There's something I've been dwelling on while taking my pause from here, and I wanted to share it with y'all before I continued on with the blog.

While I am genuinely happy to encourage any creative growth, I sincerely hope we're also gaining the perspective growth that comes along with the lessons.

For example: yes, the hairstyles are very pretty and exciting and cool, and I'm glad you think that! But I also want to reemphasize that the rest of the lessons- the reasons WHY you didn't know about those styles or how to search for them, the reasons WHY hair design IS that serious to Black viewers- are just as, if not more, important. It will help you in moving forward to understand the expectations behind how to better create your Black characters. You can't be as intentional about it if you don't understand WHY it's important!

I made this blog to give y'all a chance, essentially. The benefit of the doubt that you want to learn. I just hope that we're actually using it. Otherwise, what's my point here, you know? 😅 I just wanted to open up about how I was feeling, so there wasnt anything sitting on my chest.
