Top 5 Star Trek characters
(okay, I should stop now with the asks *lol*)
Hmm this one wasn't showing up on the desktop site.
Oooh ok so I haven't seen everything, and I really need to rewatch DS9 and Voyager, but, at this moment, I think
Data (my actual fave-fave of all time I think)
Worf (very close second fave)
Uuuh Ro Laren, and Geordie, and Julian are all characters I'm attached to
I think Odo, probably has to make this list

I’m so jealous of that little girl in S2E15 of TNG… I would’ve killed to be holding Data’s hand as a kid, wandering around on that set oughhhhh
My inner child is screaming yelling crying stomping their feet, swinging their little fists around in a whirlwind

I feel like the Next Generation writers learned the wrong lesson from season 4. Season 4 is great because of how character focused the stories are, but season 5 and so far 6 have had so much focus on character that it feels segmented. An episode ones, we learn this is an episode about one character, and then we see that character deal with things with maybe one other character. But I feel like what made Season 4 so good was the character focused stories where we saw them interact with each other. “Data’s Day”, for example, isn’t fantastic because it’s about Data, it’s fantastic because of the interactions we see between him and the rest of the crew. Meanwhile an episode like “Tapestry” is a great exploration of Picard’s character, but it’s not overly interesting because Picard is the only character present that we care about. It’s okay to have those episodes once and awhile, even in season 4 there are a few like that, but by this point it feels like it’s every single episode. It feels like we rarely see the whole crew just interacting with each other anymore.

"I feel like Star Trek, as a franchise, has stopped moving forward. Everything needs to tie into some story that aired 30-60 years ago. Picard season 3 was a TNG reunion, SNW leans way too hard into being a TOS prequel, even Discovery season 5 is apparently going to tie into legacy Trek. When did Trek's mission statement change from "exploring new worlds" to "endlessly rehashing the same few stories until the sun goes out?""
