Just married ❤️🩵
Modern + actor au 🥺 I was writing a Fanfic about an modern au and drew it based off of that
Tldr: Mizu was a D list male actor until she got roles that pushed her into A. Taigen was a host turned actor that was supposed to marry famous Model Akemi but Mizu took his lead role or something like that which made them rivals. Then they fall in love on set during a fight scene I guess lol
The other is just a screenshot of the show overlayed over it bc there was a meme going around to put screenshots over your drawing so ai can’t steal it from u. Why does it look better low key?? If you don’t stare at it for too long you won’t notice it 😭 Old drawing. This was one of my first times drawing them. I for sure gotten better. I DREW A WHOLE CAR the things I do for them fr

I so dearly wish I could GIF these first 2 season 2 Halo eps but in lieu of that, have my random jumble of thoughts:
SPOILERS, NATURALLY (or spoolrrs since Ais and touch typing on her tablet go together like an Elite and singing karaoke 😋)
Ackerson is deffo evil because he said "ONI" properly one time then spelled it out all the rest. My dudes, the classic Halo: Reach level is NOT "Oh En Eye Sword Base" it is "Oh Nee Sword Base." Enough said. If I saw nothing else from him in these eps, I'd know he was eeevil. 🤷😉
Kai let the red grow out/wash out of her hair. I'm conflicted but she's still mah beautiful bb grl.
Pelletless Vannak was so fun and I approve of his animal documentary obsession, lol!
Sweet mother of pearl, Riz sold me on how much pain she was in, poor bb. 😭 I liked Louis and hope he'll be around in further eps.
I paused the second ep towards the end as soon as Chief said Visegrad relay to blurt out "The Covenant is on Reach!" And then Chief said the line, eee! (I love all Halo games but Reach is my jaaaam, man. 😉 )
Okay, I loved seeing the marines interact with the Spartans and that dinner with Chief and Perez and her family hit a few surefire tropes that had me kicking my feet and squeeing with heart eyes. Of course, I ship it, need you even ask? Ya girl's a fool for love, lol! But again, it was fascinating to see Chief out of his Mjolnir, interacting with Perez and her family. "You're very large." "Yes, ma'am." Which may not be exactly correct but that was the gist and I looooved it!
John and his Cortana stand-in hit me HARD in the feels. 😭
The fact that Ackerson has Cortana in her stunted form locked up in the basement made me raaaaage. I wonder if we're not going to get s1 Cortana back and this will essentially be the Weapon? Could be why they changed her face/appearance, I guess? Her appearance obviously changes through all of the games, true, but I have to say I currently prefer her s1 look more. I'm sure I'll get used to it, though. I want her to remember John, however, so when they meet again, it's a proper reunion. I wonder if they're going to have her be in his helmet ala the game version now or will they make it so that she has to be put back in his head to stabilize him or something? 🤔
I don't know how Makee survived but I can't wait to see how it works out!
I was so happy to see a new Spartan team in Cobalt but their ribbing of Silver, especially saying they have feeeeeelings now and all that didn't make sense to me because THEY were showing waaay more emotion, IMO. I mean, are they not Spartan IIs with emotion dampening pellets themselves or did I miss something?
I get why Chief was pushing Riz so hard because of his fear Silver wouldn't be ready for the upcoming fight but DANG, Chief, she's not going to be great in a fight if she's dead! 💀
One day, I will GIF all of the shirtless scenes. *fist thump* 😇
Lastly, they got the rights to THE THEME, YEAHHHHH, BABY!!!
Okay, enough for now from me. What did you think? Fav moments, ??? moments or the like? 💖💖💖

persona enjoyer alert!!!! i’m so glad to hear that someone i already follow is also into it. i haven’t played p3 yet so this is my first go of it but i’m really enjoying it so far. what’s this game like from the perspective of someone who played one of the other versions?
HIIIII god i'm so excited for you...imagine getting to play p3 for the first time...<333
i'm so glad you're enjoying it thus far...!!! 🥰 it's my beloved game. WELL all of my thoughts on Reload are obviously extremely skewed due to my pure attachment to this game's story and characters, so i can't give a very "objective" comment on... anything... but i'm not finishing this replay of p5 any time soon to put it that wayDBHFJKM
basically what it's like is., its everything to me. heart
i'm nowhere near done with P3R yet obviously (i keep putting it down to rest my wrists or draw stuff hahsahbd) but so far it's been such a treat for me. i'm very happy 🥺
to ME, persona 3 is (and will probably always be) The Peak... nd the remaster is running more or less the same script (i think it's based on p3p's script??? i forgor 💀) just with, yknow, new graphics and voicework and stuff. so it's hard to really complain about it when it's more or less been "persona 3 running on the persona 5 engine" 😭
like that sure is My Game! with extra Unreal Engine Motion Blur (<- LOL)
it's hitting all the beats in the order it should what more can i ask for. the music has been remixed a bit (as always huh) but it's still recognizably homey to me. like even if i keep getting thrown off by changes like "new lotus juice verse about going to bed early" (Iwatodai Dorm) i'm still just vibing along lmao. i cheered out loud when i heard Deep Breath Deep Breath
SO FAR my "complaints" have been pure, yknow, "unreasonable superfan nitpicking", so they aren't actually worthy of being called reasonable critique. it's all shit like "they rearranged the order of shots when remaking this cutscene, and the original sequence was stronger...TO ME"
STUFF THAT NO NEW PLAYER WOULD BE THINKING ABOUT...
and of course neutered Tactics is a no-no. i'm gonna be huffy about that forever but c'est la vie, it's what the franchise has settled on... but as a Certified P3 Tactics Gamer i'm basically obligated to be a lil miffed about this Post-Tactics World we live in. and like cmon man you introduced baton pass but my AI teammates can't even see it...even though the "recommended move" scan logic CAN....!!!
^^^ but this one is ALSO at its core a complaint that new players won't have comparison context for (because the Tactics in P3R is not the Tactics we once had). and . also many newbies will never even rub up against it if they prefer Direct Command to begin with (which lots of people do) so like. who cares . it doesn't ruin the game for me i just dearly miss the Epic Highs And Lows Of P3 Tactics HAHBDS
on the upside, adding more content for party members who didn't have SLinks in the original is Very Good. i'm really very much enjoying those new scenes and it's needed badly. sweet treats for diesel...❤ AND TARTARUS LOOKS SO GOOD HOUAHHH
AND that UI...so shiny.... ough... no i lovie. i really do
like at the end of the day i admittedly could never love P4, and while i did really enjoy P5 (and P5R) it was always "but it's no P3". so asking me for my thoughts on P3R is mostly incoherent nodding and pointing bc its very much My Game reincarnated. i'm glad all my friends have an easier way to play it all gussied up and shiny now so i can finally foist my old rpg upon them... 🥰
peace and love on tatsumi port island.

i have come to ask about your aus for my project (and if i may use them)
this dude fr asked the most so totally normal person ever to drop all their fnaf lore level stuff
um i think you want mostly clive specific stuff right? for him specifically i don't have too too many aus, only stuff hes apart of [pl cartoon, jsko, kind of evil sillies/mirrored world i guess, etc {if u dont feel like working w the one im abt to tell u, i can elaborate on these}] but luckily i do have one clive centered!
so you know that one scene in unwound future where it was clive on the monitor, right?
Tumblr media
okay so basically what if there were 3 main monitors. 2 smaller ones representing shoulder devil and shoulder angel and a big giant one thats just at this point ai that acts like clive. he's kind of if you grab clive and make him even more insane and instead of wanting to destroy london, he wants to destroy everything ever and has no humanity at all.
Tumblr media
heres a ref of sorts i suddenly remembered last second. he can come out of the monitor and has physical form. if ur wondering if he has to be a fox: no, nope, nuh uh! whats cool abt him is that he can take the form of basically any variation of clive! ive been wanting to animate him to a will wood song for the longest time ever and theres a scene that plays in my brain where he glitches the heck out and while doing so he takes the form of different clives from my other aus like the pokemon mystery dungeon au, pl cartoon, etc.
Tumblr media
heres an old drawing based off of multiple different drawings of the original concept bc ive never ever been able to finish any version of that drawing not even this one for whatever reason. the purpose of the smaller shoulder devil and angel is honestly just to support the evil fella 😭😭 and can honestly just be ignored. if ur wondering what happened to him and the other two after the fortress collapsed, erm...let's just say...people weren't able to find them under all the rubble. :] [basically theyre missing and i honestly think hes scheming smth]
Tumblr media
heres the original drawing w him in his computer virus colored glory. if you want even more info and newer art, you can always dm me!

Do you think Proto Freddy and our Freddy are two different Freddys? Idk, considering getting mimicked basically just gives you your opposite personality and makes you evil, the way Freddy operated in GGY in comparison to ruin just seemed...too different. Ruined! Freddy was a being of pure blind and unadulterated violence while GGY! Freddy just...stood there staring until he leapt into action. In the base game sinkhole ending, it was kinda the same thing. He just stood there for a few seconds then lunged at Gregory. Not to mention the physical differences between the two and the fact that Ruined! Freddy has the word "PROTOTYPE" etched to his foot. That was definitely put there for a reason. I just get the feeling that Proto didn't have a set personality, therefore there was nothing there to battle the virus taking over...thus being weirdly vicious unlike our Freddy. It also makes sense that the V.A.N.N.I. network didn't pick up on him because he wasn't a registered entity unlike game Freddy. Adding onto this, Moon probably had the network programmed into him for security purposes just like Roxy's new eyes were and they BOTH saw our Freddy. It just feels weird that not ONE of the animatronics acknowledged Freddy's existence in Ruin, only Cassie. Brain is braining. (sorry, this was long. 😭😭😭)
I like ur theory about GGY ver of Freddy and how the virus network works!! but I actually also have a theory about this!!
the VANNI mask I think reveals a lot about proto Freddy and answers some questions. every other animatronic in ruin still exists and has remnants of their past selves/how they see themselves in the AR world. roxy has her face and chica can still speak.
which makes proto Freddy pointedly disappearing when you put on the mask interesting. my theory (I made around when ruin came out. the original post is somewhere out there) is that animatronics with sentience and AI are shown in the AR world, but animatronics without AI arent.
roxy and chica are still there because they themselves are present. they still have an active ai and personality and are alive in a way. but proto freddy isnt.
which makes me come to the conclusion that proto Freddy doesn't HAVE an AI. which in turn would mean that his AI was taken with Freddys head post princess quest, and now all that's left is the husk of a body that disappears in the AR world because it has no sentience attached to it
so yeah I do think proto Freddy is the same as our freddy. if you rewatch the ruin trailer, you can see in the Freddy scene that he has no prototype on his foot there, but does in the game. I think they added this last second because they made it too clear that freddy is with Gregory and vanessa post princes quest and they needed something to cause discussion and confusion so they were like. yeah prototype on the foot sure.
since proto Freddy can get up and move around it isnt a stretch that maybe he got up and tried to fix himself a bit and found a proto Freddy shell. I dont think the colors + shape of proto Freddy being different matters because the still intact parts of the other glamrocks look different as well and also the colors could be made specifically to look better in ruins dark lighting. so theres no telling
it would explain the differences between GGY freddy and proto Freddy tho. if proto Freddy is our Freddy but with no ai and a violent husk then it would behave different than just our Freddy with a virus!
but that's what I think :)

So there’s this old 80’s show that I’ve recently found called “The Duck Factory”, it’s about a team of people who work on an animated show and the main character moves to Cali to become an animator. The MC is also played by Jim Carrey (but just know that I did not start watching this bcuz I’m a fan of his I started watching bcuz I’m a fan of my babey boy Clarence Gilyard who plays one of the characters) who plays the straight man in the story which I think is a cool break from the wacky characters he usually plays. But this show only has 13 episodes and do you know why?
Because the writing SUCKS
The writing can be sooo bad sometimes 😭 and there’s nothing too bad about the acting, there’s a few times where they don’t let a joke sit, sometimes they a moment goes by too fast, and then there’s the laugh track, like… ugggghhhhhhaksdbdlavr..
This show had such a cool idea, but they completely fumbled the script 😭😭
I was so upset about them kinda messing it up that I’ve decided that this will be my project to improve this script.
But! there are times where they actually handle certain subjects kinda okay, like:
• Assumptions about a women based on the way she dresses
• The way some people view girls who have bloomed early
• M/F friendships (I was so scared about the way they were gonna handle it)
• Computers taking over jobs (though it wasn’t given too much of a serious scene it just a quick line, but with all the stuff happening with AI and writing and such i just figured to include it in the list)
And since I haven’t finished the entire show I don’t know what else they’re talking about, but I guess I was kinda surprised to see these topics come up but I don’t really know why I am..
But anyway, this show has a lot of remake potential and I just wanted to rant about it a little bit, but I think y’all should check out the show (even though I just told y’all it was terrible) to see what I mean.

At first I got to know HnG through TV, then through my classmate's I read all the volumes. I remember the last volume was published when I was in exams. And I cried all night because I didn't want to read END even though I was in love with Hikaru.
Haha, I almost forgot about my exam. I even forgot how it turned out, I think at least I didn't need the extra class. But I couldn't forget about Hikaru. I used to come to the school's computer lab to find out about HnG. I had also played Go several times through Yahoo games. I was not really playing & learning Go, fufufu, but chatting with other fans.
Maybe you've played with me? I remember there is a Fangirl my age from Spain. I tried to speak in English even though I had to open-close the dictionary many times. Unlike me, she preferred Naruto and we discussed these two shounen manga. I give some spoilers because the progress of the story in my country is more advanced.
I also watched HnG anime until the end. I never miss it on TV. You know all the OSTs, both opening and ending are super cool! The scenes of Hikaru crying in the library & in front of Isumi is truly unforgettable, both screaming and sobbing 😭, I wanna hug him and say, "please.. please.. please don't despair…”
After getting stuck on hikaaki's lemon, I immediately stopped. Totally. I was fucking serious. I feel frustrated and hurt that Hikaru and Akira were misunderstood like that. It wasn't until May this year, when my friend reminded me of that old memory, that I became nostalgic.
And then I read many fanfics in fanfiction, ao3, and several personal blogs. But I did it more selectively because I don't want to read hikaaki's lemon anymore. Ugh, it's like a nightmare for me if I remember it again. Well, this time I hate Akari's exploits as a hentai character, even to satisfy pedophiles. Ugh. Save the pure innocent Akari!
I have found some who are quite like me: Akari is the best for Hikaru. Not only because of eastern and especially Japanese culture -although that's one of the reasons- but because Hikaru needs a girl like her. Yup, they really suit each other IMO.
I was looking forward to the continuation of "The Move", "White Stones", "Purpose of the Game", and "Paradigm Shift" on fanfiction.net & ao3 (ups, sorry, actually it turns out so many fanfics about Hikaru/Akari but I can't remember all), but the authors don't seem to have intention to continue. That's okay, I did come too late anyway.. not even there, I chose the practicality of writing on Tumblr, gomen ne.
I think I can enjoy some shounen-ai fanfics. If it's a kind of brotherly love without the desire to own, monopolize, and for physical reasons. Hikaaki's romance drama in this context turned out to be quite fun. So I thought about writing again.
Hmmmm, can I still hope for a sequel? Or maybe there is another kind of drama series based on HnG?

Disco 4.07: ...But to Connect
Tumblr media
Well, that was a terrible episode... JUST KIDDING LOL, I LOVED THIS ONE TOO.
Look, there’s plenty of bad-faith criticism of Discovery out there, and sadly too many good-faith bad takes, and way too much boring pissbaby whining—but there are also plenty of valid complaints to make about this show, and I’ve been making plenty of them myself, on this very blog, for three-and-a-half seasons.
The—let’s say “uneven”—quality to date isn’t exactly a surprise, given its clusterfuck of a production history; the well-documented turmoil and turnover in the writer’s room has had an obvious and undeniable impact on the quality of the narrative. (You could even say they’ve had a long road, getting from there to here.)
Everything about this show—the direction, production design, performances, editing, VFX, music—has always been better than the scripts, but it’s not like the scripts were entirely without potential. In fact, the sheer amount of unrealized potential has always been the most frustrating thing to me about Star Trek: Discovery.
Well, I guess I have to find a new most-frustrating thing (and experto credite, I will), because holy fucking shit, y’all… this is what I’ve been saying Disco could be. It’s still not flawless—and they’ve apparently ditched subtlety as thoroughly as they ditched the 23rd century—but I do. not. care. I’m getting one thousand percent more of what I want from this season than I got from the last three seasons combined, and don’t get me wrong—I liked Season 2, and I really liked Season 3—but Season 4 feels like a completely different show. A much, much, much better show.
Buckle up for mid-season spoilers:
Tumblr media
Sorry Michael, but my cat Nora wouldn’t fuck with that little holo-toy either—based on her reaction to laser pointers, she needs something she can sink her teeth into—literally—once she catches it. If she can’t pretend to sever its spinal cord, my picky little princess is not interested.
I guess “The Measure of a Woman” would have been too on-the-nose as a title for this episode? Jokes aside, I like how they seem to be positioning Zora as a Data-esque character: the AI who’s a sweet, well-meaning nerd, who’s also still learning organic social graces. Also, the problem with her attaining sentience isn’t that she’ll turn malicious, or pursue her own inscrutable cyber-agenda, but that she loves the crew so much she’s making irrational choices to protect them? AAAAAAAAA 😭😭😭
It figures that Dr. Kovich—who wears glasses and a tie in the 32nd century like a full-time Ren Faire weirdo—also uses a QWERTY-ass-looking keyboard on his holo-computer.
Tumblr media
And then he dropped his whole CV in that scene like Michelle Paradise is literally reading this blog? (Ha ha, but also… 🥺👉👈)
Cleveland Booker, I love you like only a lesbian can love a fictional man created by another lesbian, but could you please at least skim The Art of War like, once? If Species 10-C can harness the power of hypergiant stars to—I’m guessing here, based on the themes of this season—accidentally slap entire planets to pieces, there probably isn’t much you can accomplish against them with sheer brute force, my guy. I’m also thinking about the wasp nest on my garage 15 years ago that I was going to ignore until winter (out of laziness), and then one of them stung me on the ear while I was putting my bike away and those fuckers were gone by the weekend. If it’s really a five-minute solution, what’s to lose by asking “Why did you blow up my planet” real quick before trying to kick them in the nuts through subspace?
A real delight to have Phumzile Sitole back as Adira’s old boss, General Ndoye, and in a nifty little hat too! Jonathan Frakes, who directed her previous episode, said in an interview that she’d been planning to quit acting when she booked the gig, but she had such a great time on Disco that she decided to stick with it. So it’s extra wholesome to see her again! I especially loved every time someone proposed violence at the forum and the camera just cut to Ndoye silently nodding like “fuck yeah, blow stuff up.” 😂
President Rillak evaded my expectations once again when Michael suggested she had a personal stake in Earth rejoining the Federation, and instead of hiding behind a bland talking point, Rillak said quite candidly that she was both personally and politically invested. (And it turns out she’s got mommy issues too—take a drink!)
I frickin’ loved how Kovich insisted on… uh-oh, here it comes again… absolute candor when sorting out the issues between Zora and the crew. Emotional honesty: it’s not just a good idea, it’s an overarching narrative theme! (Plus: “We always mean well to ourselves, Captain. The problem is what that means for others.” Ooooof.)
I’m pretty sure that they mentioned Control more times in this episode than in the entirety of Season 3.
Gray and Adira standing up for Zora made me cry happy tears. Say what you will, but I think we’re in good hands with Gen ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha here.
The writers are lucky I don’t mind a little massive amount of didactic speechifying in my science fiction, because for real, I’ve read Peter Watts books that were less transparent about giving every single character an entire TED Talk about every relevant philosophical viewpoint on the table. (Blindsight is still my favourite vampire novel, btw.)
I’m glad nobody except Stamets in full Writer’s Devil’s Advocate mode really entertained Zora’s failsafe solution. “If you stop trusting me, just go ahead and summarily execute me” is uhhhh not really how we treat each other around here, Zora!
Tumblr media
Just as I was starting to get sick of Tarka’s shit, he dropped his motive for attacking the DMA—stealing its power source to leave this universe entirely and find his “““friend”””—and Jesus did I ever pivot fast from “this chaotic-neutral mad scientist isn’t quite as endearing as he thinks he is” to just, like, sobbing in my kitchen. I’d say it hit me out of nowhere, but (a) the score reminded me of Jerry Goldsmith’s Star Trek: First Contact theme, one of my favourite pieces of Star Trek music, and (b) I’ve been 1,000 miles from the love of my life for 18 months now because of this fucking pandemic. Tarka might be the most relatable character on this show for me right now. If he’s telling the truth, I hope he gets what he wants—and if he was lying to manipulate Book, I hope Grudge eats his eyeballs.
Speaking of music, I’m pretty sure the theme that played during Paul and Michael’s overlapping speeches has appeared in this season already—I remember finding it unusual to hear so much non-diagetic piano in Star Trek—and maybe even where it changes into the main Disco theme and the woodwinds come in—but combined with the dialogue (or double monologue or whatever) this time around, it really, really hit me.
I did feel like Michael (and/or Rillak?) could have leaned harder on the point that, if first contact with Species 10-C did go awry, they could immediately deploy Tarka’s destructive solution anyway. I’m sure a lot of the pro-violence faction would have agreed that approaching 10-C with a carrot and a stick that big in their back pocket would be a logical move, right? (I know, I know, that’s not what this episode is about, but it was nagging at me the entire time.)
I guess the conflict over leaving Felix at the prison the other week was foreshadowing for Michael and Book being on opposite sides of the vote here. And once again, I’m pretty firmly on one of the sides—Michael’s, this time—but I also feel like I understand the other side, and how they got to their position both intellectually and emotionally, and even though I don’t agree with those conclusions, even though they make my heart feel heavy and sad… I can’t not respect it.
Also, shoutout to the realism of finding yourself on the other side of that kind of ideological gulf from someone you love. There are no good solutions there; the best you can do, I think, is be completely honest with each other and yourselves. And the worst part about Michael and Book’s situation is that they’re already doing that, and I think it’s already done everything it can. 💔 Additional shoutout to the face journeys of both Sonequa Martin-Green and David Ajala for making me feel like my heart got kicked in the stomach.
Anyway. It cracked me up when they established Zora’s personhood by locating her inner clip show device—so we know she’s at least as sentient as Riker, that’s a start. AND SHE’S JOINING STARFLEET??? THIS IS LIT-ER-AL-LY EVERYTHING I’VE EVER WANTED, OMFGGGG 😭😭😭😭😭😭
…though I guess that means Zora doesn’t need Gray as a permanent therapist, awwww. I can’t say I didn’t see it coming, and it’s a storyline that makes sense for him and Adira, but ohhhhh, that goodbye scene was bittersweet. (I’m glad they’ve figured out a way to write queer characters off this show without killing them, lmao.) And Adira knowing, before Gray even had to break it to them, what he wanted to do, and being whole-heartedly supportive and encouraging, was just unspeakably sweet. I’m like twice Adira’s age; how are they such a role model for me?
Tumblr media
Another thing I wanted, never thought I’d get, and appear to be actually getting in spades? A genuine romance storyline with T’Rina and Saru! And according to his Ready Room interview, it was Doug Jones’s own idea? He picked up on some Sa’Rina ~vibes~ when he read the script—vibes that the writers apparently hadn’t put there on purpose—and mentioned them to Tara Rosling, who saw them too, and they played a little bit of tension in their Season 3 scenes… and then the writers picked it up for Season 4! I love that so, so much.
Tumblr media
I seriously can’t stop laughing at the parallels between Book’s decision to go off with Tarka to destroy the DMA and—spoilers for the Netflix reboot of She-Ra, I guess?—Glimmer choosing to activate the Heart of Etheria at the end of that show’s Season 4. In both cases you have a good-hearted but impulsive character who’s suffered a profound loss and feels a responsibility to stop that from happening again… and tries to do so by unleashing a horrific and destructive power that they don’t understand and can’t control, endangering everyone’s lives and alienating their loved ones. (Also, in both cases, you have me yelling at my TV at 6:30 in the morning.)
Honestly, continuing to parallel Glimmer might be the best outcome for Book: spending the first half of Season 5 in a redemption arc apologizing to Michael (and Grudge) would be better than what feels much more likely for him right now: getting swatted out of space by Species 10-C like—well, like a wasp.
Tumblr media
Sparkly princess feelings aside, the “installation” of the spore drive into Book’s programmable-matter interface was by far one of the coolest “oh shit, we’re in the future-future” moments that Disco 2.0 has done yet. More of that too, please. (Finally, my last @ for Book: if you don’t want people calling your ship a “floating bachelor pad,” the very least you could do is give it a NAME they could use instead.)
I wrote this about last year’s finale:
A lot of people were worried Vance was going to turn out to be evil, but I was more worried he was going to end up making a heroic sacrifice for (and/or inspired by) the Disco crew—and he sort of does, but it’s not his life he sacrifices, it’s peace with the Emerald Chain. If the only path to “survival” is as the fraudulently legitimizing façade of benevolence over a corrupt, capitalistic criminal empire, well… that’s the destruction of everything the Federation has ever stood for anyway.
And that’s, by my count, Star Trek: Discovery’s third consecutive season-ending reminder that our principles and ideals, our better natures, must inform every decision we make—every single one, in war and in peace—because a victory that costs you the ability to look at yourself in the mirror isn’t going to feel like a victory at all.
Well. Not only do they seem to be going 4-for-4 on this (profoundly important and perennially relevant) theme, this year they didn’t even wait for the season finale to have Michael Burnham make a big speech about it.
Does that put the back half of this season in uncharted thematic territory? I guess we have to wait five weeks (ughhhhh) to find out. But according to the trailer I saw after the credits, we’ll at least get to see Michael Burnham in some kind of civilian setting tossing around gambling chips like a total fucking badass… so who knows, it might even be worth the wait.
