semi-complete saturday
thank you for the tag @sanjuwrites and thank you to @heartstringsduet for coming up with this!
rules: share one scene or art that never made it into a/the finished piece and probably never will. (and if you want, share what it was supposed to be and why you left it out or never finished it)
i actually have an doc of outtakes from you saw the truth in me. there were a few scenes i rewrote because i just wasn't happy with them (i have this thing about never deleting anything in case i may want to use it later lol) this is a scene that almost made it into the fic but was ultimately cut because i never felt like i got the tone of tk's instagram post quite right.
On his next day off, Carlos decides to pack up his stuff and spend the morning in a coffee shop. He gathers his laptop and headphones and slips them into his bag, and then heads to the nearest one, only a couple blocks away from his apartment.
He orders his latte and finds a table at the back, then opens his computer and pulls up the Excel spreadsheet he’s been using to track client progress. He started this system a couple years ago, after pen and paper had gotten to be too cumbersome. He kept ending up with filled notebooks and running out of places to store them, and every time he needed to reference an old one, he’d tear his entire place up looking for it. The switch to digital was annoying, but necessary.
Eventually, he’d taken an afternoon to sit and separate all his data into different sheets and put in a color-coding method he still uses, to this day, to track everything.
Carlos pulls up TK’s and looks over what he’s programmed for him. He doesn’t want to change anything yet. TK is still struggling with push-ups. He’s been doing them slightly elevated for the past couple of weeks, and that’s working, but he’s not quite ready to do them the way they’re traditionally done on the floor. Carlos wants to give him another week with the modification before they start that.
They need to get into the water at some point, but that’s less important than dry land training, ironically enough. TK doesn’t need to actually swim at the level of an Olympian, he just needs to look the part. The exercises they’re doing in the weight room are much more important in getting him there.
He's been doing really well, so far. It’s actually pretty impressive how fast he’s picked up things. He’s still barely saying two words to Carlos during sessions, but he does everything asked without an issue. It’s a little scary how obedient he is. Carlos has never had a client like that.
He closes Excel and pulls up Google. He did this a while back, right after he signed the contract, but since the casting announcement has officially gone out, there’s sure to be more. He types in TK’s name and waits for the search to load.

And there are hundreds more like it, from big and small publications alike. TMZ has some not so nice words for TK, but they’re TMZ, and Carlos didn’t expect much else. Some of the other websites, though, have him fuming a little. He clicks on the articles and skims them, and they’re exactly what he figured they would be: a ton of speculation, very little detail, and multiple paragraphs about the series of incidents that ended TK’s career in the first place.
Carlos has read all of this before, but it stings a little, having now met him. The talk of his addiction and his intoxication on set, how there was a period of a few months where he was constantly drunk, high, or both, his violent outbursts at random seedy bars, and a failed engagement that TK’s ex seems far too delighted to keep speaking on. None of it paints TK in a good light.
But none of it allows him to defend himself, either. There’s no room for his side of the story.

The statement was posted to all of his social media accounts. TK’s tweeted a couple of times since then, but there hasn’t been another post on his Instagram or Facebook. Both of his profiles feel like graveyards, homages to the person he used to be. The pictures of him smiling with interview hosts and squished into group shots stop after a while, until it only becomes photos at nightclubs. There’s a picture of what Carlos assumes is TK as a little kid, held by a woman with curly brown hair and a wide smile.
He clicks on that one, and freezes. The threat of tears is a shock, but his eyes well up immediately.
I’ll miss you forever.
That’s the last post before his statement, dated about six months before.
It’s a little dizzying, seeing it laid out like this. He thinks back to what Mateo was saying at dinner the other day, TK’s mom dying and his boyfriend’s infidelity happening in quick succession, how that was what set things off. Six months later, a statement about struggling with substance abuse.
Something twists in Carlos’s chest. He reaches forward to shut the lid of his laptop, suddenly feeling a little sick.

Consistency: OOF! Yup, that's where we're headed today.
Literally this one is going to be rough all over the place. Buckle up!
Being real, this word alone gives me PTSD of a past relationship that I jacked up because I myself wasn't consistent. This is one of those relationships that forced me to learn who I was, because he didn't deserve me in that state. I know you read these, and I'm sorry to you, too.
Side bar, man am I glad I did the work ... .I just did it a little too late for some partners.
Anyway, here we go.
Are you the type of person that gets overly excited about a new task or project and the excitement wears off in a week? Yeah, I used to be too. Until I learned a few tricky tricks.
“Plan your work, and work your plan.”- Dale Vermillion. Dale is an incredibly intelligent handsome man who works in realty and mortgage lending.
This step is the most crucial. The planning, and the working of the plan. Start with setting some goals. Example: Weight loss, Work less hours and be home, Play your guitar more, put more legos together…and so on.
Once you have a goal…set some timelines to it. Specific timelines. Deadlines if you will. Example: I want to lose weight by the end of the year. Great…now you have a deadline as to when this goal will be reached. Let's take it a few steps further though …let's get granular.
Make SMART Goals. Smart, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.
Losing weight by the end of the year is great…but how much weight are we going to lose per month? Per week? Per day? How many calories are we going to intake? See…lots of questions to drill this bad boy down to make it realistic to achieve.
Speaking of calories…little tidbit. Losing weight is all about calorie intake - calorie outtake. 3500 Calories = 1 pound. Eat less calories…lose weight….eat more calories..maintain or increase your weight.
Now listen, I'm not a nutritionist…so don't get your panties in a twist….I just know what I know.
Tell everyone! Keep yourself accountable to whatever task you’re trying to complete.
This will help drastically with your success or failure in my humble opinion. If you're the struggle in silence type…by all means, go for it. I would highly recommend journaling at minimum throughout that timeframe. It helps with the overwhelming anxiety that is caused when we put too much pressure on ourselves to achieve a goal. No shame in journaling.
Prepare yourself mentally for disappointment and setbacks. There's a reason why companies forecast potential revenue loss….they know anything can happen and are ready with a plan if it does.
Example: I will lose 50 pounds by the end of the year. I will achieve this by eating less than 3500 calories a day and losing 1 pound every three days, which equals a 2 pound loss each week. Two pounds lost per week = 8 pounds in a month. So I can realistically lose 8 pounds in a month IF i dont over or under eat. So My goal would then change accordingly to allow flux . Hopefully, that makes sense.
Keep it moving…don't Quit! Show up for yourself every freaking day. Do small things daily to build up to the end goal. Whatever that may be ... .if you need help with goal setting reach out to me. I can totally help with that confidentially.
Consistency is hard. Really hard. Especially if you are in a mental or physical fog. You just don't have the will to meet your goals today… THIS is why we allow for flux. We can't be 100% everyday. Some days are going to be zero days. Nothing gets accomplished, laundry stacks, dishes in sink, kids in the same clothes as yesterday, reports for work haven't been written…and so on. It's okay, we planned for this to happen. Be easy on yourself…no progress is still progress. You have not chosen to completely stop. Keep moving.
Some things that help me stay consistent:
Calendars, Calendars, Calendars…for REAL! I legit have a consistent calendar I use in Microsoft Excel to budget. Yeah, a spreadsheet.
Alarms and Reminders in any of my devices. I have reminders to shower, make coffee, do yoga, meditate, comb my hair( Yeah it was that bad at one point- my zero days).
Affirmations EVERYWHERE! Flood yourself with hand written affirmations. I used to have them on chakra colored post notes all around my house.
Journaling/Blogging. It gets the old out sometimes. Makes room for the new.
Tea, Yoga, and Meditation…these are my Holy trinity. It's my safe space.
Your environment. Look around you. Check your five senses? What smells? Sounds? Anything that makes you turn your nose up or cringe….get it out! Refresh everything! This is also making room for fresh new ideas, thoughts, and space. I use sage, incense, candles, aroma diffusers, orange himalayan lamps, meditation music, twinkle lights, artwork that makes me happy ...all the good things.
Lastly, check the people you surround yourself with. Are they pushing or pulling you from your goals? Really evaluate that. Blinders off. Take stock. Maybe they need to go for a while, so you can focus on yourself? So be it. If they love you, they will understand and either wait for you or be supportive with you. If a person has an opportunity to rid themselves of someone or something toxic in their life, they should take that chance for themselves. If they don't…what self worth do they or YOU have?

Plagg and the Butterfly Costume Outtakes: Ch.2
Set after PatBC chapter 6
Plagg is willing to do a lot in order to get more cheese. When he’s spotted one too many times en route to the kitchen, he decides that a disguise is in order. One purple costume later, and Plagg is free to flit down to the kitchen without people thinking that he’s a rat.
And then he gets caught.

A Peculiar Request Pt. 1
To say that Max was surprised when Ladybug and Chat Noir showed up at his window was an understatement. Chat Noir was positive that he had never seen anyone so puzzled before.
"Is there an akuma?" Max inquired as soon as he opened his window to let them in. When they shook their heads, he frowned in confusion. "No? Then why...?"
"We need some tech help, and you were the first person that came to mind to ask," Ladybug told him. Max looked pleased, though clearly he was trying to hide it.
"Really? Me?"
"You figured out how to build a robot with emotions," Chat Noir pointed out. "And we've heard that you developed software to counter a super-virus. You're good with this kind of stuff."
Max looked a little starstruck as he nodded. "I'll certainly help if I can," he promised. "What do you need?"
"We need to know how to put security camera feed on loop," Chat Noir told Max. He handed over the slip of paper with all of the information about that part of his father's security system that he and Plagg (and apparently Ladybug's kwami as well, though when she had been close enough for that he didn't know) had found. "That's the info about the system. Just let us know if it's missing any information you need and we'll try to find it for you."
"No problem," Max said immediately, adjusting his glasses as he scanned the sheet. "This looks like a fairly common system, actually. I'm ninety-eight percent positive that I'll be able to find the information you need for this without too much trouble."
"We also need a virus," Ladybug added, and if Chat Noir had thought Max looked startled before, he was wrong. Max looked as though he could be knocked over by a feather.
(An artificial feather, of course. Chat Noir had no desire to set off his allergies.)
"A- a virus?"
"Yeah," Ladybug said. "Something that wipe all of the files from a certain user on a computer, preferably without affecting other users on that same computer."
Chat Noir nodded. That last requirement- well, request, really- was something Ladybug had suggested. He himself hadn't thought of it- in his opinion, his father would damn well deserve it if he lost all of his design files on his computer as well, but Ladybug had pointed out that it might not be a great idea to enrage Mr. Agreste too much. If he thought that just the Miraculous filed were lost he would surely be annoyed but think that he could just scan everything in again, no real harm done. If everything on the computer was lost including his original designs, he would probably fly into a fury and might end up taking some of his mood out on Adrien.
Sure, it might make it easier for him to give up any remaining love for his father, but it didn't make sense for him to make his life harder.
"It'll be easy enough to limit it to one account as long as the user you want to affect doesn't have administrative privileges," Max said after a moment's pause, still looking positively baffled. "It'll be more difficult to limit it if it does have those privileges."
Chat Noir blinked, lost, and glanced at Ladybug. She didn't look any less confused than he felt. Max looked at the both of them, sighed, and elaborated.
"The administrative account is often the main one, for most home users," Max told them. "If it's a computer in a business then it probably isn't an administrative account, but it might have administrative privileges. You can check- hold on, let me write down some instructions for you." Max turned and pulled a blank sheet of paper out of the printer by his desk and started writing on it. "If it's a business account it probably won't have administrative privileges, but either way, it would be a good idea to check." Max finished writing and handed the paper over to Chat Noir before regarding them curiously. "If you don't mind me asking, what is this for?"
Ladybug and Chat Noir exchanged a glance. They had decided easily enough that they weren't going to tell Max who Hawkmoth was or that they were targeting Gabriel Agreste, but they had decided that they could trust Max with the fact that it was Hawkmoth that they would be targeting.
"We've discovered who Hawkmoth is," Ladybug started, and Max's eyes went huge behind his glasses. "And he has some information that we would rather that he not have. At the moment it's in code so it's not exactly something he could have memorized, but we don't want him to have it long enough to decipher it."
"We'll be switching out the physical copies he has for fakes," Chat Noir chimed in. "But he scanned things into his computer, so we want those destroyed. Or, rather, we're going to transfer his files to a really big flash drive so we can see what he knows, and then we need the virus to make sure he can't, y'know, somehow recover stuff from backup or whatever or if we missed something, and to give us some cover."
"You want something that he won't realize that someone came in and took his files," Max filled in. "Okay. So you need a virus that makes itself known, not just one that works in the background. Something obnoxious. I can do obnoxious." He grinned.
Chat Noir was suddenly very, very glad that Max was on their side. The look of glee on his face as he considered the virus he was going to design was rather eerie. Ladybug must have felt the same, since she spoke up again.
"We just want one user affected," she reminded Max. "No matter how tempting it is to destroy all of his work. If we tick him off too much, he might take it out on the city by making even more akuma than usual...or he might take it out on his kid, who definitely doesn't deserve any of this."
Much to Chat Noir's relief, Max's expression dialed way back in intensity. "Oh, right. I didn't think about that. Okay, I'll limit the virus, but I do have to know about the administrative access on the account."
"We'll try to find that out," Chat Noir promised. "And then we'll let you know as soon as possible. And thank you so much for your help. We really appreciate it."
"I think that went well," Ladybug commented after they had said good-bye to Max and he had waved them out of his room, clearly eager to start work, though he had tried to hide it. "I'm glad I said something more about why we don't want everything on Hawkmoth's computer destroyed, though. I trust Max, but I think he might have been getting big ideas revenge for the attacks through the virus."
Chat Noir nodded. "Yeah. I think he'll be more careful now for sure." He pulled the paper that Max had given him out of his pocket and looked down at it. "Now I have to do is have my kwami try to follow this and figure out the administrative thing." He was willing to bet that his father's Miraculous account wouldn't be the administrative one, partly because the design account on the same computer had surely been there longer but mostly because Nathalie would know all about how viruses spread on the computers and would have taken steps to make sure that nothing would be able to bring the whole system down. In fact, he vaguely recalled Nathalie telling him something similar when she set up his computer account for him several years back. He had ended up with both an admin account and his own personal account that he actually used on his computer.
That was a good sign, at least.
"I could have my kwami do it, too," Ladybug said, looking surprised by his assumption that he would be the one to have his kwami look at Mr. Agreste's computer. "There's no reason why you should have to do all of the work, Chat Noir. Seriously."
"It's no problem at all," Chat Noir promised her, trying his best not to laugh. No reason for him to do all of the work? Living in the same house as Hawkmoth was a pretty good reason for him- or rather Plagg- to take on the lion's share of the work. All he had to do personally was to sit in his room (like normal) and supply cheese (more than normal) while Plagg zipped around the house. If Ladybug investigated, she would have to try to lurk close to the mansion without getting spotted or questioned by Nathalie or the police. "Really, I, uh- I live close enough nearby that I don't even need to leave home for Plagg to be able to sneak over. That's how he found out about Hawkmoth in the first place, too. I wasn't having him search or investigate or anything."
"Okay," Ladybug finally agreed, though she sent him a funny look for some reason. "If you say so. But your kwami is doing so much already! Tikki said that he was disabling something in the lair and that it would take a lot of energy, especially since you're not in the same area."
"He can handle it," Chat Noir promised, patting Ladybug's arm. "Don't worry about it, 'bug. All I need to do is supply my kwami with extra cheese and he's fine with doing a little extra poking around." Maybe that wasn't entirely true- Plagg's grumbles about being asked to investigate had been increasing as of late- but Ladybug didn't need to know how lazy Plagg was.
A yell attracted their attention then, and both superheroes glanced over to see an orange and purple-clad person zipping over the rooftops away from them. They sighed in unison.
"Well, duty calls," Chat Noir commented, tucking Max's paper back into his pocket. "Shall we?"
"That sounds like a plan."

There is! The Wiki’s really helpful when it comes to non-series pairings (here’s Morgan and Theo’s page, with links to stories)
And there’s a really handy filterable spreadsheet for outtakes (anything that isn’t a series) that will indicate where everything is. (in the case of Morgan/Theo I am pretty sure everything is on tumblr (then AO3) and Patreon.)

do NOT under any circumstances have sweets in the house
stop using sweetener it fuckin superchargers insulin production (note to self: find sweetener alternative that aint sugar)
my personal lifesaver is gelatin with lemon juice (annnd sweetener but we're trying to phase it out shhh) its delicious, 67 calories AND a great help in getting 0.75 litres of water in the morning cuz my adhd brain LOVES the consistency of jello
an apple a day makes you feel healthy and discourages from eating more (somehow. idk why)
i kept an excel spreadsheet with my calorie intake and outtake but nowadays i just eat once a day and really little so when i go over its not a tragedy (i still check calories and carbs, i just dont write em down)
always always round 15% up esp foods that dont have an exact calorie label (or those you need a measuring cup for... which i dont have...)
hm maybe get a measuring cup
dont weigh yourself every day (just 3 times on the weekends then average em)
have fasting days and more-than-600-cals days to keep your metabolism on your toes
keep an okayish sleeping schedule (ironic as im writing this at 3 am but it helps with metabolism)

THE NORDSTROM BUYING OFFICE: SARAH RAY’S OUTTAKE
The NYC Nordstrom buying office was a pleasure to visit. Going into the visit I had a basic knowledge of the company. As large retailers like Barney’s and JCP struggle to stay relevant, Nordstrom had been preparing for the e-commerce boom. Nordstrom has many branches in their company and I was very happy to get to learn about Hautelook and Nordstrom Rack, Nordstrom's other business ventures. Hearing about how the company works from many different locations was very intriguing. Sometimes it can be hard to work with the average co-worker but to have to do so in time-sensitive situations from across the country and time-zones would take a very articulate and assertive team. Meeting Jamie and hearing from her about Nordstrom culture, it makes sense how the company has done better than just “staying afloat”. They look for go-getters and people who aren't afraid to ask questions to be able to get the job done.
I had heard of Hautelook and assumed it was just a trendier sister company to Nordstrom Rack. I got to learn about how the two businesses vary quite a lot, despite both of them being marketed as discount stores/platforms. I enjoyed hearing about her time in beauty and how she was part of the launch for the Rack’s beauty as well. Buying, for many, seems very number oriented and spreadsheet-based but as Jamie explained her job and the many aspects of it, it was obvious how much more went into the title. In many ways, it seemed like her position allowed her to be analytical and creative at the same time.
It was hard to hear about the reality of living in New York from Jamie, who is working in a dream job for many people. Even working in corporate America can not make the cost of living in NYC doable. It is so costly to live here and even If I landed my dream job it’s hard to face the reality that I could not take it due to do the cost of living here specifically.

ok i just updated my spreadsheet and added a column of like. have i listened to this song or not. and there's only 65 to 102 (not 100% sure on 37 of them) that i've not listened to. admittedly this spreadsheet includes all of the jordan lake sessions and all demos as separate entries than the album versions of things but like. that's out of 851 songs. i have listened to more mountain goats than i realize.
aside: the number 851 is not an actual representation of songs by the mountain goats. this is on account of. the inclusion of rarities and live only songs on my spreadsheet is not yet as comprehensive as possible. that is a losing game though.
like. i realized today i don't even have going to federal prison listed w/ the tallahasse outtakes & i definitely haven't even begun to consider things i don't have access to but that seem very likely to exist, like songs for charon or 60% wolf. let alone whether there's covers that should be considered canonical, like houseguest.
i am hopefully going to be updating the publicly posted version of my tmg spreadsheet soon though :^)
