The few people that like or repost my long winded, highly specific mentally ill, trauma diary posts remind me why I do this.
It’s not just good for me to get it off my chest, to have as a reminder of where I’ve been and hopefully track progress.
But at the core of this, when I started doing this literally no one was talking about it. Few people logged their raw, ugly bits. Without a bow to decorate it. I felt so fucking alone.
I started this in hopes of teaching other people who were feeling completely alone, unseen and invalidated. But if you just typed in your disease into tumblr (mostly pmdd & thyroid disease) you would be bombarded with a barrage of incoherent, unhinged, feral, devastated posts from yours truly. Which I’m sure is not always a fun feeling, you suddenly feel less alone.
That’s all I truly want. Even if it’s only a handful of people. I just want them to know they’re not alone. 🖤

my dr called me today after our appointment bcus she noticed when they took my blood pressure earlier at the office it was concerningly low. its a possible side effect of my medications so i have to go off them for a bit to see if thats the cause.
also apparently i dont have hyperthyroidism just yet, but i do have the antibodies that're present when the body attacks the thyroid, as well as a low result from one of the blood tests i had done, which is what supposedly indicates that my body is at a high risk of or is in the process of developing hyperthyroidism; so i have to be pretty careful going forward. my pcp set me up with a referral to an endocrinologist tho, so hopefully they can order more specific testing to get a better idea of wtf is actually going on in there.
the thing is that my auntie was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in her early twenties, & i suspect my mom (her sister) has hypothyroidism as well, so i have to take these results seriously

Hey I just read your post about how hard it was to get your thyroid disorder diagnosis, and I just wanted to say that I had NO IDEA your TSH doesn't respond until your T3/T4 have been low for a long time. My TSH recently changed enough that I got levothyroxine for it and it helped a whole heaping lot of my issues, I had no idea it was messed up, since I got my TSH tested last year and it came back normal, that was when I first started being perpetually exhausted and in more pain. A more recent retest is the only reason it got treated at all. I wrote it off as something else after the first test was normal but I'm realizing that I probably shouldn't have. Thank you for sharing your story.
I'm glad that helped you understand. It's really ridiculous that doctors use that for diagnosis, because TSH is produced by the pituitary gland, and thus doesn't say anything about what your thyroid gland is or isn't producing, or how what is produced by your thyroid gland is being handled by your body. This page has a good explanation of the different tests, and what is going on in your body that the tests tell you about. https://www.drchristianson.com/update-testing-your-thyroid-and-the-definitive-guide-to-optimal-ranges/

He did this by boiling the thyroid glands of a thousand sheep, and named the precipitate, a mixture of the thyroid hormones, 'iodothyrin'. Measures of significance between groups had been calculated using the χ2 test and evaluation of variance . Individuals with thyroid eye illness might carry genes for, or have a genetic susceptibility to, thyroid eye disease. For hyperthyroidism, the therapy will rely upon what's inflicting the additional production of hormone. For many, an antithyroid medicine that blocks the thyroid’s production of hormones will be tried first. Thyroid disease is identified by your signs, an exam, and exams. The inferior thyroid artery arises from the thyrocervical trunk, a department of the subclavian artery. It ascends vertically after which curves medially to enter the tracheoesophageal groove in a plane posterior to the carotid sheath. Most of its branches penetrate the posterior aspect of the lateral lobe, as proven beneath.
