Trans men face deep isolation in Pakistan. The country, with a conservative Muslim majority, has entrenched beliefs on gender and sexuality, so trans people are often considered outcasts. But trans women have a degree of toleration because of cultural traditions. Trans women in public office, on news programs, in TV shows and films, even on the catwalk, have raised awareness about a marginalized and misunderstood community. The Pakistani movie and Oscar contender “Joyland” caused an uproar last year for its depiction of a relationship between a married man and a trans woman, but it also shone a spotlight on the country’s transgender community. Trans men, however, remain largely invisible, with little mobilization, support or resources. Trans women have growing activist networks — but, according to Aman and others, they rarely incorporate or deal with trans men and their difficulties. “It’s the worst,” said Aman. “We are already disowned by our families and blood relatives, then the people we think are our people also exclude us.” Trans women have been able to carve out their space in the culture because of the historic tradition of “khawaja sira,” originally a term for male eunuchs working in South Asia’s Mughal empire hundreds of years ago. Today, the term is generally associated with people who were born male and identify as female. Khawaja sira culture also has a traditional support system of “gurus,” prominent figures who lead others. But there is no space within the term or the culture surrounding it for people who were born female and identify as male. “Every khawaja sira is transgender, but not all transgenders are khawaja sira,” said Mani, a representative for the trans male community in Pakistan. “People have been aware of the khawaja sira community for a long time, but not of trans men.” He set up a nonprofit group in 2018 because he saw nothing being done for trans men, their well-being or mental health. Trans people have seen some progress in protecting their rights. Supreme Court rulings allow them to self-identify as a third gender, neither male nor female, and have underscored they have the same rights as all Pakistani citizens. Although Mani was involved in the trans rights bill, most lobbying and advocacy work has been from transgender women since it became law. “Nobody talks about trans men or how they are impacted by the act,” said Mani. "But this is not the right time to talk about this because of the campaign by religious extremists (to veto changes to the act). I don’t want to cause any harm to the community.” Another reason for trans men’s low visibility is that females lead a more restricted life than males in Pakistan, with limits on what they can do, where they can go and how they can live. Family honor is tied to the behavior of women and girls, so they have less room to behave outside society’s norms. On a practical level, even if a girl wanted to meet trans people and get involved in the community, she wouldn’t be able to because she wouldn’t be allowed out, said Aman.

I think that maybe the worst impact that Trump's presidency made on the American landscape is that Trump Derangement Syndrome was 100% real and millions of American just never recovered- millions of liberals fully lost their minds and became incapable of reasoning along the lines of their own principles rather than according to sheer partisan reaction. They believed by the millions, and their serious journalists and talking heads regularly claimed to believe, that it made more sense that Vladimir Putin was holding a sex tape over the head of the US president than that liberals ran an election campaign against an embarrassingly bad candidate and lost. They became so allergic to disagreement itself that they regularly attacked the character of people generally on their side over minor and inconsequental political differences. They became so allergic to thinking and to the marketplace of ideas that many of them now legitimately believe that support for freedom of speech is itself a dogwhistle. They became so weak in their principles that they argued that any American, especially any conservative, who took issue with sending billions of taxpayer dollars into the black hole of a meat grinder of a war in Eastern Europe was a traitor and a lover of Vladimir Putin- being anti war, long one of the single best traits of American liberals, was tossed to the side largely just in reaction to Trump's personal desire to avoid new wars. They convinced themselves that feminists speaking up in defense of the ability of women to even discuss wanting to maintain some designated single sex spaces, facilities, groups, etc for women were not just similarly-principled women with whom they had disagreements on the definitions of basic terms, but actually fascists, purely in reaction to conservative dislike of gay, bisexual, gnc, and trans people. They became so accustomed to simply making the truth by speaking it into existence with their media heads and their factchecking bodies that mainstream media all but pretended there were no riots in the summer of 2020 when people could walk around and see them for themselves. They became so nostalgic for the platonic ideal of a president that they rehabilitated the image of George W. Bush despite his being a war criminal who outright lied to justify the illegal invasion of a country for oil that led to unthinkable amounts of destruction and death, and who grew the tendrils of the American security state until they reached into the personal email accounts of American citizens. They straight up forgot how to think and reason and even how to look at the world as it actually exists, and that's what we are stuck with.

Africans, Europeans, Middle Easterners, Native Americans, Asians and so on, and this is just me talking about the slavery that went on during the only period in history in which you people seem to care about slavery.
Yes, Europeans had slaves, but they didn't run into the Congo with nets, they bought them from local African kingdoms, Dahomey, Kanem Bornu, Kingdom of Allada, Aro Confederacy, Ashanti Empire, Songhai Empire and the Mali Empire to name a few.
These African nations grew fat and opulent on money gained from "slaving," however they are never critiqued, never condemned by your side, but those, like the British, who put a stop to the slave trade in the west, are condemned and anyone who speaks out against this blatant racist bias, is condemned as a nazi or white supremacist, as you and the one you reblogged from have done.
No, instead people who believe as you do make movies glorifying the worst slavers in Africa, such as when Hollywood decided to make "the Woman King," a movie glorifying the Dahomey slavers.
Let's read what the Late King of Dahomey said when the British ended the slave trade, king Ghezo said; "The slave trade is the ruling principle of my people. It is the source and the glory of their wealth…the mother lulls the child to sleep with notes of triumph over an enemy reduced to slavery." Coincidentally he was played by John Boyega in the film, despite having been long dead by the time the film is meant to take place.
Oh, then we have the Indian Ocean slave trade which took Africans from east Africa, mainly the Christian kingdom of Ethiopia, and traded them to areas of India and Asia, then we have the Arab slave trade which took slaves from east Africa, North Africa, Europe, India and Asia, btw this was all happening at the same time as the Trans Atlantic, however you won't find slave descendants in these areas, why?
They castrated male slaves prior to selling them.
An even better fact is this, the Arab and Asian slave trade of Africans and other races is still going on today, it hasn't stopped, and today more than 30 million people are slaves globally, but that's a conservative estimate, it could be far higher.
In fact, let's use this very liberal estimate map from the global slavery index;
Tumblr media
And would you look at that, you're so preoccupied with condemning an entire race for something we willingly ended hundreds of years ago, while ignoring the ongoing slavery around the world, oh, but you can't actually do anything about that so you'd prefer to virtue signal online rather than campaign to end slavery globally, after all one is easy and gives you immediate gratification by your online circlejerk while the other you may never see the end result of.
Personally I choose the latter, why?
Blessed are those who plant trees knowing that they shall never sit in the shade of their foliage.

One of the goofiest Femininity blogs on here was run by this middle eastern 22yro and because the only people impressed by women like this doing their I'm so wordly bit are teenagers and women that are struggling, a 15yro Caribbean girl asked her about hypergamy and this bone head told her to avoid socialising and hold onto the conservative nature of her upbringing.
The worst thing you can do or encourage in girls and women is naivety and isolation. Any woman that tells you that is more concerned with the aesthetics of purity than creating young women that can navigate the world. She's making you easy prey.
There is a reason so many sheltered young women that come from strict families end up pregnant by bummy men. Their naivety and meant they can't spot red flags or manipulative flattery and a strict upbringing creates individuals that are bad at decision making and thinking for themselves so will defer to authority figures and an authority figure that tells you you're pretty is difficult for a teenage brain.
Also never under estimate the thrill of doing something new and having a similar experience that you see your peers having. Being young means you're always going to be an easier target but you don't have to leave these girls without a fighting chance or supportive friends

I had to log in to my computer for this. Let's go.
I. Hate. Nationalists.
I. Hate. Conservatives.
I hate self-proclaimed "Marxists" who are both Conservative and Nationalistic.
Marxism, Socialism, Communism, and all Leftist ideologies are incompatible with Conservatism and Nationalism. There is no compatibility between them, and the adoption of Conservatism and Nationalism by economically Socialist people and parties is not only revisionist, it is a total and complete betrayal of Marxism in all its forms, including Leninism and Stalinism, ideologies behind which many of these bastards hide behind.
The LGBT community benefitted thoroughly from Socialism in Eastern Europe, that is undeniable. Countries like the German Democratic Republic, the Polish People's Republic, the Republic of Cuba, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Lao People's Democratic Republic have brought freedom, in large part, to LGBT people, within the frameset of their times. The Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the People's Republic of Bulgaria made enormous scientific steps to understand LGBT people. Lenin had liberated LGBT people in the early Soviet Union before Stalin undid that in one of the worst mistakes of his premiership.
For self-proclaimed "Socialists" and "Marxists" to deny this is to deny historical fact and give into the lies of Liberal propaganda, based mainly on a purposeful misunderstanding of history and on survivorship bias. Am I saying that LGBT people were entirely free? Of course not. Persecution was still common in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Macedonia, Romania, Albania, and -of course- the Post-Stalinist USSR, and even in countries where it was wholly legalised, often the governments didn't go further to ensure protection, but this happened at a time where in the Capitalist Bloc tens of thousands of LGBT people were executed and imprisoned compared to a few thousand in all of the Eastern Bloc in the same time.
The liberation of LGBT people is inherent to Marxism, and anybody who claims that not to be the case is not only a revisionist and a reactionary but a traitor to the revolution and the cause: Do not let their pitiful attempts at Identity Politics get to you. No war other than the class war means no war based on gender, no war based on ethnicity, race, nation, or anything. The only fight that Socialism must embark upon is that of the proletariat against the bourgeoisie war whose intrinsic goal is overthrowing the established order and liberating the proletariat, be they a woman, a man, neither, both, in between, or someone else entirely. Regardless of who they do or do not love.
Nationalism is against all the values of Marx and Engels, Lenin and even Stalin. Do not let them hide behind their excuses from Kim Il Sung and Stalin. Stalin never supported Nationalism. He explained in Marxism and the National Question that each nation has different material conditions, and thus they each have varying procedures to be taken to achieve the revolution. This is one of the few beliefs he shared with the Left Opposition of Trotsky.
The belief that the primary division of humanity is the nation is revisionist, not just revisionist but one of the main rhetorics of fascists and nazis, according to which the superiority of one nation over every other separates "Good" from "Bad". There is no "National Communism"; there is a "National Way to Communism", no Socialist Nationalism, no Left-Wing Nationalism. Any ideology that puts the nation before the people and culture before the workers, that ideology is not leftist, socialist, or Marxist, but rather some type of Falangism more or less moderate.
Be warned of these reactionaries and fascists pretending to be Socialists: do not fall for their rhetoric and stand your ground. The liberation of the proletariat includes everyone, all people of all nations, everywhere on Earth. No tolerance for the intolerants, no war but the class war, no enemy but the bourgeoisie. Remember, comrades, the revolution is red, rainbow, black, pink, blue, and every colour because the only struggle that unites us is against the oppression of Capitalism. The only things we have to lose from this liberation are our chains.

Extra thoughts about Nevertheless
Disclaimer: I did not read the original webtoon, this post is only about the K-drama.
I really liked it, in spite of featuring the two most frustrating characters in history as the mains.
Adult me was constantly rolling her eyes every 20 minutes or so, being all like "oh dear, here we go again, she assumes things and builds up frustration until she either explodes or ignores him completely, and he just shuts up and doesn't share his thoughts or his feelings, and they just PINE in silence and oh lord, this is exhausting".
But my inner twenty something year old? SHE WAS ELATED.
While watching the first episodes, I noticed that for the most part, it's not Jae-eon's actions per se that turn Na-bi away - it's her misinterpretation of those actions, and the opinions of others that turn her away, because other than that, they get along quite well. I'm not saying he's completely innocent in all that transpires - far from it, even, because he does have a tendency to shut down when she assumes the worst, and also to not communicate properly (telling the person he likes that he likes her? too mainstream), so of course they're bound to argue more often than not. However, she's not stellar at communication either - she assumes things, doesn't speak up on what she actually wants (her internal monologue "why can't you my boyfriend?" remains internal, she doesn't actually ask him out until the last episode), and ignores him when she's upset. And yet, as frustrating as this is, I can see where she comes from. I absolutely hate it, don't get me wrong, but I get it.
Having grown up in a quite conservative society myself (although Eastern European rather than Asian), I found Na-bi's thought process so incredibly familiar. As women, we are taught to be ashamed of having sexual desires. Sexual desires are restricted (ideally) to marriage, with the second best thing being an official relationship - everything outside of that turns you into a slut (derogatory). Na-bi obviously is not familiar or comfortable with the concept of hanging out and dating casually (and having casual sex), and is also immensely uncomfortable with the thought that people might think she doesn't respect herself enough because she has a casual relationship (she has yet to reach that extremely liberating stage when you understand that no matter what you do as a woman, you will still be judged, so it's better to do whatever the hell you want). Also she (obviously) wants more than what she gets, she wants an actual relationship with Jae-eon, not only friends with benefits or whatever it is that they are (they never really define their initial encounters), but since she doesn't have enough guts to ask for it, she just asks him to keep everything a secret. And this ends up creating a disconnect not only between her and Jae-eon, but even between her and reality; for example, she accuses him of only wanting to see her when he wants, although she was the one who asked him to keep their encounters a secret, therefore limiting by default their interactions.
That's not to say Jae-eon isn't frustrating. I actually find him even more frustrating than she is, because I can't relate at all to him, and also, I don't feel like his backstory is expanded enough for me to understand where he comes from (his relationship with his mother is somewhat strained, and it's not entirely clear why he broke up with Seol-ah). I must say, however, that I encountered people like this in real life - people who seem friendly and have an incredible energy, but who are in fact very closed off and guarded, and who make you feel like you bang your head against a wall whenever you try to get closer to them. Jae-eon likes Na-bi, but doesn't really know what to do with those feelings, and is perfectly content with their initial encounters, which are very uncomplicated from his perspective (he gets all the domestic, blissful happiness, with none of the work required for an actual romantic relationship). Then, to his surprise, she ends everything, and distances herself from him, and he basically completely freaks out by the end of the show with jealousy and longing, and well... this is basically catnip to me personally (in a strictly fictional sense, I would have zero patience for such a guy in real life), because isn't "drive the normally aloof, cold guy completely out of his mind" a well-known trope for a reason? I loved to see him suffer, I loved to see him lash out, only to be reduced to tears when she says she regrets their relationship and having met him, and I loved beyond measure that at the end they both seem changed by their common experience, and put their desires and wishes clearly into words.
I also loved that the show acknowledges it's not going to be easy for them. They might be compatible in many ways, but their communication styles are bound to clash, and a happy ending is not necessarily in the cards. "I am going to suffer, most likely", their voiceovers tell us, "but whatever, I am going to do it anyway, I am going to take that leap of faith anyway", and I think it's this final conclusion that cemented me liking this entire thing. I don't find the relationship between the mains as toxic as most people seem to think; I rather saw it as a story of two people who are completely inexperienced in matters of romance and communication, who learn things as they go along, and whose reactions are shaped by their lives up until that point as well as the socio-cultural expectations around them. Frustrating? Greatly. But they still have room to grow, and whether they will grow together, or apart, it will still be worth it. That's the final message, I believe.

i for one am so very very glad jk did not comment on middle eastern politics given her well everything (white english conservatives who are both deeply anti arab racists and antisemitic have the worst takes on this kind of thing) but the fact the wizarding world has an ambiguously labelled SCHOOL NUMBER NINE that managed to achieve peace in the middle east is so funny. so fucking funny.

its so weird to me that some of the people you know with the WORST takes on shit like religion/politics/be homophobic or racist can also have opinions/have done or do stuff thats also incredibly important
Like, for example, my grandpa def is. super religious, dislikes queer ppl, is a trump supporter but he's also very aware of & advocates against the hatred of middle-eastern people and can hold a very in depth conversation abt the effects 9/11 had on them. he also used to be a waterfowl hunter and is very aware of ethical hunting & land conservation and (while he doesnt "believe in climate change") he talks a lot about how humans destroy ecosystems/biodiversity. He also, most shockingly, is incredibly open about music/art and while he doesn't like certain types of it (namely anything thats openly queer) he still has expressed thinking it should be allowed to exist. (albiet, in his eyes, "to show whats wrong," but still lol) truly a baffling man.

I love the official Touhou print works so much 'cuz not only are they genuinely hilarious and interesting, but every now and again, you'll get a scene where it's really clear that ZUN is just fed up with some issue plaguing the world. For example, this bit from Forbidden Scrollery:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's almost like ZUN is tired of people cherry picking articles to assume the worst and all the "news" outlets that'll capitalize off of this to spread fearmongering, but I could TOTALLY never tell from reading this. It's not like ZUN blatantly wears his politics on his sleeve when writing, y'know.
The absolute best and funniest example of this, though, is Alternative Facts in Eastern Utopia.
Tumblr media
This book spends its entire page count demonstrating the dangers of tabloids that exaggerate and lie about what they're reporting on get more sales, and it even thoroughly dismantles multiple conservative talking points. Throughout this book, you can find Aya making such gems as claiming outsiders are trying to destroy Gensokyo through immigration, adding pinups of herself and other tengu to make the magazine sell more, commenting on one of Hatate's articles and blacking out blocks of text to change the message entirely, and even reporting on one of Miko's sermons but replacing the entire thing with a certain speech given by a certain ruler of a certain overseas nation. By the end of the book, she's thoroughly shut down in every interview she tries to have, and not only does she cancel the tabloid, but she even issues numerous corrections on what she wrote and caps the whole thing off with a letter of apology and self-reflection. Hell, the book's even called Alternative Facts. It doesn't get more blatant that that. It's a phenomenal read (though it will cause untold amounts of psychic damage) and one of my favorite official print works. Generally, the fastest way to know if you can trust a Touhou fan is to ask them their opinion on this particular book.
Anyways, this all goes to say that I fucking love ZUN's writing, and more people should read the print works.

If people aren't mad at pride products, then how do you explain the Kid Rock Bud Light situation? That wasn't even in June!
If people aren't mad that LGBT+ people exist, then explain the 2016 Orlando Nightclub Shooting! That was obviously a hatecrime!
Just because you feel the way you do doesn't negate the actual harm put on LGBT+.
You don't have to bend the knee to us, just don't pretend like this isn't happening constantly!
1. I never said there was not hate towards LGBT people. Not once. They're still very much is. But hate towards all groups does and will always exist no matter how small
2. The Bud light situation is complicated. Dylan M. Isn't trans. He's an amalgamation of trans trended, attention seeker, clout chaser, and narcissist. Created by TikTok no less. And he's frankly a mockery of LGBT people as a whole. As Bud Light is a beer that caters to conservatives yes, they got boycott. Not because Dylan's "trans" but because like my post stated normies are extremely tired of having it all shoved in their face. Dylan was an extreme case to those people because there is an actual movent of trans activists (not all of whom are trans) pushing people mindlessly into transitioning. With no barriers. No mental health help, just strait to CSH and surgeries. Add to that people being told they are not allowed to criticize it and yes you anger people.
3. So the shooting was interesting for 2 reasons. The first being this:
Tumblr media
Which we know good well that Muslims hate gay people..... Correction. Must middle eastern Muslims hate gay people. Secondly, there was talk at the possibility he was deep closeted gay. And considering his religious background that makes sense. things from the article actually possibly lend credence to this. The first being that he was weirdly narcissistic. As in work out all the time and admire yourself in the mirror a lot. But something else his wife brought up was that he often got excessively angry at his name. Because to him the name sounded gay. Does that prove that man way gay? No. But combining those two things feels a lot like a homophobic gay man who can't come to terms with who he is. Much like the frat boy jock types you see whom get exceedingly angry over being called gay but have a tendency to do things that are in fact kinda gay. A lot of the time that level of anger is from internalized homophobia. Can I confirm that theory? No. It's it possible though? Yes.
4. Lastly, you might not be asking people to bow to you. But a large number of LGBT people are demanding others bow down and worship them. My post never said this was all our even most LGBT people. Just a very extreme and vocal minority who demand compliance and glorifying. I can't count the number of listicles, articles, posts etc, I see of "If you are straight, you support sexual violence" or, "Cis people are boring and why it's not ok to be cis" and TikToks of youths saying, "I'm sorry but if you're not LGBTQIA2+ you can be friends with me or my friends. Straight is overrated and needs to end because it's stupid straight people are bad and climate change is killing us. #NoMoreBabies." < This being one of the worst because kids are desperate to have the attention of their peers. And more desperate to fit in. If you tell them being trans or otherwise it's the only option they'll be trans. Because they are FAR too young to understand WHAT THAT MEANS.
Again. I don't think this stuff is all anti-lgbt hate. I think a lot of it is normies tired of having it pushed in their face. And again. You might not be the one doing it. But there are LGBT people on my post who agree that it's happening. So it's not an observation unique to me.
And this may piss you off, but LGBT people have been in a position of power and privilege for a number of years now. To a point many are legally and socially beyond criticism and consequence. And what was that saying neo progressives like so much? When you've been in a position of privilege, equality feels like oppression"? Hate will always exist. Always. Some will see it much more than others. But as a whole, the fact it's gotten to the point LGBT people can do sex acts in front of kids without reproach is proof enough of what I've said.
In closing, I'm not, not have I said, that LGBT people don't have hate geared towards them. Certainly they do. But in the West, LGBT are safer than in almost any other country. But media is going to media and politics are going to politic. If something can be perceived as a hate crime, certain political parties will run with it, and their allies in media will make sure it's global news. We have 300+ Mil People here. That considered, the amount of actual hate crimes are small. Which while still a bad thing, that number can not and never will be zero.

the war that is happening of course remains the worst experience for the ukrainians and I would never compare our situation to theirs. however, we should talk more about the fact that all eastern europeans I know were literally paralysed last year for a few days. and I'm talking here about young people, people who were born in "free" countries, people who are too young to remember the USSR regime. our trauma is rooted so deeply in our DNA that we reacted the same way as our ancestors would. one of my friends isn't even into politics or history or anything and she told me she refused to go to sleep because she was scared that when she wakes up, there would be russians in our city (I felt the same way by the way, I was terrified to fall asleep because what if they bombed us suddenly over the night?). her friend on the other hand, who is a leftist and not a conservative at all, called her in the middle of the night to tell her he was scared and wanted to pray together. not to mention all my online friends from other post-soviet countries that shared similar experiences with me while we talked around that time. as I said before – this war remains the worst experience for the ukrainians and we can't compare ourselves to them – but this is a traumatic experience for us all, too, in one way or another. I want to send hugs and love to all my slavic and non–slavic friends from the eastern europe.

hiya, another have-to-watch-at-3am-in-the-morning" person here. have you noticed the lack of promotion for go2 on primetr's social medias? they only posted the first official promo poster on instagram followed by 2 stories. I hear some other non English speaking countries' prime socials are more active than ours when it comes to Good Omens, which makes me think the official Good Omens Prime socials are not queerbaiting at all, since a big chunk of prime's audience in our country is conservative at best and everything-phobic at worst - thus minimalizing the promotion of a beloved adaptation. what are your thoughts on this?
OHHH you might be onto something, because in here promoting a queer show could backfire for them (like you know they NEVER celebrate pride month in middle eastern socials) I didn't know about the instagram stories bc i don't use it but interesting...
But you're right, other non-english speaking socials were pushing hard for the ship (like when i think Brazil one said ''admit it's not platonic anymore'' or something similar) but from ours... Cricket noises.

It feels like its starting to sink in with more people on the left and even among a few centrists that the Republicans aren’t joking and have every intention of launching another civil war. What worries me is that almost nobody seems to appreciate just what that means. Many people on here seem convinced that the worst thing that can happen is that liberals/leftists abandon the Red States, or rather the persecuted peoples living within those states, to their fate. Others have a downright infantile attitude, and think the war will be won relatively quickly (this is unfortunately a pretty common belief among conservatives and liberals). Lets make two things abundantly clear right now: 1.) The Blue States aren’t going to abandon oppressed people in the Red States/allow the Red States to secede and the reason is:
2.) Secession, or even widespread violent insurrection within the Red States would have disastrous consequences for global supply chains, and people nowhere near the fighting would die as a result if we did nothing.
In a highly interconnected global economy, hardly anybody is capable of being self sufficient at the drop of a hat, and that’s true within the borders of the United States. Most of our cereals and livestock feed is grown in Iowa. Most of our oil and gas is refined in Louisiana and Texas, and a lot of it is sourced from North Dakota. Most of our produce is grown in California, our dairy comes mainly from California, Wisconsin, and New York, and most of our Beef comes from Canada but is fed using Iowa grain.
Tumblr media
So, what happens when war breaks out and the most complex supply chain on the planet gets interrupted? People die everywhere by the score. Let’s say we get lucky, and the garrison at Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), manages to secure at least everything south of I-10 and the Marines land and retake New Orleans in the opening months of the war... they’re not gonna be able to secure the oil and gas supplies from East Texas and North Dakota. Even if we get alternate supplies from the Persian Gulf or by reactivating every well in the Gulf of Mexico and California, there will be severe shortages just in time for winter. The worst cases will be in contested territory, where neither side has reliable supply lines (most likely the Midwest). People facing a Midwestern polar vortex with no heating fuel will freeze to death in their own homes, burning garbage just to stay alive. Untold millions will try and flee, either to one of the loyalist zones or into Canada. Its worth mentioning that Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania have a combined population of  65.9 million people and Canada has a population of 38.3 million. Ontario on its own has only 14.6 million. During the worst days of the Syrian civil war, about half of the population was displaced. Ottawa would have no way of managing even 10% of the Midwest flooding into their largest province. The government would collapse, and that’s assuming its not already overburdened from a white nationalist rebellion in the western provinces. In New York and Eastern Pennsylvania, the population will be barely holding together as it is before having to deal with tens of millions of refugees. So they’d have no choice but to fight. But even willing to fight, armies don’t advance purely save civilians, especially when facing supply shortages. Now, the Red States will be facing their own supply shortages, but they have plenty of refineries in Oklahoma to fuel trucks and trains to take people to the concentration camps they’ll open about 5 minutes after declaring rebellion/independence. They’ll round up everyone who isn’t a White Christian, yes even the collaborators. The rest of the world will watch this in real time thanks to phone cameras and be powerless to do much about it for however long it takes to restructure the economy and supply the military for an advance into the South and Midwest.  This war will last years. The bad guys will lose because the Blue States have the ports and (you better vote to make sure this stays true) the loyalty of the military. But, that victory will come at great cost. The last two civil conflicts (the Revolution and the Civil War) killed between 2-3% of the population. That would be between ~7-10 million people, and there’s no reason this war wouldn’t come in that range, especially with the Red States executing their own holocaust and people freezing to death or starving due to supply chain interruptions. And that’s just in the US. Around the world, many countries will be facing their own food shortages and famines from the interruption in grain and livestock feed being exported out of the US (America is the number one exporter of Wheat post-Ukraine war, and the number two exporter of animal feed or around 8.9% of global supply).  The Republicans are going to get tens of millions of people killed in and out of America, probably over losing another election. Countless millions will be left to cope with PTSD, battlefield injuries, and respiratory diseases (they come with every war) for the rest of their lives. There will be nowhere to run, and we’ll all have to stand together to end that nightmare as soon as humanly possible.

Australians clueless about their country's most endangered species
Tumblr media
Australia holds an unenviable conservation status: it’s the fourth-worst country in the world for species extinctions and is in the top three for critically endangered animals.
This week’s Federal Budget included a $224 million allocation to help save threatened species – news that coincides with some concerning findings of a new paper authored by University of South Australia (UniSA) researchers.
A study led by UniSA conservation psychologist Dr Elissa Pearson reveals overwhelming public ignorance of Australia’s most threatened species, a factor that is contributing to the extinction crisis of endangered animals.
UniSA researchers, alongside colleagues from Zoos Victoria and Edith Cowan University, polled more than 300 zoo visitors and community members, testing their awareness of seven endangered species at risk of extinction within the next decade.
“More than 90 per cent of those surveyed did not recognise six of the seven species; the exception being the Tasmanian devil,” Dr Pearson says.
The other species were the Leadbeater’s possum, eastern barred bandicoot, helmeted honeyeater, southern corroboree frog, Lord Howe Island (LHI) stick insect, and orange-bellied parrot.

The Journal for Nature Conservation paper outlines a clear link between species recognition, likeability and conservation support, showing that people are far more inclined to donate toward conserving Australia’s iconic koala, kangaroo and wombat populations, despite these not being endangered.
“There are huge gaps in community knowledge regarding native Australian wildlife, with less than eight per cent of people able to correctly name six of seven endangered species when shown photographs.
“Apart from the Tasmanian devil, which 86 per cent of people recognised, the level of familiarity and knowledge of our vulnerable species is limited. Misidentification is also common, particularly the eastern barred bandicoot which is often mistaken for a bilby.”
The most likeable Australian animals – the koala and kangaroo – also reflect the ‘similarity principle’, which suggests that people tend to prefer animals most like humans, and that when only a limited number of species can be conserved, mammals are favoured over other species, regardless of their endangered status.
The helmeted honeyeater, southern corroboree frog and LHI stick insect were consistently the least liked species.
“Apart from the likeability factor, our study showed that being able to recognise species increased people’s willingness to support their conservation, so that is a starting point we need to address.”
Endangered insects are fighting an uphill battle for support, with 85 per cent of people disliking them, putting their survival at most risk. However, this perception could be changed with some clever marketing initiatives, the researchers suggest.
“The LHI stick insect has some exceptional qualities, such as their resilience and survival against all odds, their ability to reproduce without males, their tendency to form large social groups during the day, or even the fact that their foot pads are heart shaped. If people knew these facts the likeability factor would likely shoot up,” Dr Pearson says.

Random but for all the anon that live in the Boston area, what’s it like living there ?/// like mod said, opposite of depressing. Locals will bitch and say it’s the worst but it’s fucking amazing. Sure winter is rough anywhere above the Mason-Dixon. I will say I’ve not been impressed food wise for the most part. Or the lack of bars (not clubs, I just want a bar that’s open past 10pm) outside of the city.
I’m not a native, but I feel like one. I’m a white woman…and yes it is an Anglo area. But all my coworkers are not Anglo. Everyone is from somewhere else. Eastern Europe, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Haiti, Columbia, Guatemala, Morocco. So there is loads of diversity in the city.
I do live in the burbs, but I work downtown and like any major city it will have its streets that are less than desirable to walk down, this is now home to me. I’ve always felt a calling to live here before I moved and it would take a lot to get me to leave. Maybe I’m looking at life through rose colored glasses because of the idyllic area I live and I have family close by so I get to see them on the weekends. But I understand why a certain person wants to be here the most. My area (West of the city) is just 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 for an outdoorsy, kinda athletic person. I love hiking and taking walks in the woods and we have so much conservation area around me. Not to mention some of the best schools in the nation.
I’ll gladly answer any questions about Boston.
For Boston anon! 🧜🏻‍♀️

Gosh 🐤🐤 I've just watched this series about the second wave feminism in America and I am in awe. Well because yesterday I just had an argument with my mom which I still have lots to say but ofc she wouldn't want any of my opinion because she thinks I am fucking useless.
Yeah I've been sad about it but then I am not anymore because all that sadness has become the fuel of my rage but then I don't have any platform or any way to channel it better and it makes me grumpy so I've been eating my feelings away lately and now I am pregnant with all the carbs lol. 🥺😭
But again you know I am raised in very conservative family (my whole nation mostly value conservative value, even they will say we're easterners not from west wild world; as if anything that is not same is so bad esp in this woman value). I am mad, is because arghh I wish I could explain it better but I am trying and english despite years and years dwelling on it, to write something is not as easy because I sound stupid even when I am not that stupid (I wish, but then that's what my parents thought of me since I can even remember, and wondering why I hate them so much but also stuck in here).
God made women to solely purpose on giving birth, and passed down the generation so that mankind will not extinct (also the religion) ofc. Some people are not that religious, but mine is one that zealot esp on my father's side. They're taken pride on becoming poor as long as their faith is strong. I mostly starving from I can even remember but I didn't like eat too much back then (thus I still feel joy and hope) and that's why probably I am the shortest ones now (but now I feel the urges to gulp down anything, human if I can too, kidding) yeah is just the more I read about the world, the more I know about injustice in this godly fucking world they're claimed perfect and bound to last forever.
You know I don't speak of other religion, but mostly abrahamic religion are just so worst to women. Well it's kind a good thing back then in barbaric era (when everyone killing the weak ones and women have no advantage in physical things I reckon) but now, it's like is just the same by saying women are not that fucking smart as man. Well man go to school since forever, I mean back then the thought even woman allowed to read (even in jewish people) is just not good. Woman is not for teaching masses (unless to their children) and like have no power at all because man will take care of you and you don't have to be worry about anything.
Well that's comforting isn't it? But then the reality most man not moses let alone jesus okay, or mohammed that they're good to women (but the last one kinda have so much lust for them also) and when women becoming so dependent or man, it's creating the environment that perfect for abuse. Everytime back then I had argument with my father, he tore down my things saying "I am the one whose buying it so it's fucking mine". Well ofc it's all his cause he's the one who can make money and my mom never really try to get a job even when they both have the same degree.
I don't want to dwell in the past but then all the hopelessness is my life is because of them. I don't want to write that much cause I am in pain right now but if you did listen to my recording, i kinda pretty much saying all of it i guess. Prophet can only be a man, coincidence? Leader is only a man. You know, I don't believe in such thing, I think if women are capable they can do things too (even physically as strong but it's rare) but in the brain and emotions are just the same. Men are not emotional creature so they said but then why many anger issues are coming from men species they're like literally physically abusive just because they have power they choose to hurt the weak so that they feel great about their own insecurities? Fuck them. It's my dad, the example but yeah I am the unlucky subject because I spoke, i shout the injustice I just don't quite and suck it up. I WHINE A LOT BECAUSE I QUESTION THINGS SINCE BACK THEN NOT JUST ACCEPTING IT AS A FACT.
but then I got tired and give up, trying to get some love cause it's fucking lonely (teenage years) so I become so fucking zealots like them when all my peers are jahiliyah (I mean savage) as the normal teen were. I am the fucking abnormalities, I gave up dance as everytime I perfom my dad is giving me passive aggressive things. (Well in islam it's fucking sin, art. Almost all of it unless it's to praise god and god forbid not woman singing, her voice is also fucking sin). Fuck. I was elated and feel so great because I believe I will get rewarded in afterlife but still they don't love me that much, as now they're fucking set me to become so virtuous wife (one day) and my sis hates me. Fuck fuck fuck.
Oh I kinda jealous in christian though, maybe if I were born into one, I will just declare myself to be nun and bride to god but in islam no, the most beautiful thing is to bear as many children as you can and passed down all this nonsense. But I still love to read, and I read another things, heck I LOVE ANIME so much but then I know it's a sin so I kinda like repent everytime I masturbate. I kid you not. And wish god punish me so we're even.
Until it started making no sense, like pleasing your narc father is truly the same with pleasing narc god. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. He hates me because I love beautiful things and exceeds spending is shaytann' habit (even when it's just normal spending, like buying two clothes is much for him cause need I remind you he's from poor background and for him I really cost him too much, yet always makes me another fucking sister). It's like why the fuck is the blame only put on me. This is why I hate the idea of becoming wives but to a man who doesn't even know what becoming a husband is.
Like they make money but also becoming like a bitch because they think it's all his money and he can buy things for his hobby but I can't because it's his money and there's not much money so I never got any. I spend from my nana's money sometimes she gave me and he's mad like every hobby that I like it's waste of time. So why the fuck can I fucking enjoy this life? I can't. And the thought of suicide is on me since my 5th fucking birthday.
Thanks god and your nonsense. If you're gonna burn me in hell you should do the same with my fucking dad because he's making me like this. Fuck I was always feel like a burden when they're the one choose to fucking have children. Oh because I turned out to be not like their minions, chanting every nonsense. But then now I still live in their mercy. Nah starving too most of the times but yeah still have this moldy room at least.
I never had my own room till i was 24. You know they don't fucking care. They make all children and since we're girl we live in 4 meter square room three of us and we're hating each other. No it's just me and the sister that only one year younger. But now my lil sis hates me too cause I am not in the path of God anymore. So yeah fuck this. I live in poverty all the time, but then I dress nice (when back then I had job I admit I kinda being silly) I mean cause my dad never bought me cute dresses when i was just a kid cause there's nothing to spend, it's tight even for food. So i kinda overspend to fill that void that every kid I saw them enjoying back then I don't ever have.
They just promise me it'll be good in afterlife. Well fuck it either cause ofc you can't love same gender is disgusting to them and i wish i had my own beautiful angel for myself so I certainly not want to be part of man made fucking religion. I put the title of this as gloria, but it has nothing to do about her (unless the first paragraph) but she's just like a heroine to me. No one will ever be like that here, maybe. 2024 indonesia is like even worse than 1950 america. But they love it. And i do not complain for someone who loves to be housewife (go for it) but don't mock someone who choose the other part (but they can't). I started to believe that my national tagline is just bunch of bullshit. Like there are only one truth despite all the differences when the truth is always different from people to people.
I wish I had a husband who loves me and pamper me but help me god that he won't bitching about why is it so expensive when they choose to keep me down. Yeah, if only I keep dancing and not pursue my parent's love which fucking impossible anyway, i probably had money for myself and don't have to get hurt by broken promises many men have told me. Is their dreams for me to be someone's else wife and then get abused by someone like my dad. Sorry it's not my fucking dream. In fact i terrified but I do feel lonely and starving that's why i wish someone end me or love me but don't put me in those fucking hell again.
Gloria.
P.S and because the whole nation think is fucking useless if you're woman and not having any child, they keep continuing to make children because they don't want to be fucking useless. So now it's add to whole crazy population like you can literally wiped out 5 times as much as all Australian citizen there and we're still outnumbered the Australian. Yeah that's how much people here but not so many jobs and the rich people, well they're mostly corrupt and live in different universe.
Oh and about that art dreams, well because no money to spend even for make up that's why it's so pathetic back then. Mom never had any make up, and yeah it's costly even to be able to perform but my teacher saw the potential in me. I mean you need a support right like some people even gave their children best music education if they know the children can make something out of it and my dad can't and won't as it's just not align with his virtuous value of mankind, he already think I am a bitch in literal fucking sense just because I love dancing. And now idk i fucking sad and feel fucking hopeless. Go open your doors, well that doors isn't easy esp when you're so old and have no experience at all. I mean being those kind of performers they're well trained since little and yeah idk it's not much money making arts but then i feel happy. (Wish I could learn to paint and make moneh hmm) or write but then I can write is just I don't have the degree and here is important; money and mental problem back then) but then here I can only write something that acceptable to the masses and none of my things are, well that's why I love artwork, you can be yourself and put it to the world to see if you're clever enough to display your messages as not that blunt cause here actually I can get into trouble but well no one here anyway. And it's fucking lonely without her by my side.
I miss you. My gloria.
