🔥 10 GREAT 👍 BULGARIAN SPLIT SQUAT VARIATIONS! Here are just 10 of my favorite variations of my go-to lower-body builder. Move 1 increases power, the metabolic/cardio response, and makes your bodyweight feel like heavy weight. Moves 2, 6, and 10 add a joint-friendly ascending resistance so the movement is hardest at the top (where it's typically the easiest). Moves 3 and 4 challenge core and hip stability while also changing which lower hip/thigh musculature gets targeted the most. Ipsilaterally-loaded (same side hand as lead leg) works inner hip and thigh more. Contralaterally-loaded (opposite side hand of lead leg) works outer hip/thigh more. Moves 7-9 show how to increase the difficulty of the same load with a level change- the overhead position is hardest and the hip-level position is easiest. Move 7 works your core and shoulders the most. Move 8 works your quads the most. Move 8 works your glutes, hamstrings, and back the most. Rather than performing a hundred random exercises, I like to take a single big-bang-for-your-buck move like this and mix and match endless variations based on goal or on feel.
