I’ve been watching a lot of This Farming Life on BBC since the shutdown started. It’s every bit as soothing as Great British Bake-off, in spite of the many scenes of difficult livestock births. Mini bus to mini home 🚐✨

This is where our dreams of adventure started, with a VW LT35 mini bus! It was converted by my partner and me. - My partner (Will) had graduated and was in full time work, and I was still in my final year at university!

We did everything ourselves (building, plumbing, gas, & electrics) in 4 months, motivated by the dream of living a simple life, travelling in a cosy home with everything we could possibly need. We were 21 and had no experience with anything like this before, looking to facebook groups and YouTube tutorials for guidance! It was the most difficult project, but somehow it call came together. And although it may not the most perfect build, it’s perfect for us - it’s cosy and definitely has character! 😂

We travelled for 200 days last year! 🚐🗺 It came with its challenges: living with less, in a confined space, with no bathroom but only a portable shower and toilet!!! But we discovered that van living is all about these compromises, whether it’s space, hot water, or a flushing toilet! But we found it was all worth it to be able to spend all our time in nature, and never miss a sunset! So although it frustrated us sometimes, it was always worth the extra effort things may take - like taking ages to boil the water to make a cup of coffee in the morning, filling up the water tank, emptying the toilet or having chilly outside showers! ❄️💦 We can not wait till we can take our rolling home out for an adventure again.

Here are some sunny interior shots of our bus. But soon I will share how I was able to keep making art on the road, and some of the best places I discovered that inspired me the most.

Taking its title from the lyrics of John Lennon’s iconic song #Imagine, “Imagine all the people” is a project by Turin-based artist and illustrator Pierpaolo Rovero’s @pierpaolorovero that fantasizes about the way people around the word spend their time in quarantine. Depicting a diverse range of metropolitan panoramas, from New York and Paris, to Jerusalem, to Tokyo, Rovero imagines the citizens of each city indulging in the same activity while stuck at home, allowing viewers to catch glimpses through windows, balconies and skylights. Athens plays sports, Amsterdam paints, Hong Kong works, New York reads, Florence cooks, Madrid makes love… the list goes on.
