the first time you fall asleep in bed with kakashi, it may surprise you that you wake up with his face buried in your chest.

after all, didn't you fall asleep cuddled against his chest? or maybe tucked together like spoons? but definitely not this...not that you dislike it! you just weren't expecting to find the accomplished ninja burrowed between your tits.

and yes, a big part of it is the obvious. whether you've got big tits, small tits, shirt on, shirt off—really doesn't make a difference to him. kakashi loves you and your body, and he's happy to be close to it any way you'll allow. but what he's really searching for is your heartbeat. that strong and steady thump thump thump that sometimes quickens when you're around him, or when he says something designed to make you blush, or when he touches you just right.

he wants to hear it settle into a secure rhythm as you drift off and give in to sleep. he wants to hear it continue throughout the whole night. it's his white noise and his lullaby all in one. and how is he supposed to listen unless he has his ear to your chest?

so please, do your best not to wake him. let kakashi enjoy the sound of your heart for as long as he needs to hear it. let it filter into his subconscious. his dreams.

let it be the guide for his own heartbeat to match.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I feel like this episode was the beginning of untangling this whole web of 'lies' that Tim and Lucy have been telling each other - and telling themselves - when it comes to undercover… One thread at a time. This episode zeroed in on Tim's thread and how he truly thought he was fine with Lucy doing undercover work. How he needed a lie detector to realise just how deep his denial was. And while yes, it seems that the onus was all on him here, the narrative did imply that Lucy might have a similar issue. The way she immediately denied the possibility that she might be projecting mirrored Tim's similar objections. Right now she's all focused on him… but the seed is there. This is just the beginning of the unravelling so they can get to that place of honesty - with one another and with themselves. I get the feeling that we will soon get to pull Lucy's thread and explore her side of the story and her doubts. (Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part).

#I really think this is going to be one of their major storyline this season #it's something that has been teased since Lucy announced she was taking the detective exam #or even long before that so it's time to move this plot forward and commit to it #I'm just glad they didn't brush away everything under the rug #and I'm pretty sure we're about to explore Lucy's doubts very soon #but Tim's are the most obvious so it makes sense to me to start with his #the rookie #chenford #lucy chen #tim bradford #little notes on a piece of paper #6.02

OH AND THIS WEIRD PACING IS BECAUSE OF THE SHORTENED SEASON TOO like you can definitely tell that alexi has tried to compress 18-22 episodes worth of storylines into 10 because how the fuck did we go from drama with tim not being on board with lucy’s uc to her not acing the test like she thought she would because of a biased cop to tim having some dark past brought up to a BREAK UP in like 5 episodes… and there’s like… never any transition between these storylines whatsoever??? what kind of fans do they think we are??
