So today while I was at goodwill I saw vintage Avon cologne bottles...and they were fun shapes and all that jazz as is the way, but ONE OF THEM WAS SHAPED LIKE A CHESS PIECE and my brain instantly said "omg whizzvin"

Sooooo a few quick google searches later and I learned that they produced an entire chess set worth of these cologne bottles between 1971 and 1978.

Which means they were wrapping up the series at the PERFECT time for our fave chess loving weatherboy to get one for his boyfriend.

At first I thought it would be a moment where Marvin is Inept and Whizzer is Disappointed but ACTUALLY...no.

Bc it's early on and they aren't quite so jaded yet.

So it's just CUTE.

Whizzer doesn't care that it's both Cheap and Dorky. He's just Happy that Marvin's actually spending time with him and apologized for ignoring him.

They've been together almost a month, but they haven't seen much of one another because of the part where he's Married.

But he's thrilled with the gift and also the Attention and so he accepts his apology and is easily convinced to stay in and learn how to play chess (for the first time) instead of going out.

For anyone who who doesn't know, Avon is the oldest beauty company in the US and also Quite Affordable (and also an MLM but that's not the point here)... But ANYWAY

I'm almost certain Bell's Hells will try to get F.C.G back, although I'm unsure if it will be posed above table as a legitimate rez attempt or whether its going to be more a scene of collective grief and effort by the Bells, in character, that will take me out at the knees while reaffirming their love and the depth of their loss, but without the out-of-game framing of a legitimate chance to bring back F.C.G.

I assume that distinction will depend largely/almost exclusively on how Sam feels about bringing F.C.G back + whatever the cast have discussed since the ep happened, but! If it is any comfort, I do not see any world in which the next episode does not display how much the Bell's Hells care about F.C.G and how much they'd want to bring him back, while struggling with the weight and reality of the intentional sacrifice that F.C.G chose. And whatever happens, I see the potential for a deeply compelling story/character interplay that's gonna. Kick my ass. <3

Guys, I’ve read the Wild Robot

And let me tell you, if I hadn’t recently taken a Children’s Literature class in college, I would’ve said this was the best middle-grade book I’ve read since elementary/middle school. I almost read this book in one night (I was sleepy 😴) like I couldn’t put it down.

The heart behind this book is astounding and it never shies away from showing complex and difficult concepts. You will fall in love with Roz and her gosling son along with all of the other animal on the island.

If you’ve got younger ones, I highly recommend reading this to them or having a little book club moment with them. However, be prepared for whatever hard questions may come your way (i.e. circle of life and climate issues). You know your child and how much they can handle/understand. If you’re like me and much older, it’s a quick read and a great way to finish off a long day. It’s a part of a trilogy and you bet I’m patiently waiting for my hold on a copy at the library.

If the movie is anything like the book (which, given a rewatch of the trailer, it’s looking like so), we are in for a special treat.

Oh my GOD I want this fic so badly. Damian joins the family and finds out Bruce used to be married to The Actual Green Lantern who he just so happens to think is unbelievably cool (Maybe Hal helped out on a mission or two and Damian became an instant fan because Hal didn't look down on him), so he goes to all the other batkids to find out what they were like as a couple and why they broke up in the first place. In doing so he gains all of his siblings onto his side and they start trying to get them back together... chaos ensues.

Two years ago, they lost funding from the UK government and it looked like they would have to quit skiing all-together.
