so here's my top 5 cpns from 2023

the inner mongolia saga: I decided to call it like that for everthing that happened from the moment xz went to film there. it started with yb's first selfie of 2023 and all the clowning about him perhaps visiting the loch set, the infamous black cloth, all the speculation about him owning a leica camera, the confirmation of him owning a leica camera, xz's birthday post that also had him posing with a leica camera, the camping pic, and everything culminating with yb's own pics taken in inner mongolia. honestly, september and october were such busy months to being a clown, I love how everything just developed little by little and fell like pieces of a puzzle.

the suspicious change on xz's filming schedule: when ybo reported that yb won't be able to participate in the star of the one and only promo period, everyone got worried, since when yb takes days off while sick? the next day tho, some reports came in; after days of going to film at a certain early time, xz was going a little bit late. "interesting" said every turtle in the world, "let's see how this continues". and boy, it did continue, casually until yb's recovery. a happy coincidence.

anniversary?: when we all thought nothing was toping the inner mongolia saga, november 19 happened. and to think everything started very innocently with yb updating his douyin and then everything scalating into the possibility of them sorting out the seriousness of their relationship one november 19... I honestly loved how everyone started to bring up years of clues and how it just made sense.

wedding outfit: this one is very self explanatory, their weinbo night outfits that strangely looked like wedding outfit. I would have loved to see them both walking out the red carpet but we all know how weinbo loves to self sabotage I mean I enjoy when they do that but not that night! I like to think that the reason why they chose those outfits is because their first weinbo night is also called "divorce night" and, after years of not attending the same event, they wanted to give us a wedding night. yes, I am that much of a clown, thank you.

ybo's birthday post: this one hit me so hard that I still tear up whenever I read "yb, the sunset is very beautiful". to most, that post it's just a very well written birthday wish, but if you're like me and believe xz wrote it then knowing that these two boys love each other so deeply is reason enough to warm your heart. "time does not have a pause button, yet you seem to hold the password for the occasional pauses in the world". cry with me 🥲

honorific mention to: THE hat (yb made it hard to ignore lmao), everything is lovely and its promo (at first I wasn't trying to read too much into the colors that were used to promote the ep but then the bone necklace appeared and changed my mind), mysterious driver (just so you all know I'm totally sold on this) and overall this year that seemed to have them together for longer periods of time.

okay so i binged the entire show and now i have thoughts.

positives

- the set is absolutely stunning i was breath taken every time it’s as if they just pulled it straight out of the cartoon. incredible

- the castings were so good! they really are what i would have envisioned

- APPA AND MOMO ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!

- i think merging the earth kingdom episodes was a smart PRODUCTION decision. it was confusing as an og watcher however it makes sense for the live version cause they can’t just keep coming back to the earth kingdom (they mixed eps 5, 10, 17) and also i believe they linked it well so i’m alright with it genuinely.

- zuko’s actor perfectly nailed the acting. whenever it was a flashback scene it felt like zuko was 3 years younger despite looking the same, because zuko was more innocent sounding. and then the acting for current zuko was major sass (which was the best part)

- SUKI ATE DOWN SO HARD

- avatar kyoshi was 7 FOOT TALL. all i have to say

- sokkas actor ate down i fear 🫶

negatives (or just minor critics)

- azula, ty lee and mai were not supposed to be in book/season 1 and it didn’t really make sense for them. i love all 3 their my girls however it felt like a fan service and they didn’t really provide any plot development. ESPECIALLY MAI AND TY LEE i swear the girls just stood and watched azula fight and that’s all. i think what could/should have been done is feature azula at the end scene like they did and make it a whole big reveal and if they really wanted to provide fan service chuck mai and ty lee next to her. i understand the girls are fan favourites but if they wanted to make hype for the second season it would have been better to just show them at the very end to get fans excited. instead i found myself annoyed when they popped up because they weren’t needed.

- it would have been fine to have the girls for flashback scenes. also! in book 2 we start off with azula having to find mai and ty lee. they aren’t meant to just be together already. what happened to circus ty lee? that’s like a really important detail idk.

- i felt the humour was lacking. NOT BECAUSE OF THE ACTORS. it was not their fault and i loved sokkas deliveries when he had the chance to. the blame is on the writers but the issue was is the series was more dark (which is fine) but it erased the humour from the show so toward the end i found myself getting a bit bored. i think what caused this is the removal of the “filler” episodes.

- secret tunnel? that is meant to be in season 2 and i felt a bit robbed because wdym that’s all we got?

- i also feel that the found family trope wasn’t executed as well as it could have been probably also because it lacked filler episodes. we didn’t get to see them hang out and actually get to know each other so we haven’t seen them build that connection yet. obviously we assume with context they have but idk it makes it lack.

- yue my girl 😭 first of all the wig which i’m not gonna talk about. i cant exactly place what was wrong but yue’s storyline made me cry my eyes out for days and i LOVE HER. for whatever reason i did not feel this way. i want to say it might be because suki & sokka kissed like in ep2 which felt like 5 days ago idk. -> also i jumped up and down when that happened. but it just felt like not as dramatic as it was which was so upsetting cause i was getting ready to bawl.

- katara was more chill. i love her actress btw i blame the directors for this. i just feel like they swapped sokka & kataras roles sort of, sokka was shown as the more mature one and trying to be like his dad whereas katara was viewed as the “little girl” their whole dynamic was that katara was way more mature to the point sokka ONLY PICTURED KATATA when he thought of his OWN MUM? i also feel like katata didnt blow up and get angry as much as she should of idk?

I was talking about the percy jackson show yesterday with my cousin so I feel like I have ironed out a bit my thoughts on the whole thing.

I have my criticisms but overall I think that the potential and the positives outweigh those and that's why I mostly focus on that.

I think my main issue has been that the basis is great and the actors are perfect but it always feels good and fun to watch but it ALMOST hits the right spot and doesn't go fully bull's eye.

This is season 1 and most of the cast are kids who are talented but I think everyone (writers and staff too) needs to find their footing a bit so that's why some things come off better than others. Like they have the right ideas and intentions of course (I mean rick is there so I have no doubts on the directions of the plot and in the changes made) but some things feel rough around the edges and it's fine.

Also the episodes should be LONGER. I don't know why they have some that are less than 40 minutes like Medusa episode was great loved it but I feel like we needed MORE TIME bc the fight at the end felt too quick.

Already talked abt it but episode 6 felt weak to me as a whole and I think the editing choices were to blame there. We needed more chaos and fun. I don't mind the focus on Hermes and Luke backstory and I liked the scenes for what they were but imo we needed something more fun and chaotic in the casino bc it felt like such a transitional episode, especially with ep 5 being a great one.

And probably the one episode per week drop makes the weaker episodes fall more than they would if you watched the show as a whole too.

Criticism aside I am enjoying the show for what it is and the potential it has bc it's there and high for sure. I am not looking for a darker more adult cw-ish (derogatory) take of the story. I am fully aware who is it made for audience wise and I am not gonna go around crying abt every little thing changed bc change is good at times and needed too.

I really appreciate this rendition of the story for what it is and I feel like the next two episodes will be great but most importantly the next seasons will be even better and try to fix what's lacking now.

​I actually haven't been able to install/play TS3 at ALL! I've never had a problem running TS3 before, so this sucks!

At first I thought it was the EA App effing up--I had it install the base game and all the EPs at once, but that didn't work, so I figured OK, let me uninstall everything and ONLY install the base game. That FINALLY got the TS3 Folder to appear in Documents, and the Launcher finally loaded. But every time I click Play, it instantly crashes back to the EA App. I have zero mods or Store CC installed or anything. And the "Repair" button on the EA App appears to do EFF ALL, so.... *whimpers*

I never had a laptop with Nvidia and different V-RAM/GPU components, so I'm a fish out of water as far as specs go with this new PC, since my dinosaurs ran TS3 just fine, LOL. Before this I was on a Win10 8GB Dell laptop (2017-2023), and before that I was on a 4GB Vista HP laptop (2009-2017).

This new laptop is a Win11 Asus--it runs Baldur's Gate 3 (barely, LOL, even my Steam Deck is crying), so I have no clue why it can't run TS3:

i'm really happy that she got angry at him, because despite how wonderful he was in this episode (very much boyfriend mode) he still behaved like a little ass in the first eps. He was so cold to her and for what? we all knew he had been waiting FIFTEEN years for her!!!

honestly he had me at "MokHa" I would've melted right there and then. btw Park Eun Bin is a QUEEN. I loved her in this scene and she looked gorgeous.

that was enough for me to forgive him and be completely on his side, but I loved that he explained himself further and told her the only day he regretted being Bogeol was the day they found her on that island, because he couldn't hug her and thank her for being alive. MokHa is a warm memory and a light in a past that was basically a nightmare. Thanks to her he got the courage to leave his father and ran away.

i loved the way he so tenderly cupped her face with his hands, that was so cute!!!

for a moment, it seemed to me like BoGeol was being too much all of the sudden, but then I thought about it and realized it just makes sense. Even if he was basically following her on real time through social media (lol what a time to be alive) he did think for a moment that he had lost her again. Obviously, he couldn't leave some very important things unsaid and I'm glad he was so honest. He had to let her know how much he cared and still cares. Just as MokHa let him know by running away, to keep him and his family safe.

side note: i hope she tells him what she discussed with her father and how she might have made things worse, because it was a real mistake on her part, though i commend her for being brave and having good intentions. It backfired but she tried.
