Most people know Stede and Ed are both based on real people.

Less people know that Stede Bonnet was hung to death in December 1718 and Edward Teach was killed in battle with sailors November 1718.

And S1 is set in 1717.

Another headcannon: Ed has Borderline Personality Disorder. I have BPD and Ed acts exactly like me.

SPOILER WARNING:

We’re both guilty over things we’ve done in the past, and we’re both afraid of our romantic partners leaving us when we reveal our troubled past. We’re both afraid that we’re unlovable. We both did self-destructive impulsive behaviors that put ourselves and our loved ones at risk. And that pushes even more people away.

Ie: throwing Lucius overboard for trying to console him. And terrorizing the crew. I have pushed away loved ones for suggesting that I go to therapy for my trauma. I was in denial about my childhood trauma affecting my adult life. But it was. I was turning into the bullies from my school. Hornigold fucked up Ed. And Ed he just turned into another Hornigold.

Ed’s confession about killing his dad, and saying that he’s not a good person and doesn’t have any friends; that reminded me when I confessed to my partner that I have BPD caused by being bullied. BPD has a HUGE stigma with people assuming that you’re a monster manipulator like Trisha Paytas (who also has BPD). People with BPD do mean well. It’s just that we’re used to thinking that we’re broken. We’re used to being unstable, and any attempt at stability feels impossible.

I’d like to imagine, somewhere down the line the crew would visit the inn. One by one, they might also leave piracy behind and open up their own shop or stall.

A new bar, soup shop, cafe, etc.

A new republic of pirates would be made, with Stede and Ed at the helm, over seeing the town run by their former crew. They’d watch over businesses or kids when the queen has to check on her fleet, some of the the crew deciding to head out to help, or just catch another glimpse of the life they once lived.

No matter what, every time they passed Izzys grave to start another adventure, they’d smile.

You know with like zero context stede bonnet looks like the single most badass motherfucker in the sea

Like imagine you are a pirate, and you just casually hear the rumours about this rich dude who just gave up his comfortable life wife and kids to be a pirate and in less than a year he:

Killed two British officers

Had the person who killed Spanish Jackie's favorite husband in his ship

Broke Spanish Jackie nose jar

Told both black beard and his right hand man to suck eggs in hell

Somehow got Blackbeard to follow him around for months

Made Blackbeard ask for the act of grace

(broke Blackbeard's heart)

Went back to his wife and children

Faked his death and went back to sea

With no context of stede being a complete nervous wreck with anxiety and low self-esteem it's looks like this badass killed at least two people with cruelty, didn't gave two fucks about Jackie seduced Blackbeard to ruin and and faked his death so he got to fuck off away from him like a boss
