Weekly Theme : Love Language

Premise : Polyhermits, Gem and Pearl introduce them to Love Languages. Etho Edition!

Etho was very clear about the fact that he understood nothing about the whole love language thing.

He does mean the compliments that he gives the hermits, he just takes them back to be a menace. He is very repulsed with physical touch in a romantic/sexual way, he’ll high five and fist bump a Hermit but that’s it. He likes spending time with his queer-platonic-partners, but at the end of the day he will always be an introvert. He gives the Hermits’ gifts for the holidays and their birthdays what not-, but he wouldn’t say he’s a gift-giver per se. Acts of service? Who is he, Bdubs?

That last one was a joke. Maybe. Who knows with Etho. Either way. He wouldn’t say he fell under any of them.

“You know Etho, I feel your love language is quality time.” Gem mentioned, eating a golden carrot. He quirked an eyebrow while sat on the bed he just respawned in.

“What makes you say that?”

“It’s just, you seem to enjoy the other Hermits’ company regardless if it’s you helping out with redstone, playing TCG against the hermits, doing redstone shenanigans with Zed, sparring with me, plenty of other things I’m forgetting.” She told him straight. Tossing him a golden carrot as well.

“But I—“

“Go home alone without company?” She teased. “Yeah, sure. You don’t drag other Hermits to your base to cuddle or be a bit intense in bed, but you still like spending your waking hours with them when that doesn’t overlap with your ‘you’ time.”

She tossed him a wooden sword. “Now, how about not losing to me for the 24th time in a row?”

He flung himself off the bed, pulling his mask up so that it didn’t fall. “Oh. You’re so on.”

It's an easy way to look at it, Gem explains. Etho is an introvert. He likes his alone time, he gets worn out if he's around other people too much. So, it clearly means something that he chooses to spend that energy on hanging out with them! They're important enough to him that he'll leave his comfort zone - or that they are his comfort zone. How cute!

Etho politely asks for her to stop beating him mentally as well as physically. There's only so much embarrassment he can take in one day, otherwise he's bringing the axe out.

Also finds jungwons crush on the trainee amusing, teases jungwon about it all the time because thats the only dirt he has on jungwon. no one in enhypen fills sunghoon in on anything because he unintentionally spills alot of things 😓 poor man is a lil clueless

sunoo: 03 liner, oldest in enhypens maknae line. enhypens social butterfly probably talks to most of the 4th gen idols knows all the gossip around. really sassy and finds jungwon crushing on someone he doesnt know really embarrassing but sunoo tries to help him.

ni-ki: 05 liner, a menace, maknae of enhypen and will go out of his way just to make his members lives caotic. pranks everyone 24/7 probably grows 5cms each week, could mistake him as a skyscraper tbh 🤕 teases jungwon on his crush and keeps reminding him if he didnt misplace his jacket he wouldnt have saw her in the first place. aw we love a matchmaker cupid!ni-ki

[ Gifting, quality time, and acts of service! Since he's normally one to budget hardcore because of his situation, it shows he really cares when he gets someone a gift! Same goes for quality time and acts of service! He doesn't get much time between work and watching over his brothers, so it really shows he cares when he takes time out of his day to spend it with someone or to do things for them, at least that's how he feels about it. ]

🌙 - What’s their sleep schedule like?

[ A mess. An absolute mess. He often goes to bed late after making his brothers dinner, tying up any loss ends from work at the end of the day, preparing for whatever is coming the next day, etc. And then he wakes up early in order to make his brothers lunches for school and then head off to go work. Boy needs more sleep. ]

🎁 - How do they feel about their birthday/birthdays in general?

[ With his birthday, he normally doesn't make a big deal out of it and normally doesn't even spend money to get himself anything/do anything. But with his friends and brothers, he makes quite a big deal out of it, and dammit THEY WILL GET A BIRTHDAY IF HE HAS ANY SAY IN IT. ]

[ Nope! Never had the money to dye his hair. As for cutting it, once he was old enough to learn, he did. Better than paying to have it cut, after all. ]

[ NOT IN THIS HOUSE! Not only is he still underage in Japan, but he feels like it's way too irresponsible when he has brothers to take care of. ]

[ He'll try to have more alone time with the person, maybe even.../gasp/ hold HANDS! Scandalous. But honestly it would be a mess because he'd be running around like a mad man in between work, his brothers, and trying to spend more time with the person. He's a mess, but that's part of his charm...I guess? ]

[ Have you seen his bedroom? Just the fact that he's a fucking weeb is embarrassing to him and he'd rather not admit it to anyone but his brothers. ]

[ Besides video gaming and reading manga? Probably figure collecting or gachapon collecting. He's a fuckin dork. ]

[ He HAS to be holding something. Pillows, blankets, doesn't matter. ]

[ He does! It's like a mini vacation! Ichiro really likes roller coasters, it makes him feel like a giddy kid again, making his heart pound! ]

[ Mostly Japanese only. He knows a few vague words in English, but honestly never paid much attention in his English classes. ]

[ Really well, actually! He had to learn in order to feed his brother something that wasn't expensive takeout, and it was a bit of a learning curve, but he's getting better and better every day. ]

[ Same thing as the cooking! He wanted to learn so his brother could have treats here and there, and cakes for their birthdays. ]

[ If he were to find a partner, he'd probably find their lips and eyes to be the most attractive parts of them. ]

[ Uncomfortable, definitely. If he has to to get a job done, he will, but he won't be happy about it. ]

Spamton is such a nuanced character that I feel one tumblr post will never be able to do him justice.

Yes, I do think he's a bit more battered bc he's living in dumpsters. No, I don’t think he has grey hair. Stuff like this is So complicated. At most I just want ppl to stop treating 40 as Old.

oh for sure! if anything it should serve as food for thought, why do you characterize him this way or that? bending canon or adding things that arent canon is part of the fun in building up your interpretation & understanding of characters you love!

with the lifestyle hes been forced to live its unlikely hes able to be as presentable as he wants to be. he doesnt have access to the same luxuries most ppl do but he does his best. i personally like the grey hair (ahem ahem i think its attractive) bc iirc hair can start greying from stress which. hes dealt with a lot of stress in his life, wouldnt be surprising if it started to show, but also hair can just turn grey faster for some ppl :p

id like to share a hc i just came up with also: i think when deciding outfits for everyone, caine would likely keep their main colors/themes present if only as accents. eg pomni having a red & blue striped tie even if the rest of her outfit is black, or zooble getting a shirt with differing sleeve lengths,, i think thats fun :)

teehee well if u insist!! i uh. ended up goin on a bit of a ramble

first,, bonus flicker lore: As my self insert they take after me a lot & part of that is definitely social anxiety, so upon popping into the circus the scariest part was suddenly being around a bunch of strangers lol

i think ragatha generally takes the role of guide for the newbies so she probably tried to get flicker to be more social & not hide in her box so much bc shutting yourself away is Not Good especially in the circus! ragatha finds out flicker likes art & pairs em up with gangle & from there they become friends :3

flicker then starts hanging around gangle & since gangle seems to be close with kinger it was inevitable flicker would interact with him. perhaps he sits in while gangle & flicker draw & they chat to fill the silence! i like to think flicker draws a bug pokemon or smth & kinger gets interested & starts asking abt other bug mons :)

flicker, obviously, loves having an excuse to talk abt pokemon so depending on how foggy their memory is they tell kinger everything they know! and i think itd be rlly cute if kinger started trying to draw bug mons too 🥺

idk who would develop a crush first?? but i think kinger would rlly like that flicker humors him & answers all his questions without ever being annoyed!! she apologizes for startling him even if she didnt actually Do anything, she also plays into the idea of him being royalty in a sincere way & it touches him bc hes probably gotten sarcastic remarks abt it from jax before. whether he actually believes himself to be a king or is playing into the role is up for debate i think :p

flicker likes that kinger engages in her interests & seeks her out to talk abt smth shes passionate abt! she also loves that hes gotten into art & constantly encourages him bc he praises her art too!! kinger definitely endears himself to her Fast & she simply cannot help but fall for him, hes so silly & polite!!!

im obsessed with the idea that he confesses via a drawing,,,, he spends so long trying to get better at art bc he wants it to be special & Good!! he thinks abt what to say over & over but holds off a little longer bc hes still nervous,,, he talks to gangle abt it, perhaps ragatha too, & once he finally works up the nerve he takes her into the pillow fort & sorta stumbles thru his confession But flicker loves it!! shes practically in tears & when he presents the drawing (its of the 2 of them holding hands <3) she just Cries
