Pairings: Logicality, Remile
AU Summary: Logan has always loved museums. The art, sculptures and just the peace and quiet made Logan fall in love with it's history everytime. What happens if Logan doesn't only fall in love with the art work, but also with the museum's newest visitor?
Chapter summary: Logan promised to go to that outing with Remy. Regretting all his life choices, they go to the cafe and Logan gets a suprise
Chapter 1, Chapter 2
Chapter 3: Date ditching and domestic scenes
"Come on Sugar! You're taking ages to get ready!"
Logan rolled his eyes as he straightened his tie. If he had to go to this outing then he, at least, had to look decent. Logan had been dreading this 'date-not-date' for days, but he'd promised Remy to go. So that's where he found himself at the moment, fixing his hair in the bathroom mirror, with a whining Remy in the background.
"We have an hour left before we are expected Remy. We're actually going to be half an hour early if we leave now."
Remy grapped his jacket and took a last glance in the mirror before practically pulling Logan outside.
"Just hurry up!"
Logan let out a groan as he locked the door of his apartment. Why had he ever agreed to this?
They had only been driving for 5 minute before Remy started whining again.
"Babes are you sure that I picked the right shirt? I couldn't decide between 'daisy white' and 'pearl white' and now I'm wondering if I should have gone for 'powder white'- Logan don't laugh! This is a serious question!"
Logan chuckled when Remy hit his arm. They had spent what felt like hours on deciding between two white shirts (that were in Logan's opinion the exact same thing) and the whole situation just amused him.
A lot of pouting and angry glares later, the two finally arrived at the cafe. Remy struggled to push open the large door, but bruised it off when his gaze landed on a boy in a oversized pink sweater.
That must be Emile
After Logan had ordered himself and Remy, who forgot about them as soon as he saw Emile, a cup of coffee, he followed Remy. Logan had never seen Remy walk this fast and struggled a bit to stay behind him.
When he finally made it to the other boys, Logan heard some laughter and at that exact second, his heart stopped.
No. No way that this was happening right now. But Logan knew that it had to be true, he could recognize that giggle everywhere.
He turned his head towards the sound and yes, he had been right. At the opposite side of Remy and Emile sat Patton Foster, looking beautiful as ever, wearing a blue button up and a navi blue sweater.
When Patton caught sight of Logan, his face turned into a mix of confusion and excitement.
"Logan? You're friends with Remy? Oh that's so wonderful!"
"You already know Logan?" Emile looked confused at Patton, then at Logan and back at Patton again.
He let out a giggle and motioned for Logan to sit next to him. "Yeay! He's helping me out with the project!"
Logan took the seat next to Patton and handed Remy his cappuccino. His cheeks turned slightly pink when he noticed that Patton had turned around and Logan became overly aware of the fact that their knees were touching.
"How has your week been Lo? I didn't expect to see you this soon!" Patton playfully winked at Logan before taking a sip of his tea, oblivious to the fact that he had just almost killed Logan with his actions. He could faintly hear Remy and Emile discussing some new cartoon in the background.
"Satisfactory I suppose. I just finished the last test of the semester, so I now finally have some free time again."
Just when Patton was about to respond, Remy stood up and smiled mischievously at Logan,
"I'm sorry Sugar, but Ems and I are going to my place. See you later babes, have fun!" And with that, they left the cafe
Okay, it was official. Logan was going to kill Remy.
"Wow okay, that was weird." Patton let out an awkward giggle and continued, "Looks like it's just us then huh? I hope you don't mind that.. I know that you came here for Remy so I'd understand if you want to leave ri-"
"Patton, do you want to meet Minerva?"
Logan had no idea where that burst of confidence came from, but Patton had looked sad and Logen absolutely hated it.
"Really?? Oh my whiskers I would love that so much!" Patton wiggled in his seat and tried to hide his smile behind his hands. He practically radiated happiness.
Logan paid for both of their drinks and held the door open for Patton. Patton giggled at this and gave Logan a sweet smile. Logan then realised what exactly he had suggested. Patton fricking Foster was coming to his apartment.
Oh gosh no, what was he thinking? Yeay sure inviting your crush over is absolutely a great idea! He could feel his hands starting to shake and his breathing went faster and faster.
Before Logan's thoughts could spiral any further down, Patton took his hand, squeezing it gently. Logan's cheeks turned bright red and when he looked down at Patton, he saw that he had turned light pink.
When they finally made it to the parking lot, after a really awkward car ride, Logan sprinted to the other side of the car to open the door for Patton, helping him out the car.
"You're such a gentleman Logan, thank you." Logan gave Patton a small smile before leading him towards his apartment.
Logan opened the door, being careful so Minerva wouldn't escape, and motioned for Patton to come in. He took his jacket and after he put them away, they walked towards the living room. Suddenly he started to become really anxious about his apartment. He had cleaned up recently right? What if Patton thought that it looked weird? Sure, Logan liked his apartment, with its bookshelves, constellation themed pillows and science posters. Of course it also had its own little place for Logan's cat, but was it decent enough for Patton?
"Minerva? Princess? Where are you darling?"
"Oh my sweetgosh you give her petnames?" Patton giggled and went to sit down next to Logan on his couch.
"Well, yeay, she's my little princess." Logan blushed slightly and started fighting with his hands. He placed his hands awkwardly next to him on the couch, trying to think of something to say to break the awkward silence around them.
Without really realising it, Logan's hand had traveled closer together Patton's. Only inches apart now, he could feel his heart beating out of his chest. The sides of their hands finally touched and Logan almost laced their fingers together before-
"Meow"
Dammit
"Oh uhm- Patton, let me introduce you to Minerva. Minerva this is Patton, Patton this is Minerva."
Patton's smiled turned disappointed for a second, but before Logan could even notice it, it had already turned back into a brightly beaming smile.
"Hi Kitty, you are the most precious thing in the world and I would die for you."
Patton carefully reached his hand towards the cat, waiting for her to accept his patting. When Minerva purred and walked towards the boy, Patton looked like Logan had just handed him the world.
"Logan? I'm sorry buddy but I think that I'm going to catnap your cat. I love her."
Logan chuckled and shook his head.
"I apologise Patton, but I'd like to keep my princess please"
"Darn it"
Patton continued to pet the cat and softly whispered how much he loved her while Logan walked into the kitching, making some tea for the both of them. When he came back into the living room holding the two cups, his heart stopped for a moment. Patton was sitting back on the couch, Minerva on his lap. He looked like he had always belonged here and Logan's heart couldn't handle the domestic atmosphere of this moment. Even the cat loved him. Logan was really out of excuses to ask him out and honestly, he didn't really mind.

Linneaus: Undertow Pt 1
Artwork by: @warrior-kitty
Special thanks to: @gemellath
This story is rated PG-13 for content. You have been warned.
It was a beautiful day for the citizens of Charluftton as the Wild Waves Festival was in full swing. The plaza was full of vendors selling t-shirts and frozen ice, the bar was full of all kinds of live music, including bands like Boil, The Lost Tapes and Art House, and even the beach was full of fun events such as volley ball, sailing, and even a beach 5k obstacle course. Boaters were out fishing and tubing and just all around having a good time. However, for the shapeshifting vixen, she was lying home in bed wearing her work cap, a buttoned jacket and khaki work pants. On her nametag was the name “Kit Rouge”. She was a shy fox who was diagnosed with a disorder that caused her to have trouble controlling her shapeshifting powers, and today, due to the events that occurred at work, was no exception.
“All I did was get grossed out…” she muttered. “Yet of course I turned into a fox bug like I always do when I’m disgusted. And of course, everyone thinks I’m too old for this to happen. I can’t control it…”
Kit had a busy day at work with lots of fishermen and families out buying things from pool toys to bait and couldn’t even stop the lines from the shoppers just itching to get their stuff and hit the water. She swore if she saw another sailor she would transform into her angry form and chuck them off their boat.
Her cellphone rang, and Kit answered.
“Hey Vixie!” Coin started, wearing sunglasses. “Work was rough today wasn’t it?!”
“Oh! Hello Coin! It was rough! Like the time that giraffe all jacked up on cocaine went up to you and-“
“Didn’t you remember our plans for today?!” he interrupted.
“What plans?” the khaki-clad kitsune asked.
“To go tubing with us!” Rio said.
“But I thought we were going to go to the beach!” Kit cried. “I want to lie down, get a sun tan and eat all the cannolis I can think off!”
“The beach is tomorrow and the next day!” Coin replied.
“Just get changed, pack some sandwiches and don’t forget the tube! See you in a half an hour.”
With that they hung up.
Kit thought about it for a second and decided to just go embark with her friends on the boat.
The young vixen put on a yellow one-piece swimsuit and covered it with a Zelda t-shirt and her khaki shorts from her work uniform. She then put on her special waterproof contacts, so she doesn’t turn her friends into her clones again. Finally, she made her friends sandwiches to eat on the boat while they hung out. Kit opened the garage to find Coin’s boat tube and sighed, knowing that none of their days out ever go well.
When she arrived, she saw her jackelope friend in his salmon trunks, purple t-shirt and sunglasses, with Rio harvest mouse perched on top of his antlers. She was in a little sailor’s outfit with a cap.
“First mate Rio! Ready to embark!” she said with glee.
“Hey Kitty!” Coin blurted. “Just put the tube in the back, were going to go fishing for a little while.”
“I thought you had a fear of fish.” Kit replied.
“My dad wants us to get fish for the Braun’s fish recipe!”
“You hate the taste of fish as well!”
“I’m getting paid if I do this.”
“Fair.”
And with that, they entered the boat.
Kit untied the ropes from the hooks, while Rio and Coin brought the buoys into the boat.
“Hey um Kit…” Rio said. “I think you might want to put your sunhat in the cabinet, so you don’t lose it.
“Oh, I’m fine.” Kit said without concern. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
As Coin and First Mate Rio pushed it to thirty miles an hour, Kit began to scream as her body grew more multicolored fur, whiskers grew, and her body became feline. The scared cat held onto her hat as hard as she could while the boat tore through the river.
“I retract my previous statement!” screamed Kit. “This is way too fast! My hat’s gonna fly away if you’re not careful!”
“Too fast?” replied Coin, seemingly unaffected by the rip-roaring speeds they were currently travelling at.
“No way! Calm down, will you? If you didn’t want your hat to get blown off, you should’ve at least stored it in the compartment.”
Begrudgingly, he and Rio slowed to boat down so that Kit could hand the hat over to Rio.
“Honestly,” she said, “We should’ve insisted on it in the first place.”
As they continued to sail, the trio began to develop an appreciation for the architecture of the waterside houses. Rio would wonder aloud who lives there, or there, or there? Enough time had passed for Kit to have calmed down; one tug of her tail later, and she was back in her fox form.
“Right then,” she said, retrieving her hat at last, “What are we up to first?”
“Sandbar, of course!” replied Rio as the boat sailed towards the spot where the ocean embraced the shore.
The little stretch of sand was surprisingly full of people sunbathing, dipping their toes in the water; anything to make the most of the fresh heat.
“Oh, nice! We can all have a game of keepie-uppie!”
Kit casted her line out towards the water and waited. Soon enough she had something on her line, reeling it in as hard as she could to discover she had caught a gar.
“Nice!” she said, pleased with herself.
“Hey, look guys I caught this cool long-billed thing!”
The crowd looked over, but only saw the fish worth jack squat and laughed.
Kit became slimier and turned grey, with white hair growing until she was now her sad form, the fox slug Granny.
“Dang nabbit!” she muttered to herself before casting the line once again…only to this time catch a sea bass…
“Did you bring the football?” Rio asked.
“Sure did!” Coin said, holding the old pigskin.
“I said the football!” Rio growled.
“This is a football!” Coin responded, perplexed.
Soon an argument erupted between the two of them, until they decided to just toss the ball around. The jackelope through a spiral throw towards Rio, who then responded by nailing her personal perch in the chest. Coin got up, picked the football off of the bar and tossed it again. After a while, he was getting nailed in the face, chest, and even in the groin by the sailor mouse’s throws. He called for a time out to see Granny still trying to catch fish.
“Hey bud.” She said. “Could you give my tail a pull?”
Coin turned her back into Kit.
“Thanks”
“So what’s going on here?” Coin asked.
“I”ve been catching nothing but sea bass and gar…”
Coin looked at her in disbelief.
“Kit there aren’t any sea bass in here…you mean sea trout.”
Kit blushed a little.
“It’s alright, you caught like five of them already!”
So, they waited and caught a decent amount of fish to put in the cooler.
After sunbathing for a bit, the Trio decided it was time to go tubing. They packed up their chairs, their belongings and the fish, which were placed in a water tank on the back of the boat.
“Alright guys!” Rio shouted with excitement. “Time for tubing!”
Coin took off his shirt and glasses, leaving him with only his trunks, while Kit dressed down to her swimsuit. Both of them then put on life jackets and hopped onto the tube.
“Um…” Kit said, somewhat nervous. “I’m not sure I want to do this…”
“Oh we’ll be fine. I’ve gone tubing dozens of times.”
“Get ready you guys!” First Mate Rio shouted as she pushed on the gas. She pulled it forward and the two cryptid creatures were yanked screaming. They narrowly missed other boats and shores, but soon the wild mouse got carried away. At a wedding reception between two mice on a dock, the two burst through and destroyed the dock the mice were on, leaving Coin with a face full of tiny wedding cake, and Kit with the groom in her mouth. Next, the two of them flew over another boat’s wake, which was sunk as soon as the tube landed on it. Finally, they neared an exclusive gated community residence, and ended up going through the yards of the tenants. Statues, trees, and rocks pelted them with pure bruises and scratches. At one point, they broke in through a beaver business man’s house and destroyed his kitchen, his teenage daughter’s bedroom, and his priceless wine cellar.
After breaking out of the last wall, a ramp was seen straight ahead for the duo, and with the ramp, Kit flew off of the tube and belly flopped into the water. Coin, luckily, stayed on, but ended up getting dragged through marsh grasses and oyster beds. He was all chopped up, so when Rio stopped, Coin fell into a million pieces. He healed himself, as always when he got this injured, and pulled into the boat.
“Hang on, where’s Kit?” the crazy driver asked.
From a groan they heard, the two saw her bobbing in the water. Coin spun it back around to collect Kit, who wasn’t very amused about the whole situation once she climbed back on board.
She was trying her best not to snap at Rio, as the jackelope got her a towel to wipe off the water.
Rio than then tried to fire up the engine but called Coin over. After a brief and worried discussion, the rabbit sheepishly confronted his fox friend.
“Umm…Kit….”
“What is it?” she snapped with her eyes already glowing.
“The boat…it’s out of gas…”
Suddenly Kit screamed as she transformed into DemKit, with his voice deepening into a roar. He picked up the cowering and flailing jackelope and chucked him off the boat. Then moved on towards Rio and held her up, shaking her around.
“WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO NOW FIRST MATE RIO?!?!” he roared.
“Calm Down!” Rio said. “Coin can just call the boat tow.”
DemKit dropped Rio and blushed a little embarrassed.
“Sorry Coin!” he yelled out.
“Try to grab the tube.”
Coin swam towards the tube, failing to notice the fin behind him. He climbed onto it, but as he was being pulled in by the fox monster, a shark leapt from behind him and bit down on his swim trunks, ripping them and pulling them into the water. His two friends screamed with DemKit frantically pulling on the rope harder, but it was fruitless as he pulled it in to find the shark had cut it in half. Coin, meanwhile, had a censor bar over his special area and watched as whale watchers and fishermen boated by laughing. The shark returned and pulled the censor off of him, causing DemKit and Rio to blush and look away.
“How can this get any worse?” the mouse said to herself.
“There they are!” an angry woman said, with a crowd of people on a police boat. The officer looked to see a sailor mouse next to a steering wheel, some fox monster, and a naked jackelope behind them.
“Oh crap.” DemKit said to himself, embarrassed.
Later on, Kit, now back as her normal self, and Coin were eating the fish they’d caught in the estuary with their families at Coin’s house.
“I’m glad they found out I was just transformed.” She said. “And they found the shark with Coin’s compressions lodged in its throat at the hospital. He said he needed clothes to deliver to someone.”
“Who?” Gunda asked
“We don’t know yet, but because he pulled my censored bar away he now has to register as a sex offender.”
“As for Rio?” Kit’s father asked.
“Well because she was recklessly driving to the point of bodily harm and property damage, and we didn’t do anything wrong, she has to spend the Festival in jail.” Kit replied.
“It’s a good thing you guys called to get the trout out.” Jonas said. “Proud of you son!”
“Thanks dad! How was the nautical golf tournament?”
“Well, we placed second.” He declared to Margaret. “We have to go to the plaza tomorrow. You are performing tomorrow night correct?”
“Yea, I’m meeting Harry and Roxie at work tomorrow, and D’Arcy is setting up her clothing tent at the beach market.”
“Apparently someone sent a threat to her earlier this afternoon.” Kit’s brother told them. “They’re investigating who sent it.”
“Well, it’s probably nothing we should worry about, but we should tell D’Arcy once we get to the beach.”
Meanwhile the salmon trunks sank into a cave where a sea serpent sat waiting and grabbed it.
“Nice…” she said. “A sample of clothing from one of that jersey devil’s friends.” She smiled with glee. “He could be useful to me… in finally bringing her down…” she laughed as her factory workers continued to work…

Fire station 9
meeting the florist
Pairing: Tobirama x Sakura
Rating: G
Summary: Every year there was competition between the police department and fire department to see who could raise the most money for the Children's hospital. Well more like Uchiha vs Senju. Hashirama volunteers Tobirama to help set up the event for the fire department, yet forgot to mention the florist/planner he would be working with
my first attempt at writing Tobirama I just adore TobiSaku so much.
also posted on AO3
Tobiramra looked around the station. He took in the site of the empty hall. One of his crews just left for a cat in a tree call. The crew had a few new recruits, so it will likely take a couple of hours. They will learn quickly to despise Mrs. Whiskers. The cat gets stuck in a tree every 2 weeks and always takes at least 2 hours to get her down.
He had to release an exhale. The men had left the space in complete and utter disarray. They would soon be having one of the florists come to look at the space for their next charity ball. He was debating asking his brother for a different location, but money was tight in the budget. They had decided to do it at fire station 9. It was nestled just outside the heart of the city and had enough yard space to allow for the masses to congregate inside and out.
The mess was getting to him and it was almost 5pm, meaning when the men came back they would be hungry. He scavaged through the fridge and pantry. If he was going to meet this florist he might as well kill time by cooking.
Most of the men weren’t picky in what they would eat, as long as there was protein, lots of protein. He found some ground beef in the fridge, saltine crackers in the pantry. Meatloaf.  A strange food, but it spoke of home for most of the firefighters. He cut open the package of ground beef, dumping it into a bowel. He was feeling slightly lazy and dumped the crackers into the blender, grinding them up faster than he could have done by hand. He didn’t bother to measure the barbecue sauce or ketchup as he added it to the mixture, along with a couple of eggs. He then used the best utensils he had, his hands. He gently massaged the mixture, combing the ingredients together. Soon he was able to shape it into the loaf shape and shove it in the oven.
Deciding to have some vegetables with the meal. Tobirama grabbed some carrots, potatoes (not a vegetable he told himself), asparagus, and mushrooms. He raised a brow at the asparagus. “Who the hell bought this?” He quickly drizzled with olive oil, a dash of salt, and a healthy dash of pepper. Soon the vegetables were going into the oven, joining  the meatloaf.
“Hello” he heard a soft voice cut through the silence. It was irrey having the station be so quiet.
“Here.” came his short, gruff reply. Before he knew it he was met with sparkling green eyes and ...pink hair? Why would someone dye their hair such a ridiculous color? However he soon realized that both this woman’s eyebrows and eyelashes were pink as well. Natural, how strange.
“I’m looking for ...Battalion chief Senju. Do you know where I could find him? I'm Sakura, the florist Hashirama hired.”
Tobimara had to pause. His brother already hired this woman? That would not do.
“ I have not heard that we hired a florist. This is supposed to be just a consultation.” He saw Sakura wince at his tone.
“Hashirama already met with me to go over the details of the event. I gave him an estimation of the cost, but couldn’t do an actual plan until I saw the layout in person.” She passed her hand through her hair.
“Also you have not told me who you are, which is not proper manners.” She quirked a perfectly plucked eyebrow at him and had the audacity to tap her foot.
“My name is Tobirama Senju and I am the battalion chief.” Sakura took in the man standing before her. She had figured the moment she walked in the room who this man was, but he needed to lose the attitude. Was he drop dead gorgeous? Yes. He had scars on the sides of his face and his chin that highlighted his bone structure. His hair was a sliver white in color and his eyes were blood red. His colorings reminded her of someone else she knew. However, the sheer arrogance coming off him, would cause a rock to turn away.
“Thank you. Now can you show me this space I have heard about. I am also under the impression that there may be an outside space as well for the event. I will need to see that as well.” Sakura had pulled out her notebook. She already had lots of ideas after talking with Hashirama, but wanted to make sure it was just right.
Tobirama took a deep breath, this was going to be a long meeting. Sakura followed him quietly. He could hear the snaps of her phone’s camera as they walked to the main hall.
“There isn't much to this space is there?” Tobirama was going to respond, but she was walking away from him, writing something in her book. He took in her appearance just then. She was on the average side for height, but she was a waif of a thing from how her clothes were fitting her.  It looked like a strong wind would blow her over. She was wearing yoga pants, he assumed, and a loose fitting top. Her hair fell just below her shoulders. Her face was heart shaped with a delicate nose, high cheekbones, but it was her eyes that drew all the attention. He had to shake his head.
“Alright can you show me outside now? “ Tobirama wanted to lead her to the front door and never have her come back. However he didn’t think that his brother would be too happy with him. This event was their main charity event for the year. Every year they competed with the police department to see who could earn the most money for the children’s hospital.
For some reason over the last couple of years the police department raised more than them. Tobirama was perplexed by this. Part of him knew they would make more money if they had a firefighters calendar, but he didn’t care for the tactic. Madara and Izuna on the other hand kept using their younger cousins, or was it nephews he could never keep that family straight, to attract the female population. He led her to the side room off the main room and then through the double doors that led outside. He looked around the patio they had, it was one of his favorite features of the station.
Sakura took in the space she just walked into. Now this she could work with. She didn’t know how she agreed to help Hashirama with this party, but if she could spend time out here she wouldn’t mind. The patio was made of red bricks. Instead of them going straight across in typical fashion, they were arranged in a circle and flared out in a spiral pattern. The brick was continued to a half wall, that would be the perfect height for people to sit on comfortably. There were 4 steps that led to the grass area. Small cobblestones created a path to the front and back of the building. The trees in this area were large. They went well above the fire station’s roof and created an almost canopy, encompassing the side in shade.
Sakira could already see it. Simple string lights going from the trees to the station’s walls, mimicking the natural arch of the trees. Bar height tables on the patio for guests to eat at and talk. The inside was going to need some work, but she would just need to highlight the natural beauty of this space.
Tobirama was watching her again. Sour look on his face. He couldn’t understand why she wouldn’t say anything. When he had  first seen her he imagined she wouldn’t be quiet. He was proven wrong. He was never wrong. She snapped her notebook shut.
“ I think I have everything I need. It smells like your meatloaf is ready by the way. I’ll show myself out.” Tobirama followed her. The moment he walked back into the station he realized he needed to get the food out of the oven before it burnt to a crisp.
“Are we not going to discuss details?” As he opened the oven he was happy to see he was just in time. He wouldn’t not voice his thanks to this pink haired woman.
“As i said before. Hashirama and I already talked about plans. I just needed to see the area to see what to go with. I will have an estimate with cost and plans sent to him.” She grabbed the bag he didn’t realize she had brought with her and was getting ready to leave.
“Why would you send the plans to him? I am the one in-charge of the event.” Tobimara found her stunned face a victory. He couldn’t help smirk as he folded his arms in front of his body.
“I was under the impression I would be working with Hashirama.” Sakura felt ice fill her veins. She would be spending the next few weeks working with him. His personality made Fugaku seem inviting.
“I’ll send an email about the timing for the next meeting then.” Tobirama watched her walk away. It wasn’t long after she left that the guys started filtering back in. He heard snippets about their job, but his mind was on the next couple of weeks. He was not looking forward to it. He ate is meatloaf and vegetables a little too aggressively that night. The crew members knew not to ask why.

A Tale of Rain, Pancakes and Cats
Commission story for @piecesofeight123 for a fluffy story of two cute lesbian witches living in a cozy home in the woods on a rainy day! I hope you enjoy it, dear! I think I’m in love with the oc’s I made for this <3
-
The daylight shines through the clouded sky, finding its way into a crack between the curtains hiding a small bedroom in a small cottage in the woods. The place is beyond cozy – one could instantly feel their worries being lifted if they walked in; it was like magic. Probably because, well, it was. You see, the people living there were witches.
The bright light spilled into the shape of a pale golden line over a large black cat that had been sleeping on a bed, and as it opened its bright yellow eyes, it let out a loud mewling noise, rolling on its back.
To the cat’s left, there was a woman sleeping under the blankets. She had auburn hair that was shaven on the sides and puffy on the top , and she groaned softly turning to the cat and placing her hand over its soft fur.
“Your noisy child is awake, my love.”
The woman, Lorelei, had a kind smile as she watched the other woman with dark bushy hair stretching her arms and placing her own hand over Lorelei’s on the cat’s stomach. The woman turned to face Lorelei with a smirk on her lips, eyes still closed.
“She’s only my child when she’s noisy, hmm?”
Lorelei giggles, staring at her beloved with an enamored look in her eyes.
“Your hair looks like an untamed ocean, Sirenia.” she says, eyes tracing the waves of unruly curls over her lover’s pillow “Crashing tides framing your beautiful face.”
Sirenia cracks an eye open, blushing at the way her wife just stares at her endlessly.
“You should write that one down. It’s pretty.” she moves her hand from the cat’s tummy – which earns her an annoyed meow – and runs her fingers over the fuzzy cropped hair on the side of her wife’s head “I like your new hair. I can see your earrings better.” She pokes Lorelei‘s cheek “When will you stop showing off those adorable dimples whenever you smile?”
Lorelei scoffed, sitting up and pulling the cat onto her lap.
“Is this an adorableness contest? Because you’re definitely winning with this adorable nose of yours. And the way you pout when you’re embarrassed like this.”
Sirenia sat up with a pout on her lips. She was tall, fat and beautiful, thighs perfect for Lorelei to lay her head on while they talked, big arms covered in intricate tattoos that would dance on her skin and a thick neck made to dangle her many necklaces from.
Lorelei, however, was short and curvy, wide hips, a pudgy stomach and broad shoulders. Sirenia would often say she looked stunning with hoop skirts and sleeveless blouses that showed her figure, and she loved the dangling noise of her many earrings occasionally clinking together.
A very shy Sirenia was about to respond Lorelei’s comments when the cat meowed loudly again, nibbling at Lorelei’s hand.
“Ow. I think someone wants breakfast.”
Sirenia bowed to the black cat in an exaggerated manner, speaking with an important voice.
“We apologize, your majesty, queen Pepper.”
Lorelei grabbed the cat under its armpits, making it jiggle its body.
“‘I forgive you this once because you are my court jester’” she said in a small, nosy voice “‘but this shall be the last time you mock my royal whiskers’!”
The cat purred contently while the two witches laughed, and kept doing so as she perched on Sirenia’s shoulder on her way to the kitchen.
Sirenia and Lorelei’s kitchen was cozy and small, much like the rest of the house. There was a wooden table with two chairs, many shelves filled with many jars full of colored things and a stove with no wood to feed the fire – they didn’t really need it.
Sirenia pointed an old wooden wand to point at the flour and butter to make them float up and into a bowl, and then at the eggs so that they would crack and pour into it as well, singing to herself. She then started drawing spirals in the air with her wand, and the ingredients began mixing and blending together. Meanwhile, the soft patter of rain outside soon turned heavier, and Sirenia breathed in the smell of rain, watching it out of the kitchen window while she cooked.
The cat, Pepper, stared fascinated at the wand as it moved, very entertained eyes following its every movement.
“I wonder where’s your momma.” Sirenia said to the cat as she made the batter move into a flow that landed on a frying pan over an old stove to then conjure some fire under the pan, making the very first of many pancakes “She’s gonna be late for breakfast.”
A wind blew the semi-sheer curtain hanging from the kitchen’s doorframe, sweeping it out of Lorelei’s way as she walked inside, cropped auburn hair messed over the top of her head. She carried a basket filled with fruits and many different blue and white flowers. She had an old, worn out wooden stick placed behind her ear, and when Sirenia turned to look at her, she overdid the spell to flip her pancake, and the thing went flying up in the air before Lorelei caught it with a grin, bringing it to her mouth and eating a bite.
“Why are you still carrying your wand like this?” Sirenia asked with a small laugh of disbelief “Have you forgotten how you got the tips of your hair burned?”
“Nah, I’ve been wanting a haircut for a while!” Lorelei said with her mouth stuffed with pancake “Speaking of my hair, a bird sat on it while I was summoning the fruits into the basket. Unbelievable. It only left when I gave it not one but three raspberries. It just kept coming back and sitting up there again… then, - then! – it came a drizzle that turned to pouring rain on my bird nest of a hair, so I had to cast a bubble spell over myself and had to rush back home so… hey, stop laughing!”
But Sirenia’s laughter is the bubbliest, most adorable sound, and soon Lorelei is laughing along while she sets the basket on the table and walks around the counter to wrap her arms around her wife’s waist, humming quietly.
“You are impossible.” and she kisses Sirenia’s cheek while another pancake flips itself on the pan “Smells so good.”
“Yeah, I think it’ll come up nicely.”
“I wasn’t talking about the pancakes, love.”
“Oh, stop that now and go set the table for us. And no sneaking food to Pepper. She knows she should behave better, and you, madam, are an enabler.”
Lorelei goes to the small cabinet by the window, grabbing two plates with stars painted on the glass surface. The stars dance and swirl under the witch’s finger as she sets them on the table.
“The birds and the cats, all of them mocking me and taking advantage of my innocence just because I can’t say no to a chubby and cute creature when they ask me for stuff.”
“Is that why you never say no to me?” Sirenia says with a laugh, piling up pancake after pancake on a big plate
“That is exactly why and you know it.” Lorelei shrugs, grabbing a pair of mugs from the cabinet; the mugs have hand-made paintings of Pepper, and the tiny cat in one of them runs around the mug while the other sleeps, tiny ‘Z’ letters floating over its head “You and Pepper both.”
After eating delicious fruit-filled pancake wraps, the two witches lay on a deep blue hammock hanging by the back door of the cottage, Sirenia sitting between Lorelei’s legs that hung out of the hammock. Lorelei wore a beautiful crown of white and blue flowers while she braided another one over Sirenia voluminous curls herself. Pepper slept soundly on a puffy pillow placed by the door especially for her, and Lorelei pressed a kiss to the back of Sirenia’s head.
“Done. I couldn’t make you any prettier because I don’t think that’s possible so, uh… sorry.”
Sirenia snorted, turning her head to look at her wife over her shoulder.
“Don’t be silly.”
“Also not possible, I’m afraid.”
Sirenia pressed a kiss to Lorelei’s lips, sighing happily. She then turned back and shifted to lie on top of Lorelei’s chest, closing her eyes and breathing in the leafy scent of the woods and rain surrounding them. It was a beautiful morning, and the cicadas sang along with the rain as it dripped down the roof of the witche’s home in clear strings of water beads.
“I love you so much, dear.” Sirenia sighed happily
Lorelei slowly leaned back until they were both lying down, rocking very softly on the comfy hammock, humming at the perfect feeling of being together with the love of her life.
“I love you too, sweetheart.”

Reading Log #1
Book One   They All Saw a Cat by Brendan Wenzel 2017 Caldecott Honor Book Publisher: Chronicle Books (2016) Hardcover: 38 Language: English ISBN: 9781452150130
Tumblr media
Narrative Plot:  Brendan Wenzel uses repetition, prediction, and pace wonderfully as the story follows a cat as it "walked through the world, with its whiskers, ears, and paws." Along the way the cat passes a variety of beings: humans, animals, and bugs; each seeing that cat with their own unique perception. Relationship Between Text and Visual Pictures: The visual images and the text complement each other perfectly. Each page spread considers the perspective of the particular being as it perceives the cat. The images Brendan Wenzel used are made from a variety of mediums: colored pencils, oil pastels, acyrlic paint, watercolor, charcoal, Magic Marker, pencil, and a MacBook. The use of multiple mediums allows for many different images of the cat to come alive. Use and Appeal: There is a huge appeal to audiences of all ages. The words are simple but the images are rich leaving much open for critical thinking and conversation. In fact, the book ends in a question which begs the reader or reader and group of listeners to consider: "imagine what it saw?"
Book Two  The Watermelon Seed by Greg Pizzoli 2014 Theodore Seuss Geisel Award Book Publisher: Disney Hyperion Books (2013) Hardcover: 34  Language: English ISBN: 9781423171010
Tumblr media
Narrative Plot:  This book tells a story of a crocodile who loves watermelons. While the crocodile talks about how much he/she loves watermelon, he/she eats a piece and accidentally ends up swallowing a seed. What ensues is a humorous freak-out that has the crocodile spiraling into a fear that he/she will turn into a watermelon! Luckily, the tragedy is averted when he burps up the seed and swears off watermelon...after just one more bite, he promises. Relationship Between Text and Visual Pictures: The text and the images complement each other throughout the story. Pizzoli kept his palette simple by using only four colors: watermelon pink, green, black, and white. The lines used are simple, thin and clean. In addition, since the crocodile is meant to make the young reader laugh, he is illustrated as short, round, and without scales and scary pointy teeth.   Use and Appeal: There is definitely a high appeal for this book. I think it would be best suited to a children's story time or end of the day book to quiet kids. The story is engaging because of its humor and use of text and picture to showcase the humor.
Book Three  Alma: and How She Got Her Name by Juana Martinez-Neal 2019 Caldecott Honor Book Book Publisher: Candlewick Press (2019) Hardcover: 34 Language: English ISBN: 978-0-7636-9355-8 (English hardcover)
Tumblr media
Narrative Plot:  This book tells the story of a young girl named Alma Sofia Esperanza José Pua Candela and how she got her name. When she complains to her father that her name is “too long to fit,” he sits her down to tell her where she got each of her names. As her father describes all the important people whose name she carries, Alma illustrates how they suit her. When he gets to her very first name, Alma, he tells her that she is the very first Alma and that she will write her own story. In the end, Alma embraces her name and is empowered to tell her story. Relationship Between Text and Visual Pictures: The illustrations were created using graphite, colored pencils and print transfers on handmade textured paper. Martinez-Neal also uses another simple palette by illustrating this story using only three colors (red, blue, and black) on a white background. The images and text follow a repetitive pattern: image and text of Alma and father together on one half of spread and image and text of person who Alma is named after. The subsequent spread has the image and text spread across the two pages and revolves around Alma fitting the name to herself.  Use and Appeal: This story is very appealing to younger audiences, ages 3-6. I can see it being used in a diverse classroom with students of all backgrounds coming together with different people for perhaps the first time. It opens the door to allow students to take pride and ownership of their name and the story they choose to tell by using the culture and tradition of the latinX naming process.
Book Four  Am I Beautiful? Written by: Infinitefriendship Artist: flapperdoodle Publisher: Storybird (January 29, 2019) ebook: 23 pages Language: English URL: https://www.storybird.com/picture-book/2rejkea7m7-
Tumblr media
Narrative Plot:  This ebook tells the story of a nameless girl who is doing some internal reflection on herself and how the world sees her. It goes through how she sees and defines herself then poses questions to the outside world of whether she qualifies as beautiful then concludes with her stating she is. Relationship Between Text and Visual Pictures:  The illustrations complement the text. This is because the illustrations are all of the same character in various situations and clothing. The story is about only her as she reflects on who she is/what the world sees in her so it is appropriate that she is the main and really only focal point of most of the illustrations. Furthermore, the facial expression of the main character remains entirely the same except when she questions if she is beautiful. In that moment, she looks apprehensive. At all other times, her eyes are closed and she seems to be okay with herself, almost at peace. This decision in illustration truly puts an emphasis on that very real anxiety tweens (and many others) feel when considering themselves in the view of the world.  Use and Appeal: This story would be appealing to an audience of tweens as it covers the topic of self-love and self-esteem. I think what may be appealing even more, though, is that this was created by a regular person. I think this gives a great point of conversation for tween students. It sets an example of using their voice to talk about their feelings. It also allows for an activity where they think about what they like about themselves.
Book Five My Family is Not Different Written by: missK Artist: SebastiaanVanDoninck Publisher: Storybird (January 29, 2019) ebook: 12 pages Language: English URL: https://www.storybird.com/picture-book/my-family-is-not-different-
Tumblr media
Narrative Plot:  This ebook describes a young child’s family with emphasis on the fact that their family isn’t different, “it’s mostly like yours. It’s filled up with love that pours through the house and outside the doors.”  Relationship Between Text and Visual Pictures:  The illustrations complement the text really well. The family is obviously quirky and so the images are as well. Bold colors and patterns are on the beings that are on the pages. They especially stick out on the white paper contrasting the speaker’s emphasis on their family’s non-differences. This works really well to show that the family is different, everyone’s is. Use and Appeal: This story would be appealing to an audience of children aged 5-8. This age of children usually starts to become aware of how different they are and therefore would really connect with  the speaker’s message. It is lighthearted and silly. In the end, it celebrates the fact that all families are the same because they are bound by love. A great book to have kids discuss their families/lives/stories/home life.
