines okay) Cosmog that I drew up there. Their name is Nova. Twilight had an odd feeling that Nova could be the ticket to seeing Minda again, no matter how slim the odds would be. However they are already past level 20 and still hasn’t evolved or has been able to do anything but Teleport, Splash, and Supersonic(it’s an anime only move). Rare candy are hard to find and very expensive, so it’s been a very tedious process. Once Twilight meets the other Links, however, Legend was able to reveal some-key word here, some-truths about the Cosmog. It needs to get to level 43 to evolve into its next form. Twilight wanted to cry right there and then before getting into a trade agreement with Leg, in which Leg would give him Rare Candies in exchange for bottle caps. Now Twi diligently searches for bottles caps for him. Also, Legend here got the nickname “Legend” here for a reason. I can’t wait to draw him. Maybe I should write something? Idk, I’ll try to get Twi’s wolf form done soon.

[Edit]SPOILERS FOR NEW UPDATE!

Okay but can I say how much I love this update? I wanna walk about so many things all at once from Time throwing a blanket over a sleeping (and clearly exhausted) Hyrule, to all the Twilight Princess stuff from Ilia, Zelda, Minda and Ganon, and the whole situation where the gang probably has caught on that Twilight is Time's descendent, but wanna focus on Time's and Warriors interaction here.

Warriors calling Time his actual name of "Link" shows that it's only ever used to grab their attention which Warriors was doing here. Time was clearly in his own head until being addressed by his name.

And then just...all of this. Warrior now knows why Time and Twilight always seemed so close with one another, its cause they are actual family. Not through just bonds like the rest of them, but by blood.

The comment Warrior makes, saying how many of them don't have family hurts a little. We know some do, such as Wind with his sister and grandma, and Time with Malon as his wife, but many of the boys don't have family to go back to.

And Warriors comment about Time should be proud, proud that he eventually will start is own family is a nice comment. Idk, I know what I want to say, but finding words is hard XD.

And Time thanking Warriors for being so reliable during this time is great also, shows that he really does trust him to take care of things when he himself probably isn't in the right state to help.
