#FlexFriday with this 5-minute #YourBodyIsYourBarbell leg blaster! --------------- I did 25 reps/minute for 5 straight minutes for 125 total reps. After resting 1-2 minutes, I repeated on the other side. Start with 8-10 reps/minute and slowly build up from there. This is a perfect example of how to get more work done in the same amount of time or less instead of endlessly lengthening your workouts. --------------- The pump was absolutely precious. I used more of a constant tension rep stimulus to maximize the metabolic stress (pump and burn). I also typically use a closer stance to put more stress on the quads (no, it doesn't bother my knees). --------------- This is such a simple and deadly lower body workout. I was even feeling this in my #TeamHighCalves towards the end. Note there's little to no spinal stress, no weight needed, and it's easy to recover from. 🔥 10 GREAT 👍 BULGARIAN SPLIT SQUAT VARIATIONS! Here are just 10 of my favorite variations of my go-to lower-body builder. Move 1 increases power, the metabolic/cardio response, and makes your bodyweight feel like heavy weight. Moves 2, 6, and 10 add a joint-friendly ascending resistance so the movement is hardest at the top (where it's typically the easiest). Moves 3 and 4 challenge core and hip stability while also changing which lower hip/thigh musculature gets targeted the most. Ipsilaterally-loaded (same side hand as lead leg) works inner hip and thigh more. Contralaterally-loaded (opposite side hand of lead leg) works outer hip/thigh more. Moves 7-9 show how to increase the difficulty of the same load with a level change- the overhead position is hardest and the hip-level position is easiest. Move 7 works your core and shoulders the most. Move 8 works your quads the most. Move 8 works your glutes, hamstrings, and back the most. Rather than performing a hundred random exercises, I like to take a single big-bang-for-your-buck move like this and mix and match endless variations based on goal or on feel. It simplifies the training process and you'll make more gainz with this approach. ------------ 1. Plyo 2. X-Band 3. Single-Dumbbell- Ipsilateral 4. Single-Dumbbell- Contralateral 5. Goblet 6. 🔥3-WAY BULGARIAN BURNERS! Much like with regular squats, you can adjust your stance to target difference leg muscles with #BulgarianSquats. The further your front foot is away from the bench, the more you work your glutes. The closer your front foot is to the bench, the more you work your quads. Combine the best of both works plus a stance in-between for a burn that will make herpes jealous. Perform each of the 3 stances in the exact order below on the same leg for 40 seconds each with little to no rest between them: --------- 1️⃣Long-Stance Bulgarian Split Squats 2️⃣Medium-Stance Bulgarian Split Squats 3️⃣Close-Stance Bulgarian Split Squats --------- Rest a minute, switch sides, and repeat.
