"Among the surviving records of SPK’s (Sozialistisches Patientenkollektiv or Socialist Patients' Collective) actions and ideologies is a manifesto written by its members called Aus Der Krankheit Eine Waffe Machen (often translated as To Make an Army out of Illness, or Turn Illness into a Weapon). This 1972 text is part user manual, part oral history, part sardonic critique of Cold War capitalism. Unlike other self-organized patient groups and their counterparts in the anti-psychiatry movement, SPK uniquely combined Marxist political theory, social science analysis, and what they termed 'therapeutic praxis' to create an improvised, in-patient community with the express collectivist goal of researching the connections between capitalism, madness, eugenics, and the individuation of illness under political economies of work and care."¹

AIGHT almost three hours later but we got some of the character sheet done 👍

#turns out homebrewing webshooters is not as easy as I thought it would be #so general character sheet overview: #strength+2; dex+3; con+1; intelligence+1 (☹️); wisdom+0 (☹️☹️); and charisma+2 (😁) #proficiencies in acrobatics; animal handling; perception; survival; and intimidation #base AC: 13 #with suit- maybe a bit higher #speed:30 (although i did try to ask the dm if i could homebrew something to make it ~35. it did not work #hit points are 43! which isn't the best but that's good #class: five levels in fighter #oops tried to add a comma #and one level in monk #I think the DMs going to allow me to have vicious mockery for free? maybe ill have to trade in a feat for that though #but with the classes/ levels; I should have 1d8 and 5d10s for the hit dice! so that's cool #UHHH after that there's some cool attack things / proficiencies #so ill have second wind as a bonus action; and an extra attack (also as a bonus action?) #i have a plus 2 to attack with ranged weapons (webshooters) #i think we'll just use the stats for a light crossbow and bolts for that? and scimitar stats for anti-venom/ 'iron leg things' as my dm sai #i think we'll have to nerf the webshooters for combat sadly #OH and alignment is chaotic neutral #i didn't write down anything for alliances + traits/bonds/flaws (hint: for that last one it's everything) because i know myself. well enoug #for the background I think i know it well enough/sar #but for background (the one short one at the top left of the little box area) it's just folk hero #so that's cool #dm chose some of the stuff for me! which is cool because i am very indecisive! however #alright so we did make the spidey-sense; basically a modified 'danger sense' so that checks out #definitelyyy nerfed but that's alright #and the dm's making a passive ability? that I can't know about until the campaign? #hopefully it's nothing. super detrimental to the campaign #ANYWAY I know common and one other language; which im not sure about what it'll be? #it had the potential to be really good and hey maybe theres something im missing #i dont disagree with her being a spoiled brat in the second arc at all. that makes complete sense with her character and we saw some of that #in the second book. it just wasnt the highlight bc the pov character was her royal sister who was being treated weird as well #my actual issue is with her animus magic. shes described as being scared to use it and worries about being seen as a weapon #she hides it from others (at the advice of her mom but still) and she talks abt albatross as being someone she feared becoming #so like. why the fuck. does she just carelessly use her magic on frivolous things in thesecond arc #if its bc shes finally free from her mom then thats weird bc part of the reason she wanted out was bc she was afraid of animus magic corrup #corruption #its like they took that aspect of her character away and gave it to turtle instead #so to serve his arc shes suddenly all like ''oh well ill turn insane anyways so whoooo cares'' and he has to save her #i like that she hates him for giving her magic bc that at least makes sense but its so weird how suddenly shes like #oh noooo ill overuse it on small things. where before it made her so nervous #if its bc she did end up using more of it during book 2's climax then they should haveset that up better #bc in arc two it feels more like tui suddenly just wanted a spoiled brat ''i should do whatever i want'' character and chose anemone #and again. her being spoiled DOES make sense for her character. its the animus attitude that bothers me #echoed voice

Last night a friend of mine shared a bunch of pages from the whos who in the DC universe books and I have so many thoughts about them but cant get out anything coherent so the thing I need everyone to know is that

1. In the first version at least the charlton versions of the charlton characters had separate pages from their DC counterparts

2. They Guy Gardner’d charlton Peacemaker in a effort to explain why he was all of the sudden a weird asshole in crisis and its the funniest thing ever to me

#Also this version tried to retcon DC peacemaker's backstory to be less ableist and also make him not a war criminal anymore #and then in the next edition his desc was written by Paul Kupperberg and Kupperberg set the record straight and was like #no no he is a war criminal because hes mentally ill. that is the case dont get it twisted. #Also unfortunately both versions canonized Elizabeth Smith is dead and Im coping very well. #Also nobody agreed on where she moved them too #in the miniseries its mentioned she and Chris lived in New England and then in the first whos who with Peacemaker its #now Philadelphia and then in the second one its Baltimore. They moved around I guess. #Elizabeth died while Chris was in prison for the record which I do kind of like the angst there. #In the kupperberg desc its mentioned Chris didnt move back to America because without his mom he didnt #feel like there was any point #Also he did take over his dads weapons manufacturing company but turned it into a company that only produces like #Household Appliances which I love for him.
