There are about four scenes in Wayward Son that really stand out to me, to the point that I have them bookmarked.
Baz has drained a unicorn before. They apparently taste like lavender.
“Ill be damned and drawn and fucking quartered before I watch some devil-eyed goat feel up my boyfriend right in front of me.” Simon Snow when he and said boyfriend are unable to communicate and are about to break up.
“I’d tie our hearts together, chamber by chamber.” IF THEY HAD JUST TALKED IT OUT THEN…
The entire saga of Natasha’s scarf. They both care so much BUT CANT COMMUNICATE It
This book puts the best kind of bee in my bonnet

Bro I’m less than fifty pages into reading House of Leaves and already deeply unnerved by one word being slightly out of line with the rest of the paragraph.
(Image description under cut)
Like, it’s in the center, I think. I’m sure as hell not grabbing a ruler to check. When I first read that line I had to double check it wasn’t just the angle of the book. It’s not a mistake or a trick. It’s a defiance of boundaries. There are no hooks of message to reach for here, nothing but the edges of a shadowy edifice I’ve been warned away from. Or perhaps there are millions of hooks, scattered through space and time, and my own rests between my teeth. Anyway yeah I’m a tad freaked out by this horror novel but if I tried to explain why to my friends, family, therapist, et cetera, they would not understand.
[Image ID: A paragraph on page 47 of the book House of Leaves, within section V of The Navidson Record. The word “house” within the paragraph is colored blue, and it rests ever so slightly above the surrounding line of text. The paragraph reads: “For all its merits, Hollander’s book only devotes five pages to the actual physics of sound. While this is not the place to dwell on the beautiful and complex properties of reflection, in order to even dimly comprehend the shape of the Navidson house it is still critical to recognize how the laws of physics in tandem with echo’s mythic inheritance serve to enhance echo’s interpretive strength.” End ID.]

I really think Marius may have bought Amadeo from the brothel, that he paid money for him, with the intent of sex. Lestat isn’t the only unreliable narrator. I mean what, he just happened to go to that dark basement or whatever where Amadeo was locked up and basically left to die? He showed no surprise at finding him there, he immediately names him Amadeo. And then he takes him home and immediately bathes and molests him. He didn’t save him, he bought him! Does he molest all his other boys too or just Amadeo?
And the ego he must have to name him Amadeo, seeing himself as God. Its so sick how Amadeo literally thinks hes Jesus Christ when he first sees him.
And he’s too young to have “wet pleasure”? So Amadeo is pre- spermarche at this age. So how damn old is he, like 8?? Ugh I dont think I can ever look past this with Marius. I can’t even give him the excuse of being Ancient Roman because I mean, I’m no expert on Rome but according to Google, age 7 and under were considered to be pretty much infants (which they are) and pederasty wasn’t socially tolerated until the age of 12.

My brother has finally started reading House of Leaves and I now get to relive both the thrill and the nightmare of constant theorizing.
You may leave the House but it never leaves you.

"internet historian's alt-right anyways" "great day to have never liked james somerton" "never even heard of illuminaughtii before this lol"
that's great buddy but don't go around thinking you're immune to this. if you're not looking for plagiarism, you likely won't notice it unless its egregiously obvious. hell, you've probably consumed plagiarized content without even realizing it. even hbomb pointed out that these people disguised what they presented pretty well as long as you didn't try and dig deeper. don't come away just thinking of this as a callout piece, take this as an important lesson about vetting your sources. if googling scripts in quotes was enough to expose the original, we should all start doing that shit!!
edit: it got a little too doomer-y a little too fast so one quick addition
this is hbomb's curated playlist of queer creators, many of whom were victims of plagiarism
this is producer kat on reddit calling for any more plagiarism discoveries and for queer content creators to be uplifted
please take some time to uplift these creators and recommend any you know! if you can help uncover more of the original creators whose work was lifted that would be great too :)
UPDATE- From Hbomb's twitter: "We're in the process of cataloguing everyone James Somerton plagiarised and finding their contact information. Which is quite a task, so to help us out: If you see this and happen to be one of the people Somerton stole from, please email us at
[email protected]"
