Why did you choose your URL?

Once upon a time, a very long time ago now, I discovered role-playing in a furry community back when I had not even a concept of what ‘furry’ meant. I ran a role-playing guild there for a while, based on FFVIII, and at one point I ran a contest to name the world. My own submission was: K’tarianen - which did not win the votes. Since it wasn’t going to be used there, I’ve since used various forms of it for my online nicknames, or sometimes character names.

How long have you been on tumblr?

One of my first posts on this blog was actually the Pattern Hoarder Tutorial, which was made in Jan. 2017. So... about five and a half years now? I actually do have a personal tumblr that I almost never look at anymore, which was created at least five years before that.

Do you have a queue tag?

I do not. Nearly everything I post runs through my queue or is scheduled though.

Why did you start your blog in the first place?

I started it in order to post the Pattern Hoarder Tutorial in a place where it could be seen and would not soon disappear or be lost. Patterns used to be the only CC I actually used, and I hadn’t found a tutorial for multi-layer (or multi-color channel) patterns, so I wanted to share what I’d figured out with everyone else.

These days I consider that I ought to turn it into PDF’s so that it could be easily uploaded anywhere. Perhaps someday I’ll make time for that.

Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

My icon is a crop of a photo of my simself. Perhaps someday I’ll change it, but I’m fairly satisfied with it.

Why did you choose your header?

Uh. I don’t think I have a header.. do I? *goes to look* OH. I do. LMAO. It’s the music room of the Olijar mansion which I spent far too much time on and was extremely pleased with when I had finished. They’re supposed to be the main family in my main save, but I think so far they’ve actually had less ‘screen time’ than some of the other households.

What’s your post with the most notes?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, a tips post I made forever ago with things I find very valuable knowledge in-game.

How many mutuals do you have?

I have... not the faintest idea, honestly. I did a google search to figure out how to find that out, but met only with more confusion.

How many followers do you have?

Looks like the current count is 880, for whatever that’s worth. As a note, I don’t really keep track, nor do I check to see if people unfollow me, nor do I spend time to try to block people who might be inactive, bots, etc.

How many people do you follow?

458 currently. I feel like this number used to be higher, but probably some blogs were lost to Tumblr’s shenanigans, and some people deleted their blogs. I follow almost exclusively blogs who post TS3 content, as it’s the only game in the series I’ve yet played, but I do follow a few TS2 blogs. I’m also pretty picky in that I require posts to be properly tagged, for there not to be too many of them all the time, and usually for there to not be too many CC reblogs. I follow most creators directly, and a few CCfinds blogs in case I miss things, and don’t like to constantly see the same thing over and over again on my dash. Which I actually do keep up with most of the time.

Have you ever made a shitpost?

Uh. I think someone would have to define for me what a shitpost is before I could answer this question. xD I have heard the term a lot, but don’t actually know what it means, precisely. (When you use sarcasm to call something out?)

How often do you use tumblr every day?

Typically, every day. Though some days get skipped if I am too busy. And a few times, several months were skipped due to life taking over.

Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? who won?

I try to keep any disagreements I might have with other members of the sims 3 fandom on tumblr to private disagreements. Publicly posted arguments tend to blow up far too quickly and can result in unwanted consequences.

How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts?

Emotional manipulation has long been a tactic to get people to spread things they’d otherwise ignore. It doesn’t really work on me. I’ll reblog it if I feel the message is worth sharing, and appropriate to my blog, or important enough to be shared here regardless of what it’s about.

Do you like tag games?

I think tag games are kinda fun, I just rarely find the time to participate in them. ^-^;;

Do you like ask memes?

Since most of my gameplay is strictly gameplay without any well defined stories to accompany them, I usually don’t have much to say for ask memes. Sometimes they’re fun! Sometimes I just have no clue what I’d say.

Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?

Since, to my surprise, a lot of the creators I follow actually also follow me, I’d say there’s quite a few, so I won’t bother name-dropping.

Do you have a crush on a mutual?

I’m long past the age of crushes. xD They’re also very rare for me.

Untagged but lifted from @clumsybot because I am the bored. Or rather, there are non-Sims, non-sitting-on-my-ass-in-front-of-a-computer things I should be doing, but...Don't wanna. So here we are. :)

Why did you choose your url? Because TS3 is nothing but an endless parade of pudding people, and since this was going to be a TS3-specific blog...There we are.

How long have you been on tumblr? This account is less than a year old, I think, but I started my TS2 blog in....2013? I think? So, almost a decade.

Do you have a queue tag? ...No? I don't think so? I mean, I use the queue, but I don't have a specific tag for queued posts.

Why did you start your blog in the first place? I'd had the TS2 blog for a long time, but I just got tired of the game, which I never thought would happen. At the same time, I got into TS3, which I also thought would never happen. I knew that a lot of people who followed me on the TS2 blog did so because of the CC I made (and I might return to doing that, if I can get the game to install and run on this machine), and I didn't want to tick them off by switching over to TS3. I also wanted a dashboard that was primarily TS3-relevant without having to unfollow people and then follow new people. So, a new, separate account rather than a sideblog seemed the way to go.

Why did you choose your icon/pfp? The icon is because I have a strange fondness for the mechanical bull in the game. It is my favorite thing ever. Don't ask me why.

And I have no idea what "pfp" means because I am An Old. I don't know what half the acronyms you kids use mean. Get off my lawn.

Why did you choose your header? Because I also have a strange fondness for the train in Champs les Sims. When I see it going by, I always go "Choo choo!" in an annoying, chirpy voice. And then my husband throws something at me if he's in earshot.

What’s your post with the most notes? I...don't know? Not without going back and looking, which I'm not going to do because, honestly? IDC enough. Look, an acronym! Hello, fellow kids.

How many mutuals do you have? I don't know. What do I click to find out? Guess I'm An Old, after all. Get off my lawn.

How many followers do you have? I don't really like to give specific numbers anymore. I realized at one point that it sounded kind of...I don't know...braggy? That said, on this blog, it's a three digit number. On the other, last I looked, it's a four-digit number. And I appreciate all of them.

How many people do you follow? Right now, only 86. And many of them are finds blogs that are, frankly, redundant. I am a bad, bad blogger. One of these days, I'm going to sit down and unfollow some of the finds and go through the people who follow me and follow back those who post TS3 stuff and find other people and all that stuff. It's just seems like, you know, work. Ugh.

Have you ever made a shit post? Define "shit post." I posted about my snake terrifying poor Jehovah's Witness ladies when I truly didn't intend to terrify them. (And they still haven't come back! I feel like I need to send an apology letter to their kingdom hall or something...) Anyway, that was pretty shitty of me. (The scaring the ladies part was shitty, that is, not the posting about it.)

Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? Who won? I don't see any point to fighting about Sims games. That's just ridiculous. I save my ridiculous arguing for arguing with Christian apologists -- some of them professional and big-name in such circles -- in YouTube comments. It's pointless af (Another acronym! Hello, fellow kids!), but it's also fun af. To me. Because I'm incredibly weird.

How do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts Mostly, I feel that I don't need to reblog them, unless they pertain to Sims, and sometimes not even then. Call me an asshole (because I freely admit that I am one), but my tumblr blog isn't about activism. That's for real life.

I don't have a crush on NC, but they do seem like a fun person, and I do know that we are mutuals, and I thought of their name first when I read the question. So does that mean I actually *do* have a crush? Hmmmmm.... )

Your thoughts on the Sims 1-4

Guess I’m in the mood to do these. Grabbing a tag from @mosneakers.

Sims 1: The big thing I remember about this game is that it could take your sim hours to cross from one end of the house to the other. Thus, if the sim got up at the normal one-hour-before-work, they often wouldn’t have time to both pee and eat. I got obsessed with designing and efficient house, with the kitchen right outside the bedroom door, so that my sims could get to work with the best mood.

Then I let the garden go bad, and it would destroy my sims’ mood on the way to the carpool, and it took me forever to figure out what was going on :-D

Sim 2: I remember being thrilled by how much easier it was for sims to get around their house. The introduction of lifespans intrigued me. However, I hadn’t really figured out what I wanted to DO with this sandbox game yet. Playing Sims gets boring if you don’t have some kind of a goal. I’d never heard of a generational challenge, much less rotational gameplay, and I hadn’t plugged into the fan community yet.

I did dabble in mods -- mostly the mod to drastically increase the chance of a sim being abducted when using the telescope so I could make alien babies. I built a household from two CAS-built sisters who were of different races. One of them married a man, and the other a woman, and then I got frustrated that the lesbian couple couldn’t make babies. They adopted, but I was annoyed by how genetically boring their adopted son was. Then I got obsessed with trying to get one of the lesbians to cheat on her spouse to make a baby without being discovered. Where is artificial insemination when you need it?

Later, I created a new sim who married into the Broke family. I got bored and tried to starve Dustin to death to make a ghost. when I removed the door to his bedroom and his needs got very low, he got down on his knees to beg the Watcher for his life. I felt so guilty that I actually turned off the game and never went back!

Sims 3: This is where it happened for me. Open world and a town that aged with my active household just better matches the way I imagine playing. I even figured out generational play, at least somewhat, before really plugging into the fan community.

I didn’t realize until reading @mosneakers and @natolesims‘s memes that there was so much hate floating around for Sims 3 art style! I admit that I do dislike the child faces. I thought Sims 2 faces were too long and thin. Sims 3 faces seem to have overcompensated by being just a bit too round. Otherwise, I’m quite sure I don’t know what you guys are talking about. LOL.

I don’t think I’d still be playing if it weren’t for NRaas, though. Sims 3′s open world was pretty ambitious, and their data management was totally not up to the task. I spent years offering tech support on people’s blogs when they started to suffer data corruption in generation 2 or 3. You just can’t play without at least minimal mods to clean up save files. It’s unintuitive that a modded game is more stable than vanilla, but it’s just true. Sad, but true.

Sims 4: I have played this very little, not because I hate it but because I am stubbornly determined to finish my 10-generation legacy. A lot of folks just rebuilt their household in Sims 4 and continued to play. At the time Sims 4 came out, I was playing supernatural-heavy games with custom skintones, so I’d lose almost everything if I ported them over. It also turns out that it’s hard to face going from a heavily-modded, 11-expansion experience to a game with base or just one expansion. I have a lot more sympathy for Sims 2 players who skipped Sims 3 entirely.

I have a hard time facing the color presets and closed world, but the game in its current state really seems to have done great things with gameplay. If/when I get the Samples done, I’ll take a look at making the switch. Of course, by then Sims 5 will likely be out, so maybe I’ll skip....

What is your favorite Expansion pack

Generations and/or Seasons. But it’s really hard to choose.

Small pets or Horses?

I really, really love Sims 3 horses. Since I’m modding pets, it can probably be guessed that I like the animals in general :).

What is your favorite active career?

Yes.

I have had a ton of fun with almost all active careers. If forced to choose, I might go for firefighter.

What is your favorite Lifetime Wish?

Buh. I really dug the Photography one I guess. I just like doing different ones.

Whims or Wants?

I’m sorry. I have no idea what this question even means (blush).

What is your favorite Occult?

I feel like all the occults in TS3 are kind of underdeveloped. That said, witches are pretty cool.

How do you pick your sims names?

I am absolutely OBSESSED with names. I’m sorry I only got to name one flesh-and-blood child, so I let it all out in naming my simmies. I get into the head of the parent(s) and come up with lists from whatever they would like. My saves are very gameplay-directed, and tend to randomize most traits, so I intentionally don’t build a sim to a name or try to make a sim’s name suit their personality at all. After all, when we name our children, we get no say over who they eventually become :).

Do you create a spouse for a sim, or do you go after a townie?

Townie! My gaming style is heavily gameplay-oriented. I want my sims to choose their partner using wishes and attraction and whatever else the game provides. However, I also am incredibly interested in genetic experimentation, so I do allow myself to change the physical appearance of some sims before making babies with them if they are too bland. I populated my Samples save from scratch, largely using downloaded simalikes of real people. I have NRaas set to use existing sims in the town or in my sim bin, to generate new ones. So basically I do my best to have the most interesting genetics pool I can so I don’t need to edit faces.

Do you prefer to follow storytelling Simblrs, or do your prefer gameplay Simblrs?

I’m not totally sure what this is asking either :-D. Are “storytelling” simblrs the ones that largely use the game as an artistic medium for screenshots using poses and whatnot? My play style is to play the game and build stories from it, so I’m not entirely sure what category I fall into myself.

I suppose it doesn’t matter because I follow both. I’m not terribly drawn to dressup challenges and lookbooks.

What year did you join Tumblr/Simblr?

I have absolutely no friggin idea. I tried to look back in my email archive to track notifications, and that failed. I came back after three years, so it has to be at least for years before I returned....?

i love rats irl but also ts3′s small animals are still one of my favorite features(?) in any sims game ever. atm it’s wearing a cowboy hat in preparation for cottage living which i refer to in my mind as country living bc farm = country

i guess its kinda like a cast list for my blog? the 2 saves i have that i consider active are the eclairs and wisps so i have the heirs of the current gen im on in each. i dont remember why i started putting my animal crossing simself in the header but i did so there’s also my island rep skdjskd i used to have the founders/heirs from my old saves too but some of those saves might never come back (or start) so i took them out but now it looks empty :/

Simblr Community Challenge by @amelettes

I was tagged by @lilith-sims, thank you so much for thinking of me!

How long have you been playing the Sims - My first exposure to the regular sims game was at a friend’s birthday party in middle school. Might have been 2002? She had the sims 1 on some console and we played it at the party, and I loved it so much. I ended up being given an X-box a few years later and got the sims 2 for it, and then eventually got it on PC some time around 2005.

How long have you been a Simblr, and why did you become one - I started out on Garden of Shadows and then made a livejournal in 2007 I think. I made a tumblr when the sims community started moving over here, but it took me a while to actually start using it and posting. I really don’t remember when that was, maybe 2011? I wanted to keep track of what was going on with the simmers I knew and share the CC I was making.

What type of Simblr are you - Sporadic content creator, mostly just lurking at this point and then I’ll come out of hiding and post a download every couple of years before retreating again. I do have a side blog @needlecreamfindsthings where I reblog content that I want to spread love to. I also use my this main and my pure simblr @owlcowl to boost any important info for the community or the occasional sims meme. I try not to post non-sims content on my main @needlecream but there are occasional random posts and cat videos when I really want to save or share them.

Which generation of Sims do you primarily play - ts2 just feels like home. I’ve dabbled with ts3 and ts4, but ts2 is my main focus. I feel comfortable and happy creating CC for it and I also find the gameplay the most satisfying.

Telegram?

I’ve mentioned Telegram before, but stopped short of writing an introduction about it since we probably won’t really taking the whole moving thing seriously. However, it seems tumblr’s starting to screw up with its UI & user posts AGAIN, while some simmers are worried about SFS. I’d like to explore the possibility to use Telegram as an alternative. Besides, Telegram is a powerful and useful tool that worth trying even for personal use. I'd like to share what I’ve learnt about it and how we can make use of it as an ordinary user and a simmer. You can find other much more comprehensive tutorials or user guides on the internet.

What is Telegram?

Pro:

Safe & Stable-as mentioned above. This is why I think Telegram is better than most of other potential alternatives like Pillowfort, Waterfall (not stable enough with funding risks), Discord (closed community with questionable shareholder Tencent, Telegram allows preview historical records before joining in) . Its background, source of funding and user base guarantee it won’t be gone or dramatically change after a buyout, at least not for a foreseeable future.

(Nearly) Unlimited file storage- Telegram allows its users to upload all kinds of files with the only restriction of up to 1.5GB/per file. All the chat records or pictures, videos are all saved to the could. We could use this to diversify the risk from SFS. Besides, Telegram provides both mobile and desktop version. For example, I often drag the songs I like to the desktop version and then download and save the files to my smart phone when I decide to change my ring tone or alarm. This is also handy when I need to compare the reference photos to the sim I’m creating in CAS. All I have to do is to paste the link to these reference photos with the desktop version, then I can easily check them up with my phone.

Channel vs Group- Telegram allows its user to create channels to broadcast (you can subscribe certain channels to keep up with the latest info) and groups for group chat (pretty much like FB or Line chat room but allows up to 200,000 members) I think we can have multiple groups for like cc release, roleplay, challenges or events, basically everything we have with Discord, and at least one channel as TS3 bulletin, broadcasting the latest news in the community. Each simmer can also set up their own channels & groups to interact with their followers.

Search and categorize by tags- We can use tags to sort out the cc like what we do with Tumblr. Moreover, Telegram provides a cross-channel/group tag search system.

Powerful Bot-This is probably the most innovative advantage of Telegram. Bot can help you with all kinds of tasks, even more useful than Discord.

-As a simmer, you can use the bot to make posts to different channels/groups simultaneously, for instance, I write a post about my new cc on my personal channel and the bot will automatically post it to the cc update group. There’s also inline blot can help non-English speaker to translate the messages when needed, like Translate Me-bot or ReadUp Inline Translator.

As for personal use, you can use @utubebot or @YouTube Audio Downloader to download videos from YouTube, or upload a file and create a shareable link with @TGhost_bot, or search for meme/gif with @imagebot and ofc @Feed Reader Bot to subscribe RSS feed. Telegram also provides numerous free stickers and you can make custom ones with @stickers & @big_text_bot. Btw, Telegram allows its users to customize the UI theme.

You can also create your own bot with Telegram’s opensource API.

Proxy Server-Users in Russia and Iran won’t have to use telegram via VPN. The official bot @mtpro_xyz_bot will automatically protect users in these regions once properly sets up.

No NSFW censorship- I think this one is pretty self-explanatory.

Con-

Registration requires your phone number- Telegram starts as a message app and develops into a platform for multiple communities later. Hence, it requires a valid phone number during registration. There are also ways to bypass this restriction, like using a virtual phone number. BUT! It would be a problem if someone else gain access to this number after you. I don’t recommend that. If you worried about privacy, you can decide who can see your phone number in the setting. I turned mine off as soon as I finished the registration process.

Telegram is banned in Russia, Iran and China as its wide use among activists and dissidents during protests (ie, Hong Kong.) Simmers in these regions will need to use Proxy or VPN to access.

Requires more time and efforts to learn and adopt its powerful functions

Of course the best part will be we can finally say goodbye to Tumblr without worrying about our posts being swallowed or flagged, the automatic unfollowing function, or the possibility of find the blogs we worked on for years just disappeared overnight.

I’ve been observing Telegram for quite some time, I think it worth a shot. what about you? Moving to another platform will be difficult, but I kinda tired of complaining over Tumblr.

I was tagged by @ashuriphoenix about a week ago, didn’t have time to do it before now - deal with it ;)

1) Which is your favorite Sims Expansion?

That’s a tough one. I have them all and I think they all add something to the game. But I have to say Seasons, because WEATHER.

2) How long have you been playing sims?

Since June 2009 - which is a lot longer than I would have imagined as I bought the game on a whim.

3) Do you have any favorite simblrs?

Yes.

4) How would you describe your gameplay?

Fly by the seat of my pants. I never plan anything.

5) What made you want to create a simblr?

I first realized there was a whole sims community on the old official TS3 forums and I was very active there for a few years. I also started a blog on blogspot but then after a while it seemed a lot of people migrated to tumblr, and I didn’t want to be left behind so... Been here since Feb 2014.

6) What is your favorite Sim age?

It’s actually easier for me to pick my least fave Sim age, which is teens and adults. They just don’t excite me that much.

7) Do you use cheats when you play Sims?

Constantly.

8) What is your favorite thing about the Sims?

It relaxes me and brings me comfort like nothing else in my life.

9) What is your least favorite thing about the Sims?

Bugs. But thanks to my gazillion mods it’s hardly noticeable that this game is less than perfect.

10) What expansion pack are you hoping for next?

Honey, that ship has sailed.

11) Do you like to play the Sims in the morning or at night?

Night owl is one of my traits.

12) Do you have a aesthetic for your Sims?

I guess so. I don’t know what that is though. But I know what I like and what I don’t like and I take it from there.

Don’t have any per say. I use a baby name site for inspiration.

14) What is your favorite Sim Career?

The culinary career.

Small user made worlds.

16) Do you prefer small or large Sim houses?

30x30 is my preferred lot size, so medium-ish I guess.

17) Do you prefer more modern or traditional Sim houses?

I’d say my style is contemporary.

18) What is your favorite Sims Challenge / Prompt?

I have no interest in challenges, fly by the seat of my pants remember.

19) What Sim emotion would you most often be?

When they go to the winery and taste a really good wine.

20) What is your favorite skill to level up?

Culinary. I like having my Sims read recipes and practice cooking.

21) Describe your favorite Sim.

I always have one or two for each generation.

22) What kind of computer do you play Sims on?

MSI gaming laptop - it’s important to me that I can play this game on max settings.

23) Do you use Mods in your game?

I would not have lasted 10 years without mods.

24) How many hours of Sims do you think you have played?

No clue. But I’ve been playing since 2009, so a lot.

25) What are you planning to do next in the Sims?

Look at that, I’m doing replies after...more than a month? I don’t know. I didn’t check. I also won’t reply to every single thing because 1) my activity feed doesn’t show it all, as always and 2) it’s too late to reply to some things, it would be pointless now. However, thank you all for commenting from time to time, it makes my day. And well, I was against it at first, but I might start replying directly under the posts, I’ll only do replies posts for things I want to talk about more.

Life updates? I’m doing good. My life, surprisingly, didn’t turn upside down when I started uni. My social life also didn’t change too much. But I have a few friends that I talk to in the classes we have together. It’s not a friendship friendship if you know what I mean, but hey. It’s only the beginning, things might change. I’m not losing faith that I’ll walk out of this school with at least one friend.

Played Roses a bit in the past three days. The random gameplay part was boring, I didn’t know what to do, my heart really wasn’t in it, most of the time I just left the game running and interfered only when it was needed, so I cut down on that and went straight to the storyline. I’m not discontinuing this legacy before Regan gets a happy ending. Once Regan is happy, it’s Golden Days time...which means even more intense storytelling. Yay. I’m already exhausted just thinking about it but also, it’s exciting. I love that story so much and I can’t wait to bring it to life.

I don't play TS3 anymore because it often took up to an hour for my game to even decide it was going to open.

And that was with a GOOD computer.

yeah its just a trade off i guess lol but having not played sims 3 for a long time makes me miss it and actually enjoy playing it instead of go in to take pics only! plus loading times are not that bad if you merge everything (but thats a problem on its own haha)

Yeah, creating your ts3 sims in ts4 can definitely lead to not wanting to open ts3 because hey, you have them in this other game that loads a lot faster! And I mean, I do love ts3, but...I’m not going to spend an hour or something just on trying to get into the game to do a random photoshoot.

I have a lot of my stuff merged, but I should probably do it again because I got a lot of stuff since then. Right now, it takes about an hour to load my legacy saves...and that’s quite a long time because by the time it loads, I start working on something else and I don’t feel like playing anymore. I’m usually writing while waiting for it to load and of course, when it loads, I’m in the middle of something I can’t put off - a good dialogue, a fun scene or just something important that I was dying to write and now I finally got to it.

One of my sims was an elder and her hair kept going between grey and her natural color when she was younger. Sometimes in the same sitting. She'd come visit, I"d look and it would be grey. I'd look again a few minutes later and it would be red.

Interesting...I think this happened because I had a separate recolour for his red hair, it had only that swatch and no other. When he got older, I switched to a WMS file with all the colours, but I think the game left the original file for his other outfit.

I found that I actually don’t have trouble with the grammar. The grammar seems quite easy to me, everything has its place. When I’m reading something, I often understand what’s in the text. The problem comes when I hear someone speak German lol. I understand very little. It was fine in high school, my teacher spoke slowly, but my teacher here speaks so fast...it’s fun. D:

Also my vocabulary sucks to be honest...I need to work on a lot of things.

Actually, they used to be able to control themselves. Back when Sunset was a child, they made sure to not have woohoo until they were sure she was away haha. But I guess times have changed and they care less now lol
