I think most VC fans agree with Anne's take on Lestat though, they see him as faultless which the narrative validates cause no one ever challenges his version of events, like we are all just supposed to assume it was Louis who lied and nothing else, that's why they're all up in arms about what happened in the show cause "he would never do that". Hell even with the show some of them think he didn't deserve the murder and fully blame Claudia for causing the rift.
yea, its tricky cuz no one not the meta narrative or in universe actually challenges lestat when it comes to his response to louis’s interview, but id say characters in tvc absolutely challenge lestat’s character [his disposition, ways of thinking, actions& shit] & get on his ass heavy. so i feel like that implicitly should put his perspective in question the same as any other character’s [at least it did for me] but ur rite in that the vc fanbase esp the OGs do fall in line w rice’s own opinions. it certainly didnt help that shed get on ppl’s asses for writing fic, disagreeing with her, had a wide variety of contradictory, differing opinions on her own work& ppls interpretation of the text that didnt agree perfectly w/ however she felt at the time.. yk the whole interrogating the text from the wrong perspective essay on amazon reviews lol. yet certainly we are all bonded in discussing an adaptation of her literary canon which says sum yk. i think expecting a visual medium to perfectly adapt a book line by line is impossible if not borderline ignorance, but an excellent adaptation will show what made the source a good, veritable commentary on humanity. i dont think ppl should fly into deranged clear the searches campaigns when amc does use the merits of rice’s work & interrogates lestat’s crueler ways more than his cruel actions that was glossed over in the source [bc rice had diff intentions/views on it]. i think the nature of visual adaptations done decades after the source mean as viewers, we are already exposed to multiple threads from tvc (tvl, tva, allusions to the mayfair family, the talamasca, the whole impending vampire apocalypse which may or may not be a red herring this time, claudia’s diary, etc) that show this is not only louis’s interview, but a question on the fruit of memory itself. what is recollection to an immortal creature but a drop in the ocean? what does it mean to be immortal, if not living the same live over. and over. and over. again? anyways likeeee tbf at least anne rice had an excuse for why she was so crazy about lestat, he was her muse & based off the man she stayed with all her life. honestly if i made a trio based off me, my old work& our abortion and it blew up like this id delete my presence from everyone’s minds lol. but. them fans dont have an excuse cuz thats not what lestat means to them. ofc these books & lestat’s chara may have been pivotal in their coming of age but i also think as now adults, they should accept w the infamy of tvc & its adaptations mean varying ppl w different frames of reference will have different takes on this. yea, as kids we cant articulate an understanding of dv and intimidation tactics , but as adults u should be able to re evaluate fictional dynamics & have mature discourse w/o flashing out on ppl or going on clear the searches campaigns. i guess the existence of rl martyrs for these fictional vampires answer the question ppl had yesterday on antoinette too? lol

yeah i think he’s not bucky. OOC. and like, not for stupid shit, but when it comes to stuff that matters. i always thought bucky has a solid moral compass (similar to steves). i mean just from what we’ve seen in canon, idk if this is just my own intrepratations, but anyway, i don’t agree with his actions, i dont agree with him asking sam to put his safety on the line with the ‘you helped steve with the accords i think you should help me’ ok bucky you were taken in as a refugee by an untouchable nation, sam was put into a supermax prison steve had to break him out of, and then was on the run as a fugitive for two years. the absolute NERVE.
and like, the man he breaks out of prison is z*mo? really? that’s his ABUSER. i don’t understand why no one else seems upset by this. that’s not bucky. OOC. if he wanted any help from z*mo, he could have asked for him to help from behind the bars he very much deserves to be behind. if he refused to help, oh well, too bad, buh bye. i dont understand who thought this was a good idea. are we forgetting z*mo intentionally triggered bucky into going into his winter soldier programming, which resulted in bucky killing again? the thing he did not want to do? he literally says, over and over again, ‘i dont do that anymore’ and ‘i dont want to kill anyone’ and ‘(resigned) wheres the fight’.
im not gonna describe *that scene* that triggered me very badly, if you dont know what im talking about im sorry but i cannot physically write the words. but im very very upset at the writers for a throwaway line that implies past sexual abuse* knowing FULL well the majority of their demographic who like bucky/identify with him are in fact women/afab, and like, going by the statistics alone, would find something like this 1. triggering and 2. a slap in the face. just, for why? what purpose did that line serve, actually? was it necessary? for plot progession? (*though, i maintain, z*mo doesnt know shit, he’s being a dick bc thats half his personality, and talking shit bc thats the other half of his personality). but yeah. one of the major reasons i dont like whoever it was that writes bucky in this show.
another thing, the obsession with the shield? putting all that blame onto sam? i mean... i understand he’s upset about being abandoned by his best friend (and arguably only friend, i guess?) but like. shut up about the shield. shut up about the shield!!! where’s the ‘the little guy from brooklyn, im following him’ like bucky never gave a shit about captain america. whats going on through his head actually? bc like.. if there’s things he’s not saying, we won’t fucking know about them, will we?
i honestly dont know what the writers are doing, i don’t know whether they’re completely misunderstanding his characer, or trying to foreshadow bucky going to the dark side, or whats going on. bc at this point he looks more like an antagonist at the very least, if not outright villain.
the only accurate bucky content i have seen so far is like, him and sam acting like a married couple, him making nerdy references, and the flashback scene in wakanda which is the only time i have seen sebastian stan actually acting.
i don’t know who this fool is, but it’s not bucky.
as for the show in general, im not liking what im seeing, and no i dont need to watch it to form an opinion. not gonna put myself through however many hours of mediocre content. i never had high hopes about it, but this half-assed storyline with the flag smashers (clearly a poor attempt at portraying antifas as the enemy), the super soldier serum, the dollar store captain america, z*mo??? why is he even here????
sam not having enough of the spotlight...in his own goddamn show... like. idk. i think he deserved something of his own. a better storyline. something that’s about *him*, his life, his struggles. with bucky as his sidekick. sam, pretending to be too sensible to run into crazy shit, bucky, resigned, being dragged along, being sam’s wingman, his support. *thats* their dynamic. from what i have seen about sam’s scenes, he seems to be more or less in character, imo, but i just... feel like he’s being sidelined. in his own show.
THE THERAPY/THERAPIST. I hate EVERYTHING about it. from her demeanor, attitude towards her client, not addressing him by his preferred name, her judgmental tone/statements, her belittling/dismissing bucky’s pain, her ‘rules’ and just. everything. everything. for ONCE i would like to see an ACCURATE portrayal of therapy in media. because it’s the opposite. the exact opposite of this. there’s a long thread from twitter i reblogged that goes more into detail, but i think like, it’s one of those things that really piss me off. therapy is about creating a safe space, putting your patients comfort first, listening, empathising, not judging, not mocking, not disrespecting, helping your patient open up, help them recover and make progress at their own pace. i mean. its so disgusting to see this. i’ve never had professional psychologist training, not as part of my degree or anything else, and i wrote a fic with steve going to therapy that’s 100% better than this bullshit we’re being served (and at the time i wrote the fic, i had never been to therapy, only counselling, which is very different). how come? why cant they, with their budget and their resources, their ability to conduct extensive research and even hire consultants, not do a better job with this part of the show? disappointing. truly.
maybe i don’t know exactly what’s going on, plotwise, or whatever, but like, if i dont like what i’m seeing, why would i invest more time to find out more about the show? the mcu has been steadily declining since 2016, lets be real. civil war, infinity war, endgame... this was all an absolute shitshow. fatws can only do so much with the canon they are being given to work with, without outright retconning everything, but even so... it’s weak. i always thought the writers wouldnt be able to write anything thats half as good as the stuff fans come up with and... i think i was right.

hm well skam nl is my favorite and their social media game is trash LMAOOO so generally No but i do feel like remakes who DO have such a good presence kind of elevate the show and i think it’s pretty heartwarmin to see some remakes go sm farther than skam with social media and puttin out educational and IN CHARA resources like skames does this so well and i feel like in that way, the team is really really spreadin skam’s spirit via these resources (like joana’s billion bpd awareness ig accounts and lucas rubio’s yt channel)
2. Least favourite clip of the show? Why?
tbh there are definitely some duds but probably one of the clips with sana gettin herself into a hole in s4 just bc some were hard to watch cus cringey or yikes .... idk i cant think of others LMAO

season 4 - i always felt a little ??? w noora being sana’s bff ig bc from s1-s3 it didn’t Feel like they were that close like even in noora’s pov, sana wasn’t really a part of it that much ?? like eva was more of noora’s bff ?? so i feel like it would have made more sense if maybe sana spoke more with chris or vilde bc sana and vilde eventually seemed to get closer esp with kosegruppa and chris has always been by sana’s side ?? idk that always confused me

IJXDWQOIJJ yes .... remakes-wise, people hate skam nl s2’s last half but i enjoyed it for the most part ... i think the pacing was off for the last ep but personally, clip 50 made up for it and is p god tier imo ..... and also don’t think the first half of ep10 is enough to discredit the entire season bc i rlly loved seeing liv’s pov and have sm fave moments from the season
but skam wise, omg might get a lil controversial w this one IM SORRY !!! im bein honest and its Just my opinion ok
personally s2 got me more invested than s1 and i don’t think its a super bad season like i didnt really say many problems wrong with it until i got on tumblr wiejioqjoiqjq i was sort of interested in the questions that the noora/william dynamic brought up which is, as expressed in william’s war speech to noora, that nothing is ever black/white which i feel was a huge message and feeds into the ‘you never know what ppl are going through’ theme of the season ... like i like the idea of someone like noora, who can have a black/white mentality (as seen in the first clip of s2 when she tells vilde that they can’t have the tannin company as their sponsor bc they objectify women or smth but misses the context and what it could mean for the bus monetarily bc shes caught up in bein ‘woke’) having to break out of that and see more than one side ... and i think remakes like skam austin expanded on this idea well like when zoya was like ‘must be so nice being right all the time’ which i Do feel like is an important for youth to know today .... bc i think its so easy to get caught up in the idea of being so objectively right and morally superior that people lose sight of the more nuanced characteristics to life ... (omg long ramble BUT)
also LMAOOOOO this one might be more controversial as it pertains to bench scene s4 ok oops again doNT GOTTA AGREE !! ........ but i feel like the scene had a lot of good intentions ... i was def kind of cringing a bit tho bc i understand the subject’s sensitivity and how these topics are hard to talk about but i genuinely feel like they both made Some points and should listen to each other .... like as Hard and as maybe ‘unwoke’ it is to admit, unfortunately you sort of do have to answer the tough questions bc that way we learn from each other .... and i perfectly understand why some ppl wouldn’t want to do this and i certainly am tired abt havin to answer shit abt my sexuality or stupid male questions abt women but if u dont answer them, people do go lookin for answers still and the internet is such a shitty place that its pretty easy (esp with youtube’s algorithm) to lead you to ignorant ppl and perhaps radicalization .... questions help us to better understand our community and sometimes they can have good intentions too but we have to ask and answer them or else people will make up answers (which ive literally seen and its honestly worse to see fake as shit and UNINFORMED answers bc ppl did not want to ask you or ppl of ur identity, esp when they’re already startin from a place of hate .... but i rather have ppl ask me patronizing questions than have them spread false info bc that can do much more harm in the long run) however i DO think that isak should also consider sana’s side and i sort of wish we saw him conceding more bc they both have smth to learn from one another, like sana shouldn’t just be learnin from isak, isak needs to learn from sana too

9. What did you learn from the show?
omg honestly too much to write here tbh ..... but if it says anythin im (very slowly) in the works of a three part skam essay about basically how skam teaches us to be better humans and how to better treat the people we care about diowjqioj essentially the three biggest themes of the show: you never know what someone is going through so always be kind, always communicate with your friends, and no person is ever alone and i feel like these are definitely rlly good messages to live by (also livet er nå BITCH !!!)
10. What is your favourite headcanon about your favourite characters?
omg tbh i could not tell u at all how the skam charas are doing except i hope even is okay thats all im thinkin of ok .... OIWXIOJX omg remakes wise tho ..... honestly im so bad at this girl IDK !!!!! LMAO i have to really think i have a bit of vdh and dutch even but thats bc we know like Zero abt them so its easier oijwiojqio idk liv and noah bein cute as shit ..... Hi! May I ask how—if you’ve ever—you would deal with negative comments attached to your work? Like, a part of me knows that reacting to a small comment (ex: “this ship is forced and it sucks”) is ultimately pointless and draining, but there’s always that thought of “oh maybe I can explain this without seeming passive aggressive”. My current solution is to just simmer in silence until I stop feeling indignant.

well, there’s usually two kinds of comments u can get, one attached to your own skills/abilities and one to the actual content
1 when they shit on your content (eg: ship, content rating, subject, etc) that’s more of a morality thing where they try to drag you down because they don’t like something you do, and that’s. censure to its finest, bcs they want to dictate what YOU should and shouldn’t enjoy based on their own wants and tastes and honestly
they can go fuck themselves if they do that
that only shows how they don’t really understand what fanworks are. fanfic/fanart is to explore corners n stuff of things even if they aren’t canon. even if they don’t make sense to anyone but you (and let’s be honest, it’d be rare u don’t find at least a small set of ppl who share ur interest for any one thing at any given time)
you have the right to do the fuck u want without anyone trying to bully you into something. you can, though, if engaged with respect, mediate. (the difference between ‘this ship sucks n it’ll never be canon so stop writing for it’ vs ‘im uncomfortable w this ship, could you please tag it so i can blacklist, thank u)
so like anyone who shits on the stuff u like can piss off. even if it’s weird, even if it’s out there or questionable, u still have the right to pursue in ur safe space at ur own pace.
it’s useless to engage w this sort of person because they will not care a bit about ur point. it’s rare someone actively shits on u and then stops to listen to ur opinion.
also some people try to polish others so ‘only if u have this one reason can u like this thing otherwise ur bad’ and like. why do i have to air all my life and personal identity to a stranger online so they can feel justified not to shit on me????

the second kind of comment you can get is one that belittles your writing/art/chosen creative media and like. make it personal. this is iffy bcs negative stuff is always hurtful.
even when it’s put in a gentle way, it’s still negative and can still make you feel like shit, esp if you’re depressed or take things personally about things u create. that’s normal, and if you didn’t care you wouldn’t be making anything, right?
so even here there’s a difference in how u react.
when it’s put in a way that its clearly meant to be offensive, you have the right to be annoyed, esp if you never asked for concrit to begin with. ppl can offer you concrit if you asked for it, but they cannot come at you expecting you to accept and agree on negative shit said about your things when you didn’t ask for ir, esp if they’re mean or assholey about it.
the fuck they here for anyway? you’re enjoying things and learning as u create, meanwhile they here to shit on other people’s fun. clearly there’s someone failing here and MASSIVELY, and it’s not you.
if you receive honest concrit (tho sometimes it might be put a bit abruptly so it still comes off weird but leeways happen), you have to take a breathe and see how much of it is true and if you can, steam on it, let the hurt pass by you (bcs as i said, negative comments are always personal and it can still sting to know u did something wrong) and then accept it and learn from it.
when i started creating in english and for a long time after, i was glad to receive concrit that helped me get better. i was... new and wonky, and grammar wasn’t really my strong point, and i used synonyms not quite right for the context, and oh boy did i shit a lot on paragraphs and stuff.
if i didnt have ppl who thought i could be better coming to offer me suggestions in a non confrontational way, i think i wouldn’t have progressed as much as i did.
at the same time, knowing i was failing at something even if I KNEW i couldn’t be perfect still stung a lot. but u gotta learn to see that its a chance to improve even if it hurts. you can always do better.
meanwhile at first, flames like ‘u r disgusting for shipping de gayz!!! delete this crap!’ made me want to burn down a house. now i just want to burn down the hater. u_u character development at its finest!

@veraverorum knows this cuz they asked me to beta their stuff and uh. sometimes they need a bit of a scolding. but i love my boo even when i have to repeatedly hit them w a broom. im grateful they’re patient and accepting of me hitting them repeatedly with a broom. (repeating concept bcs it needs to be) and stuff.
also boy my first beta was a blessing and even after they disappeared from my life too soon w no explanation, they helped this tiny fan get better a lot.
sometimes being pointed out something still hurts, but u just. breathe and if u need to steam a bit u can, and if you need to vent w friends u can also do that, and rage w them and get it off ur chest, but ultimately, u just pick urself up and keep going ye?
and honestly. who’s the winner here in the end? u who create n keep going n get better despite sum assholes

i want to say that you should write a fic that you yourself would read. there's no point catering to people's specific preferences, because there's always someone who is going to disagree with how you've done something. as long as everything is properly tagged and isn't problematic (racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic/includes underage idols) then write how you want to write :) xx

Hmmm if I guess people write it between, let’s say, two BTS members, the author perhaps just wants to write about forbidden love because yeah we all know such love isn’t possible. hi!!! i'm curious as to how the admins feel about lip synching for performances? on one hand i think that the purpose of music shows is to show off the singing and dancing talents of idols (and if ppl just wanted to see the choreography/visual aspects there's the mv and dance practices) but on the other hand i can TOTALLY understand bc its really hard for even the best vocalists to sing well and dance at the same time. also, what is a good indicator that a performance has "live" singing?

sullflower: I honestly don’t mind as long as they deliver a good performance. I prefer live singing at concerts tho. It definitely makes the performance more enjoyable plus you kinda paid for it. :-)

heonies: I honestly don’t care all that much if they sing live or not on music shows. They’re just for promoting the song and themselves whilst entertaining the fans. Some groups promote so often that they’d probably kill their voices if they sang 100% live every single time. Not to mention, everyone knows it’s near impossible to sound like you ate the cd when you’re dancing around, and trying to hype up the audience (also when you’ve barely rested/slept/eaten). Concerts, however, I believe they should be giving it their all since fans pay to see those. But anyway, so long as they can actually sing, and did record the song in the first place, it doesn’t phase me when they lip-sync/pre-record vocals.
jiaerrs: i like it when idols sing and dance live, but sometimes it’s better to hear lipsyncing when they’re not at their best vocally. i hate this idea of having your mic on is good enough [looks at the idols who shout and do adlibs that are off-key], and sometimes it’s better to hear prerecorded vocals than to hear someone cracking again for their high notes or someone “skrrting” for several minutes. also, it gives them a break bc you can damage your voice if you don’t let it rest. i think a good indicator on whether or not they’re singing live is to check how in sync the sound is to their mouths. you can catch literally anyone who does this, even those who you know can sing their asses off. also, you can check their throats to see if it’s vibrating and hearing the imperfections of every performance. if every live sounds the same, it probably was pre-recorded and reused.
katypery: i personally prefer when idols sing and dance live so i stick to mr removed videos when i know they’re singing but the background music is too loud to hear their vocals. i don’t like watching performances when they’re lip synching even if their dance skills are considered good.
sunjis: i don’t really mind tbh. some groups focus on dancing, some on singing, some on both, and there’s no right or wrong. the most important thing is to deliver a good performance and promote their song.
lauxrent: I honestly don’t really care bc in the end more important is how the performance looks overall. Also a lot of really skilled singers find it hard to sing and dance simultaneously so I don’t think we should expect that from idols. I mean showing true vocal talent is nice sometimes and that’s why I like watching special stages with ballads and such but I don’t think that lip syncing during regular promotion is bad. Esp considering that they have a show every day and for each one they have to rerecord like five times. It’s certainly nice to see that some groups are able to do that, I just don’t think that inability to sing live AND dance means a lack of talent.
sooyulti: i understand lip synching only when an idol is sick, other than that, i don’t get why they should do it, especially if it’s a performance where they don’t dance. and a good indicator that a performance has live singing is the breathing? i mean, we can hear it when an idol is dancing (especially hard choreos) so i guess when we hear them breathing we can say it’s a live performance

prkchaeyoung:personally, i don’t think there’s anything wrong with lip syncing. most idols are tired when they step on the stage, and there’s so many other factors to consider that go on behind the scenes that might affect their performances. most groups these days release acoustic covers and/or perform their songs without choreography to show off their vocals and i think that’s really smart. that way on stage they can emphasize their dancing and stage presence and in performances like that they can focus on their vocals. and personally, i’m more of a choreography/dancing kind of person so i don’t focus on vocals much so that may be why i don’t mind lip syncing that much. that being said however, i don’t think EVERY performance put on should be lip synced. for indicators of “live” singing, i would say if u can hear their breath, then it’s probably live.
jeonghsk: i don’t personally mind lipsync if they don’t do /all/ the time. i agree w/ u about ur points about the performance aspects and thatsometimes, it’s probably not best to have live singing and intense dance moves bc at least one of those will be lackingbut i do personally love live singing more from an audience perspective
monoka:i don’t really care anymore, because most groups doesn’t need “good vocals” anymore to get popular but if someone always live sings it’s a + i also respect every idol who manage to live sing esp if they are MAIN VOCALS. i’m glad to stan ggs that doesn’t lipsync 24/7 :-)
seulge: live performances aren’t meant to show talent or whatever. they’re meant to entertain. the only way you can know someone is singing well is when they’re standing still and not dancing. lip synching is such a non-issue, i wish more fans were calmer about it. it’s why mr removed videos prove absolutely nothing as well. and yeah, it is extremely difficult to sing well and dance at the same time, you need a lot of stamina for that. at the end of the day, even this live singing sounds tricky. the “they sound like in the studio!!” is so?? ok fine, but if in the studio they strain and have zero technique in singing, it doesn’t matter, cuz they gonna be just as bad and messy live too. so my opinion on live performances is that… idc whether they sing live or not. it’s there for show, for ratings etc etc. it’s meant to be fun, help promoting the songs and so on.

(different anon) i think it's less the length of time and more the stage of development that's being pointed out as an issue, like how 18 y/o are already adults and 15 y/o still kids- its like a college student dating a highschool sophmore. and even assuming that they're both liking each other, that still puts them on uneven ground in terms of maturity that can lead to a power imbalance, even if its unintentional
