tw for end of the world/apocalypse fears and such
So anyway with new Israel-Hamas news AND American politics AND the ongoing Russia stuff, my latent “here are some of the signs of the coming-soon Three Days of Darkness, or the not-quite-end-times pre-end times, OR the actual end times” programming has arisen like a sleeper agent, and I’m just shouting “back, back!” while swiping at it with a broom
(This is extra frustrating because my rational brain is trying to focus on the humanitarian horrors and the realistic facts of things while the rest of my brain wants to wallow in selfish “AAHHHHH APOCALYPSE END TIMES FEAR AAAAAAAH” and I’m like Sit Down this is not about me Jesus Christ self. But deprogramming takes a long time and a lot of brain rewiring so I will try to donate to some aid groups and just Do My Best to rewire my neurons over time)
me: Our Lady said at Garabandal that the Great Warning and the Illumination of Conscience come sometime after—and maybe I’ve already been one of the ones to fall prey to the Antichrist’s solution to my problems being apostasy from Truth—the signs are only visible to those who have the eyes to see them and know what they’re looking for—nations will wage war and we’ve already had the explosion in Marian apparitions around the world, and they SAID most people would ignore the signs—they SAID it would be ultimate conflict in Israel and that Russia would rise up and wage war on the nations if it hadn’t been able to be fully converted through the power of the roasary, and China is banding together with Russia like was warned about years ago—
me, tiredly swinging a broom at my brain: girl you sound like a Qanon truther
(to anyone who is a practicing devout Roman Catholic and has problems with what I just typed out—yes I KNOW these aren’t in order and I KNOW not all of these are approved prophecies from official Church Mystics I KNOW. I’m not going for accuracy here I’m going for “represent a fraction of the swirling and out-of-order thoughts ping-ponging through my brain” okay. Go back to Catholic Fox News EWTN and leave me alone.)
Anyway. Going to read Dawkins and play with my dog and breathe and meditate and be so normal about this

muse: Torunn Thorsdóttir limit: 18+ only please, mutuals and non-mutuals   set: Earth-61616/Earth-555326 open to: other Marvel/comics muses, multifandom crossovers, ocs, whatever! triggers: apocalypse, parent death, grief
Tumblr media
The years since Torunn and her brothers defeated Ultron had been better, but they were far from easy. His androids were still everywhere, and no matter how many she cut down, there were always more. Ultron had also left the world in ruins, and a broken world was a vulnerable one. There were always new threats, some of them more insidious than a killer robot, and they worked tirelessly to make the world safer, even if there were times it felt like they slid back two steps for every one they took forward.
Losing Tony to old age had been the hardest blow, and not even all of his technology or Torunn's rage could save him. He was the truest father she'd ever known, but the loss only made her more determined to see his world put to rights. Cities were dangerous, the ones they hadn’t yet cleared still crawling with stray robots, but there were pockets of survivors too, people who had learned to hide or fight back or both. Seeing them safe gave her a measure of peace, and peace had always been difficult for Torunn to find.
Survivor wasn’t the first thing she thought when she saw them silhouetted against a crumbling building, but threat wasn't her immediate impression either. Night had fallen, and this part of the city was poorly lit. It was possible one of her team had looped around and gotten in front of her. Her sword was loose and unthreatening before her, but still ready in case she was wrong. Surviving an apocalypse hadn’t brought out the best in everyone. "Hello?" she called, her voice steady but cautious. The street was littered with the shells of decimated robots, but there could be more lurking out of sight.

muse: Ellie Rogers limit: 18+ only please, mutuals and non-mutuals   set: a coffee shop in New York City, Earth-616 open to: other Marvel/comics muses, multifandom crossovers, ocs, whatever! triggers: apocalypse, parent death, severe injury, grief
Tumblr media
Ellie Rogers should have been dead several times over. For all practical purposes, she was, a ghost passing through the multiverse without leaving much of a mark. She doubted there were many people in her home world who even remembered she'd existed. Her life on Earth-85826 had been largely joyless and a constant fight for survival under tyranny, but at least she'd had her dad. Her hero. Everyone's hero. That was the Captain America legacy, the one she still struggled to hold up. She wondered constantly if Steve would be proud of her now and quietly seethed against Zola and everyone like him that she would never get to ask.
She couldn't explain what happened when Ian's elevator exploded. She'd been barely conscious, and multiverse travel was well above her pay grade. She just knew he'd been gone, and she was somewhere else-- not her world, but not the one he'd been trying to get back to either. She understood that it was the symbiote that had saved her life, not even the inherited powers from the serum enough to protect her from that much damage. Its call hadn't been as strong cut off from Venom and the rest of the Vipers, and when she woke in a different ruined world, it seemed almost as disoriented as she was. It healed her, and she fought back against its hold over her mind, and it might have won eventually if the Next Avengers hadn't found her.
She'd lost a brother she'd barely had a chance to know when she lost Ian, but she found another in James, son of Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff. Ultron had killed the Avengers before he'd ever had a chance to know them, and their children had grown up and fought back for their world. It was a shared camaraderie, and between them--James, Torunn, Pym, and Azari--they'd helped her remove all traces of the symbiote from her body. Ellie didn't care if it had saved her life or could again. She just wanted to see it dead. It took longer to work out how to repair the elevator, months and then years with a new resistance, a new family, but it was the Rogers in her that never really settled.
She wanted to find Ian. She wanted to at least let him know she'd survived. If the people they couldn't save weighed on his conscience as much as they weighed on hers, he deserved to know that much. It had been weeks on Earth-616, and it was still utterly strange to her. It was the first unbroken world she'd ever been in, and everything about it baffled her, from the noise and color to the things they took for granted-- food, media, shelter, everything so readily available that it was breathtaking.
She kept mostly to the shadows in New York City while she looked for some sign that Ian had made it back to this world. Unlike Nomad, Captain America was everywhere here. In theory, she understood the concept of a Steve Rogers in every universe. In practice, she wasn't sure she wanted to meet someone who looked and sounded like her dad but wasn't. That didn't stop her from turning every time she heard the name though, this time on a television in a diner. Even seeing him at a distance in some news or history clip was enough to make her breath catch, the pain sharp. She turned abruptly away, accidentally knocking into someone with a mumbled apology. She wasn't going to find anything sitting in a coffee shop. It was best to keep moving.

post-apocalypse. In other words, the old world has ended. The devastating catastrophes have passed & living beings are regrouping, recovering, rebuilding.
there are new languages & new customs.
slowly, they begin to migrate, as their ancestors did. Once settlements are established, work can be put aside in exchange for recreation and the pursuit of “noble disciplines” such as history—archeology.
someone finds art in various mediums and many stories referencing a similar course of events. sometimes the stories start at different points in time, but the overall story remains the same: good fights evil, though both are flawed & both forces are led by supernatural forces. the stories are about found family, duty, and bravery.
these stories are spread through oral tradition & writing. centuries later, humans will have forgotten how those stories were discovered, and the veracity of them will be called into question. Are they to be believed as history or studied for philosophical purposes?
truly, Star Wars is an amazing phenomenon.

OPEN TO: any gender~     ↳ PLOT: the world seems like it’s ending (apocalypse au) and mina caught your muse having gone out on their own and managed to get injured so now she’s scolding them lovingly mina, 24, former head of emergency department
Tumblr media
“and what the hell were you thinking exactly?” mina asked in frustration grabbing the med kit. she was currently chewing the other out for making such a dumb decision trying to keep calm best she could. “you could have gotten killed out there in fact you’re lucky you didn’t! you’re lucky you got hurt by something that wasn't them!” she said making them take a seat as she now opens up the kit then turns back to asses their injuries. “what were you trying to accomplish by going out on your own and not even having told anyone? what if the patrol hadn’t found you?” she asked this time her tone more concerned rather then angry.

I woke up and apparently the moon was gonna hit the earth, but everyone was like, really chill about it.
I talked to my mom and she said: “Yeah, the moon will hit the earth in about three months, you still have time to say goodbye to the people who you care about."
I was like "damn”, and then I said: “How do you guys knew before me?” And my mom said: “Its because we watch the news and you don´t.”

"What is this place?"
@shootsxruns
Torunn had been on Midgard from the time she was a child, raised alongside the Avengers' children by Tony Stark after Ultron decimated his team and then the rest of the world. It had been years since Tony passed, but she still carried that ache in her heart of losing the only real father she'd ever known. She could have gone back to Asgard after she and her brothers defeated Ultron once and for all, but she would never leave her found family. There was still so much work left to do to restore Earth.
"This is Ultra City, and we are not safe here. His Drone Walkers and Flyers still control the city. We must find cover before they arrive." Torunn had sheathed her sword down her back when she saw the stranger was human--well, living anyway. That didn't necessarily mean it was safe, since humans could be just as dangerous as androids, but she wasn't the biggest threat at the moment. They'd spent years trying to restore New York City, but even with Ultron gone, it had proven difficult.

the strike & SDCC 2023
only leaving this up for a little while bc I usually avoid current events due to drama.
how are you guys feeling about the strike impacting SDCC? I’ve never been to a convention, so: is there any point in going if writers & actors won’t be there? Are you mad if you already bought tickets, or do you think it’s worth it to support the arts?
I’d like to say that I’m fairly fresh out of uni, but I consider myself a writer. I have 2 degrees in it from 1 of the most acclaimed arts-focused (somewhat) schools in the US. & I know people who have told me to learn to use AI for my creative & professional writing. Immediately, I was offended. I spent 5 yrs getting a BA & MA, just for my brainpower to be replaced by a program?
& then I tried Chat GPT. It’s great for research & putting out one-liners (ex. headlines for articles) but other writers agree w/me that it’s horrible at generating plots & actual stories. It comes out formulaic, filled w/common tropes & lacking detail. You won’t get ranting drabbles that make you cry, or PWP (it actually can’t do the 2nd bc apparently there’s some prohibition against adult topics). I love my word/phrase generator sites, but I hate AIs.
(I’m also someone whose greatest fear list includes AIs deciding that humans need to be eliminated to save the planet’s wildlife sooo— 😅)
anyway. How does the strike affect you in terms of SDCC? Yes, I know there’s a bigger picture. The topic just dawned on me a few min ago.
