Last Line Tag Game

Thanks for tagging me @teejaystumbles ! A really nice surprise!! :D I am indeed contemplating writing two Dead Boy Detectives fic right now, but they're both in the very early 'being-outlined-in-my-head' stage, haha. They both revolve around post-s1 Edwin pining for Charles, one where Edwin takes matters into his own hands and one where he decides to have a chat with the Cat King about it. Not sure if they'll ever be written but they're intriguing!

But for the sake of the tag game, here's a lengthy bit from a Dreamling wip I've slowly been chipping away at for a few months!

A scene from Every Little Thing (Working Title)— In which Morpheus is a figure drawing professor who has just been fired from a film production based on his comics, and Hob does part-time figure modeling and is determined befriend the aforementioned professor.

Morpheus picks his class schedules wisely— he runs two first year general figure drawing classes, at 8 a.m. and at noon on Mondays and Thursdays. He helps the uni’s live figure workshop club on Wednesdays and Fridays at 6 p.m., and meets his sister for lunch on Wednesdays. All other free time was dedicated for his industry work. That wouldn’t be a concern anymore, would it. By the time Morpheus unlocks the door to the studio, sets his bag down by his desk, and starts fiddling with the ceiling studio lights pointed at the model stand, all of Morpheus’ thoughts have reduced to pure spite. Fine, maybe the big studios don’t want him. They don’t deserve him, then, their loss. His portfolio and repertoire are infamous in the industry, they’ll be crawling back to him in no time. Too bad, maybe he would have started his own production studio and he’ll end up with the next ground-breaking animated film. Maybe— Morpheus’ thoughts are interrupted by a knock at the door. He shakes himself out of it, calling, “Come in.” A glance at his watch tells him it’s only 7:48, perhaps it’s an overeager student here early. It’s only the second week of the semester, they grab every opportunity to prove themselves with a spirited step that Morpheus might be slightly envious of. “Hello, Morpheus Endeles?” Hearing his full name startles Morpheus, and he turns from the lighting settings to the door. “Yes?” The man who steps into view can only be described as radiant. He can’t be much older than Morpheus, not much taller either but wider in the shoulders. His hair is cropped just above his shoulders and he sports a neatly kept beard. Morpheus registers this all first simply because of his profession but— he gets caught on the man’s brilliant smile and deep brown eyes. There’s something there that knocks all thoughts clear out of Morpheus’ head. The stranger smiles warmly, smiles like he already cares. “I’m here to model for the morning and noon figure classes?” The man says. Morpheus clears his throat and steps forward, “Yes, this is the right studio.” He extends a hand, “Robert Gadling, I presume?” The man takes his hand— god, he’s so warm— and shakes it steadily, “Please, call me Hob! All my friends do.”

I'm a sucker for the 'Morpheus catalogues Hob's appearance during their first meeting' trope in most Dreamling human AU fics, I couldn't not do it too :]

Besides this, I've also got a Dreamling Velvet Goldmine-ish AU fic that I want to get done this summer. I'm a very slow and ruminative writer so let's see if I can commit to any of these fics now that I've posted about them lol!

So Howdy is basically that one annoying ass kid in high school who’d call everyone around him ‘queer’ as an insult when it’s pretty obvious that he was gay himself and self projecting? Lmaooo i love it and it really does explain a lot!

Ngl though and I’m not trying to bash on laughingstock but i think it’s EDDIE that Howdy might be crushing on since in the banner on the previous update, Howdy’s icon is looking at Eddie’s.

I think he treats him hostilely is because he has feelings for him and he doesn’t know how to process them and so it comes out as anger and passive aggressive resentment.

Ofc I don’t think he’d be the best partner for Eddie due to this… I do think though that when it’s revealed that Eddie and Frank are madly in love that it’s going to cause Howdy to feel more anger and maybe even hatred towards the two.

i'd be willing to hear this theory out if there was any evidence other than "Howdy is looking at him in the banner" (and Home is looking at Howdy, and Barn is looking at Wally, and Wally is looking at Us, and Julie is looking at Frank - it doesn't necessarily connotate romance) and the idea of Howdy's treatment of Eddie being a "get out of my school" type of thing.

but if that were the case, wouldn't we have seen more evidence by now? like... Any?? Howdy and Eddie have had minimal interaction, and in each one Howdy was fully disinterested and dismissive of Eddie. there is literally nothing in his behavior or dialogue that implies romantic feelings, repressed or otherwise. you'd think that Howdy would at least get a little flustered or defensive, but he doesn't! all he expresses is disinterest and slight annoyance.

and this just... doesn't feel like a story where a major plot point is "character A is jealous of the established relationship because A is in love with one of them". it's a bit... how do i say? Tacky, perhaps? a touch basic? a teeny bit uninspired...

and character-wise, Howdy having feelings for Eddie doesn't make much sense (the thought that Howdy's treatment of him stems from romantic feelings Definitely doesn't). it doesn't really fit him and what we know about him? there's a reason Howdy views Eddie as a rival, i think.

hi milgramblr today I had a dream that Mikoto and Hatsune Miku were teaching Haruka how to play tennis, in the playground of the middle school I went to. It was very peaceful and cute, Haruka was doing his best and they were very gentle and patient with him, and were really excited when he scored. Then for some reason, the scene suddenly changed to this haunted house level from a race game I used to play with my uncle on his PS2 when I was very little (can't remember its name at all but it was like. minuscule cars racing idk how to describe it lol), but in the dream I kinda just "knew" that this location was also a Scooby Doo episode (though the scooby gang never appeared LMAO) Accordingly with the scene change all 3 of them had to start running while still playing tennis. Of course since the game is old, the graphics were low, so it was really funny seeing all 3 of them in an HD anime style running surrounded by poorly rendered ground and trees etc. Then for some reason the castle from ~2:45 in Bring It On appeared

and Fuuta came running out of the castle scared shitless because he was being chased by a witch because he refused her cookies, but for some reason the witch was Zatsune Miku ("dark" derivative of Hatsune Miku) and she was like 10x bigger than everyone else, like a giant. Then a tennis racket appeared in Fuuta's hand and he had to join Mikoto, Haruka and Miku in the tennis game while running. Suddenly Zatsune disappeared and they were all able to stop and play normally for a moment, then the scene changed again but to this farm level of the same race game I mentioned above. Mahiru was playing with the chickens at the farm, then suddenly a tennis racket appeared in her hand and she joined the game and everyone had to start running again. They weren't being chased by anything this time though. Mahiru and Mikoto were having SO MUCH FUN!!! MIKOTO WAS HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE. Miku too but she was more focused on teaching Haruka how to play, everyone was encouraging him very nicely. Fuuta was still scared a little bit and insisted that he liked soccer better, but he was also secretly having fun. The scene changed a third time to this classroom-turned-storage-room in the elementary school I went to, and for some reason John was in the closet (LMAO) of this classroom (I don't remember there being a closet in the classroom I have no idea why there was one in the dream) and he was really upset they started playing without him and just watched from where he was in the closet (looks like the endless running while playing tennis curse didn't work on him im sorry John). The classroom was like 5x bigger than it actually is, so they were able to play tennis comfortably for once, and during all of this, Kazui and the Lich (from Adventure Time) were sitting on lifeguard chairs, their positions unchanging, watching and commentating on this monstrosity of a dream I had that I decided to share with you all. They weren't even really commentating, the Lich was eating some cookies with tea and Kazui was just making jokes about everything.

Also, none of the Milgram characters were wearing their prison clothes except Kazui

#kingdom hearts dream drop distance #khddd #la cite des cloches #scenery #my gif #the battle music that plays here creates such a cool and grand atmosphere #i'm so used to spending most of my time in the town or at the cathedral that i forget how dark and gloomy this world can be #sora has to walk past thousands upon thousands of skeletal remains and we don't even get a single cutscene of him reacting to any of it #but i like that there are at least some big open spaces that let you go crazy with flowmotion and climb up the tall buildings and towers #and that you can actually climb up the cathedral from the town square below #but one of my favorite parts in the whole game is playing through riku's side of the story in this world #i love the themes it explores and the insight it provides for his character. so good

Hey, sorry if this is totally out of line, but I just thought I'd warn you about that corn kidz game. It has some pretty strong anti-immigration dog whistles in the second level, just letting you know so you can be prepared

oops saw this too late but yeah, I did pick up on some weird vibes in the NPC dialogue in that area while I was playing, but I wasn't sure if I should make anything of it. a lot of the game's "humor" (and also just like. major game design elements if I'm being honest) kinda bounced right off of me and put me in a less-than-great mood for most of my playthrough, so I was hesitant to criticize anything I wasn't fully sure about in case it was just me being a grump because I died from fall damage too many times. I'm often kinda wary of looking for Objective Serious Reasons to justify why I don't vibe with something subjectively, and doubly so when my judgment is already clouded by frustration.

but like, in hindsight yeah, the conflict presented between the pigs and owls was VERY fucking sketchy?? and like. in most other games I MIGHT be inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt, and say it wasn't intended to have greater meaning or was just handled clumsily. but with how deliberately mean-spirited and edgy the tone/writing is everywhere else, it's hard to feel like the allusions to heavier shit weren't intentional. the bit at the end of the level with the mayor whining about what a pain it was to accommodate the owls by canceling a festival that actively excluded them, or to keep the town's name changed as reparations for literally murdering their leader (and the protagonist not only agreed with him, but actively insisted those accommodations were stupid because they made his own efforts feel pointless), was when I really started to be like "hey this feels wrong" but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was at the time.

I don't think it's concrete enough that I would tell people not to play or enjoy the game over it, cuz there really isn't much in the way of story in the game anyways and generally it's not what people are playing it for, but it's certainly something worth keeping an eye out for. as someone who already didn't have a great time with the gameplay, the writing really didn't help my opinion of it, especially not now

Disclaimer: I'm talking about the symbolisms of sun signs as something absolute because they're fictional characters. Real human beings are more complex than this and you are not your sun sign alone. Also notice that assuming the sun signs were intentionally chosen for the characters, it means they carry it somehow - in their personalities, and/or stories, and/or symbols.

1 - Matthias

Laws is a subject that belongs to the upper spheres. There is a hierarchy of planets -- the ones that deal with more physical, day-to-day subjects, and the ones that take care of some deeper stuff, such as philosophy, religion, and... Laws.

In Astrology, you have Jupiter to create the laws, and Saturn to apply them.

Saturn is inexorable. It does what needs to be done, and it punishes who needs to be punished. It doesn't matter if the person is a peasant or a king. This is why this quote of Matthias sounds VERY Saturnine to me. Like death, laws should befall everyone (ideally at least).

Another thing about Saturn is that it is cold and dry, and rules invernal signs -- Capricorn and Aquarius. Naturally, it rules over cold, dry and snowy places too, like, you know, Achroite. Another sign Saturn finds joy in by Exaltation is Libra -- symbolized by escales, and again, Achroite's crest.

Now, Mercury-ruled Virgo... Owl is a mercurial animal, so points on that. Virgo is a very dutiful sign that needs to bring order to chaos too, but it's still a Mutable sign of Mercury, which means skepticism.

Even wearing the clothes of an Earth sign, Mercury is always Mercury, and Mercury will never admit there's only one truth. There are countless truths, countless paths, countless overcomes spinning incessantly inside its head. And Mutable signs deal with the world changing around them, being Virgo the one that have to face one of the most crucial changes there is: Summer becoming Autumn. This is why Virgo is constantly anxious. They know harsher times approach, and they have to save provisions to go through it.

Basically, Virgo thinks way too much, acts more towards organization and taking care of the tiniest, littlest details, and being Mercury one of the lowest spheres, its realm is practical and realistic. I don't see much space to believe in something with an almost religious fervour, like Matthias apparently does with laws (btw Mercury is VERY opposite to Jupiter). Soulmates? Even less.

Methinks Matthias seems more like a Libra. Saturn in the realm of Venus, that carries something idealistic in itself (although less than Jupiter) and dreams of love.

2. Azel

Where shall I start? As I said above, Mercury can be seem as the opposite of Jupiter. While Mercury is realistic, skeptical, detail-oriented, etc., Jupiter is idealistic, a huge believer, that focus on the big picture and can't mind the details.

Ultimately, Jupiter is about faith. And Jupiter manifests in two signs: Sagittarius and Pisces. Here I'm gonna focus on Sagittarius.

Sagittarius, like Virgo, is Mutable -- a double-bodied sign represented by a centaur, half man, half horse. Half benevolent, optimistic, lenient, wise. A man that looks to the stars seeking the truth and is guided by his ideals and faith. But also half ruthless, harsh, proud, imprudent. A belligerent and self-indulgent beast that looks at its own ambitions. I feel that some tend to remember Sagittarius only for its adventurous spirit and good mood, but this sign IS double-bodied and originally feared for its brutal nature.

Oh, and Sagittarius is brutally honest as well. Always beware when you ask their opinions if you're not ready for certain answers.

Well, other than this, Sagittarius is the eternal search for the truth beyond mundane matters. And it involves religions and gods and divination and mystical, esoteric stuff, and all that jazz. Sagittarius is also the foreigner and either the new horizons it opens OR the "mysteries" it beholds. Sagittarius can be seen in the... ahn... "Arabian Nights" Days trope (sorry).

So you have Azel, the God prince, with his horse unicorn crest, his mystical motifs, his "arabian nights" days kingdom, his two-faced personality, AND HE'S NOT A SAGITTARIUS.

And there's no Sagittarius prince*, really, I don't understand why he couldn't be one and have his birthday like, one month later. But okay.

So, he's a Scorpio. A F I X E D, very stable sign of Mars that is related to everything that punctures, cuts, penetrates the skin and poison. Scorpio hides itself behind a shell and hates being exposed/vulnerable. It means they can hide their true nature, but there's a difference between being reserved and two-faced. It's also a sign that does search for hidden meanings, but not out of belief or faith. It's a more strategic sign, and belligerent too, but not in a straight, plain sighted way. It's a nocturnal sign, it acts when no one is looking. Funny thing too, the Moon (Tanzanite's symbol) is not in a good place when in Scorpio.

I can see one thing or two in what I know so far or speculate about Azel, but when it comes to symbols and themes, I still think Sagittarius would fit him better.

*It can be argued that Gilbert is a Sagittarius because many sources will tell you Sun enters Capricorn 12/22, but this is not 100% precise. Depending on the year, Sun can perfectly be in Capricorn in 12/21. And looking at Gilbert's demeanour and symbols, Obsidian and all, to me he's a Capricorn through and through.
