Okay since mp100 is on Netflix how much do you wanna bet that people are gonna go into it expecting a comedy, knowing Reigen from the memes, not aware it'll snap your spine in half and then gently piece it back together and give you instructions on the healing process. Like I watched it expecting a fun comedy show I could bond with my friend over. I feel like we've given everyone a very incorrect idea of what mp100 is about and I'm very curious as to how many people will watch it for the jokes and then accidentally get hooked on it. Which tbh I'm very excited for. And also same. Come closer this is an innocent funny action show it won't leave you reevaluating how you view your relationships to other people and how you view your relationship with yourself. It will definitely not hit every neurodivergent weird kid square in the jaw. Come closer.

Scum Villain au where Shen Jiu finds out about what happened to YQY some other way than just being told by the man himself.
How? Not important. Maybe he pressured MQF and SQH until they both gave the pieces they knew and put this together. Maybe he found paperwork about it. Maybe YQY did tell him, but he was drunk or drugged or something and so he doesn’t remember telling.
The point of this post is I think it would be funny if SJ, mostly having forgiven YQY but still angry that he just didn’t tell him the truth for years, let’s YQY suffer for a little long. He wasn’t necessarily overly mean to him anymore, but he does now just say things to see what YQY would do.
Like, if it was between me or LQG, who would you choose? Hm? What if I murdered someone hmmm? What if I spent all your money, hmmmmmm?
What SJ was trying to do was stress YQY out (ok, part of it was him seeing where he stood now but shh), but YQY only gets a little stressed at the problems his answers would cause SJ. Because he totally would chose SJ over anyone! But that would make people angry at SJ. He would help cover up a murder, but SJ could be sent to jail! He would give SJ any money he wanted, but the sect might not be happy with either of them?
SJ learns very quickly how high up he still is in YQY’s eyes. It makes him feel powerful. He also learns very quickly that if he really, really wanted something, all he had to do is call YQY Qi-Ge and YQY folds immediately.
He uses that one a lot, when others couldn’t see. He still has a reputation to uphold after all.
YQY, meanwhile, has no idea what’s happening. He has no idea why SJ is suddenly being so nice to him. There’s no way that he has forgiven him, after all, so it has to be something else?
He starts to think that SJ is either about to leave the sect or dying. Both terrify him. YQY drags a very unwilling SJ to MQF immediately.
When it’s clear that he isn’t dying, YQY thinks that SJ is about to leave the sect. He panics, and does the first thing he could think of- Ask SJ if YQY could leave the sect with him. (He asks this in front of MQF, who does not want to be an audience for this.)
SJ is flattered that YQY would leave the sect with him. He takes it as a wedding proposal. (He has forgotten that YQY never knew that SJ knew about the caves and the sword)
YQY doesn’t know when they got engaged, or why a wedding was happening, but he is not complaining. The night before the wedding, YQY breaks down and tells SJ about everything. SJ panics, and not wanting YQY to know that he has know for at least a year at this point and had just been messing with him, acts like this is entirely new information! Wow, YQY, that sure was awful! I am so angry about this information that I’ve never heard of before.
LQG thinks that SJ had tricked YQY into marrying him. Or that YQY had very bad taste.

I find very funny how in the books, they (Rick) tried so hard to sell Annabeth as the perfect match for Percy, and then they tried really hard to make the couple seen as the goal in relationships matter, AND THEN RICK GOES AND GIVES US NICO DI ANGELO. You know, the 13 year old who took Percy to the Styx so he heightened the chances that he wouldn't DIE, the 13 yo who turn on his father, A GOD, the second Hades tried to hurt Percy, the solid reason why they didn't die in the battle of Manhattan in the first place AND HIS SOLID MOTIVATION WAS THAT HE DIDN'T WANT PERCY TO DIE, all this poor kid wants is for Percy to live, and he goes to extremes to garantee this, even if Percy hate him afterwards, at least he's make sure he'll survive. Nico wasn't even with the Olympians, he was on Percy's side, and Percy just so happen to be on the Olympians side, I'm fully convinced that If Percy have had said "Fuck it" in BotL and just told Nico to just turn around and fight along Kronos with him (cofcof), Nico would had done it, he hadn't even meet Hades yet.

Another ramble about Merlin
I think something so special about Merlin is that it does defy a natural stereotype we would have about the characters.
Tumblr media
When Merlin is first told about his destiny, he doesn't deny his importance. Merlin kinda just accepts that because he has magic, he is important. He just didn't like the idea of having to protect Arthur. Merlin from the start has this confidence in him that we wouldn't expect from someone that looks like him.
Arthur's taunts and insults aren't really ever shown to affect Merlin that much. Merlin takes it and spits it right back out! And throughout the series, Merlin never really has his doubts about being able to protect Arthur. Sure he grows more paranoid as about a million people want the King dead but he's more worried about being able to hide it from Arthur rather than not being able to actually do it. Merlin is so sure that he'll die first, that he will die either protecting Arthur or having finished his duty. And then there's Arthur.
Tumblr media
Arthur is introduced as someone so cocky and confident. And he is! But Arthur has never been confident about being a King. All of his self-assurance relies on that maybe, maybe, sometime in the future he'll be ready to assume the throne. Much of the show is Merlin doing his best to rid Arthur's mind of years of self-doubt.
Arthur's death is devastating because yes, the viewers weren't expecting it but neither was Merlin!
Tumblr media
Even though Merlin was told repeatedly that death was Arthur's fate, I really don't think the idea of Merlin failing at his destiny ever occurred to him. He was so sure he'd be able to protect Arthur until the end because he's Merlin--Emrys, born of magic, magic itself--While we see Arthur accepting it at the end. We see Arthur's even last shreds of self-doubt, fully believing that most of his accomplishments wouldn't have happened without Merlin.
Tumblr media
I think the two of them made significant developments as the show progressed. Merlin was confident but it was amazing watching him grow into such a terrifying force of nature. And Arthur gaining his footing in being a king, learning to trust others. Ah, I miss Merlin so much. I wish we got to see more of Merlin post-magic reveal. I wish we would've seen him being able to perform magic at his peak, with Arthur's trust and support. More BAMF Merlin please!
To see this show under better writing, oh what a world it would be.

Started an Astarion origin playthrough and I've been trying to play him as close to his "canon" as possible in terms of how he interacts with others. In doing so I've been thinking about who on earth he would romance out of the other origin characters as there is obviously no Tav to seduce and manipulate. Who would he latch on to for protection? My first thought was Shadowheart, since both of them have their secrets. But thinking further, my mans is nosy as fuck and would want to be all up in her business. If he found out from the rip that the artifact she was carrying was what was keeping him from turning into a mindflayer, I think he would steal that shit so fast and dip out. If he didn't know it was what was keeping them from turning, I think he'd probably try to at least figure out what it was and if it was worth anything. I don't think he'd care about her following Shar, but I do think he wouldn't be convinced she would protect him if Shar demanded Shadowheart abandon him. I think she would see through his bravado if he tries to seduce her and not fall for it. Next thought was Lae'zel. She's strong, fierce, good in a fight, and closer to morally grey like Astarion. She doesn't care about helping others over herself, and actively disapproves of it. I think it's possible he could worm his way under her stony exterior, but unlikely that he could keep her on the hook. She seems much more interested in something casual romantically and (in my experience) will choose to sleep with either Astarion or Wyll at the tiefling party if Tav rebuffs her. I think Lae'zel would view Astarion as an asset, but she gets real spicy about his vampirism. They're also inherently at odds as she will stop at nothing to rid herself of the tadpole, but Astarion wants to control it. In my personal headcanon, Gale and Astarion bicker constantly, so trying to imagine them together at all doesn't really make sense to me, but for the sake of the thought experiment let's do it. I think Astarion just finds Gale insufferable and can't get past it. Having to find magical items to feed to Gale would annoy him since they're now completely useless to the party at a point where Gale's damage output is pretty low. Additionally, Gale is a slowburn romance and Astarion is tryna FUCK. Gale has a lot of emotional baggage (and this isn't me saying Astarion doesn't because we all know he does), and Astarion doesn't have time to sort through all that if he's trying to secure an alliance with seduction. I think Wyll is a top contender. He's such a do-gooder that I think he would protect Astarion no matter what, even from the rip. I do, however, think Wyll's desire to help people would grate on Astarion, as we see it does in a "good" Tav run. That may not put Wyll out of the running, but I think his need for a more "traditional" romance would. Once again, Astarion needs to seduce or his plan won't work. I think it's possible Wyll might still fall for that seduction, even without the sex, but Astarion's tried and true methods will not work. Karlach is the other top contender in my mind. Yes, the seduction would physically not work since he can't touch her at the beginning of the game, but we know she's satisfied with just words for a while. Karlach is so starved for touch and affection that I think Astarion would pick up on that right away and use that to his benefit. I think in trying to keep her on the hook without being able to touch her, he would absolutely fall for her. She's so endearing and the second she gets her engine fixed and he can touch her, I think he would TRY his typical "seduce to protect me" tactic but at that point he might be in too deep. She's also v strong, BIG, and always warm, and we know our baby boy is always cold!!

jj is gay and a bottom and I have evidence to back my claims
I’m was a big believer in jj not being straight from the minute I first saw him, even before knowing jjpope existed as a ship
it was around the time season 4 of stranger things. I found out about something called “the hanky code” that queer men in the 80 used to signal to other queer men that they were gay
The placing of the hanky, in either the left or right back pocket of the leg wear, would communicate whether you were a top (dominant) or a bottom (submissive), with the left being for the former and the right for the latter.
and guess what? jj has his hanky in his right pocket which means he’s a bottom
Tumblr media
And yes it’s always in his right pocket:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean LOOK
Tumblr media
And no I don’t think it’s a fashion thing because my man has the worst fashion sense. It makes sense he wouldn’t be able to be out and proud in a place like the outer banks where 1)people are so god awful 2) his dad is like the worst human to grace the earth
headcanons aside I do belive this was a deliberate choice token for someone in the clothing department (someone who doesn’t really believes jj is straight or likes to think jj is a queer man) anyways I don’t think jj was supposed to be straight from the beginning of the show but the showeunners made him straight for the viewers because they wanted jiara to be canon..

Literally me trying to figure out when exactly Lawlight started sleeping with each other 😭 I'm 100% sure that by the time the Yotsuba Arc "Don't be so shy, Light-kun" panel shows up, they already were, (I'm a queer man who's had his fair share of situationships so source: trust me bro) - so possibly they started hooking up sometime after Light's amnesia? There are certaintly some points that make it sound semi plausible, a) being that L might have less trouble being intimate with who he assumes Kira to have been at some point becaus he is now innocent and doesn't remember killing. (He couldn't confirm Light to be Kira, so technically he's not quite sleeping with a mass murderer. Even though he knows, deep down, that this is bullshit, desire makes us pliable and behave illogically. And isn't this the actual base concept of Lawlight; the development of desire building on top of lacking logic and the very first time both L and Light experience the feeling of their power slipping out their palms multiple times throughout their friendship? So it doesn't seem too unreasonable to me.) and b) being that desire transcends even through Amnesia, and this might sound like just a silly dreamy thought but it's quite literally confirmed by Misa still having feelings for Light after she forgot about him being Kira. Which means, just because Light forgot playing Cat and Mouse with L, doesn't mean his body also forgot. Aside from the fact that he has a whole new bond to explore with L which means being able to get to know him all over again while being forced to spend every waking second chained up with him, if you feel some type of desire for someone I don't think Amnesia can get this out of your system. So, this is how I'm assuming it went; Option #1: Light is aware he wants L, but is confused about the source of his want. Being the mastermind he is, he figures it out pretty quickly though (we see him thinking of how he would act and do things if he was Kira/how he did things while he was Kira during Yotsuba arc pretty often) and while not having the memories of experiencing it, his body guides him to the conclusion, and sooner or later to L as well simply because of the mere concept of having played Cat and Mouse with L paired with their current dynamic and everything Light learned about L after his amnesia. He's such a hothead, unlike L im assuming he doesn't need to convince himself much. Option #2: Light is not aware he wants L (or perhaps just in denial about it) and for this one there would be a lot less thinking. Since here, it's mainly his body reacting to L's preserence, Light could easily play it off with mundane things/reasons for it, and rather spontaneously end up in an intimate situation with L (mouth faster than brain type) and then possibly figure out his source of attraction and that it must have developed during his time as Kira IF he was Kira at some point. Another thing is, it would have been way easier for Light to sleep with L /after/ losing his memory because he wouldn't be so tense around him anymore. Obviously, being a suspect would make anyone nervous, but surely it's no match to how it was before. Yotsuba Arc Light was drastically more relaxed around L, that's a fact to me, just think back of the time Light told Misa how hard it is for him to act casual and non suspicious in front of L before he lost his memories. Of course it's still possible they started hooking up before Light's amnesia, but that would take an insane amount of control in order to not let anything suspicious slip out during intimacy, and I doubt Light would take that risk. After all, resorting to an intimate situation in the first place would prove the lack of control, with both men being each other's nemesis.

being an artist is humiliating
I don't think this is talked about enough.
When you put something out in the world, you have to accept the possibility you won't get anything back.
Maybe you laid your heart bare on a one-shot that got zero comments. Maybe it was a painting you spent hours working on that didn't get the engagement you wanted.
I think it might have been the reason I stopped creating, for a little while at least.
I got obsessed with the stupid little numbers and metrics. Got happy when people liked my content, got sad when it resonated with no one. My relationship with what I created was determined by my perception of how many people engaged with it.
I waited day and night for the dopamine rush of notifications. I refresh my inbox, thinking that one of these days, somebody will leave some kind of affirmation, and somehow that recognition will imbue what I created with more significance. More value, writ-large.
If it got crickets, then I've failed somehow. It just wasn't good enough, I say to myself.
For the longest time, I felt like everything I created had to prove it belonged. It all felt like a race, except I didn’t know who I was competing against, only that I always felt left behind and couldn't keep up.
That's my fault. I can't help but measure myself.
But isn’t that the universal tendency? To view our past achievements as a benchmark we have to constantly overcome? Isn’t that why we’re so satisfied to look at old works we made and see how far we’ve come?
I remember what my old teacher used to say. “You’re only as good as your last piece.” As if art exists only to constantly prove itself. As if art is forever doomed to fight for its place in this world.
Well, I'm sick of it.
And so I'm realizing, in real-time, that I don’t want to fight for my place anymore. I don’t want to pander to some stupid algorithm.
I want to create.
I want to believe that a work of art is good simply because it exists out of necessity. Out of someone’s urgent desire to share a piece of their heart in the world because it would have been devastating to keep to themselves. That’s always been very beautiful to me. It's why there is so much heart in fanworks because of the sheer heart poured into it—a love that is as raw as an exposed nerve.
There are so many stories in your head, numerous in number and nebulous in form, that eventually come to fruition as these delicate, precious things you’ve been brave enough to summon into existence. To materialize in a timeline or dashboard. To somehow take up space in people’s minds if only briefly.
Maybe that in itself is the miracle. That what you conjured in your head somehow made its way into something real. Whether in tiny strokes or tiny letters on a tiny screen.
Somehow, the numbers next to them don’t seem to matter as much.

I cannot weigh in on a lot of the discourse™ about the pjo show (bc the only pjo related media I am familiar with is the musical lmao) but the fact that I've seen multiple ppl say not to criticise the show bc they don't want it to be cancelled is so crazy to me. Up until the era of streaming services, remember just how many shows would continue long past their prime into the double digits of seasons? But now people are worried that a show about one of the most popular children's book series made by the mega corporation to end all mega corporations will be cancelled bc some ppl on the internet don't like the writing. Like I don't think the show will be cancelled anytime soon, but the fact that so many popular shows are being cancelled left and right nowadays that it's something that ppl genuinely fear... fucking mad.

Ok so after rewatching that one powerpak video about myhouse.wad last night I've woken up with a lot of feelings and I'm going to share
This time around I read a trans metaphor in the mod, there's a very distinct degendering of Tom over the course of the mod, notably when you pick up the milkshake the text says "the kid needs a milkshake"
That on its own isn't that strong but what really strikes me is how little gendering there is elsewhere, Tom and Steve were both born in 1988 based on ages at death, they would've come of age in the 90s so not a time period where there's really a movement to give gender neutral upbringings to kids and yet we never really see anything indicating that Tom is a boy. No sporting equipment, no bright blue toys, nothing. In a mod with so much care and detail put into every little corner it feels like a glaring omission.
In fact in the burned house the items you can find are a diary with the pickup text, tarnished history and a teddy bear with the text, innocence lost. There is also the presence of the one item that's a stuffed animal that's got the text, snugs.
The animals aren't automatic indicators of being raised as a girl (although they can be read that way, they are gender neutral for little kids) but the diary is interesting. Again all of these are very minor things but when details of Steve's father's death are hidden away in his obituary and the hospital room, both of which you can easily miss, then it feels like meaning can be read into these items.
The two details that really made me think about this are the usage of Tom's last name in the hearts with him and Steve and the bloody airport bathroom. The fact that the initials used aren't S+T is odd but it sorta makes sense if Tom isn't his birth name. Whatever was his birth name is something he would've disliked if it was feminine and he felt dysphoria and so he would've used his last name instead, something that I know happens among some trans people.
Finally, in the airport bathroom we see that it specifically or bathrooms in general are a traumatic space. The pill bottles have an obvious connection, substance abuse is an easy line to draw with the environment of the bathroom. But what stands out most is the fact that the male and female signs on the bathrooms switch when you exit the bloodied bathroom. That's something so jarring that it feels like it has to have meaning, it's so easy to miss but feels so significant. It could just be intended to shock and offput but it's not scary, it's just a change. It's a literal gender change.
Some of the memories also seemingly take place in or around 2001, the fear of the plane crashing, JJ Hardy playing in 2001 and signing the baseball, the presence of Shrek. Tom and Steve would have been around 12-14 in this time period and that's when puberty starts for many people. The bathroom literally becomes a scene of bloody horror which makes sense if Tom experienced a period and it was traumatic for him.
Any of these on their own aren't conclusive but all together it feels like it weaves a larger message. Memories of childhood are degendered to avoid the pain of remembering of a dysphoria inducing childhood. Tom actively uses his last name instead of his first name. And the literal gender change of the bathroom signs. To me it reads that the character of Tom is a trans man and that plays further into the trauma of his childhood and I think whether done intentionally or not it makes sense to some extent.

im sure emily and afton would sit around and smoke if they ended up working in emily's workshop for too long...
standing, leaning against a workbench, looking out of the garage door and into the suburbs as the sun was just going down
afton would offer his partner a cigarette, and they'd just stand around. emily looking out with that blank stare, and afton just thinking. just thinking
mrs. emily stopping by to give her husband something to eat or drink, bringing afton a beer while she's there, and quietly telling him to get back inside before it got too cold or too late
and afton just thinking
i don't think it would last too long after emily's divorce

I’m new to interacting with the Starkid fandom and actors on social media, so maybe it’s normal for them to comment on people’s art, but I’ve posted exactly 2 Starkid drawings to insta and both times I’ve gotten comments and likes from the cast and I’m just sorta ??!?!?!!!?!!? Because my art has always flown under the radar and it really feels good to have people see it
