Unfortunately yes🤦🏽‍♀️ All I can say is that it’s mostly “fans” cheering this on and actively wanting her to be Nettles because for some reason tan equals brown, Black people are never brown-skinned or can be described as such, therefore Nettles definitely isn’t Black even though she looks like this in canon:

The casting speculation is based on social media follows which haven’t always been the most accurate. I mean people said that Jessica Brown Findlay was going to play Alys based on the fact that she started following some of the cast(and I believe some of the crew). We saw how that turned out🤷🏽‍♀️

There are actually two Black women that I know of who are following some of the cast. Corinna Brown(left) and Karla-Simone Spence(right).

Either would be awesome if they were/are Nettles, but for some odd reason hardly anyone has pointed this out and no one is making(sh!t stirring) Reddit threads or tweeting up a storm and saying that they are Nettles🙃

In the event that Rhianne, a tan woman, who in addition to not being black, up until like two years ago only ever identified as white🙃 is Nettles, well it’s bye-bye HOTD and this racist fandom for me✌🏽Yeah I definitely won’t be watching or supporting the show after all the anti-Black and especially anti-Black women stunts they have pulled.

I for one haven’t forgotten how they lit Laena on fire and tried to make it seem like it was the “feminist” thing to do(thanks Sara Hess and whoever else approved that mess😊) along with turning her into an unloved wife which wasn’t in the book(s) when she was a white woman🙃 Decisions which mind you a lot of the fandom went along with and feverishly approved of for reasons that we won’t get into☺️

The whole eddie thing sucks :( i think fandom / newer fans sometime have a fixation on buck and his character simply because the show gives him way more plots and development opportunities relative to eddie. And if new fans are in it because of s6 like what else are they supposed to do when eddie had all of 4 episode with a plot last year, only 2 of which were connected, and likely his most formative moment of the season for many people was as a support character to buck (crazy that eddie talks about the shooting in 612 but the scene boils down to “eddie is buck’s couch” or some variation of that for most people). Kinda curious if others feel this way but sometimes I think this also extends to eddie’s family too which might be my biggest pet peeve. Like buck’s parents dont care about buck then eddie’s parents must not care about him in the same way which is so wrong like eddies parents suck for various reasons but they do care, maybe just not in the way eddie needs/wants. Or even more simple things like abuela loving buck so much and like not having a single interaction with eddie. And idk eddie’s relationship with his family (including shannon) is probably the most interesting part of his character that hasnt been fully explored in canon yet so its just kinda annoying to read a fic where eddie’s parents are only raging homophobics or only care about chris with no regard for eddie. Anyways sorry for the mini rant lol

...i think fandom would have a fixation on buck regardless, because despite s6 being the way it was, we still have four other seasons where eddie actually got proper plot points and arcs.

oh, and i do agree that it extends to eddie's family—eddie's relationships in general, really, because it's always stuff like "buck is a better dad to chris than eddie!" "buck is actually the favorite of eddie's abuela/tia/etc." "the firefam is more of buck's family than eddie's!" "bobby is only a father-in-law figure to eddie and actually only ever hired him for buck's sake."

(and it's ironic because i cannot remember eddie ever having a single conversation about buck with all of the characters mentioned. lol. it's almost like he's his own person, having relationships that have absolutely nothing to do with buck. shocking, i know.)

and, yeah, the stuff with shannon gets bad, because you have the people who are obsessed with the idea of eddie never actually loving her, so that buck can be his 'first real love' or whatever. these are the same blogs who get upset when eddie speaks positively about his relationship with shannon. it's so, so dumb. and there's absolutely no nuance to be explored with eddie's parents, yeah. it's just 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Honestly, the people complaining about S4 don’t actually seem like Titans or DickxKory fans. They sound like people (under the guise of DK) that are trying to sabotage their actual development and any progress that has been made to possibly see if things will change. Or maybe they’re myopic and so not used to getting what they want, that they don’t recognize when they do? Regardless it’s annoying, weird and counterproductive AF!

Luckily the writers don’t listen to them 🤷🏽‍♀️.

I have had my suspicions for a while about that. Was just talking to my friend about it and I’m thinking a lot of people also don’t like women. In a general sense.

Like thinking that suddenly Dickkory’s dynamic will become Delena’s dynamic is why there’s such an everlasting dissatisfaction.

Delena were so attracted to each other and their love language was violent fights and arguments followed by lots of raunchy sex. And Damon did a lot of things the fandom wants that just isn’t in character for Dick. Dick is not about to be cruel to other women, he’s not gonna be threatening her, and there’s not gonna be violent graphic sex or dv or jealousy and male entitlement.

I’ll never forget in s6 when Damon said he doesn’t want Elena to be happy if it’s not with him. That’s what they want. And that dynamic came from writers who hated women. You have to not like women to write like that. That’s the trade off.

I said a while ago that it felt like some people tried to manifest Kory being hurt by Dick. To have her pining and heart broken over Babs. They wanted her to suffer so much that they imagine it’s happening.

And once you really think about it every complaint about Dick boils down to “he is nice to other women”. Including wanting him to not have any positive relationships with exes and ex flings. Damon wouldn’t give a shit if Bex got stabbed to death but dick was upset Jinx was stabbed to death. That’s not a problem unless you hate women.

Ultimately it being hard for them to believe he loves Kory when he’s not fucking her stems from them themselves not valuing Kory outside of that. It’s also why Jinx has been given all this energy because they assume sex is the only way men show love and affection. But in canon Dick has not had sex with a woman since s1 and that woman is Kory… and he’s in love with her.

Anyway I love their dynamic. I love the softness and that he’s not sexist and Kory isn’t insecure. It’s healthy and mature and that makes sense considering their ages.

There is the most minuscule part of me that still prays you’ll do right by me. That you’ll show up and every thing will be fine.

Yet there’s an extremely disheartening amount that lets me know that despite your words and intentions, it truly doesn’t matter how I feel, what I want, what my intentions are, what effort I put forth… I don’t actually matter to your bigger picture. My feelings are not relevant enough to change the course of your actions. My desires are not yours. My intentions are acknowledged but not reciprocated. And my efforts, while appreciated, are not warranted, truly valued, nor really wanted.

It’s nice to have someone in your corner. I don’t even fault you for accepting my efforts because I didn’t leave you with much of a choice. I don’t fault you for doing your best. I just understand that I want more than what you can give me ( whether by choice or not) and I just have to honestly accept that you don’t want to. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I have to accept that the longer it takes me to let it go, the more pain I inflict on myself in the long run.

It’s not easy. I can give a thousand examples but it all boils down to the fact that I have to accept you for the you you’re showing me rather than the you I believed in. The person you are is who you’ve always been, even in a more authentic way. You told me. You showed me. And my delulu self decided I see you and I still raise you a heart. My heart. I was reckless af.

I really deserved better man. I broke down the very fibers of my heart trying to love you to my fullest capacity. I wasn’t perfect. I fucked up more time than not. I wasn’t healed but loving you was more important to me than I’ll ever be able to express. You actively ignoring all that is beyond me.

i don't know if i've ever talked about this before but as someone who has immense difficulties falling asleep in almost all places, but will be out like a light in the passenger or backseat of car, the epitome of romance to me would be being driven around for a couple hours with no end destination in mind, just so that i can sleep. (yeah yeah i need to deal with my issues i know). so "baby you can sleep while i drive" is a cake fic based on that! pretty light, fluffy, and kinda plotless but oh well that kinda stuff is good practice too

"tonight we lie awake" is actually one of the first fics i started writing for 5sos! i had about 6k down for it, then decided i hated the way i had written most of it but liked the premise enough to rework/redo it. it pretty much boils down to ashton and luke betting malum that they won't be able to spend the nights of the week of their wedding apart bc they're so reliant on each other to fall asleep (yes i also see my sleep issues influencing this one too there's no need to mention it thanks), and michael hotheadedly going fuck you, we so can. some fun last minute wedding shenanigans in there too, although i am pretty much stalled on this one bc i don't really know how to fill up seven consecutive days with a mix of normal coupley routine things and wedding shit, and then also write the nights bc that’s what the fic is technically focused on.

"camera pans in like i’m on the office except this isn’t about me and i also don’t really like the office" is a 5 3+1 of 3 times malum kiss for the cameras and one time they kiss even though there are no cameras around. the idea was based on this kiss cam video from a norwegian awards show where the kiss cam lands on two costars (tarjei and henrik from skam <3) and they just. full on start making out. it's so funny and it just screamed malum for some reason.

Hey, I think that if this is a POC safe space then it’s important to listen to POC opinions that might not always agree with yours. At the moment it feels like you look down on other POC fans who have different opinions. It also does come across as xenophobic (and lowkey racist) when you make generalized statements about another POC culture that you understand primarily through entertainment media.

i totally get listening to differing opinions of other poc, but not when that opinion is “there isn’t any racism in obey me, full stop,” which is what a lot of what i’ve seen boils down to. because that just isn’t true. i also don’t see how pointing out the fact that antiblack racism / colourism is prevalent in a lot of japanese media can be xenophobic? i’m not saying only japan has this issue; i mentioned earlier that it’s present in many nonblack communities, i’m only discussing japan specifically because obey me is an otome game.

i really don’t want it to seem like i’m looking down on some fans of colour. but like, if you try to tell me the hypersexualization of the brown characters doesn’t exist or the general treatment of mammon isn’t racist, then i just can’t agree. we have a fundamental difference in opinion that can’t be solved 🤷🏽‍♀️
