What’s Up With All These Instagram Giveaways? Roundup January 2018

Here's the latest from my blog:

It’s official, Instagram is THEE place to find good giveaways.

I’ve even jumped on the bandwagon because I know that’s where a lot of my peeps hang out.

There are a few reasons why giveaways work so well on the platform.

The element of trust is still pretty fresh.

It’s a lot easier to get someone to like, follow and tag others, than it is to use the traditional online giveaway method where someone has to enter their email and hope they won’t get an onslaught of emails from the host and their partners.

The competition is clearly visible. You can see how many entries there are by checking the number of comments. This gives you an idea of the chances of winning.

Since my agency regularly researches a lot of giveaway posts to find what works and doesn’t for others, I decided I should share some of the favorites every month.

There are a few TOOLS that will help you thru this journey as well. What do I mean by tools? 🔑@thermalhaircare hot head. So key to deep conditioning! The gentle heat open the hair cuticle so it can receive all the benefits of your deep conditioner. #gamechanger 🔑Micro Fiber or Cotton Towel Using a general terry cloth towel can snag the hair and cause frizziness. Some use a simple cotton t-shirt but the shape is weird to me. I have a turbie twist that works just fine. Or you can try this briliant @hairrepair towel. Its cotton and its shape is perfect for holding wet curls in place without drying them out or frizzing them up. Its large size is really helpful for scrunching after applying product and protecting your shoulders (clothes) from getting drenched. This towel is awesome guys! Check them out! 🔑Diffuser I LOVE diffusing. Some prefer air drying and thats just fine. #doyouboo But I really love my @thecurlyco diffuser. It covers more surface and encloses that air for faster drying time. 🔑The @denmanbrush has also changed the game or me. When used correctly it helps me get super curly, defined curls. I am asked about my hair more than any other thing! 🙃 I’m doing no heat on it for a few months so you’ll see lots of curls. . My current products and process: . When it’s still soaking dripping wet from the shower I flip my head upside down (all following steps I remain this way)and divided into three sections. I use my fingers to detangle it as I add the product Curl Keeper to it. I add a lot of it. It has really good slip and allows me to finish the detangling. . I’m out of it right now but my fave next product to add is called kinky curl custard. A scoop of that through my hair (using Lou’s gel currently) I then squeeze from tip to root up excess water into the tub or sink before putting my hair up in a cotton tee shirt to dry further. . After 15 min I remove shirt and either air dry or use the diffuser on low/cool to dry it 70% (pictured here) #naturallycurlyhair #perfectlycurly #embraceyourcurls #curlpower #thecurlyco #curlycosquad

Omg 😲 😫😍🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💕🙏🏾😘gorgeous results boo #Repost @mai_curls ・・・ Check out my #TextureTuesday!!! 👀 I did another Rice Water Rinse on Sunday night which is an excellent, inexpensive Protein Treatment. This time I mixed it with a deep conditioner and left it on my hair for about 45 minutes as a different experiment after reading about this option on @curlycailin.ie 's blog. It resulted in possibly the best curls I've had since I started this journey. My curls are so defined and moisturized! I used one cup of rice and put in a pot with about 3 inches of water above the rice on high heat (per @curlicue_lu ' s super helpful instructions) . Waited until the rice started to boil a little then turned the heat down to medium. Right when the water started turning cloudy, I removed it from the stove and used a fine strainer to get all the rice water out. It will have a creamy thick texture. Mixed 3 teaspoons of @naturallyunitedcurls_ protein free Avocado Deep conditioner (smells so good btw) into the rice rinse. First washed my hair with @sheamoisture JBCO shampoo and then put the rice water rinse + deep conditioner mix on my hair for about 45 minutes. It is a runny and light combo so it kept dripping from beneath my cap. I used double plastic caps lined with small towel just to avoid the mess. I rinsed all out with cold water then used my leave in that I've used all summer on its own: @sheamoisture 100% coconut oil leave in then finished it off with @bouncecurl light creme gel.
