yk what’s weird is sometimes I take a step back and realize Logan and most of the ppl in the life and death brigade are pretty much adults. Like, you might be thinking ‘Is that not completely obvious?’ and it is but considering all the stuff they pull and how they act, it just completely slips my mind that these aren’t teenagers but actual adults.

hiii stella i just wanted to know if you liked the life and death brigade because i rewatched some of their episodes and my opinion on them has completely changed
I'm going to try answering this again! Because Tumblr gave me the Blank Screen of Death halfway through my first attempt...
Ok, so... the Life and Death Brigade. Uh, well... some of their scenes are amusing, I suppose. I have to admit that that first Glamping Trip event was super pretty and I'd be a lying liar if I said that I didn't want to go camping in quasi-Edwardian attire with white canvas tents, candelabras, and a Victrola (you all know me...). Robert is tolerable. Finn is... occasionally amusing. But, on the whole? Well, on the whole, I find them irresponsible, entitled, and insufferable, and I find their general blithe disdain for others to be irritating at best and enraging at worst? In short... I'm not fond of them and mostly can't stand them. 😬. I especially can't handle Colin in general, but ESPECIALLY the way he brought that poor girl home from his European vacation like a freaking souvenir, and then abandoned her, a girl who spoke no English and knew no one but him, in a foreign country because he got "bored" of her. My word. He treated her like freaking Fantine from Les Miserables. So... you never did tell me how YOU feel about them! 😅

I found a new thing in Gilmore Girls that would be so much better if Palladino and company had just had the guts to be more explicit about class on the show. And it’s Marty’s storyline.
So I’m one of those few people out there who really liked season 5! Marty, and even though I hate that he was written to crush on Rory I also think his confession scene and departure was well written (it was just ruined by season 7 hindsight). The thing is, I’m fully convinced that you could’ve had a big conflict between Rory and Marty that would cause a rift so big he wouldn’t come back for a full season without that conflict being Marty’s feelings for Rory. And you see what it could be in the same episode as Marty confesses.
It’s the Life and Death Brigade.
So hear me out. In LDBs introductory episode we are not just introduced to the main trio (Logan, Finn and Colin) as womanizers and pranksters, but as people who pick on Marty because he has worked in their functions. Logan even explicitly states that he thinks he’s better than Marty, and it’s implied (if I’m remembering right) that he thinks so because he’s wealthier and has been in a position where he pays Marty. Then as we get to the confession episode, Marty gets dragged along to a dinner with the LDB gang where they frivolously spend money and then mock Marty for struggling to pay for things he didn’t even want to purchase. The LDB gang - Logan included - is shown multiple times to look down on Marty for his lack of wealth. Marty can’t socialize with these people because of that, but also because he literally cannot afford to spend time with them when all of their gatherings and events are money pits. But Rory’s dating one of them. To Marty, she’s actually dating the worst one.
How do you think that would make Marty feel as her friend?
He really doesn’t have to be into Rory or in love with her, his close friend dating one of his bullies is more than reason enough to cause a rift between Marty and Rory. And the thing is, this conflict could’ve been an impactful addition to Rory’s thematic storyline if the writers had just gone for it. Rory is financially and socially stuck between worlds. She will never fit into Logan’s world because of her upbringing, but she will always have more access to that world and resources than someone like Marty. And Rory “chosing” Logan’s world in season 5 before she hits rock bottom, and then returning to her roots (her mom, studying, Lane and Paris) and standing up for herself against Emily can be seen as a step in her journey of coming to terms with never being able to truly choose one world. And then Marty could’ve come back, not as a bitter former crush, but as a hurt friend who sees the change Rory is going through, and might help her along as she continues on this journey.
We could’ve had a great storyline about the highs and lows of a friendship that’s affected by class, and instead we got a half baked nice guy plot.

thinking about the life and death brigade.
thinking about being logan’s childhood friend and ending up at yale together and joining the life and death brigade together.
thinking about being an even bigger adrenaline junkie than logan and one day you do something so totally crazy with the brigade
thinking about logan not being there and later finding out and then having a total fit about it because he doesn’t know how to handle his emotions
thinking about later when he finally is able to say that it scared him that he finally admits that he cares a lot more than he shows.
thinking about leaving the brigade with him and instead enjoying the finer things in life- like his wonderful friends and his father’s wonderful boat
just thinking :)

my problem with l*gan huntzb*rger isn't that he's a bad boyfriend to rory. it's that he is an insufferable rich kid and the very second she meets him rory also becomes an insufferable rich kid. and then never grows out of it.

I was thinking about the Life and Death Brigade
If it still exists by the time Logan and Rory's child is in college, would they be okay with their kid joining the LDB? Even after what happened to Logan in Costa Rica?
It'd kind of remind me of those movies from the '90s-'00s where the kid wants to participate in something but their parents don't want them to because they had a bad experience, and don't want their kids to experience the same.

Just thinking as to if I'd meet any of the members of the Life and Death Brigade, how I would react at first glance, and all I can think of is this, especially if they were wearing those God awful gorilla masks:

I'm so so sorry, but paying the price of a large house per seat to go look at the wreckage of the Titanic in an unregulated vessel steered by a videogame controller is some real Life and Death Brigade type of shenanigans. 😬

I think that Logan was so wrong in season 7 episode 8
Now maybe Rory does go to yale and she us very privileged, she's not the same as Logan or Collin or Finn. She didn't grow up rich being able to do whatever she wants spending ridiculous amounts of money whenever she wants. She would have gone without, she would have struggled, her and Lorelai were living in a rundown cottage for the first part of her life. And living in a situatuon like that does separate a person from people like Logan who grew up with a trust fund and privilege.
You even see it with Yale Rory she scrimps and she saves, she still struggles with money despite her grandparents paying her tuition, and Logan never did, he wouldn't step away from his family and live independently, so he had no right to be so judgemental of Rory when he has no clue what it's really like to grow up poor.
Rory being judgemental of the privileged lives of Rich people is justified because she does know what it's like to struggle, which changes her perspective. She's grateful for her position Logan amd his friends aren't

She shook her head. "I'm fine. . . I just. . . they're actually letting us leave with a baby."
Logan laughed. "Did you think there was going to be a test?"
"I'd feel better if there was." She grimaced. "You're not scared at all?"
"We can do anything Ace. One little baby and two of us, remember? I'm not worried at all."
She glanced out the window noticing cars flying past them. She suddenly realized that the car was going incredibly slow. "Not worried huh?"
He shook his head. "Not in the slightest."
"Then why are you driving so slow?"
He shrugged, never taking his hands off the steering wheel. "It's not my car, it's yours."
"You've driven my car a million times."
"Never with her in it." he said, smiling slightly.
.......
Aren't new parents Rory and Logan adorable?! Read more here:

Omg the Colin thing in season 6 is the most irresponsible thing his and Logan's friend group did, and they actually jumped off of a cliff with no proper support or safety precautions! Maybe it's because I'm from another country so I know how disorienting a new place can be even with knowing the language in it but the fact that a) NONE of the guys in the group were like "uh guys maybe we need to leave the girl be in her own country", b) none of them thought of what they would possibly do with her once she was in a foreign country to her that's the size of half a continent, and c) they were all annoyed and inconsiderate of her when it was clear that she didn't speak the language and didn't even know how to navigate in such a big place, just tells me everything I need to know for how they really behave. Like people can go on and on about how fun the LDB is but the show gives us numerous examples (even within the revival) that they truly would put another person's safety or even their own in jeopardy if it meant "having a good time" in the rich people's sense. Even the club scene in AYITL is so obnoxious because it's just a bunch of grown men annoying other attendees in the dance place and then being all "I'm buying the place so that you people can't get a piece of it!", like genuinely what an asshole
No but seriously when you are or have been a foreigner what Colin did goes from being a dark joke to downright horrifying. Not only did he drag her over to a country where she doesn't know the language, he flew her across the globe. It's not like he took her over to London, where she could always grab a one-hour-ish flight or even a train (because yes you can do that in Europe), he took her across the Atlantic Ocean to a country with some serious border control (no Schengen in the US) and then expected her to what? Hang out? Apparently this girl is a milkmaid who only speaks Dutch (which btw stereotype much) so I'm guessing she doesn't have the resources to book a flight back home or the ability to get a translator who can help her do it. Call me dramatic, but in a much much darker show this could have been a trafficking storyline.
The whole situation just really points out how Colin and the LDB not only don't care about anyone but themselves but genuinely view other people as sources of entertainment that they can push around however they want until they get bored and just ignore them. Like, did Colin think to maybe arrange for her to get home safely? Did the thought of telling him to, or to not let him take her to the US in the first place, even occur to Logan and Finn?
And these are the same people who hold a public party celebrating Rory's felony. The same people who apparently steal boats themselves all the time, and so much more. The same people who claim that a meticulously organized bungee-jumping event in ball gowns is somehow closer to real life than anything in Rory's life. The problem isn't them being rich people who have fun. It's that their idea of fun is doing literal harm to other people through theft and manipulation and almost kidnapping, all the while ignoring the incredibly expensive and important degree they got into Yale to actually work on and waiting for their parents to bail them out of jails and pay their university to keep them on for yet another year and spit in the face of higher education again.
