One thing I love about writing dialogue is that I get to give characters different verbal quirks that are unique to them. Shush-ush-ush is one of them for Murph because they picked it up from their mother when they were very young, and now they say it when they're comforting someone else. They also tend to repeat words or short phrases when they're nervous or stressed as a way of hammering a point home or trying to get their thoughts in order (like saying "shut up" three times in a row when they're angry at someone)
