30 Years of The X Files. Celebrate The Pilot / Find Some Love For The Revival
It’s the thirtieth anniversary of the first airing of The X Files pilot. I love seeing all the love and celebration. What I find annoying is every article says something like “despite the disappointing revival”. I actually think season 11 has some of the best episodes of the series. I have written about that in other blogs. So today I want to move away from the objective, critical question about the quality or story worthiness of season 10 and 11 and make the argument that, while the enthusiasm of the fandom was responsible for bringing back the series for two more seasons, the revival seasons were responsible for revitalizing the fandom. There are fans active in the fandom today who were not yet alive on September 10, 1993. There are folks who were alive and, for what ever reason, hadn’t watched the show before. In some cases fans first introduction to the series was the revival seasons and they liked it enough to go back and watch the first 200 episodes and two movies. There were forever fans, active in the day, who became reinvigorated and re-involved in the fandom. Then there were original fans of the show, like me, who had not been part of the FANDOM in the nineties and now, to greater or lesser degrees, are active. As we celebrate the thirtieth year since the pilot aired, let’s remember some love for the revival.
For me, since 2015, much like the original fandom members, I have made some of the closest friends of my life. I have tried my hand at fan fiction, wrote a disability focused blog on the X Files, ran a David Duchovny fan site for a while, was briefly “famous in the fandom”, was complemented by a star of my favorite series (who is now my favorite 21st Century author) about my own writing. I had an adventure that literally saved me during the most difficult time of my life. It’s not that my crazy life isn’t still crazy and sometimes f*cked up. It is. But I understand the importance of play in a way that I had forgotten for about twenty years. I started writing again. I give myself time daily to connect with my friends, to play silly games, to have long discussions about things that are “unnecessary”, to relax, to smile. I practice self care. I actually view life differently now.
In the year of 2020…. Well, I’m sure I’m not the only one who found some comfort that in the isolation, I had an online community still accessible to me.
Don’t tell me the revivals were disappointing. Without them, I might see an article about The 30th year and remember when. Now, because of the revival, The X Files is always part of my consciousness. So, while in in 1993 -at 32, The X Files was my favorite show, it didn’t shape me or form me like so many younger fans. In 2015, at 54, watching the series again in preparation for the revival and searching online for more information, being part of the fandom, helped me to reassess my values and reflect on how I want to age. Let’s start showing those seasons more love.
With love, I dedicate this blog to my original 😍4David Gals and all those who consider themselves 😍4 David today.

answering the question "are clancy and tyler the same person?" once and for all
SO.
clancy.
one of the biggest narrative sticking points for both the fandom at large as well as me specifically has been the question of whether tyler and clancy are the same person. many people point to clancy's letter description of the events of the jumpsuit music video as proof that they're not, while others point to the reference to the "out of body account of the rider in the river" as proof that they are. it definitely felt like a contradiction to me when i was first diving into the lore last year. and while i understood that this narrative was a) being told in a very non-traditional manner and b) extremely fluid and almost dreamlike in its overall structure, that contradiction still bothered me.
and then i had an epiphany: clancy wasn't tyler, and now he is. it's simple, really.
let me explain:
the theory that i had initially come up with to try to explain the discrepancy, at least to myself, was that clancy was tyler's avatar within the narrative (basically his self-insert). he was the "jumpsuit" that tyler covered himself with in order to exist in this fictional world. so while he may exist independently of clancy (such as in the trench trilogy), he also existed as clancy when needed (such as during the events of the SAI livestream and music videos). the distinction between the two still felt weirdly uhhh consistently inconsistent to me, but i figured either we were missing a piece or that that was just how the narrative was meant to feel.
but then!! yesterday!! i was doing research for the aforementioned blurryface = clancy theory, and i stumbled upon an interview with andrew donoho, who directed all the "lore" music videos for the band. i have no idea how like, well known this interview is amongst the fandom, but I've yet to see anyone refer to it when discussing the "is clancy tyler" conundrum, despite the fact that it includes some VERY interesting bits:
"The daunting part was, they built this entire world--everything from Clancy to Tyler's role, to the band's role, to different pieces of TRENCH, all this stuff--and I had to find a way to bite off a nine-minute piece of that.
"...imagine reading Lord of the Rings and they say, 'Okay, so don't make anything that's in the novels, but make something in this world, and it can only be nine minutes and it has to be profound and show everything and have every single tie into the the allegory and the metaphor of the album.' Like, great."
to me, this pretty conclusively confirms that the events of the trench trilogy were not meant to be clancy, but instead either a) tyler himself or b) yet another dema inhabitant who was just played by tyler.
to drive that point home even further, andrew goes on to describe the actual creation process for dmaorg:
The Clancy story was something really fun. The first meeting with everybody we were talking about like how we would market TRENCH and if there was a way to open up the world to the super-fans that wanted to know more with a story that wasn't Tyler’s story. Because, again, they built this world that was so rich.
welp. there it is. a story that wasn't Tyler's story. Clancy was intended to be just another inhabitant of Dema whose story would be told, not through the album, but purely through the posts on dmaorg.
there's also this quote from tyler the first time he was asked about clancy in an interview:
Clancy's uh... I've heard about him. But I don't-- I don't-- I know we're from the same place.
"heard about" but not met. all he knows is that they're from the same place (dema).
so that settles it then, right? Clancy ≠ Tyler. so glad we could clear that up!
...not quite.
because here's the thing. this is not tyler and josh's story. twenty one pilots is not tyler and josh's band.
it's ours. and so is this story.
don't just take my word for it, either:
TJ: This record is… They really did help write it. This thing wouldn't be breathing without them. They helped create this world, as well.
TJ: They are also building the world, like I said. We’re very… Not to come off as on that stalker level, but I do watch them. […]what does that fan that really understands and has tracked with me up until this point -- how is this hitting them? And the story builds from there, man.
TJ: Once the fans got a hold of it and started to digest it it even brought it more to life you know? Watching the story come to life. So I'm excited to dive back into it at some point.
now, here's where i came up short: i swear i read or listened to an interview where tyler specifically talks about making changes to the story based on fan interpretations/ideas, but i cannot for the life of me find it now. if anyone remembers when or where (or if!) he said that and has a link, it would be immensely appreciated. but regardless, it's safe to say that we are all active participants in the creation of this story.
and what is something that we consistently speculated about, pretty much right from the moment we met clancy?
that he and tyler were the same person.
now, note the timeline here: they had probably already created at least the first couple clancy letters by the time dmaorg went live + was found by fans; same with the original trilogy of music videos (donoho specifically mentioned working on the treatments while dmaorg was being updated--and mentioned not being told about the updates ahead of time!). the last letter went live july 18th, exactly one week after the release of the jumpsuit music video, and tbh it sounds like the end of clancy's story, especially based on the narrative arc of both the trilogy and the album as a whole. clancy has left dema, is both frightened and enthralled by trench, and wonders both where he's going and whether leaving in the first place might’ve been a mistake. i fully believe this was intended to be the end of clancy's story.
but again. tyler and his team aren't the only ones telling it.
so what happened after that post? well, the album was released, tyler and josh rejoined social media, they did a bunch of fan press conferences, and then they toured a bunch.
and what did the clique do? well, they created. i wasn't around during that time, but i've seen enough clique art and meta and musings to get an idea of what the reaction was. it was clear that a) people were FASCINATED by trench and dema and all the rest of it and also b) that people LOVED clancy. they speculated about his history, his future, his connection to tyler, his place in the overall narrative.
they brought him to life.
and so clancy lived. the next dmaorg update coincided with the chlorine music video and revealed that he had been "returned" to dema by keons. bleak and ambiguous as the letter may have been, it was proof that clancy's story wasn't over just yet.
tantalizingly, tyler also revealed in an interview in march 2019 (so after clancy's "resurrection" but obviously before the world imploded and their plans got waylaid) that the next album would feature “a character that hasn’t been talked about on any record yet that plays a huge role in the narrative". was this clancy, who tyler had already confirmed "wasn't on [trench]"? or was this someone completely new?
welp, who knows because almost exactly one year later covid happened and everything got thrown out the window.
...except then the LOC ARG happens and the clique finds an encoded message on tyler's TV that says Clancy Is Dead, and then the name of the next album + accompanying Feature Performance Event is released and it turns out to be an anagram which also states that Clancy Is Dead.
so was he?
well, the clique had learned a couple other things by that point, such as:
1) SAI is propaganda
2) the views and opinions expressed on [Scaled and Icy] are those of the Sacred Municipality of Dema
and of course,
3) we don't believe what's on TV
so like. yeah. "clancy is dead". sure he is. whatever the truth may be, at least the fans knew not to take anything coming from the band at that point at face value.
as far as the SAI era goes, i think the most important thing to note is that, while writing the album, tyler himself didn’t even know if it would be a continuation of the narrative or not:
TJ: So the question is, with shows off the table for the time being, does this mean we should hit pause on this narrative? Or do we somehow try to weave it into the narrative, which is not totally the intention? I’m not really sure which direction we’re gonna go yet.
personally, i suspect they were leaning more towards the “not” side of things. the livestream definitely takes place within the world of dema, but it’s not really a continuation of the story so much as a technicolour fever dream (appropriate for the height of a viral pandemic i guess lol). once again, like dmaorg, i believe tyler expected this album to be an accompaniment to the lore, but not itself part of the story.
i have a whole, like, interpretation and breakdown of the “story” of the livestream that i am not gonna get into here bc this thing is already a beast, but suffice it to say that the livestream reads a lot more like an in-universe retelling of tyler’s story than anything else. does it heavily feature imagery and themes from the lore? yeah, of course. but it exists in this weird wonderland-esque dreamspace anyway, so that makes sense to me.
anyway. yeah. livestream as originally intended = not part of the dema/trench storyline.
and yet. you know the clique and their tendency to take the things the band gives them and run with them. i definitely have seen lots of speculation regarding whether tyler is tyler in the livestream or clancy, and i can’t say that i blame people for wondering! again, the ambiguous nature of the narrative lends itself to multiple interpretations. do i think it was intended that way at first? nah. but once again, the clique made the story their own, and tyler had no choice but to try to keep up.
the next time we hear from clancy isn’t until almost a full year after the livestream–well, okay, we get another lil “clancy is dead” easter egg in the saturday music video, but that’s nothing we haven’t heard before (nice try though tyler). what really fascinates me is the almost complete 180 in terms of tone and narrative structure between the first two music videos + livestream—all of which were created before the fans had been introduced to the new era—and the saturday + the outside mvs, which would’ve been created after. in my opinion, that’s where we once again see the clique’s influence at work. suddenly the narrative is not only back but barreling forward. the SAI era is no longer a diversion but a true continuation.
with that return to form comes clancy’s first letter in over three years, and wouldn’t’cha know it, it perfectly describes the events of the livestream AND the saturday music video, thereby confirming that clancy is tyler after all! mystery solved! thank you for coming to my—
—except, wait. the evidence so clearly pointed to clancy not being tyler before. tyler himself even said so! what gives? was tyler lying then? is clancy lying now? is there some secret third option that no one has considered yet?
…well, yeah. there kind of is. the third option is that both have been and still are true, because as the story hasn’t just progressed, it’s changed. changed because it stopped existing just inside tyler’s head, or in the 60 page trench bible; it started existing out here, with us. it changed because we changed it. we reached our collective hands into the narrative and pulled our blorbo from the brink of oblivion and shoved him right back into the narrative where he belongs. when you really think about it, that makes us the ghost in the machine. the implications of that idea alone make my head spin.
anyway, we get one more letter from clancy the very next day to coincide with the release of the outside’s music video. in it, he contemplates the new psychokinetic power he’s received, how familiar it feels, and he begins to understand. he may be referring to the bishops and vialism, but as always, the narrative trappings of this world are merely a reflection of ours. because yes, you can look at it as clancy gaining the ability to possess “available vessels” using the antlers of a magical creature. but you can also look at it as the moment when tyler officially became clancy in the narrative using the power of creativity and imagination (and, of course, a little help from some friends), and in so doing, gained the power to maybe, finally, turn the tide in this seemingly endless internal war. after all, as the caption on this instagram post says:
this is a story about cycles, and trying to break them. about discerning between external and internal attacks. and about balance. a balance between being saved by a friend, and saving yourself.
in summary: i truly don’t believe clancy and tyler were ever intended to be the same person. what he was meant to be (a facet of tyler, a representative of the clique, or someone/something else entirely), i’m not sure, though of course i have my theories. honestly, i don’t believe clancy was meant to exist beyond the handful of letters we got from him in 2018. i believe the only reason he endured is because we willed him to. and now, as we head into the endgame of this incredible story we’ve all been creating together, this character (who was destined to die by his creator but was saved by his fans) has become perhaps the most important player on the board. and personally? i can’t wait to see what he becomes next.

While technically no longer a driver, James Hinchcliffe, known as Hinch, is still an integral part of the field. He remains friends with most of the drivers and serves as an informal liaison between them and the series, emailing drivers after each race asking for their concerns and forwarding them on to those in charge. Now in a broadcast role at NBC for Indycar and select IMSA races, Hinch does not rule out racing again, should the right opportunity arise. As of 2023, he has become a 'big F1 guy' commentating on select F1 races for F1TV
2019 ESPN Body Issue Controversy? Rumor has it that Arrow disapproved of James baring it all and this contributed to him being 'relieved of his duties.' James remained under contract for 2020, under which he was required to be with the team on race weekends and make sponsor appearances, but was free to pursue other opportunities. In 2020, Hinchcliffe joined NBC Sports as analyst for IndyCar races and select IMSA races when he did not enter as a driver. Read the ESPN article and view the pictures.
Hinch often referred to himself as the class clown of Indycar while he was a driver, bringing his slightly irreverent sense of humor out as often as he could. He’s a natural in front of a camera, entertaining fans throughout his whole career. He’s very intelligent and capable of explaining complex concepts in an easy to understand way. He’s got a sunny personality, is very personable and is almost always full of good humor and enthusiasm.

My brand new introduction!!
Tumblr media
Hi, my name is Misa. Misa as in like a god, the french meaning of the name I'm pretty sure.
Im 15 years old, I'm a Pisces, I'm autistic and I have adhd. My religion is paganism, and my favorite colors are pastels but I prefer pink. I'm also biracial, I'm half white and half black.
I'm very much interested in Japanese fashion like fairy kei, visual kei, gyaru, gurokawa, idk if this also counts but pastel goth. And Yamikawaii.
I'd say my favorite videogames are fnaf, I used to like yandere simulator but I don't anymore because of yandere Dev. I hate Yandere Dev. I also like Minecraft but the developer notch is a game dev from absolute hell. I also love any of the shin megami tensei games. I love any vocaloid videogame. I also love the game obey me shall we date, doki doki literature club, genshin impact, and sky. Some videogames I do wanna play is Diabolik lovers, hello kitty island adventure, bendy and the ink machine, style savvy, Stray, iron lung, and class of '09.
My favorite bands are the cure, depache mode, my chemical romance, pierce the veil, black veil brides, falling in reverse, twenty one pilots, fall out boy, Babymetal, bandmaid, Malice Mizer, Paramore, Cannibal corpse, and get scared. I don't really pay attention to band members so don't call me a fake fan. I just listen to the music.
By the way. I also love kpop. My favorite groups are bts, blackpink, new jeans, itzy, gidle, red velvet, nct and twice.
My favorite artists is Melanie Martinez, Tyler the creator, and Hatsune Miku.
I also love a ton of anime and manga as well as video games. I also love food too. It may change a lot depending on my mood.
Tumblr media
I'm gonna keep my dni list short and simple. If you use my tag hauntedkogal without my permission. That's an instant block.
If you give out movie spoilers, anime and manga spoilers or video games spoilers that's also an instant block. No one likes people who spoil stuff for them 💀.
Also besides that, here is my dni list. I don't want people who post irl gore, porn even if it's fictional, fetish accounts specifically. People who use self harm and post about that isn't just cutting but includes an eating disorder if it's not venting or people who trauma dump as well. And last but not least. People who are pedophiles, into incest, shame people for their sexuality and religion but get mad when theirs gets insulted back, people who proship, comship, and darkship come on my page and people who are abelist interacting with my content. I also don't want racists coming on this blog because this is a fashion, and cutesy blog where I post whatever I want. I'm all for free speech but take it somewhere else, not in my messages, and not in my comments section. I have boundaries. Then again it's the Internet. Most people would not gaf about what I said. But the point of my dni list is that I don't want weird people interacting with me.
Tumblr media
If you have any questions please let me know! Also. Don't be sexualizing me, being racist or plain up creepy if you message me thank you very much!

"The Hidden Gem"
-day-dreammmm
“If every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hotdogs!” – a line from a kid’s show that goes by the title, Steven Universe. I spent the whole month of august watching every episode and all the content it could provide me.
This Emmy-awarded animated show took place in a fictional town called Beach City, where ageless alien warriors known as the Crystal Gems live in an ancient beachside temple. They project female humanoid forms from the magical gemstones at the core of their being. The Crystal Gems protect the Earth from the disasters the Homeworld Gems caused centuries ago. They are then joined by Steven Universe. He is a hybrid son of a fellow Crystal gem known as Rose Quartz and a human named Greg Universe.
After they wrapped the show in January 2019, “Steven Universe: The Movie” follows in September. Telling a story of 16-year-old Steven all grown up and the Crystal gems making peace on earth, then suddenly gets interrupted by a gem stuck in the past, known as Spinel, that wanted to take revenge on Steven’s mother who left her alone. A twenty-episode epilogue series then began airing in December of 2019 titled “Steven Universe: Future”. It shows Steven facing the future ahead of him and the other characters. He deals with all the trauma he gained from his childhood but then receives help from the characters he all helped in the past.
When Rebecca Sugar, the creator of Steven Universe, executed a number of complex topics we face in our everyday life for the young audiences to easily understand from a different perspective with such care amazed me. This makes her creation well appreciated by both adults and kids. The storytelling makes it distinct from the usual kid’s show norm and even common adult shows. The characters were made to deal with stress in a clear-eyed way and then properly recover from different obstacles are seen in it. We get to see inclusive and mature queer representation as well when we found out one of the main characters, Garnet, was part of the LGBTQIA+ community. It had to be the boldest move for Sugar to make since we rarely get to see these themes in television before. A revolutionary show that plenty of audiences loved was made owing to this.
Everyone in the making of the show was called the “Crewniverse”, and as I watched the documentary of the movie I realized that it needed so much work and absolute love to put into it to be a whole. From writing and creating the storyboard, compositions of the songs, the new character designs, animation making, and reuniting the voice actors, to the finalization—their work began to mean even more to me.
For it to be an ongoing cartoon on the channel, Cartoon Network, their visuals needed to fit the standard that they had for recognizable characters, color combinations and details easy on the eyes, and more kid-friendly ideas for a plot. This contradicts the pilot episode they made that had a lot of detail in the background and the character designs, a darker color palette, and a much more terrifying monster to defeat. This ground-breaking style Rebecca preferred required changes. In the end, some elements still made it, and the pastel color palette worked beautifully with the story’s feel. I appreciated the countless little details they added to the backgrounds or their personalities in episodes that added context to what the life of the characters looked like. Every character felt real in the show and each had their own story.
The musical numbers and songs are one of the big parts the fans loved about the show. It added so much emphasis to the storyline. They couldn't stop getting stuck in my head since they were made to be catchy. It’s interesting how a different instrument was associated with the theme of each main character. In Garnet’s theme, we hear more bass and synth, Amethyst gets the drums, we hear the piano in Pearl’s songs and background, and chiptune if often paired with Steven.
Steven Universe may have its flaws too, such as the filler episodes that don’t gain anything from the plot, the shallow writing of some characters, the inadequate animation some might say, and the bad twists. These are well-known mistakes of the show that the producers had the potential to improve. Though this is what they have given us and if every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn’t have hotdogs! Meaning, that if everything was perfect we won’t enjoy it that much and that’s how life is. When you watch the first few episodes, it may just seem like continuous nonsense entertainment, but once you get interested in what they are up to and start even predicting what’s going to happen, it will be worth the watch.
It was said that Rebecca as the creator, held this show personally and partially based it on her experiences in real life. Teaching kids how love, both for others and ourselves, can help us persevere through life's hardest challenges is the show’s most lesson to the audience. With the complex storyline they have created, the lessons and the sense of reality still hits you. Having seen their adventures, and how they faced a variety of challenges, and experienced growth together made me feel too connected to its story. It’s a show that I will treasure as I get through life. As I end this, I will finally get to say farewell to this Steven Universe phase I got into. After all my research I have consumed enough, and I will recommend my friends to try and give it a watch too. This shall be my act of gratitude for showing me another perspective on being human.

I Will Always Go To War To Defend ROTS Against Gen X: Here’s Why
Sounds like a stupid title, right? Well. Since Kenobi aired, my father - A Gen Xer - has repeatedly said that it’s the best Star Wars content to release since the OT back in 80’s.
He hates the prequels. Like REALLY hates the prequels.
My 20 year old brother and I have this discussion with him frequently: The prequels are the backbone to making the OT make sense, and remain some of the best piece of Star Wars media beloved by the generation it’s meant for.
And yes, I’m specifically talking about Revenge of the Sith.
My dad has claimed for years that it was ruined by cheesy dialogue (the high ground vs low ground scene is one he mentions every single time we have this convo) as well as having less then adequate saber duels. I repeatedly inform him that Hayden and Ewan have, to date, the most iconic and probably the MOST difficult saber duel in the entire franchise.
He also says there’s a lot of plot holes. I, being the only one in my family who has consumed nearly every piece of major Star Wars media, agree with him. But all of those plot holes are filled by two things in particular. The book, and The Clone Wars.
The Revenge of the Sith novelization has got to be the best novel I’ve read of all of the Star Wars novels in my library. It’s art in word form.
Case in point, a few of my favorite quotes from it:
"The rain will come, and the seeds will sprout, for the dark is the soil in which they grow, and it is the clouds above them, and it waits behind the star that gives them light. The dark's patience is infinite. Eventually, even stars burn out."
“This is Obi-Wan Kenobi: A phenomenal pilot who doesn’t like to fly. A devastating warrior who’d rather not fight. A negotiator without peer who frankly prefers to sit alone in a quiet cave and meditate.”
And it makes the movie so much more poignant.
His biggest argument, however, is that Hayden Christensen was such a bad actor that it ruined it for him. I thus returned to inform him of how badly Hayden was harassed after the creation of ROTS and how hated the prequels were until the people who they were made for came of age and learned to appreciate them.
My best friend and I just had this conversation the other day: You really cannot enjoy Star Wars as a whole without consuming all of the available media. Yes, I too was skeptical of cartoons as someone in their early twenties, but TCW is not written for a child audience. It just happens to be animated with a mature story that fills in all the questions you inevitably have for the time between Episode 2 and 3.
The one thing that the shows do is add more depth that's not given in the movies. Depth through development of interpersonal character relationships (Anakin and Ahsoka from TCW clear into Twilight of the Apprentice) (Rex and Ahsoka) (Obi-Wan and Anakin) and enough of character development for those we know so little about - KANAN JARRUS - to make their inevitable deaths absolutely devastating.
That's what the shows succeed at. The movies, not so much.
I go on to tell my father that The Clone Wars (and begrudingly, Rebels..) fills in a lot of the questions he ends up having about plot holes and unanswered things during Episode 3. Like why Padme died, how Anakin ''fell so fast', etc.
He gets the same answer every single time.
"Your child's brain is a useless well of Star Wars knowledge obtained through the means of researching for fan fiction and now contains most answers to all Star Wars related questions you may have. No, Revenge of the Sith is not a bad movie, they just don't give you a satisfactory amount of information through the general story for you to be okay with watching it without complaining."
So, yeah. Gen Z, fight for your ROTS rights because that movie is phenomenal and needs to be defended against people who have only watched 9 movies and remain oblivious to the truth: You need to watch all Star Wars media to really grasp the overall story.
No matter how much you dislike it : )

rules: tag 9 people you want to get to know better.
tagged by: @thasminsbeach ;) that's a pizza wink
favorite time of year: Autumn. I love the leaves changing colors and the cooler weather. It's like taking a deep breath after the rush of Summer
comfort food: Mac and cheese but only if it's made with the shell noodles. Other mac and cheese is good too, but shell mac is just *chef's kiss* also I really love raw broccoli with my mom's homemade ranch dressing
do you collect something: Yes, my thoughts in journals lol. But no nothing you could be like, "Come look at my collection of [blank]."
favorite drink: In the morning i like to blend up decaf coffee with coconut oil (decaf bc i'm anxious enough as it is), peppermint tea in the evenings, dark and stormy for a mixed drink
favorite song: Hmmm, really not sure if i have an all time favorite song but Chlorine by Twenty One Pilots (also, i feel compelled to mention that i most often listen to songs for the vibe and not the lyrics, if i understand the lyrics and they're good that's just a bonus)
current favorite song: Soda by Nothing But Thieves (current meaning just today)
favorite fic: Look, i only really started reading fan fiction after New Year's when Eve of the Daleks aired so it's mostly Thasmin that I have to choose from and even that's hard because there's a lot of good ones, but currently too good to last by spoiltcreature and Hope by akira101
tagging: Hey, no pressure, just if you feel like it and haven't done it already :) @minikiwi @akira101 @wishbonedyke @scouttherobot @queerestqueertoeverqueer @swifttay99 @emryssstressed @little-house-of-lost-play @heydetc

the art teacher is so cool
the art teacher just turned on a video of Taylor Swift performing How You Get the Girl which has got to be one of my favorite Taylor songs.
now that most of my classes are over, i have a ton of free time now. what have i been doing with this free time? making a powerpoint explaining the entirety of the fnaf lore. my mom and i have been trying to heal our relationship. since she doesn't understand me (cliche ik, but true), i didn't share myself. she hates horror, i love it. but she said she was sad that she didn't even know what my interests are so that's why i'm making the powerpoint explaining the fnaf lore, so she can know me better even though i know she's going to hate all every part of fnaf. i was sick yesterday and my sister forgot to pick up one of our friends on the way to school because i wasn't there to remind her and now he has detention for being late to class lmao. Taylor Swift released her version of This Love last night and I'm in love with it it's SO GOOD.
today a friend texted me and asked me about people who have made impacts on me, real or fictional,. friends or strangers. some people have simply impacted me by making me feel less alone, making me feel seen. I didn't really include those people and my friend said i wasn't allowed to say Michael Afton smh. but i can't seem to stfu about him ever so i understand why she said that lmao. I'm totally not working on my third--wait maybe fourth--fanfic about him rn.... anyways here's a copy of what i told her about people who have impacted me:
tyler joseph and his band (twenty one pilots) convinced me not to 💀myself and gave me hope and showed me the importance of art, two of my teachers are like father figures to me so that's a huge impact on my personal growth, my middle school english teacher was the sweetest woman with the best roasts ever who i credit as making me into the writer i am today, lily sigh (iisuperwomanii) is a youtuber i grew up watching who made me laugh, feel safe, taught me important life lessons-through the years i watched her she basically raised me, when i was a little kid i loved ariel the little mermaid and she's the reason i'm a competitive swimmer today, gerard way is the lead singer of a band i used to be obsessed with and he encouraged me to be myself and showed me that i can survive hard times just like him, my favorite asmr creator, Gibi, comforted me and gave me rest when i was anxious and showed me it's okay to be into nerdy geek stuff no matter how old you are (she's like late 20s rn i think and her bedroom looks like a teen girl gamer room) my favorite twitch streamer nick smithyman never fails to make me laugh and interacts with his fans and makes a ton of your mom jokes. taylor swift taught me how to recover from breakups when i thought i never could and helped me express my feelings in a healthy way that no one else could and taught me that i can find happiness in myself, without needing anyone else.
i don't know if you can tell but i am most impacted through art more than anything else. i believe art is what makes us human. i could talk about the beauty of art and stories and storytelling forever. maybe i've already talked about here but idc. all of those things are what make us human. and when i say art i don't just mean visual art. music, poetry, filmmaking, video games, writing, architecture, speaking, dancing, anything that humans create is art and it tells a story. maybe it literally tells a story but even a story tells a story of the artist. whether the artist intended there to be a story or not, art tells a little story about who we are. art tells the story of an individual and tells a piece of a story of humanity. storytelling through art connects us all and that is why art of all kinds impacts people so strongly. this is why i want to work in a library, surrounded by my favorite kind of art that i can indulge in and best of all, share it with others.
maybe i just repeat myself over and over again but i'm okay with that.
