In which Tommy has a nightmare, and enderwalk!Ranboo is of the opinion that grass blocks make everything better.
(word count: 1,413)
----------
Tommy jolts out of a nightmare that he doesn’t want to remember, and a few seconds later, finds himself hyperventilating outside on the grass.
It’s not on, is what it is. He hardly asked for this, for these awful dreams and this inability to sleep for more than a few hours at a time at best, for this creeping certainty that Dream is breaking out, is going to come for him, and that it’s only a matter of time before something awful happens. He didn’t ask for any of this, but he has it, and he’s not moving out of his house, because that would feel like a concession, but on nights like these he wakes up and the dirt walls press in around him and he can’t breathe, and it is completely and utterly the worst.
So. Outside. Grass. Hyperventilating.
Calming himself down is old hat, by now. He figured out how to do it a long time ago, around the time when he realized that there wasn’t going to be anyone holding his hand anymore, that he was well and truly on his own, without a friend in the world. Other than—but no, he doesn’t go there. He knows better, now, even though his brain still tries to play tricks on him sometimes, tries to convince him that Dream is the only one who actually has his best interests at heart.
The point is, he knows how to do this. He’s used to it. And frankly, he’s glad that he is, glad that he can do this on his own, because he doesn’t want anyone else around him when he’s like this. Doesn’t want anyone else to see, doesn’t want anyone else to know that this happens, doesn’t want anyone else to be able to point at him and go, look, the great TommyInnit brought low.
So when he regulates his breaths and swipes the tears from his face and unclenches his fingers knuckle by knuckle, he looks up and most definitely does not expect anyone to be crouched in front of him. When he sees that there is, he scrabbles backward and lets out an incredibly manly scream, and he doesn’t think he can be blamed for it, because what the fuck?
“Holy shit,” he wheezes, “holy shit, you can’t just—” And has to stop, because it’s not just any weird crouching person. It’s his fucking—what’s the word for when a very irritating and terrible person marries your best friend? What’s the title for that? Annoyance-in-law?
In any case, it’s Ranboo.
“What,” he says, “the shit are you doing?”
Ranboo makes a sound that is not words at all. In fact, it sounds very similar to an enderman vwoop, which, alright, the guy’s half enderman, that checks out. Except, his eyes are also purple, and he looks rather taller than he normally does, even crouching down, so something is weird here. Something is very, very weird.
“Fuck off,” he says. “Go and, go and raise your shitty child or something. Sing ‘im a lullaby. Go on.”
He makes shooing noises with his hands, like one might do to a dog, or a persistent crow. Ranboo tilts his head very slowly, like a complete fucking weirdo, and then rises in one fluid motion, and goes walking off somewhere. Tommy stares after him, because he hadn’t really expected that to work. But alright, he’ll take it.
“That’s right,” he mutters. “Just fucking, fucking leave, go on.” He stares down at the grass, running a shaking hand through his hair. He is, maybe, not quite as recovered as he’d like. He’s usually not, after the initial panic, usually can’t make himself relax until the sun has crested the horizon and the sky has begun to lighten. He’s ruined for sleep tonight, that’s for sure.
But it’s alright. It’s alright, he’s used to it. He can do it. He can do this. He’s a big fucking man, and he can survive on a few hours of sleep a night, and he can avoid looking at himself in the mirror and remembering another face, eyebags just as dark, hair just as wild, eyes only slightly more desperate. He doesn’t have to remember things. Not if he doesn’t want to. He’s great at not remembering things, him.
Footsteps. He jerks, looks up again, and Ranboo is standing over him, and why is he so fucking tall?
Ranboo makes another vwooping sound. And then a little trill, almost like a bird, if a bird gargled gravel and then turned into an eldritch monstrosity. He crouches again, and then holds out his hands, and there is something in them, something that he is offering him, and—
Tommy squints. It’s a grass block.
“What am I supposed to do with that?” he asks.
Ranboo vwoops.
“Could you just stop being so fucking weird?” he demands. “For five minutes? I don’t think that’s too much to ask, really. God, you’re just. The worst.”
Ranboo shifts a bit closer, still holding out the grass block. Like he wants him to take it.
“I’m not taking your stupid block,” Tommy says, and accepts it.
Ranboo vwoops.
“Why would you even—” he says, burrowing his fingers into the dirt. A bit of it crumbles to the ground. He doesn’t understand how endermen manage to do this, keep these blocks in perfect shape, grass and all. “Why would you even give me this? What are you trying to pull on me, eh? It won’t work. You can’t pull the wool over my eyes, pal. You’re up to something. Why are your eyes all purple?”
Ranboo vwoops.
And then—Tommy remembers something. Something he wasn’t particularly trying to remember, and usually, that’s not such a great thing, but it’s not so bad this time. Because this memory is from just a couple of weeks ago, in Snowchester, one of those times that he was trying to hang out with Tubbo, but Ranboo was just there and wouldn’t leave, and Tubbo wouldn’t make him leave, so Tommy spent the entire time being vaguely pissed off. And he was trying not to pay attention to Ranboo, really, he was, except he remembers him saying something about how he gets anxious, and how holding blocks of things and putting them down places helps him. At the time, he made a point of not acknowledging him, because Tommy’s not an idiot. He knew what he was trying to do, and he didn’t appreciate it.
But—
He stares at the block in his hands. And then back at Ranboo.
He wants to be angry, at the idea, at the presumption, because who the fuck does Ranboo think he is, trying to patronize him like this? But Ranboo keeps up his soft warbles, and he finds his eyes filling with tears instead.
“Are you,” he says, and his voice is not choked, it’s not, “are you trying to help me?”
Ranboo vwoops. Chirps. And then reaches out, slowly enough that Tommy doesn’t feel the urge to flinch, and runs gentle clawed fingers through his hair.
“Oh,” Tommy says. And doesn’t lean into the touch. He doesn’t. But if, hypothetically, he does, that’s between him and Prime on high. Or at least, it would be, if all his muscles didn’t go lax a few seconds later, and if he didn’t accidentally on purpose tip forward against Ranboo’s chest.
The dirt slips through his fingers. But that’s alright, because one of Ranboo’s arms wraps around him, and the other keeps carding through his hair, like Wilbur used to do when they were younger and things were better and they were two halves of a whole rather than puzzle pieces that got bent out of shape. The way his head is, he can feel vibrations running though Ranboo’s chest, like the purr of a cat, and it’s going to lull him to sleep if he’s not careful.
He can’t let that happen. He has more dignity than that.
Except he’s very tired. And Ranboo is clearly—sleepwalking, or something. Not all there in the head at the moment. So maybe he won’t remember this in the morning, if Tommy makes sure to wake up first. And that would be alright.
“You’re still terrible,” he mumbles, but the words are slurred, and Ranboo’s arms are very warm and comforting, and he’s drifting. He can feel it.
So he lets himself. Ranboo’s warbles follow him into sleep, and he dreams of stars.

Platonic ranboo x enderman/human hybrid reader, two bros bonding over being half enderman
platonic! ranboo x enderman hybrid!reader
trigger warnings: none
premise: one day while wandering the forest you stumble into Philza, who upon seeing you immediately decides you need to meet Ranboo, and takes you back to the AAC to meet him
{also my basic thinking for an enderman hybrid would be: also bad at eye contact like Ranboo, (wears goggles to combat this?), can teleport but only small distances usally does acidently when startled, purple enderman like eyes, has the same silk touch thing as ranboo but like, half, so it only applies to certain things, also water doesn’t bother them as much, its like a minor inconvenience}
{also I know Edward is dead now, just let me have this}
“blep” talking
“Blep” Ender speak
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You hummed quietly to yourself, watching the fat snowflakes drift through the sky as you moved through the forest.
Shivering you tugged at your overcoat, peering around to try and find more berry bushes, Enderpearl, your arctic fox, following along, hoping you would find more food.
A few minutes later you found another bush, quickly stooping to fill as much inventory as you could with the berries, ears seeming to prick up at the sound of someone walking through the snow.
Standing up fully you adjusted your tinted goggles, looking around to try and find the source of the noise, still shivering at the cold.
“Are you alright mate?”
You jumped, purple particles surrounded you as you teleported a few yards away in surprise.
“Woah! How did you do that?”
You turned to see a blond avian hybrid, dressed mostly in green, “Oh- uh- h- hello.”
“How’d you do that?” He repeated, still looking a bit in shock.
“Why?” You asked, quickly defensive, you may have been a good 9 inches taller than him, but you weren’t too keen on fighting him.
“Oh- hey- hey, it’s alright mate, I just meant it was cool,” He held up his hands, as if to say he meant no harm, “Are you a hybrid too?”
Slowly you nodded, Enderpearl quickly running over to you, and you quickly scooped her up, holding her close to your body, still trying to keep the both of you warm.
“I’m Phil.” He offered, smiling.
“(y/n).” You were nearly stuttering from the cold.
“Are you cold (y/n)? You don’t seem very prepared for the climate.” Phil observed.
You nodded, “Enderpearl and me, we normally don’t come out this far, but Enderpearl likes berries and they only grow here.”
Phil nodded, “Are you an Enderman hybrid, by chance?”
“Y- yeah.” You said, reaching up and adjusting your goggles again.
“hmm, I know another enderman hybrid. You seem very cold (y/n), I don’t live to far from here, if you’d like to come warm up. It’s not very safe for you to stay out here.”
You bit your lip, wary, but looking down at Enderpearl, who was trying to curl further into your jacket, you didn’t want her to be cold, “Uh, sure, I guess.”
Phil nodded, turning and motioning for you to follow him, “Come on, You can meet Ranboo.”
“Ranboo?” You questioned, following him through the snow.
“He’s the other Enderman hybrid I know- well, part enderman part something,” Phil explained, “But that parts not important, I don’t think he can teleport but other than that he seems a lot like you.
“I’ve never met someone like me before.” You mumbled.
Phil smiled sadly, “I think that's the case for a lot of hybrids. Come on, it’s just past this clearing.”
A few moments later, as you emerged from the clearing, a rather large cottage came into view, smoke rising steadily from the chimney.
Phil gestured to the small building beside it, “That's where Techno keeps the hound army, Ranboo normally lives in a house he built just past it, but it’s far too cold for me to let him stay out there.”
You nodded, still looking around in slight awe as you followed Phil up the front steps.
“Tech!” Phil called, swinging the door open, “I’m home! I brought company!”
There was no response, and the man sighed, stamping snow off his boots and motioning for you to come all the way into the room, “There probably downstairs messing with the villagers. You can sit by the fire to warm up, I’ll go get them.”
You nodded as he went to climb down the ladder attached to one wall, slowly moving over to the fire and sitting down, Enderpearl on your lap.
“Young one.”
You jumped at the voice, turning to see an Enderman sitting in a boat in the corner of the room, “Oh- uh, hello. Are you- Are you Ranboo?”
The enderman shook his head, warbling, “I am Edward. Take off your coat child, it is far too wet to do anything but dry.”
“I’m (y/n).” You said, quickly shrugging out of your jacket.
~~ “You found another kid?” Techno crossed his arms, “Phil you’ve gotta stop bringing home strays.”
“Techno you can’t even say that, you’re the original stray.” Phil argued.
“He just doesn’t want to be replaced,” Ranboo quipped quietly, pausing to look up from sorting through a chest, “Wait- does that mean I’m a stray?”
Phil chuckled, “Yeah, it does.”
Technoblade groaned, “Phil you can’t just keep bringing kids into my house!”
“Well at least come meet them before you throw them out?” Phil asked, “And let me find them a better jacket. Its too cold for them out there.”
Ranboo watched as they had a silent staring contest, a silent discussion passing between them, until eventually Technoblade relented, grumbling something incoherent.
“Well come on then.” Phil said, motioning to the ladder.
Ranboo stood up, already starting to climb as Techno said, “I hope I don’t regret letting you do this Phil.”
“You won’t.”
Phil’s voice was partially drown out as Ranboo reached the main floor, his ears now filled with the sounds of warbled enderspeak.
He turned to see Edward deep in conversation with someone sitting hunched in front of the fire.
“You speak end?” He asked cautiously, almost hearing Phil chuckling from below.
The person jumped, purple particles flying around there head for a moment before they were gone, reappearing across the room, now next to Edwards boat.
Edward made a noise close to a chuckle, reaching one long arm out of his boat to grab your shoulder to stop your trembling, “That one is Ranboo.”
You nodded slowly, as Ranboo seemed to study you, “Your an enderman hybrid. That's so cool! I’m an enderman hybrid too! I can’t teleport though- its really cool that you can!”
You pushed your goggles up a bit from where they had slipped in the teleport, “Your eyes- why is that one red?”
“Oh- I- we think its whatever my other half is. Are your eyes green too?”
You shook your head, “Purple. How’d you mean you can’t teleport?”
“Haven’t figured it out yet- who taught you?”
You shrugged, “Just kinda knew. I usually only do it when I’m scared though.”
“Maybe you could teach me?” He asked excitedly.
Smiling you nodded, “Sure.”
~~
It was a while later, after the snow had stopped falling, and the sun had partially come out, you and Ranboo headed outside (not before Phil supplied you with a thicker coat), to try and teach him how to teleport.
Phil turned to Techno, who was watching from the window as you and Ranboo were running around laughing, trying to figure out the best way to teach him, “I know what you said about endermen in the house but we could help them with a different house, or they could stay with Ranboo proper-”
“They aren’t staying in the house,” The piglin interrupted, “Well- maybe when its cold- but other than that- not in the house.”
Phil smiled, “I knew you’d come around.”
Technoblade huffed, “I mean it’s probably safer for them here. Besides the kid needs someone like him besides Edward around here.”
The enderman in the corner nodded, also observing you and Ranboo from out the window.
Phil nodded, “Sure, sure.”
Outside you laughed again, “No! Not like that! You’ve gotta feel where you are, and where your gonna be and then just...” You trailed off, particles flying around your head again as you disappeared only to pop out on his other side.
“Okay okay, I think I get it.”
Ranboo squeezed his eyes shut, trying to do what you’d said.
You watched as the faintest of particles began to appear around his head, growing stronger- stronger- and then he fell face first into the snow.
“I don’t think this is working.” His response was muffled by the snow.
“Just a bit,” You said helping him up, “Here, hold onto me, and I’ll teleport. That normally works with Enderpearl.”
He nodded, grabbing onto your coat sleeve.
You concentrated, focusing on a spot on top of the dog house, slowly particles filled the air and then- pop! you were both standing on top of the house.
“Woah!” Ranboo exclaimed, looking around, laughing, “That felt weird!”
You nodded laughing, “Now try to teleport off the roof.”
After a while longer of failed attempts, and after being side tracked by Ranboo’s ability to move more than just dirt blocks, the sun began to set, and you headed back inside, still laughing as he recounted the time that he and Techno had spent a whole day wander around collecting spawners.
Sometime later, after dinner, both you and Ranboo had ended up sitting next to Edwards boat, the three of your quietly talking as you started the drift off, Enderpearl back in her spot on your lap.
Phil chuckled, looking over at the three endermen crowded around the boat, two mostly asleep.
Edward looked at him, noding once and warbling out something Techno couldn’t understand, “What’d ‘e say?”
Phil smiled, “Family.”

Michael Underscore Beloved Headcannons:
Michael did not speak for the longest time which made both Tubbo and Ranboo worried. He’d make a few pig noises here and there but that was it.
Happy squeals when he was very cheerful, grunts when he was angry, small whines when he was sad.
It was only when he had a big breakdown one day they brought the kid over to Uncle Techno, who began speaking in piglin to him to help him calm down, that they realized he didn’t know English. Technoblade gives him lessons every Tuesday from then on.
The first word he says is ‘Dad’ to both Tubbo and Ranboo at the same time when they were putting him to bed and he didn’t want them to leave yet, still a little scared of the dark. Both of them had that moment where they were both convinced they were the ones who got called ‘Dad’.
Cue little zombie piglin rushing in after a nightmare a few hours later, tears in his eyes as he looks at both of them, and they rush over to comfort him, the piglin hugging them both tearfully. “Dad!”
He has a stuffed animal chicken that he cannot get to sleep without, he calls it ‘mine’ so Tubbo and Ranboo just call the stuffie ‘Michael’s Chicken’.
Michael loves loves LOVES carrots, so much so that he’d find ways to climb on counters and reach high places to grab carrots to munch on, places often even he doesn’t even know how he got up there in the first place.
Tommy, first time babysitting, had no idea what he was in for, and nearly lost him for almost 40 minutes when he was just chilling on top of the fridge.
Speaking of Tommy, he’s Michael’s favorite babysitter by far. Often he’ll ask for more stories of his adventures, and of course Tommy may have twisted them a bit on how cool he really was in a few situations, but Michael loved hearing them. He even drew him and Tommy fighting against a slimy green monster labeled ‘Drem’. Tommy nearly cried when Michael showed him and keeps the drawing in his echest.
When Michael is misbehaving, often Ranboo will just pick him up with his tail and hover him off the ground in a timeout as he wriggles and squirms, crossing his arms angrily. This is the only way that piglin will ever sit still - Tubbo tried telling him to sit in a chair but found him with his hand in the cookie jar five minutes later.
Sometimes Tubbo will go out gathering honey for breakfast (Tubbo loves honey on toast) and bring Michael with him, who’ll sit there, looking up in absolute awe, pointing excitedly. “Bee!”
During something very urgent, Tubbo drops Michael off with Phil as he assures worried Ranboo and Tubbo over and over again that he’s in good hands, since the piglin is not used to being with anyone alone except for Tommy.
Phil spends the day with him playing out in the snow, and while cooking lunch for both of them Phil lets Michael wear his hat, and the piglin just lets out the happiest squeal - “Fil!”
When a snowstorm approaches later as night falls they make a campfire and Phil shows him how to make s’mores. The small piglin ends up passing out on the couch wearing Phil’s hat, and Phil just pulls the blanket up on him. “Night, little mate.”
When Michael gets a cold for the first time Tubbo and Ranboo go into full on PANIC MODE and then when they call up Phil he has to reassure them, no he’s not dying, he’s just sick.
As Techno’s English lessons improve he learns to read and of course Technoblade reads him all the Greek Mythology stories he has, and ends up calling Tommy “Fee-Fee” for Thesesus thanks to some encouragement from the Blade himself.
Bath Time used to always be a struggle until Ranboo found ‘Mr Duck’, an old rubber duckie from Phil’s older things - stuff that he kept from when Wilbur was a baby - that he washed and cleaned which entertained the piglin to no end.
Michael loves shiny things just about as much as he loves carrots, and that’s saying something. He became quite the little thief at taking anything shiny - gold ingots, iron ingots, diamonds, Ranboo’s crown - and making a little stash in his room. They eventually broke him of the habit, though his love of gold never really went away.
Tommy once, trying to be the cool uncle, went on a thieving trip for shiny things with Michael, and though many of the things they stole he had to return, he let him keep a gold nugget, which Michael treasured ever since, Tubbo even making the nugget into a necklace he could wear.
Ranboo, being the taller of the two, loves putting Michael up on his shoulders to go on walks, even introducing him to a few endermen after telling him the zombie piglin wasn’t a threat.
Michael was so scared at first, clinging behind Ranboo to his legs, holding out his small wooden play sword in fear. Ranboo knelt down next to him and gently pull away his sword to lay in the snow. “Hey, it’s okay, it’s okay, don’t be scared...” One of the enderman just comes up to Michael, looking to him in wonder before gently patting his head, letting out a glitched chirp before disappearing. “Where?!” Michael yelled, reaching to grab his sword again before the enderman appears again, making Michael scared and scrambling back into Ranboo’s arms. “It’s okay, it’s okay, look...” Ranboo reassured him as Michael looks over to see the creature offering up a dirt block, tilting its head in curiosity. Michael slowly approached, taking the block as the enderman picked up another and placed it beside the child, letting out another glitched chirp to encourage him. Looking over to his father for a moment, Michael moved to place the dirt next to the enderman’s, looking up to the creature, who leaned down to pat his head again as Michael hugged it tightly. Ranboo had never been more proud of him.
When a few people on the SMP started staring at the dark hole where his right eye should be, (not trying to be mean of course, they’re just a bit shocked when they finally meet him) Michael began to try to hide his face behind his parents more to avoid being seen. They told him that they knew a secret that he couldn’t tell anyone: people stared at him because he was special, so amazingly special that sometimes people were jealous of him and his amazing chicken herding and bravery. He brightened up after that, promising and crossing his heart never to tell, since it could make the others embarrassed. Michael grew more and more confident since then, and his parents could not be more prouder.
They were right. He was special. He was their special boy, and he always would be. <3
———————————
What do you guys think? I’d love to make more of these, I have some ideas/Headcannons of older Michael if you guys are interested!! Hope you enjoyed, I love Michael so far and his place in cannon as well as lore, little tiny zombie piglin boy my beloved-! -Minty

For the first time since August, Dream streamed on the SMP! Or more specifically, with Drista taking over.
And as usual when Drista visits, things get interesting: The server now has a second shulker box. Ranboo and Foolish make some negotiations over the ownership of it.
Hannah and Sam threaten to blow up the cat cafe where Niki, HBomb and Antfrost work, and Hannah gets officially hired as Sam’s bank manager.

- Quackity joins the call
- Jack finds him and welcomes him to his hotel
- Dream/Drista breaks the window and jumps out
- They go back up the hotel and teleport Quackity over
- Then they /kill Jack and /tp him back
- Then Jack gets banned (and unbanned)

- Drista /kills both of them
Quackity: “I don’t even know where my moral compass on stands right now, because you’re not reassuring me if the things I’m doing are right or wrong, so.”
Drista: “Well, you’re naked, so you’re doing something wrong.”
- Foolish comes over, Quackity and Jack leave. Dream says hi to Foolish and George joins the call
- Foolish tells Drista that he’s working on a mansion, and she looks homeless, so if she just gives him a shulker box…
- George gets /tp’d over and whispers to give him stuff
- George says he has nothing but a seed and a plank. Drista gives him a diamond, a piece of honeycomb, some dirt, two pieces of leather, a block of dried kelp
- Drista offers Foolish that she flips a coin. Either he loses everything on him, or gets a shulker box. If Foolish loses his things, George gets it all but isn’t allowed to give it back to Foolish
- Dream gets a coin and asks if Foolish is sure about this. Foolish agrees.
- Dream flips the coin.
- Foolish gets the shulker box!
It’s lime green.
- George wants to make a deal as well, 50/50.
He’s got, from his Ender Chest, a trident, an enchanted golden apple, three mending books, Netherite boots, a Netherite shovel, gold, a whole stack of golden apples, emeralds, a Netherite ingot, a creeper head, a speed potion, several music discs and “Taco Bell” by Dream, the Fundy Finisher and the bathwater offered up 50/50 for maxed-out full Netherite with tools
- Dream agrees to the deal and flips the coin.
- George loses.
Dream: “He made a deal with the devil and he lost!”
- George runs away into Ninja’s house and stares sadly at the bed, then logs out
- Dream gives a little speech thanking everyone for 20 million subscribers!
- Hannah and Sam see the cat cafe and agree that it’s worse than George’s house. Sam hands Hannah some TNT
- Hannah tries to spare UwU from Sam’s wrath as he rigs the place with TNT and asks HBomb for permission to blow it up
- Hannah tries to rescue the other cats
- Niki logs on and Sam tries to frame Hannah
- Hbomb logs on too and the two destroy the TNT. He says as prison warden, Sam should be a better role model
- Hannah tries to convince them that it wasn’t her
- Sam suggests they blow up Hannah’s house
- Hannah tries to negotiate for a cut of the bank’s earnings. Sam says no. Hannah then asks if she could work at the bank. Sam agrees to employ her.
- Hannah asks for a wage but Sam doesn’t agree. He says he’s just giving her a place to work.
- Hannah asks for a manager position. Sam agrees to make her Bank Manager.
- They start chasing HBomb around. HBomb threatens the skeleton horses, then says that if anything happens to the cat cafe, Hannah’s house is going down. Sam says he would fire her.
- HBomb leaves and Sam and Hannah try to heal the skeleton horse
- Ranboo has a plan to fill a chest with emerald blocks.
- Foolish asks Ranboo to speak for a bit
- Foolish tells him that he needs to sell Ranboo the shulker box, and then have Ranboo permanently rent it out to him
- Foolish says he’ll give Ranboo two Netherite blocks for it. Whenever anyone asks who the owner is, the owner will be Ranboo. Foolish is worried.
- Foolish arrives at Ranboo’s house.
- They draft up a book of negotiations transferring ownership of the lime-green shulker box to Ranboo
- Ranboo points out that this will put him in danger, so the payment has to be substantial, for dealing with the amount of danger. He knows, because of the document, people might try and get him to hand it over when war starts to go around.
- He tells Foolish that he’s already very rich, and Foolish is already building a house for him.
Ranboo: “That’s the thing, Foolish, is that...what is worth security, you know? What is worth giving up a small potential sense of security in order to be able to be able to have your -- of course you -- have the shulker box and everything, and me being the fall guy for it, of course, ‘cause that means that I’m gonna have to get involved in stuff that I’m probably not gonna get involved in at all, that I probably wouldn’t have gotten involved with at all if I wanted to.”
- Ranboo points out all his riches
- Ranboo wants two things: one, to not quit the building project anymore.
- The second...
Ranboo: “When stuff happens on this server, people always...choose sides, they always try to figure out their own morality and everything, they try to figure out ‘oh, I should be on this side, I should be on that side.’
The one thing that I ask from you, Foolish, is that if that ever happens...if you are ever doing something in which there are clear-cut sides...it’s gonna basically be...let’s just say a war favor."
-  If something, not even necessarily involving Ranboo, happens, then Foolish has to do something for him, but it wouldn’t have to do with the shulker box.
- Foolish asks that it not be murder. Ranboo says it won’t be.
- It could even just be delivering a message for Ranboo where it would look bad if he delivered it himself. In any case, it wouldn’t put Foolish in danger.
- Foolish is glad that it would never involve killing somebody else. He can’t do that anymore, can’t go back to that path...
- Ranboo tells Foolish to take a break from the mansion if he needs.
- Ranboo writes in the contract that he is the rightful owner of the box, but agrees to rent out the shulker box indefinitely in exchange for favors agreed upon off the record.
Ranboo: “Foolish, Foolish, Foolish, Foolish, Foolish...I am someone that -- I can’t be scammed, alright. But I have a way -- I have a sort of way to...be able to get my way most of the time based on, well, the ability of me speaking. So if somebody did come and try to get the shulker box...then...they’re gonna be giving me things and not even realize it.”
“I just know emotions, Foolish, and I know how to...deal with them.”
- Foolish reviews the terms
- Ranboo tells Foolish that there are certain things on the server that he cares deeply about, so...there may be a situation. But Foolish has his word that Foolish will have the shulker box in his possession. Just, if push comes to shove, Foolish may need to give it up, but Ranboo will return it.
- Ranboo signs the book, but Foolish gets to keep it
- Ranboo says in order for it to be a thing, they do have to also do a transfer of funds. Ranboo tells Foolish to grab something from his Ender Chest, anything.
- Ranboo throws Foolish the shulker and in return Foolish throws him lapis.
- Ranboo holds a grass block and says goodbye to Foolish at the door.
Foolish: “Sweet dreams -- if Endermen dream, I don’t know...”
- Foolish leaves and Ranboo returns to his goal of getting tons of emeralds.

I recently found Wedding Bells and And Then You Fell In Love, and let me just say, I can't stop thinking about them! Your writing is so good, and you're amazing at writing in character!
(I've reread them both 4 times now)
I also have a question for you :D
What kind of headcanons do you have for Ranboo's biology? Some little stuff like him having a tail is in your fics, but I wonder how else you see him
Thank for write, and you are very pog <3
Hiii! I'm so glad you liked atyfil :D!
Most of this is sort of in line w the way most of the fandom perceives him or even just his canon portrayal (and also this is all /rp obviously) but:
I really like the idea that he's just a little bit scary at first, like his eyes glow in the dark and his jaw unhinges real far when he yawns and he has horns and a tail and he's 7 feet tall, because I think that makes it all the better once you meet him and realize what a softie he is kekw.
Ranboo can touch water and not burn himself, it's only when it stays on his skin for too long that it burns. (Think like how really hot water would affect a human, yk?) Therefore being caught in the rain wouldn't be a death sentence, as long as he could find cover quick enough it'd only be a few burns (as we maybe might see in an upcoming chapter 👀)
Ranboo's perception of colors is a lil off because both his eyes see color differently, I like the idea that one eye sees inverted and the other sees the way that humans would. Toying with the idea that Michael would see in inverted color as well but idk how I feel abt that yet
His armor offers a modest amnt of water protection through enchants. Enough for him to get through the Snowchester Hyperloop with no problems, but not enough to make him immune. It'd basically be the same for him to fall in the ocean as it would falling in lava in the nether - he'd have to use gapples and swim to shore and take a bit to heal himself before he could find help
Ranboo has special enderman hygiene stuff that he's able to make for himself due to his vast riches. It's been a lot of trial and error, but he's eventually found things that work (for example, there's a plant in the nether that he can clean his teeth by chewing, no water involved.) He'll only take a lava bath/normal shower in his armor if he gets rlly dirty, although he does don his armor to help with Michael's bath time occasionally (Michael prefers lava baths sometimes)
I like to think the other Endermen on the smp see Ranboo as sort of a little brother figure, like they look out for him and they will stop by sometimes to drop dirt at his door (which he is very thankful for) and if they notice Ranboo out with Michael sometimes they'll hover nearby just in case they need to fight someone off for him :') I also love the idea that they'll gossip together, they'll tell Ranboo abt the enderman drama and he rants to them abt his life's problems
Speaking of dirt it really does help Ranboo calm down immensely. Because of his silk touch his hands are INCREDIBLY soft, and even without the fact that his brain is sort of hardwired to like carrying things around, the different textures of blocks are just very grounding for him. Sometimes Ranboo will show up to see Michael and literally just pace back and forth across the room while holding him, but it calms Ranboo down and Michael thinks it's fun so it's a win/win
The first time Tubbo saw Ranboo cry he panicked and just started dumping clumps of dirt at his feet to try and make him feel better and Ranboo was so baffled by this that it actually did get him to stop crying just so he could process what was happening ajfjwkzk
I fell in love w the idea that Ranboo has two hearts, mostly bc of how unsettling it'd be to hear TWO heartbeats coming from his chest for the first time. But I also like that bc I think having two circulatory systems would make it a lot easier for Ranboo to regulate temperature and he'd always be able to be warm in Snowchester/The Arctic (until Michael's cold hands get to him at least)
There are some other ideas I rlly like - Ranboo can 100% purr but it actually sounds a bit scary, his pupils dilate like a cat's and you can check the time of day using them, he has night vision, etc, but I feel like those are basically par for the course with Ranboo hcs
This was fun to talk abt ty :)

Ranboo Lore Recap (April 29)
so today....happened (I AM SCREAMING INTERNALLY MY TWO FAV CHARACTERS TECHNICALLY INTERACTED I AM SO HAPPY AHH)
The villain returned:
Intro piano music with black screen instead of his normal blue one.
Screen goes to complete black, is totally silent (no music) as he opens the game and goes onto the server, first words being “Oh, shoot.”
When he logs on he is still on top of L’manhole
“I’m seeing dead people again.”- Ranboo
(note: none of his usual stuff is on screen, he already stated that donos would be off but the subgoal, follower goal and even his watermark are gone which usually remain when he is doing lore)
Ranboo talks about how hard it is to deal with knowing that someone that made his friends' lives so terrible is back.
“Obviously I don’t like the guy.”- Ranboo
Ranboo tabs so he can see who is on and notices that Phil is there. Ranboo realises that he has to tell Phil, as he farms wheat by the community house he practices what he’s going to say to him….it doesn’t go great but there’s not really a good way to say it.
Ranboo makes his way towards their home and goes over what happened so that he can tell Phil.
“I shouldn't rehearse, I should say it naturally.”- Ranboo
Ranboo hypes himself up as he makes his way to Phil’s door.
He greets Phil and makes him a “chair” to sit down.
Ranboo tells Phil….everything. The plan for the prison, Ghostbur going in as cover with Tommy following, how Tommy came out with Friend and without Ghostbur.
Phil doesn’t put together that Ghostbur is “dead” until Ranboo says it, even then he doesn’t believe him because “Ghostbur is a ghost.”- Phil
“Ghostbur being gone is the good news….”- Ranboo
“....Wilbur’s back….he’s alive”- Ranboo
Phil seems very happy saying that it “changes everything.”
“I wonder if he’s any different.”- Phil
“He said that he was in a train station or something for like 13 years.”- Ranboo
Phil keeps looking up at his picture of Wil. “13 years is a very long time to be away, he might not be the same person. He certainly isn’t the same person actually. This changes a lot.”- Phil
Phil tries to get Ranboo to explain what Wilbur ways saying and how he was acting but this was Ranboo’s first time meeting Wil so he doesn’t really know.
Ranboo tells Phil that Wil thinks that the current state of L’manberg is his fault. Ranboo also tells Phil that Wil originally didn’t know him but then said he knew a lot about him.
“What I’m scared of now Ranboo is what has he been thinking about this whole time.”- Phil
Phil says that he needs to prepare for when Wilbur comes to see him, saying that they have a lot to talk about.
Phil says that he’ll talk to Ranboo later and leaves.
Throughout Ranboo keeps saying that Wilbur seemed happy and that “he didn’t seem that bad”. (Ranboo is def an optimist about how much people can change).
Ranboo looks at the blue in his inventory, goes silent for a moment before saying in the saddest voice “Ghostburs gone….I just realised that. I’m gonna miss Ghostbur.”
“I think that Wilbur has probably turned over a new leaf.”- Ranboo
Ranboo talks about how Wilbur seemed to be really fond of Tubbo. But he also knows how Wilburs actions have affected Tubbo. (He is very concerned about Tubbo, for obvious reasons)
Ranboo flips through his memory book to the last page where enderwalkboo responded to him saying “this is what I have to do” (aka stop conflict).
Ranboo says that he needs to keep a close eye on Wilbur and that there are only a few people who can help him with that.
“I know exactly who I need to go see”- Ranboo
“I just have to make sure...that he doesn’t do anything too bad.”- Ranboo
Ranboo runs through the nether, back through the main portal.
I think that Wilbur has probably turned over a new leaf cause if he hasn’t *pulls out axe*, then we are in for a wild ride.”- Ranboo
“Cause then Tubbo. Michael and Tommy will be safe.”- Ranboo
Ranboo jumps down to the hole where The Council has most recently reconvened (originally it was a joke about the 6 endermen holding grass block that had all gotten stuck in the staircase down to Ranboo’s strip mine, they were accidently let out because of a creeper explosion but Ranboo found another group of endermen in a different hole that he has redubbed The Council).
He asks The Council to keep an eye on Wilbur for him. “Let me know what he does. Make sure that if anything happens tell me. Just...let me know, okay?”
He leaves the hole. “The Council usually helps me out with that stuff. Especially since I re-learned how to talk to them” (confirmation that non-enderwalk boo can talk ender).
“I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Just wait for the letters. Oh! That means I have to make the mailbox for them.”- Ranboo (I love this, I love this so much).
“Is it my duty to tell people? What do you think particles?”- Ranboo (I love when he refers to us as particles, I don’t know why, it’s just so great)
“*reads chat giving him totally conflicting answers because it’s chat* *laughs* you guys are useless. ”- Ranboo “A lot of you guys are saying no…”
He goes looking for crying obsidian for the mailbox, going back to his place.
“Something tells me that I’m not gonna have to tell people honestly.”- Ranboo
Ranboo decides that he should put the mail box in the original meeting area (the entrance to his mine). He talks himself through building it as if there is a specific format it must be in (like a nether portal for example) in order for it to work, implying that this is something that he has either done before or has seen be done.
“Hopefully by the time I get back I will have news about what happened.”- Ranboo
He blocks off the mailbox room with dirt.
“Re-learning how to speak enderman was a fantastic idea. See that's a good thing about the experiments at least! Before I could kind of say hello sometimes...”- Ranboo
Chat/Particle: Explain the experiments?
Ranboo: No, I don’t think I will.
(at this point he turns the subgoal and dono alerts back on)
“When Tubbo described Wilbur to me he said that he really liked debates.”- Ranboo
(music comes back on)
Ranboo decides to fix up the courthouse a bit.
“We’re gonna fix Wilburs courthouse. Maybe he can warm up to me. Cause I hope he likes me. First impressions are everything. I just wanna get on Wilburs good side y’know.”- Ranboo (Ranboo’s need to be liked by new people is just a little too relatable man).
Ranboo says a couple of times that he is aware that Tommy didn’t seem to like Wilbur when he saw him but that Wilbur has been gone for a long time and has hopefully turned over a new leaf.
“I like to remain neutral in most things. But if the council comes back with bad news then obviously I’m going to protect Tuboo by any means and make sure Tommy is also good.”
“When push comes to shove I’m probably gonna be on Tommy and Tubbo’s side” *eyes emoji*
Dono: He did say that Dream was his hero
Ranboo: Yeah, he did say that Dream was his hero. Ohhhh….I forgot to mention that to Phil. Whoops….probably should have to Phil that he sees Dream as his hero…..probably a bad guy…
Ranboo says that him and Tubbo were playing chess while they waited for Tommy to kill Dream.
Ranboo realises that he needs to keep the knowledge of the nukes away from Wilbur.
He writes a note to Phil telling him about how Wilbur said that Dream was his hero. “Heya phil! Quick thing that i forgot to mention...Your newly revived son considers Dream his hero! So read into that what you want! Just thought you should know haha- Ranboo the Beloved”
He put the book and quill (not a signed book) into a chest he leaves in Phil’s house that he labels “Mail for phil”
Ranboo realizes that Wilbur doesn’t know about him and Tubbo being married or about Michael but decides that this is fine.

MCYTTOBER DAY 3: Spider
(Y'all thought I forgot, didn't you? Surprise!! Here's an extra long one shot to make up for the lateness!!)
-
Sapnap had known Dream a long time. They'd been best friends since they were kids, having found each other on the run from their respective pasts. Dream taught Sapnap to fight; Sapnap taught Dream how to build. They'd stayed together through thick and thin, and knew each other as well as themselves after all these years.
That's what Sapnap thought anyways.
The Dream Team had been travelling at night on the lookout for endermen. They could've just traded with Piglins, as George had bitterly suggested for the fifth time, but the Nether was too dangerous to occupy for long.
The little moonlight that made it through the leaves of the dark oak trees above glinted off of Dream and George's armor, the only source of light after Sapnap's enchanted axe. They moved in well established rhythm, with Dream leading the way, Sapnap and George following behind to protect his back.
None of them were prepared to watch the trees, however.
George's head snapped up to the canopy at some unheard noise. Sapnap instantly stopped moving, grabbing Dream's jacket sleeve to pull him into a stop out of instinct. George had the best hearing out of all of them, and Sapnap learned very quickly to trust him in these situations. The three of them automatically moved to press their backs together, raising their shields to form a three person brigade against the unseen threat.
"George?" Sapnap breathed. "Spider. I think." George responded. "Could be more."
Dream tensed at Sapnap's left as soon as George spoke, prompting Sapnap to jerk in his direction, thinking he was under attack. George stumbled backwards at the sudden lack of support with a noise of surprise, causing Dream to drop his shield in surprise to catch George and steady him. Sapnap only had a split second warning in the form of a hiss before a spider dropped from the trees as they were disoriented.
Sapnap screamed and threw up his shield, being knocked to the ground as the weight of the spider smashed into him. The breath was forced from his lungs as he hit the dirt, the back of his head smacking the ground with a dull thud. Sapnap's vision exploded with stars and his limbs went slack for just a moment, but that small window allowed the spider to reach over the brim of his shield to sink it's fangs into his neck.
Sapnap screamed so loud his throat was torn raw as pain spiked up his neck and made his head spin. Overworld spiders weren't venomous like their mineshaft cousins, but it still hurt like hell when it bit.
The spider's weight left Sapnap's front all at once, releasing his neck to let out a screeching hiss of pain. Hands grasped Sapnap's arms and pulled him to his feet, his head throbbing with pain at the sudden shift. He leaned heavily on his savior for support, seeing with blurry eyes that George had come to his rescue.
"You okay?!" George asked breathlessly, backing the both of them away and raising his shield as more spiders dropped to the ground in front of them. "Can you fight?"
Sapnap pressed a hand against his neck, buzzing with too much adrenaline to really feel the pain anymore. His fingers came back sticky and red, causing his stomach to flip only a little.
Sapnap heaved in a breath and his vision got clearer. "I--I think so--" he responded shakily. "Stay by me." George commanded, carefully letting go of Sapnap's waist to draw his sword. Sapnap copied the movement, wobbling only a little as he tried to stand on his own.
George charged the spider on the left, expertly throwing his shield in the way as it leapt at him. George grunted in excursion as he violently swung his shield, sending the spider flying a few blocks away. Sapnap blocked the other spider's attack with the handle of his axe as it jumped at George's exposed back. Sapnap yelled with effort as he threw the spider off of his axe, whirling it around to smack the spider in the side of the head, stunning it into immobility for a few seconds. Sapnap swung his axe blade while it was down, dispatching the spider into a puff of smoke as it perished.
Sapnap's chest heaved as he backed away, the golden green orbs of XP from the kill swirling around him. He turned to George as the other spider leapt at him again, quickly sliced in half in midair by George's blade. The smoke from the kill wafted around George's form as he turned to Sapnap, the moonlight glinting rhythmically off his circular glasses.
Sapnap was breathless. "That was COOL." he gasped, making George grin. "Never heard that from you before." George said, flicking the remaining spider blood off his sword.
Sapnap opened his mouth to quickly cover his tracks with a hollow insult, but he snapped it shut when George's face dropped. "Dream."
His head whipped around to locate their friend, quickly sprinting back to where they were ambushed. "Dream!!"
Sapnap followed close behind George, scanning the dark trees for Dream's bright green hoodie. He knew Dream could hold his own against the spiders, but George's fear made him nervous. Did he know something he didn't?
"Dream!!" George yelled again, skidding to a halt when they arrived at the ambush spot, Sapnap bumping into him from behind. Dream was nowhere to be seen.
"George," came a terrified whisper from above. Sapnap whipped his head around to see Dream clutching the trunk of a dark oak tree, many blocks high in the canopy. Dream wasn't looking at them, instead laser focused on two spiders that were slowly making a path straight for him up the tree trunk. Dream's mask hid his face as it always did, but judging by his trembling body language, Sapnap could tell he was paralyzed with fear.
That made no sense. Dream wasn't scared of anything besides iron doors. Sapnap would know if he was, he was Dream's best friend!
Wasn't he?
Sapnap was shaken out of his thoughts by George pulling out his bow. "Hold on Dream!! I've got you!" George yelled, letting an arrow fly. It hit its target dead center, causing the spider to fall from the tree and hit the ground with an angry hiss.
Dream clumsily tried to pull his limbs closer to his body as the second spider drew nearer. George pulled back another arrow from below, but his shot flew into the neighboring trees as the first spider he hit leapt onto him and tackled him to the ground.
Sapnap wildly looked between George struggling a few blocks away to Dream in the tree, the spider now not even a block away from him. Sapnap didn't know who to help; the other wouldn't be able to get his assistance in time no matter who he chose. Sapnap was frozen with indecision.
He settled for a stupid move, but one that would save them both. With a desperate cry, he threw his axe, praying to Notch that it hit his target.
Luck must have been a lady, because the shimmering blade pierced the spider's thorax with a satisfying thud, pinning it to the tree right before it leapt to attack Dream.
Sapnap wasted no time to marvel at his throw. Now weaponless, Sapnap charged the spider attacking George with his shield raised. Sapnap collided with the spider, sending them both flying over George and tumbling to the ground a few blocks away.
The spider screeched and violently bucked under Sapnap's shield, but Sapnap just pressed down harder. "Yeah, how do you like it?!" He taunted, baring his teeth as he kept the spider under his body.
The spider screeched and hissed in response, scrabbling at the reliable wood of Sapnap's shield in desperation. Sapnap felt a vicious satisfaction at having the mob trapped, a feeling that left as soon as it came when claws suddenly pierced his back.
Sapnap jerked backwards with a scream, the spider underneath him taking the opening to quickly skitter out from under his shield. Sapnap could tell from the malicious hiss in his ear that the spider that went for Dream had managed to free itself from Sapnap's axe to help its brethren.
Sapnap was quickly overwhelmed by the two spiders, despite his desperate kicking and punching to fend them off. He screamed as he felt fangs pierce his arm, feeling sticky warmth soak into his clothes from his injuries. He felt his armor being ripped to shreds under the spiders' clawed feet, digging into the vunerable flesh underneath.
Sapnap screamed for help from his friends, blinded by pain. He vaguely saw a figure smacking at the spiders with a stick, his vision too blurred with pain and blood loss to recognize them. He finally succumbed to his injuries, seeing a green blur leap over him before everything fading to black.
-
Sapnap wearily opened his eyes. He was in bed, he could tell that much, shifting his fingers through the fabric of the blanket covering him. His body ached all over, and he felt the comforting pressure of bandages on his arms and neck where the spiders had attacked him.
He tried to raise his head and immediately regretted it when waves of a dull pain spread from the back of it. Gloved hands came into his line of vision, gently lowering him back to his pillow. "Hey, relax."
Dream's soft murmur eased Sapnap's worry, but he still moved his head against his better judgment to look Dream in his masked eye. "Where--Dream? What happened?"
"You have a concussion." Dream said, frustratingly not answering Sapnap's question. "You should stay in bed for a while."
Sapnap frowned at Dream. Despite never having seen his friend's face, he'd known Dream long enough to know what he was thinking by his body language. For instance, Dream was sitting with correct posture, something he only did when he was nervous and dreading something he couldn't avoid.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Sapnap asked, getting straight to the point. Dream picked at his hoodie sleeve and didn't answer.
"Dream." Sapnap said firmly. Dream hunched his shoulders. "I was embarrassed." He admitted quietly.
"How did George know? Why would you tell him and not me?" Sapnap accused. He knew Dream would flinch at his words, but he didn't care. He felt the smallest sting of betrayal at the fact that Dream never told him he was terrified of spiders.
"It's not--I didn't." Dream stumbled. "He found out when we were doing a dumb challenge." Dream said bitterly, rubbing his arm and looking away.
Sapnap didn't respond, instead turning his head to stare at the sky. "I thought you knew you could tell me anything." Sapnap said. "I don't care, Dream. I just wish you'd told me before I got jumped by like 3 million spiders."
"It was two." Dream argued hollowly. "Whatever." Sapnap sighed.
"I'm--" Dream cut himself off, his voice suddenly low in the way it was when he was trying not to cry. Sapnap turned his head to look back at him.
"I'm sorry, Sap." Dream said thickly. "I-I couldn't move. I couldn't protect you." Dream pulled his knees to his chin, caving in on himself. Sapnap deflated, any bitterness he'd felt at Dream washing away.
"Hey." Sapnap said, making Dream look up. "It's okay."
Sapnap gently eased his arm out from under the blanket as painlessly as he could to hold it out to Dream, who hesitantly accepted it. "Don't be ashamed of it, dude. I can protect myself."
Dream snorted. "Yeah, right. Like last night when George had to beat you with a bow 80 times to help you."
"I had it!!" Sapnap argued, poorly biting down a smile. "George didn't save me at all, he just got in the way."
"Uh huh." Dream had a smile in his voice. Sapnap didn't need to see it to know it was a beautiful thing. He squeezed Dream's hand in silent acceptance, finally smiling on his own when Dream returned the gesture.
"I'm afraid of baby piglins." Sapnap admitted.
"WHAT?"
END.

Summary: When Gavin goes missing while searching for Enderpearls from Achievement City, Geoff, Jack, Ryan, Michael and Jeremy set out to find their favourite Brit.
Warnings: minor injury
WordCount: 1, 863
"Where the fuck did Gavin go?"`
Jack sighed, stopping his farming and turning to watch as he heard Geoff yelling about the young Brit.
"What did he do this time?" Jack said as Geoff came up to his garden.
"There's fucking lava in my house! And the only one who can't be found is that little shit. So, have you seen him?"
Jack sighed; just a prank, then. "No, Geoff, I haven't seen him. Check with Michael, you know those two are always together."
Geoff groaned. "I know. That's why I checked with him first. Nada." Jack felt the stirring of something in his stomach. Geoff went on "…same thing with Jeremy. Said he hadn't seen him since yesterday"
Jack asked, the ‘something’ solidifying into worry. "And Ryan? Did you-Have you asked him yet?"
Geoff huffed, oblivious to the trepidation spreading through his bearded companion. "He's next on my list, if you're sure you haven't seen him? If you're covering for the little prick he won't be the only one to pay the price"
Jack cut him off; "No, I definitely haven’t seen him. Do you think…do you think something might have happened?”
Geoff, understanding why the ginger was so nervous, felt the beginnings of concern. “No, no I’m sure he’s with Ryan, or off hiding somewhere because he knows I’ll beat his ass when I find him.”
Jack look unconvinced, but replied nonetheless “Yeah, I’m just being silly. But let’s go ask Ryan…just in case.”
“Yeah”
Ryan was completely engrossed in his work when the two older men approached. He seemed to be building some sort of underground chamber, and neither Jack nor Geoff wanted to know why he needed a giant stone glass ceiling-ed room.
“Ryan.”
The tall blonde turned around, a flicker of concern crossing his face when he saw the two older men’s tense stances.
“What’s wrong?”
“How did you-why do you think somethi-” Geoff began spluttering, before being cut off by his bearded companion.
“Have you seen Gavin?” Jack asked, getting straight to the point.
Ryan’s face immediately grew more concerned. Though he would vehemently deny it, they all knew he had a soft spot for the Brit. “He’s not with Michael? Or Jeremy?”
“No, and if he’s not with you either, no one has seen him since yesterday morning.” Geoff responded, worry for his surrogate-son clear on his face. “He set my house on fire, but it’s burned enough he could have done it even before then, I was building an underwater house last night, I haven’t been home in 2 days.”
“And I haven’t seen him since he was talking to me about getting some ender pearls…oh. Oh shit.” Jack said, realization dawning.
“Oh shit” Ryan echoed.
The three men looked between themselves, before simultaneously coming to a decision.
“Well, if we’re gonna do this; we had better go grab the lads.” Geoff announced, his tone brooking no arguments, though his fellow gents had no protests. They were both keenly aware of the extents they would go to for the youngest of their mish-mashed little sextet.
Jeremy and Michael are together when the Gents come stalking up, looking for all the world as though someone has died; their gazes dark, their shoulders slumped, their steps laborious. Both the lads’ minds immediately jump to the last time one of their own had looked like that, remembering watching as Ryan didn’t look close enough, as he was taken by surprise by a skeleton archer, and sent careening over the edge of a cliff, and both Michael and Jeremy suddenly become acutely aware of the one member missing from the gathering.
“Where’s Gavin?” Jeremy asks, trepidation clear in his voice.
“We think he might be…that is to say, we’re fairly sure he’s bee-”
“The idiot got himself stuck in the Nether.” Ryan cuts off Jack’s stuttering, though he looks at the man apologetically. Jack, of course, understands. Each member of their little troupe deals with their concern differently; Jack gets anxious and nervous and worried, becoming over-protective and mothering; Ryan lashes out, goes short-tempered and impatient to hide his fear.
“Well fuck” Michael lets out.
“Couldn’t have said it better myself. Which is why we’re about to go after the little shit and help him with all whatever trouble he’s gotten himself into.” Geoff says, before turning on his heel and stalking off.
The four remaining hunters share a look, communicating without words; they all saw the way Geoff’s eyes betrayed his concern before he turned away, and they all know they’ll have to look out for him. Where Jack frets and Ryan angers, Geoff becomes ruthlessly efficient, working and fighting while completely ignoring his own needs. It will only be worse with Gavin, whom Geoff has always been more protective of, and the men all make a silent vow to make sure Geoff is okay. Of course, Geoff isn’t the only one who has a soft spot for the Brit, and, as each man’s gaze meets the others’, each can see the resolve hardening in their compatriots’ eyes. They’ll all make it out of this unharmed, Nether and monsters be damned.
The 5 of them walk through the nether, heading away from the only entrance and exit and towards what Jeremy eloquently put as “our impending doom.” The boys’ usual boisterous humour was noticeably missing, only adding more tension to the already downcast group.
Geoff headed the group, walking determinedly forward, as though knowing exactly where he would find their missing lover. Jack walked next to him, clearly following Geoff but striding directly by his side, not a step behind. Jeremy walked behind them, eyes running over each and every pile of dirt, monster and lava pool with a frantic attentiveness that spoke of his fear. Michael paced around the group, breaking through anything obstructing the path or around it, his frustration being taken out on the unfeeling piles of dirt and monsters roaming the dark world. Ryan pulled up the back of the troupe, not interacting with the others in the slightest, a tight hold on his emotions in an attempt to keep himself from breaking down. His eyes watched the backs of the 4 men he called his own, trusting them to be looking for their last member, but unable to look away for fear of another of them disappearing.
They were all getting more and more anxious as the minutes went by with no sign of Gavin when a muffled shout came from just over the horizon. Five heads snapped towards the sound, stopping in their tracks.
“Is that-”
“That’s gotta be-”
“Sounds like-”
“Oh my god-”
“Gavin!”
Suddenly the cry came again, still muffled but slightly louder, and with the tell-tale squawking of one very unique man.
The group looked at each other before rushing towards the sound, jumping over pools of lava and rushing uncaring of pig men and endermen, cutting and hacking as the yelling got louder, though it was no more legible the closer they got to it. Eventually, it became clear the noise had some sort of rhythm to it. In fact, if Jack didn’t know any better, he’d say it was…
“Is that fucking asshole singing?” Michael asked, relief mixing with anger over what was, yes, becoming more and more clearly Gavin’s nasally version of singing.
As the group approached, they could finally make out the loudly sung and worryingly slurred lyrics of the tune.
“-end Her Victorious
Happy and Glorious
Long to Reign Over Us
God Save The Queen!”
The band of men finally made it to the source of the sound, a large, very deep obsidian hole, with a sandy-haired figure at the very bottom of it. The figure, quickly identified by his lovers as Gavin, was lolling about with one of his legs at a very unnatural angle. He had paused for a moment, as though in deep thought, then, after a deep breath, has taken up the tune again.
“Our Albert Edward Bless
God Grant Him Happiness
God Save the Pr-”
Gavin’s rolling eyes finally stopped on the five faces peering over the edge of the hole, mouths and eyes wide with shock, though whether over Gavin’s song or the fact he was singing not one of them could say. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your perspective, befor they could regain their wits, the thin man spoke again.
“Oh bollocks” He said, speech only becoming more unintelligible as he continued, “you all missed the first verse. No matter, I’ll restart.” Then he took a deep breath, clearly intent on doing as he had said he would.
Before he could get a word out, thought, there were a series of thumps around him as Geoff, Jack, Ryan, Michael and Jeremy jumped into the hole. Geoff grabbed the young man, pulling him into a hug before the Brit flinched violently and rolled over the throw up. Jack petted his back soothingly, before he, with Geoff’s help, got Gavin settled with his head in the tattooed man’s lap.
“Gav?” Michael asked, tentative.
“Hey Micool” he replied, voice slurring the already horrid pronunciation even further. “What’re you guys doing here?”
“Saving your ass” Ryan instantly replied, continuing “How the hell did you get yourself stuck in an obsidian hole.”
“No’ enough…blocks n’ the food… the food ran n’out” Gavin, voice filled with exhaustion, muttered out.
“Well you fucking dick, next time maybe you should think of that before GOING INTO THE NETHER ALONE!” Geoff cried, voice lacking heat but filled with worry.
The smaller man just mumbled and turned his face into his stomach, curling around Geoff as Jack kissed his head while Michael took up the post of rubbing his back. Jeremy stood by, lightly resting a hand on his shoulder, while Ryan stood, still agitated as one of their party was hurt.
After a moment of silence, Gavin mumbled something again, the only word that was understandable being “…home?”
Geoff visibly softened, tense lines from his, and the others’, worry fading out as he gently lifted the clearly concussed young man.
“Yeah Gav, we’re gonna bring you home.”
Slowly, the six made their way out of the hole, building steps for Geoff to climb easily with Gavin still encompassed in his arms, shuddering lightly.
“’Ere was…”
“There was what Gav? C’mon, love, it’s okay.”
Gavin’s body was racked with a shudder again. “All ‘ight long…cryin’ out…bloody terrifying”
It was Geoff’s turn to shiver. “Who?”
Gavin turned into the larger man’s chest, the name just barely above a whisper. “Enderdicks”
Geoff’s arms tightened as, to his left, Jeremy let out an incredulous laugh. Geoff turned to look at him sharply, but the young man was already explaining himself.
“It’s just… no matter what happens, he’s still Gavin.” Jeremy shrugged helplessly.
And as the group finally exited the red-bathed world for their own-as they laid Gavin down in bed, as Michael and Jeremy reached for his hands, Geoff and Jack sitting next to his legs, and Ryan sitting by his head, just close enough to feel his heat but not quite touching. As they finally settled down together, just as it should be- Well, Geoff couldn’t help but agree.
