3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

Not for an opinion about the fandom's source material, but I have unfollowed someone (actually...two someones) for their take on a pairing that felt exceptionally angsty (almost cruel) and a little OOC. They also would start a fic with a great premise, draw out the angst with no end goal in mind, then abandon that and move on to a new fic to start the angst cycle again. I'm not saying a writer can't do that, but for my own sanity I had to unfollow. I didn't tell them and I doubt they noticed, which is as it should be. Everyone is free to right what they like.

Also, similar to your answer, if someone is spewing hate or tearing down others in the fandom, that's an unfollow for me and probably a block, but I can't think of a time when that's happened. I don't follow that many people (because I can't keep up with my feed) so I usually feel confident that the person I'm following isn't going to be a dick.

8. Have you received anon hate? What about?*

No, never anon. I did get a guest comment a few months ago (logged out but they left their ao3 name?) that I'm pretty sure was a troll. They asked (on a completed fic that is years old) when I'd be adding a rape scene. 🤷‍♀️ I blocked them and moved on.

10. Most disliked arc? Why?

The Telepath War in B5 s5 Who said that? 😂

I was trying to think of a more relevant fandom. I really didn't like the Civil War arc in the Marvel Comics (or MCU for that matter). I read that prior to the movies coming out and I was just so pissed off at Tony and everyone who sided with the Superhero Registration Act. Ironically, I then really grew to like Tony Stark as a character because of the Iron Man movies and then got to get mad all over again when CA: Civil War came out.

As to why, it frustrated me that the superheros who sided with it didn't seem to understand the danger in giving the government that much control. I understood what the MCU's take on it was trying to say: that superheroes without oversight can level whole cities and get away with it. Maybe the comics made the same point but I read them a long time ago so the MCU stuff is more clear and I believe in and side with Steve: What happens when the government says they can't go help someone? Are they just supposed to watch people in need suffer?

I said this in your post but very much agree with your thoughts on Aziraphale's return to heaven arc and Scully + pregnancy.

Oh! I thought of another but I can't actually remember the details? XD I really enjoyed the Fables comics up to a point but I remember something happened (I think with Bigby) and I got really annoyed and stopped reading. So whatever that arc was that I stopped reading at, lol.

Challenging! These days I largely get into canons after figuring out there’s a ship I’ll like, and I’m pretty accurate at guessing that. Last time it happened was probably… Bunny from The Charioteer? Which I went into for the main ship, Ralph/Laurie (a good ship!), and then I read @mildredmost’s Golden Age. That fic absolutely got me shipping Bunny/Hazell, a ship that doesn’t interact in the book, and more broadly cemented my love for Bunny as a character. The power of a great fic!

K. What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

Haaaa well I do tend to like characters who don’t develop, but. I’ll shout out the book I just finished, Henry Henry by Allen Bratton, whose main character Hal is delightful. He’s a terrible person and doesn’t really get less terrible by the end, but what develops is our understanding of him, and perhaps his own sense of self. That’s the sort of development I most enjoy. ❤️

T. Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

Yes!!! Tom Riddle/Voldemort can feel love: romantic, platonic, every sort you can imagine. Albus’ speculation was only just that, speculation, and certainly Albus has no personal experience with the matter in order to actually know. Not that I’m reading HP fic anymore, but back when I was active in the fandom, I wouldn’t read or would drop fics which made Tom incapable of love. My least-favorite way of handling villains, tbh. He is interesting to me if he can love, has loved, and makes the choices that he does regardless.

3. how you feel about your current WIP

A bit unsure honestly. It's already looking like it will be another really long fic and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Here's a tiny snippet. (Pasting it in, I realize it's not so tiny, oh well)

“What is this?” Kara asked, horrorstuck at what she saw playing out on screen; Lena standing on the rooftop of the L-Corp building standing next to a piece of machinery that shot a pillar of light into the sky. She watched as it ripped a hole in the sky and one of the Chiaturi came spilling out of it. “This isn’t how it happened…” “No,” Lena said flatly. “It isn’t. But it is what people are going to think happened.” She paused the video and stared for a moment at the frozen image of several Chiaturi flying high over the city. “Stark really outdid himself. Of course I’ll never say that to his face because then I’ll never hear the end of it,” she added, shuddering at the mere thought. “Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing. Holograms,” Lena explained, not wanting to get bogged down in the details. “It looks real though, doesn’t it?” “I don’t understand,” Kara said slowly. “Why would you—” Her hand flew to her mouth like a startled bird. “Lena, no!” Got there in the end, Lena thought, smiling a little. “I’ve already sent it to a few of the larger news outlets. Anonymously, of course. If it isn’t already making the rounds already, it will be shortly. There will be more evidence leaked to various sources over the coming days. Irrefutable proof that I’m the one responsible for the Chitauri invasion.” “But you’re not,” Kara said hotly. “You had nothing to do with it.” “I was responsible,” Lena said in a flat tone that only served to make Kara look all the more agitated. “Lena—” “That’s what people need to believe happened,” she explained with a tired kind of patience. “Because the alternative… That the alien invasion was a result of a series of very unlikely events and sheer awful fucking luck, Kara… That won’t fly.” “That’s what happened,” Kara answered testily. “And that doesn't matter,” Lena countered. “If people don't have someone to blame, if they think that there's even a slim possibility that at any moment the sky might rip open again and the chitauri could destroy what's left of National City, who will they blame, Kara?” 

20. in what year did you publish your first fic?

I can't remember now but I know that it was an X-Files fic so it had to be quite a while ago. I'm old.

24. how do you recharge when you’re not feeling creative?

I've learned not to try and force myself to be creative. If I'm burnt out or for whatever reason the words just aren't coming, I always think it's best to take a break. I'll read (I'm currently reading Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata) or bake or find something to watch. It usually doesn't take long for me to want to write again.

Probably. My closer friendships are really deep in an emotional level, people usually think my bff and I are dating :D Anyway! What I seek for in a close friend is honesty, kindness, intellect and reliability (I don't care if they're chaotic with other people but I need to depend on them to a certain level). She has all these and more. (FENCING.) And she is beautiful, so the harder thing might be not to fall IN love. Which brings us to...

that's an interesting question, i'm so excited to answer.

2. favourite canon thing about this character?

uh where to begin. i'm so endeared by his inability to make jokes. i think he's tried and he's always seemed awkward, so he doesn't attempt to make any jokes unless he's around the rest of teiko gang. it's just so cute to me for obvious reasons. i like that he's bad at making jokes but i also like the idea of him trying to crack one around his closest friends because he's not afraid of being viewed as awkward. (i don't know about anyone else but i'm very obsessed with him having the privilege to be his honest and messy self around those in his intimate circle. everyone is also endeared by his jokes, or lack thereof.)

also the fact that he looks like his mother. devastating. i love it and hate it. imagine growing up with the face in the mirror and learning to look yourself in the eye and see everything you've lost and can't get back.

everything about him is incredibly endearing to me. i just chose the one at the forefront of my mind.

4. if you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

SHERLOCK HOLMES. i'm a big fan of everything sherlock holmes and akashi's intelligence and history match very well with someone who could either be a great detective or a criminal mastermind. i do want to see him in detective fiction of literally any kind. a cozy mystery, specifically, i think he'd be such a beloved narrator or protagonist (i may be biased because i love him but i still think he's the kind of character who grows on the audience very fast). i'd want him written in a 21st century mystery novel though, maybe pepper in a little bit of espionage to keep things interesting.

i'd also love to put him in a Jekyll and Hyde narrative because it would be fun to experiment with. i think it would be a nice way to dive into oreshi and bokushi's separate world views & concepts of morality and self. of course, i'd change up the script because i'm not a fan of Jekyll and Hyde being used as a reference for any kind of dissociative disorder, but i think i'd like to use the setting to assess akashi's psychology on a deeper, more technical level. i want to access his headspace and watch oreshi & bokushi's internal exchanges and characters more than anything else, so it might not even have a plot. i just need to poke around his brain a little. if that makes sense.

i think at this point i should just attempt to write an academic paper on him.

26. what's your opinion on bokushi and his integration during extra game?

i love bokushi. my little guy. he is the embodiment of akashi's maladaptive mechanisms. he's grandiose because he can't afford to admit his own faults or weaknesses - akashi has never been allowed to fail or be vulnerable growing up - because he's associated it with abandonment. he has to command deference because he feels unworthy of love, or incapable of being loved, because akashi has grown up being praised by his father without ever feeling like he was loved. that expression on his face when murasakibara offered him a hand to stand up during extra game, how unexpected it was that anyone would want to care for him after he's fallen, after they've seen the cause of his shame in that moment. he does care for his team and he is protective but he doesn't know how to express it. at his core, he's struggling with a lot of shame and fear that he doesn't know how to handle. i love him.

as for the integration, i'm overall indifferent to it. and i'll explain why. i'll try to keep my narrative and technical analysis separate but i can't insulate them completely from each other.

firstly, i guess it worked in the narrative sense. akashi had to accept himself in his entirety to perform his best, even the parts of him that he's afraid / ashamed of. it's also symbolic of how bokushi and oreshi had to accept each other to create a cohesive, skilled player, and how, despite bokushi's past mistakes, he is still essential to akashi's function. also i don't feel much for extra game sorry, so this is the extent to which i can care about it.

in the technical sense, i don't think bokushi would have disappeared like that so instantly and definitively. akashi's osdd clearly stems from the trauma of his childhood which, in large part, seems to go unaddressed most of the time and the progress he's made (as bokushi and oreshi) can be credited to his own efforts in isolation. i like to think of that bit in extra game as bokushi and oreshi co-fronting or, basically, working together with their specific skill sets to achieve victory, which again is symbolic of the concept of teamwork that is central to knb's theme. the scene specifically illustrates the necessity of interpersonal and intrapersonal cohesion to achieve victory. which i thought was nice. though i don't think bokushi would have simply disappeared after that. he's shown a lot of growth himself and might appear occasionally during times of akashi's distress or when his fear of abandonment becomes salient & unmanageable. i think in the future, bokushi and oreshi definitely either work together or they take turns, depending on the situations that specifically trigger each of them to the front. i think akashi is doing his best, and so are his two selves, and they're getting better and better at becoming a cohesive whole but that's more of a long-term vision i have for akashi.

i hope that makes some kind of sense. thank you so much for this interesting question, i really enjoyed thinking about it and answering it.

8: Do they prefer ass, tits, thighs, shoulders, or something else entirely as a characteristic they find attractive in others?

Reed: He generally really likes tits & thighs but his favorite features just vary a lot by the person. Sometimes it’s hands, or their back or shoulders, or a movement they do that makes their collarbones more visible, or how their skin looks in a specific type of lighting, etc etc.

Mercy: She’s pretty much in the same category as Reed- her favorite features vary by the person. In general she tends to really like hands & shoulders on more masculine partners and thighs on more feminine partners.

9: How vocal are they during sex?

Reed: Moderately vocal- he’s not typically loud, but he does communicate his wants/needs pretty easily and he can get pretty vocal if he’s really into it. He can also be a bit chatty at times, but fortunately it doesn’t take much to shut him up.

Mercy: Pretty vocal- also not typically loud, but she tends to talk a lot. She checks in with her partners very frequently and tends to give a lot of praise and encouragement, especially if they seem very responsive to it.

18: Preferred position?

Reed: He's not picky and generally just goes along with whatever his partner tells him to do. In general he likes being on top, likes frotting, and really likes anything involving his mouth.

Mercy: She’s not especially picky either but prefers to be in control of whatever’s going on, either physically or by incorporating D/s dynamics. She can also be a bit of a pillow princess with partners she trusts.

22: How shy are they with new sexual partners?

Reed: Not shy at all, he’s pretty confident. However, he does typically get cagey and skittish if they intentionally touch the scarred areas on his neck, shoulder, & back.

Mercy: Not even remotely shy- she’s pretty obviously a ghoul, she’s been a ghoul for a long time, she’s comfortable with it, and she expects any partners to be fine with what she looks like because of it.

31: What's the best way to get them aroused?

Reed: Pretty much anything involving adrenaline- fighting, arguing, sparring, near-death experience, threats, etc etc.

Reed: Not really, he’s pretty comfortable with strangers. He typically leaves afterwards though, in general he's very unlikely to spend the night with an actual stranger unless he’s working with them for faction related things or something.

What is your favorite canon muse?

Wally-- he's just near and dear to my heart and is by far my favorite character on this blog. [Don't tell the others.] Close second would be either Artemis or Darren, as I've been writing both for as long as their series have been around. Fun fact: I'm the founder of the Official AF Fan Discord. I'm also the first VTuber to meet Eoin Colfer.

Have you ever written a canon muse that you first thought of ‘meh’ when they appeared in their canon show/movie/book?

I wasn't too keen on Lex Luthor when he first showed up in the Superman Animated series [and later the larger DCAU] but he won me over in the JL and JLU series.

Are you happy with how your favorite canon muse was portrayed in canon?

I really wish we'd gotten more of Wally-- SPECIFICALLY DCAU Wally. I get it, he was a mishmash of Flashes just like how the DCAU Robin was a mashup of Jason and Tim. But honestly? I liked the different takes. They stood out among the MULTITUDE of AUs out there. [sigh] if only we'd gotten the flash dcau series.

How far do go with divergences when it comes to your canon muses?

I love AUs-- I love alternate timelines. I enjoy putting characters together at different parts of their stories [which is how JackFord came to be, IT'S MY CROSSOVER OTP]. I'm always down for divergent canon.

Ohhh, that's a fun one. My hair was on a downward spiral until recently, but this is what works for me atm: I use a Vichy Dercos anti-dandruff shampoo, Redken Volume Conditioner and the Pureology Leave-in conditioner. After blowdrying I also use the Olaplex oil. That's basically it! I also find silk scrunchies do wonders for smoother hair.

I like perfume better because it's faster.

As in a covid mask? Nobody really wears them here anymore, so unless I'm going to a doctor's office, I don't.

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in

Ooooo this is a hard one because I have ADHD, and so I lose interest in projects quite often -- but almost always come back to them. I have this one piece though that I started years ago that I haven't come back to regarding Elrond's council robe (the red one) being Cel's. It's two linked panels -- the first one being Cel giving Elrond some affection while she's wearing it, the second one being Elrond wrapping it around himself like a hug after she's gone. I'll come back to it eventually but currently it's languishing in my WIP folder.

Also I have a kidnap fam comic related to The Lion's Roar by First Aid Kit that I want to do but I unfortunately do not really understand how to make comics, and so that idea has spluttered a little bit. Really, I just need to take a stab at it, but y'know... eh.
