continue being a little mean to toh fans please it is really irritating how some act like its got the best writing of any modern cartoon

Daawwwww I don't have it in me. TOH fans love it for a reason, and there are legitimately good moments! It's just not the most complex or well-written show out there—which it doesn't need to be—but I also totally get your exhaustion. It gets tiring seeing people praise it so highly over and over again when it's just like...fine. It didn't do nothing but it also didn't do something, you know? It's main couple is cute and queer, but that's pretty much all there is to them. It has a fun cast of characters, but they all tend to fall into archetypes. Luz is a sweet main character, but she doesn't have any real flaws and kinda takes a back seat to Hunter and Eda (the white people lol). Her foil with Philip was interesting...but then they kinda backed off and went the "you and Belos are nothing alike" direction.

And It's not that an unsympathetic villian is bad, or that Belos would even be sympathetic with added backstory, it's just that...there were a lot of interesting things to explore with his character that were left hanging.

Like, while he's definitely not at all a good person, it's intriguing that he would bother to recreate his brother over and over again knowing that each time the grimwalker was going to betray him. It's intriguing that he was even willing to kill his brother to begin with (though Caleb was super underutilized in general). Like, you can give a villain depth without justifying or victimizing them (hi Finnegran from tdp, I'll also add Spider Queen & LBD here). So it just feels like a missed opportunity all across the board. It's still surprising to me that we got a confirmation on the Wittebane backstory through an unrelated background character, rather than Philip himself (who had literally possessed a main character, and mindscapes had already been well-established....the pieces were all there me thinks).

And obviously it's like, people can love something despite it's flaws, and they can cherish it for the good it has, but they still don't need to praise it as an ultimate form of media, you know? We don't need to pretend toh was this dark and complex story—it was just a story a lot of people liked and resonated with. Which I'm glad it's there for those people, and I'm glad there are options when it comes to queer pieces of media!

That said the show with the best writing of any modern cartoon is The Dragon Prince (streaming on Netflix).

Honestly Raeda will def have their wedding at the end, trust. I mean even if its shown in those end credit pictures, like cmon guys. They'll totally get married and be happy for the rest of their lives and nothing will ever stop them. No one will die hahahaha-

I'm less worried about Raeda possible dying and more worried about if they'll get together in a satisfactory way.

Ideally it'll be like Varick and Jhu Li's wedding in Legend of Korra. Ending the show with a wedding to basically symbolize the characters celebrating their victory. In their case, they were NOT even dating before Varrick proposed to Jhu Li, he had only BARELY caught feelings for her. But for Raeda maybe after the final battle they kiss, get back together. And then it can skip to a few months to their wedding.

Worst case scenario they get a Korrasami ending where they just walk off holding hands or something and then get confirmed on Twitter, like we're still in 2014 before Gay marriage was legalized in the US.

After everything they've been through. I want Raeda to kiss ONSCREEN and confirmed to get back together IN THE SHOW.

Luz!! She reminds me a lot of myself when I was in middle school and I just love her sm uogh… She’s just a really great character overall to me and some of her plot lines were things I would’ve really appreciated as a kid to see!

Fascinating to me how in the pilot, Luz found the Boiling Isles because of AMITY... Because she's trying to return this exchange student's passport to her. She chases a bus on foot the entire way just to repay her kindness. And so she follows her through the door.

I think the final version works just as well, considering it emphasizes Luz's connection to Eda and King, as well as her relationship with her mother. But there's also something special about how in the pilot, Luz's pretty obvious crush, and hopes of finding a friend in someone who unwittingly showed her kindness (though she doesn't realize it was unintentional) is what leads her into the Boiling Isles. It's what begins everything, it's what starts her journey and helps her find the place and people where she belongs.

There's just kind of a parallel between Luz trying to return the passport, and Luz wanting to hold onto the book, her father's last gift to her representing their mutual weirdness and kinship with one another. And there would’ve been another Lumity in parallel in them being students of two worlds. The crush vibes are so much more explicit and present from the start, it's like the queer aspect of Luz and the show is intertwined, since the beginning, since the very inciting incident, with the weirdness of our cast and their found family dynamics and everything. Like you can't discuss the weirdness without mentioning the queerness, without acknowledging it as just as much the foundation to the story and Luz.

Plus there's Amity rejecting the drawing from Luz, only for it to be appreciated by Eda unknowingly... Once again, someone, unwittingly, is kind to Luz. But in this case Eda is more explicit about encouraging and welcoming Luz, and it makes me wonder if Amity necessarily dismissed the drawing as much, or only did so because she was around her peers? She's much more of a traditional, popular girl prep in the pilot. But then she DOES throw away the drawing, and her seeing Luz later could represent the shift in attitude, her reconsideration.

It's just. You have the mother figure. You have the love interest. And they bring and affirm Luz's ties to the Boiling Isles respectively. Luz doesn't get the approval she was initially looking for, but her quest for it leads her to find approval from someone else; And obviously, her chances with Amity aren't entirely off of the table! Her girlfriend brought her here. She lit up Luz's life in a way, as the final version had Luz barge into Amity's life and light up hers without meaning to.

Plus Eda not being the friend Luz expected or was looking for -they cross paths by pure coincidence- but being the one she truly starts off with in the end. Like how in the final show Luz doesn't quite get what she's looking for, but she finds something else just as great and beautiful. Luz braces herself to be mocked through her drawing by Eda only to be supported and encouraged! All three of these characters are cut from the same cloth, tied together. I love it.

PANEL SIX: "You'll never guess what just happened!" says Hunter excitedly. Caleb turns to him, wiping the clay off his hands with a towel. "Violence and destruction of property?" "Well, yes," answers Hunter, "but--." PANEL SEVEN: Belos stands at Hunter's side and rests his hand on his shoulder. Hunter puts his hands on his hips and smiles at Caleb proudly. "Lilith Clawthorne has finally captured the Owl Lady," says Belos. PANEL EIGHT: Caleb clutches his shirt as he looks at them, horrified. eyes that went from reddish pink to brown to represent flapjack’s magic inside him

not to mention he’s like the most beautifully developed character on the show with the most complexities. he’s also great anxiety rep! hunter noceda is truly the best toh character… well, tied with luz and eda!

In all honesty, it was pretty obvious that Luz was never going to only live on either the Boiling Isles or the Human Realm. This entire show has been about not putting yourself in just one box (or in Eda's word not being a "one witch, one coven"). She chose every class in Hexside and she has a shape shifting Palisman. Her family consists of a human mom, a deceased father, a basilik sister, a Grimwalker brother, a witch mother, and a Titan brother.

Luz is not tied to one thing because everything is her thing.
