Okay (sorry if I ramble, I just love her so much)

this is for the @lawyerbloodbath tournament (please read)

I think everyone should vote for Rosa

First off The game is called Tears of Themis

Themis as in the goddess and personification of justice, divine order, law, and custom

it is implied in the art for the game that Rosa acts as Themis

(The statue for the entrance of the game being Rosa)

(Rosa being dressed up by the male leads as Goddess Themis)

second off Rosa is literally so pretty and relatable,

She has 4 whole top teir men simping for her as well, like come on, wish that was me

(she is a member of the simp life)

(like girl me too, damn)

also look how cute her lawyer outfit is during the debates

The game also makes a lot of references to another hit lawyer type game, Ace attorney

Also one of the love interests in the game is also a Lawyer so it's double the lawyer for one

Propaganda under the cut!

Vyn Richter

Propaganda

hes just genuinely really manipulative and shady, like he is a walking red flag. the first time u see him in the game's dream-like prologue, its when hes taking u out of a hypnotic trance. and he says, and i quote, "that may have been a dream, but this may not be reality" WHAT?? plus the way he treats his patients (hes a psychiatrist) bothers me. to quote the wiki about a 10 year old boy, "Vyn Richter discovered after reassessment that Huey did not meet the diagnostic criteria for autism, but rather had learned to use the diagnosis as a defense mechanism to avoid social interaction." hes just gross and i wouldn't trust him with a pet fish, much less an autistic child (or myself! an autistic adult!)

Vyn IS manipulative af, but he's also overall a irresponsible doctor? It is said that he's pretty successful and apparently his methods work, but he divulges private information of his patients, especially to the MC. In his personal story Vyn allows the MC to visit one of his patients (a dancer who is very unstable and totally not up to see a random girl) who don't even know each other and with no authorization whatsoever. There's also this card's story where he exposes the MC to a violent and unstable patient. While I haven't read that story myself, I know Vyn takes a hit trying to protect the MC, the illustration being his arm with blood. iirc the MC then bandages his arm but still, why would you expose her like that? He also says he likes the MC because she doesnt feel shallow, or not like other people, which is basically giving different and new answers to his funky psychological tests. He has no reason to do that. It's not even an "i can fix him" situation bc none of these things are ever acknowledged not even as problems

Rock

Propaganda

He is just.. so useless.

Rock is such a fuck boiiiiiii. He's lazy as can be and flat out tells the farmer upon proposing that he will not work under any circumstances, and is truly one of the only marriage canidates in the game who won't help the farmer with any chores once they start living together. He's also really stupid, and not in a cute himbo kind of way. More like straight up irritating. He also tries to have this playboy charm about him, but it comes across as being more sleazy than anything. For a character that does nothing but talk about how awesome he is, there is NOTHING about him that backs it all up lol

practically every time they release main chapter cards!

hm, how do i explain this? i think one of the strengths of chinese otome games over japanese otome games is their commitment to a small cast where they can develop many facets of a character versus having a buffet of characters that target niche likes and so they come off as shallow or having characters who aren't allowed to develop in other directions as much because then it would encroach on another character's domain.

in my opinion, light and night does the former especially well, even among its competitors, because they try to capture the "human experience" through their male leads.

for example, in tears of themis, Lu Jinghe has a theme of freedom depicted through the conflict of his personal desires to be a roaming artist but also needing and willing to bear the responsibility of being the PAX heir, especially with his brother missing. none of the other men really have freedom themes, except perhaps Mo Yi if you squint but he's quite self-actualized and handled his family issues.

meanwhile, in light and night, everyone gets their own version of freedom trauma. Evan never had the freedom to be himself due to blood clan upbringing and propaganda, tried to die multiple times because of this, and now has terrible nihilism, has difficulty revealing his true emotions, or even fighting for what he wants.

Sariel used to have the innocent freedom of an animal and it was entering society and learning human emotions that shackled him and gave him so much guilt through responsibility that he ended up with extreme depression and tried to kill himself countless times.

Osborn's freedom started off as a curse, because he was on the brink of self-destruction without anyone to care about him and bind him to this world, but then it became a hard-won treasure after he conquered his inner demons.

Jesse craved the freedom to be himself so hard his impetus to be an actor was because he could dissociate. he echoes Lu Jinghe's themes because he also shoulders a great responsibility that he's willing to bear.

Charlie's freedom themes also echo Lu Jinghe's but worse because he's like a caged bird with his possessive father that wants to groom him to be the perfect son. but Charlie has also struggled over questions about his personhood.

anyway, this happens a lot in light and night where the men can all tackle a theme from a different angle because of their different backgrounds and it makes them feel very real. we all deal with and experience the question of what it is to be a person.

every time main chapters release, another facet of the men gets revealed in unexpected ways. i feel like i'm constantly getting to know the men deeper and deeper, and it's not just random facts about them, but rather the extent of their experiences that shaped them to be who they are now.

I heard we were making propaganda posts for the @woltourney ? hahaha!

Naru is actually on side B, and won't be up for voting for a little bit longer. But here's my post saying you should vote for her! Naru was a bit too shy to advocate for herself, but her weird ascian love interest stepped in for her!

I'll include a little about Naru below the cut for anyone who might be interested in getting to know her!

Naru is from the Steppe! She spent many of her younger years alone as an orphan. She often felt like there was something missing from her life. She left the Steppe in search of a remedy for this ambiguous 'missing' thing.

[General story spoilers ahead, please don't proceed unless you're caught up to endwalker]

Thanks to her Azem who was in love with Themis, Naru ended up with a piece of Elidibus' soul in her soul, and he had one of hers. This resulted in both of their souls being /incomplete./ And the feeling of something 'missing' was her soul wishing it had its own piece back.

When they find each other in heavensward, they find that this 'missing' feeling gets better. Elidibus doesn't remember Azem very well at all, but he grows closer to Naru, and Naru grows closer to him, because they feel better together (because their souls are 'complete' together.)

They fall in love! And their love ends in a LOT of tragedy, that I won't get into here. But I think that's the most important story note for her! Naru's journey is about toxic codependency, learning to love yourself, and learning that romance isn't the only important type of love.

She learns to deal with grief, she learns to cope with her own negative feelings. She grows friendships, ruins friendships, becomes spiteful, learns to heal... Lots of different emotions! She's my little babygirl depressed lizard who gets turned into a sin eater! (a story of it's own...)

“The conceptual link between Themis and deities of agricultural fertility can, however, be traced much further back. Burkert comments on the occurrence in philosophical speculation of the worship of Gaia 'as a prototype of all piety', despite the relatively modest place of the Earth in actual religious practice, and notes Gaia's political aspect: 'the earth not only sustains, but also imposes obligations on her native sons.' 111 This can be seen in a specifically Athenian context in Solon's celebration of his own reforms (fr. 36 West, 1-5): May the mighty mother of the Olympian gods bear witness to these things in the justice of time, I lifted the boundary-stones planted in many places; then enslaved, now she is free. The traditional explanation of this passage - that the boundary-stones marked mortgaged land, their removal signifying the cancellation of debts and return of land to its rightful owners - has been questioned, and exactly what Solon's reforms entailed is much debated. Whatever the historical accuracy of the poem, however, it certainly demonstrates Earth's involvement in political propaganda, appealed to as witness to Solon's establishment of social justice via redistribution of land.”

Hello yes I have some amazingly specific headcanons on this in fact

and very little to do with the Big 12 Olympians

Enjolras: Themis! the narrative actually gives us this one. Goddess of Divine Law/Order, good governance, fair divisions, petitions, and prophecy. Not a ruler herself, but someone any ruler should heed.

Combeferre - Eirene, a goddess of peace, and a caregiver to children-but also a goddess of spring, which was campaign season. Being for peace and the time of war at once feels like the right internal contradiction for the doctor with the armory. Prouvaire -Orpheus. I know it's obvious. Sometimes the obvious answer is right. Art, love of love, fearlessness against death, and enough latent tragedy to make a dozen Romantic plays, all right there.

Feuilly -Atlas; obviously there's the surface "embraced the world" thing matching with the standard visual of Atlas and the globe, but I like him for Feuilly especially bc of his other association as the god of the spheres and expert in astronomy, specifically for the passage comparing the rules of honor to the stars; something many ignore, but which Atlas the astronomer knows better than anyone.

Courfeyrac- Triptolemos, a hero made immortal for his hospitality, whose role was to share the knowledge and power of agriculture , for the benefit of all people; an exceptionally helpful hero seems right for the warm heart of the group. Also: flying serpent chariot!

Bahorel- the MOST specific headcanon here: Hercules, specifically THIS Hercules:

which is Hercules, As Icon Of the French Revolution, EATING THE MONARCHS OF EUROPE, and clearly having a great time doing it.

Legle - Hermes. In this AU we allow one (1) major Olympian in this lineup and it's the god of Long Stories That Make People Forget What They Were Doing So They Can Get Where They Need to Be Long Enough For Destiny to Kick In. Someone's gotta look out for lost travelers and confused drunks and talk. Anyway, he's from Elsewhere in the pantheon to all the others XD That the herald's wand Hermes uses is so often confused for the snake-staff that Asclepius uses is just a thematic bonus.

Joly- Asclepius; a god of healing and medicine, but a very human one--to the point where there seems to be disagreement over whether he's a god at all. has a snake-staff that gets confused with the herald’s wand that Hermes uses.

Grantaire- Silenus, a god of wine, strongly associated with asses -that is, with donkeys-- to the extent of sometimes being shown with donkey's ears. A fun party god, without many of the more murder-y associations of Dionysos

(Got bored and am on writer's block for the game thingy, so I be rewriting some old stuff into somethig that totally isn't lowkey a certain pair's bromance propaganda)

The goddess’ earliest memories were never truly hers, but her father’s.

It was a modest little crew: Zeus, a goat, a pair of Ash-Tree nymphs, the Kouretes, and that tiny voice of wisdom.

Sure, normally one's conscience doesn't have a will of their own, but he was a god, and a son of Kronos at that. It was also kind of boring and unsettling when the amount of people that you could trust were far from ideal. Besides, someone had to be his impulse control, especially when the nymphs weren't around.

The days were tense, but also simple and carefree. As long as it wouldn't reveal his cover, Zeus was allowed to do whatever he wished and, excluding his more... passionate moments, the voice never left his side.

The Titanomachy was an arduous 10-year long effort, but in the end the lighting-bearer finally wore his father's crown. He even got married, well, thrice. Themis was the first, Hera was who he ended up settling down with, and Metis…

Despite the few times he had slept with her, the titan had yet to be pregnant when Zeus swallowed her whole.

Nevertheless, she had a daughter, and the voice suddenly had a mother.

'Wait!' Metis exclaimed, aghast and now stuck in his head. 'You're telling me, after all this time, you haven't even named her??'

'Oh believe me, he tried-'

'And she refused every single one!'

'As I should, they were absolutely terrible, as expected from the same god that named his eagle "Eagle of Zeus". How creative-'

'Well, that's your opinion, but I for one think-'

'Alright, alright, settle down you two.' The titan sighed. 'Why don't you let me try?'

'By all means, please do.'

No one else knew of Athena's existence. Zeus had tried to tell his siblings, but they just laughed it off and teased him for it. Even Rhea wasn't sure if she could take him seriously.

Technically... there was a way for them to hear her voice, but that would involve sharing his thoughts and he was appalled at even the mere notion of it.

At least, that's how he felt when it came to his siblings.
