#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #lan xichen #jin guangyao #jiang cheng #wei wuxian #qin su #EDIT: Tumblr published an earlier draft with only half the notes I wrote so: late entry on my JGY thoughts. #Unlike the mystic powers of the stockmarket (what the OG meme is referring to) I think this situation calls for more active investigation. #qin su is such a deeply tragic character to me and I really wish we got a bit more from her. #Love everyone who sent me messages about her after the last time she appeared. #I think she needs a spin off of her being a transmigrator SO badly. #MDZS has so many interesting characters - but it sometimes fails to give them the proper room to really develop past a role in the plot. #That's just the consequence of writing a story like MDZS. Not every character in a book *needs* to have a rich inner life and backstory! #To do so would bog down the story and obliterate any notion of pacing. It's just not possible. #Jin Guangyao (nee Meng Yao) is unfortunately not free from this leeway rule. He is the culprit of this murder mystery plot #and thus NEEDS to encapsulate the themes of the book. And personally he's a 7 out of 10 at best on this front (in the AD). #MDZS is about rumours twisting reality and working towards truth. And about how people & situations are rarely ever black & white #JGY has his motivations. He's well written in regards to his actions making sense for his character. #What started as good traits (drive to succeed & improve his image) became twisted over time (do anything to maintain his image) #and it's a good parallel to WWX! He has the same arc (with different traits)! Bonus points for IGY in that regard. #but man....by the time we confront this guy for murder there's not a lot of grey morality. He's just...deep in the hole *he* dug. #There's a beautiful tragedy to it! More on JGY in later comics - this is getting pretty long already!

#kingdom hearts 3 #kh3 #toy box #scenery #my gif #running around andy's room and seeing sora donald and goofy's toy themed appearance for the first time is such a vivid memory for me #they went so hard making that toy store it's soooo detailed. just imagine all of the assets needed to fill the place #box art for toys; video game cover cases; various figures/toys to put out on display for a variety of different toy departments #they could have remade al's toy barn but no they created this huge three story tall mega super store #it's every kids dream and looks too grand and amazing to be an actual existing building in the toy story canon lol #but even the plot elements of this world are so intriguing #there's the introduction of yozora; the gigas mechs; having sora thrown into a tv screen right into the verum rex game; split worlds #so much happens here and i just know it'll be fully recontextualized in future game installments #i'm really looking forward to that #but all of that aside it's really neat to be toy sized #it's all just such a fun experience. good world

How far they go to preserve it #Yi-city asks a lot of hard questions. As someone who values Honesty above nearly all else- #-the question posed here about whether honesty is truly the correct course of action really gets to me #Lying is a form of kindness in here. And in a story about rumours and manipulations of truth- #its a good parallel to what we see in the main story! #we see the harm caused by trying to lie to be kind. The harm in realizing youve been lied to #there are a lot of plot points around kind lies in mdzs and it facinates me!

#not about really people drawing in this art style and more so the general current trend of bringing it back how little it is explored tho #i have more thoughts on this but this is first and foremost. my other problems are more personal and have to do with #being repulsed by my childhood #the conflict between “this is me liberating my cringe” but not having its own voice to stand on is a core theme in explorerz. that you need #somebody else's language before you can construct your own #and for someone that has always needed to appear independent that hurts #in general this attachment to a homogenous facsimile of history upsets me #i love the art style i really do but something sick arises in my chest when i draw in it #was this art style even ever regarded as cringe? or was it because it was the main one we attached to as kids and we were criticized for #expressing ourselves at all? is it really the art style #also I consider nostalgia an evil #so many disjointed thoughts with no place for #them
