I like using my watercolor journal as a playground for practice. Today it’s values. This is way out of my comfort zone but I’m embracing the challenge. I’ve been inspired all week by the beautiful shades of blue-violets and greens I photographed at a local blueberry farm recently. When I’m experimenting with new or difficult things I expect to feel discouraged. If I become overwhelmed I simply walk away. Sometimes fresh eyes are all the help I need when learning something new, other times I file the practice away and move on to more comfortable or accomplished tasks. In all things though, it’s baby steps.
