The Other Side~ 205 words
Astarion held his arms out, palms facing the sky as he silently screamed in the morning light. He had done it again, everything according to plan. The tiefling made it too easy, really. A smile here, a quip there, and Lox played right into it. Just more lies added to an endless hoard of deceptions.
Still the numb feeling settled in his stomach was like an anchor pulling him under again.
He focused on the warmth of the sun against his skin. There was a little joy in that. This light he had been forced to fear, he could and would relish.
Then there was the taste in his mouth. A target willingly offering him their blood. That was a first. It was beyond doubt that Lox’s blood was descended from the hells. It was hot like fresh brewed tea. Salty and spicy like raw cinnamon. But still it was sweet and all too smooth. A shiver ran down his spine equal parts pleasure and apprehension.
And he was afraid of this second feeling. It was blooming alongside the anchor. This want certainly had to be for nothing more than blood. He only hoped it would get dragged down to numbness too. Like everything else.

My DND characters!

Ooooh I got tagged! :D
Relation Status: In a LDR with the wonderful @mercurialmalcontent. <3
Favorite Color: ALL OF THEM. But lately I've been wearing lots of purples and oranges and yellows.
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Sweets: chocolate, red bean paste, apple-based pastries, and anything with poppyseeds. Spicy: I like it! Spicy coconut soups and eggs with hot sauce and spicyhot v8 juice and warming extra-gingery chais. Savory: yes pleeease, I am particularly fond of miso soup, lox, peppered beef jerky, and anything with mushrooms in it for savory things.
Three ships:
oh gooood just three?
Karlach and Astarion from Baldur's Gate 3. I'm digging the dynamic of Touch Starved Tiefling and Touched Out Vampire Figure Stuff Out Together. There is something so lovely about someone just flat out, unquestionably ADORING someone who has spent 200 years spouting so much automatic false praise at people that any compliment directed at him sounds like a lie. I don't care if they're friends or lovers or married, all of it is good, just please let these two hang out, they are hilarious and wonderful together.
Roland Deschain and Cuthbert Allgood and Alain Johns from the Dark Tower. Friends, lovers, both, everything rocks. They are traumatized cowboys who grew up in a constantly changing eldritch hellscape together and they can still joke around and they know each other so perfectly and I love them. Could they just all travel to New York so I can watch them lose their minds the first time they eat at a buffet restaurant, thankee-sai.
Ryne and Gaia from FFXIV. These two have been through so much horror and I just want them to be happy together. At first glance it's Hopelessly Cheerful Optimist beaming happy rays at the Snooty Goth Who's Learning To Smile Sometimes, but occasionally you get little scenes where Gaia perks Ryne up like high quality coffee. <3
First ever ship:
I dunno, I didn't really come up with ships on my own for a really long time--I just kinda went with what was there. I remember eventually learning how to do otherwise, I just don't remember who it was.
Last Song:
youtube
Last Film: I thiiiink it was One Piece Film: Red? Either way, WHAT A WILD RIDE, I think it might be my favorite One Piece film. A pop diva with creation magic covers up MASSIVE TRAUMA with glittery rainbow everythings, WHOO <3 Also, a banging soundtrack.
Last thing I Googled: The One Piece Film: Red trailer
Currently Reading: NOTHING. :O But that's only because I just finished editing someone's novel and my brain needs a rest.
Currently Watching: Rurouni Kenshin! I'm digging it a lot so far--I can tell the current voice actor admires the voice actor from the original series a lot. <3
Currently Consuming: Nothing yet. I drank all the cold brew coffee and now I have no cold brew coffee. :(
Currently Craving: Coffee. And these chickpea burrito things I found on sale, I should have bought twelve more.
Currently Working On: That Thing I did for Nano, a FFXIV fic and a Baldur's Gate fic
Current Obsession(s): Baldur's Gate 3, FFXIV, One Piece, that book I edited a few days ago (IT'S REALLY GOOD)
Aaaand all done, phew! Thank you for tagging me, that was fun! I tag: anybody else who wants to.

Get to Know Me
Tagged by the lovely @seancekitsch. Thanks Bonnie :)
Relationship Status: Don’t have one, not really looking at the moment Favorite Colors: Purple, Teal, and grey Favorite Food: lox and cream cheese on an everything bagel (I liked them before I moved to NYC, but now...I would live off nothing but if that was an option) Song stuck in my head: 🎵“I am not a person, I’m three possums in a coat”🎵 Although the song I’ve been listening to on repeat all day is “Writing Again” by Seanan McGuire Last thing you googled: “All Nancy Drew Books in order” because I’m reshelving my books and being particular about it Time: 12:27am Dream Trip: Romania. It’s so beautiful, and was one of the few places I really had no option to go to when I was studying abroad Last thing you read: Book Lovers by Emily Henry. Or I guess if we’re being technical, my mail that’s been sitting on my desk for two days.  Last book you enjoyed reading: that is the same question. I am trying to be better about giving up when I don’t enjoy a book, or even when I do but I’m not in the right mood. But I definitely really enjoyed Book Lovers. It’s not groundbreakingly original, but a book doesn’t need to be. And it’s really a fun, self-aware rom-com. Also a couple of times I felt a liiittle bit called out, which is always good in a book (in my opinion). Last book you hated reading: Other than textbooks, which it has been a year+ since I’ve had to read (yay!) I can’t think of one right now.  Favorite thing to cook/bake: lemon bars! Or pancakes even though they never come out pretty. I mean, I like cooking in general (especially chopping vegetables, I find the action and sound both very soothing, let’s not look to far into it) but those top tier Favorite craft to do in your free time: cross-stitch probably. But I’m not a super crafty person, and am very out of practice. Most niche dislike: I don’t think I have one that’s niche. I have many dislikes but they’re all probably pretty common ones.  Opinion on Circuses: Indifferent? I mean, I love a circus or a carnival as a fiction setting because you can do so much with them, and (according to some people strangely) find “circus music” in the right context romantic. But I have no strong feelings about actual circuses one way or the other. Do you have any sense of direction: No. I mean, I’d like to think I have one of narrative direction, but the jury is out. And I could get lost trying to find my way out of a paper bag. Tell us about your D&D Character: I have so many though. Even if I narrow it down to active campaigns that leaves 2...Valsolis and Wren. I talk about V most in my D&D posts (she’s a tiefling bard with roguish tendencies...as in she’s a grifter and con artist, and can pick a lock when she needs to. She is currently being hunted by a cult and they assassinated her merchant husband, which is a tragedy because she was just starting to like him and consider not killing him for his money). But Wren is a new one, she’s rather fun. She’s a halfling ranger with absolutely no charisma, and a squirrel for an animal companion. Technically she lives in town, but I’m pretty sure its in the way a feral cat lives under your porch. I want to cross-class barbarian but haven’t had a chance.
Tagging, if you want to play: @redlippedladyofrohan @the-winter-witcher @short-and-angry @forenschik @exlibrisfangirl

So cannonly I much prefer when he invited Lox and he persuaded him to say please at the party. But I had to restart for reasons and was must better at gaining his approval even with my chaotic good character. So he propositioned Lox before the party.
I think this is just the dialogue associated with him requesting to sleep with you a second time. But what I find interesting about this dialogue is that he admits he’s lying to your face. I feel it would be more advantageous to not admit that you lying if your trying to manipulate them.

Waiting for All of You
Tumblr media
Astarion x Lox (Mmc) - 816 words -T (I guess)
Lox couldn’t sleep that night. The air was cool and the ground under them was dry, but no matter how long he laid there with his eyes closed rest wouldn’t come. He pushed himself up and stared at the embers left by their fire, his hands resting on his knees. When his eyes began to wander he realized that Astarion’s bedroll was empty.
That was normal, but his absence brought the elf to the front of Lox’s mind. He was selfish and violent. Almost a complete opposite of Lox, but traveling together he had seen a hesitant softer side emerge from that dangerous smile. Maybe it was just wishful thinking to see the good in people. Regardless, Lox had this blossoming affection for Astarion. Then thoughts of the night after the refugees’ celebration crossed his mind.
Please.
He had actually said it. That low sultry word melted him. And then…
Lox couldn’t sit still anymore. The flush on his face wasn’t visible against his crimson skin, but he could feel its heat. His tail lashed against his ankles as he strode away from the burnt out fire. He stole away to the hidden soddy shore on the outskirts of camp. When he was sure he wouldn’t disturb anyone's rest Lox let out a heavy bittersweet sigh.
Astarion was playing some sort of game with him. Lox could tell by the distant look in the man’s eyes when he spoke sometimes. He held the same composed face that night too. Whatever the elf hoped to gain through deception, Lox wanted to show he needn’t lie for his favor. Even if I’m the end, his own feelings were not reciprocated.
The magic in him stirred, erratic and anxious. Deep breath. Focus.
The sorcerer cupped his hands together in front of his chest and three small, bright pink lights came to life in his palms. They danced around his fingers humming quietly as Lox composed their movement. He released them into the air and they twirled around one another and slowly faded as his emotions settled.
“There you are.” Astarion cooed from behind him and laughed at Lox’s surprised expression. The way his lips curled at its corners was criminal. “ I was worried, you know. I thought I was going to have to make due without dessert.”
“Funny. I don’t remember giving you an invitation.” Lox crossed his arms with an amused smile.
“Darling, after everything we’ve shared, I still have to ask? Come now. We both know you enjoy it as much as I do.”
He was right. There was no point even pretending to deny it. Lox held Astarion’s sanguine gaze to admire his playful smirk before tilting his head to the side. In a moment he had pulled his long ginger hair back to expose his taught neck.
“So, what are you waiting for?” Lox teased.
Astarion’s fangs flashed in delight and then they were buried in Lox’s skin. His hands gripped tight to the tiefling’s shoulders to steady himself. Lox put his hands on the vampire’s hips and leaned into the bite. The sharp pain subsided to a dull ache soothed by the touch of a cool languid tongue. His heart rate spiked and a shiver ran through him as his head became light. “Astarion…”
Mmh. He protested before he pulled back and loosened his grip. There was his real smile, the glint in his eyes Lox found joy in seeing.
Then Astarion’s hand snaked up Lox’s face to take hold of his horn and the vampire pulled him into a kiss. It was soft, but deep. Lox wanted to get lost in the moment again, like they had before. The feel of those adept hands pulling at his tunic made his heart beat twice as fast. But when he saw Astarion’s face it gave him pause. The bright light in those red eyes was gone. He was wearing his mask again.
Lox put his hands over Astarion’s and noticed the elf flinch before raising his brow.
“What?”
“Nothing… It's just we’re so close to camp. We shouldn’t get carried away. The others will hear.”
“Where’s the fun if we don’t risk a little scandal? You are so deliciously sweet, I want to reward you for what you’ve given me.”
Lox had to repress the frown that pulled at his lips. Gingerly he brought the man’s hand to his lips before letting go and taking a step back.
“I don’t need a reward. I give because I want to. Especially when I give to you. Now let’s go try to get some rest before the sun comes up.”
The tiefling didn’t wait for an answer. From behind him Lox heard the elf swear under his breath, then his footsteps catching up to him. Whatever was troubling Astarion, Lox was going to put his feelings aside until the elf chose he wanted to confide in him.

Untoward Feelings
Some slightly angsty fluff
Astarion x Lox (MC/Tav)
Was he awake? Astarion couldn’t tell. The tiefling was almost as bad at sleeping as he was. Honestly, how Lox did not collapse from exhaustion was a mystery to him.
That was on top of the fact that night after night he invited him back to drink his blood. At first Astarion didn’t bother to question it. Like he was going to turn down such a treat. But now he couldn’t help to ponder why in the hells Lox consistently offered to feed him. It made that uncomfortable feeling in his chest ache. That weighted knot was getting annoying. Why wasn’t it numbing out, like everything else before?
Lox shifted in his bedroll and Astarion pushed those thoughts away and stepped back. The tiefling opened one eye and peered up at him, before he rolled over with a smile, sweeping his long hair off his neck. The puncture marks from the previous nights still raw and visible in the glow of the moon.
But suddenly Astarion wasn’t hungry. Maybe he wasn’t to begin with, at least for tonight. He was only taking what was given. For the first time in as long as he could remember he wasn’t starved out of his mind. And it was because this fool just kept giving. Without thinking better of it he got on the ground to lay next to Lox, his face pressed into the back of the sorcerer’s neck.
There it was warm, but it was more than just heat. The steady beat of Lox’s heart played like a melody. His body relaxed as he breathed in the tiefling’s scent. Underneath the faint musk and sweat he could still smell the raw cinnamon taste of his blood. Blood so close, and freely given, but all Astarion wanted was to remain curled up into Lox’s back. Seriously, what was wrong with him?
Lox remained silent. The only indication of his consciousness was the scoot he made to give Astarion more room on the bedroll, and the end of the tiefling’s tail softly curling around his leg.
They laid together until the first rays of dawn caressed Astarion’s face. The comfort of it couldn’t compare to the warmth he felt in his forsaken soul. He couldn’t stop himself from wanting to stay like this for just a bit longer.
Then fear forced him away. It felt like he was daring to hope.
