Good morning fellas, can I offer you some "Padawan Anakin being unhinged about his Master" in these trying times?

Being brave makes Anakin sloppy.

Obi-Wan has plans for the whole day— a short meeting with the Council, meditation with Knight Billaba, an outing with Knight Vos— and Anakin pushes him, rushing his Master out the door before the man can even check to see whether his lightsaber is on his belt.

(It’s not, because Anakin had nudged it carefully out of view this morning while Obi-Wan was making breakfast. Out of sight, out of mind— atleast while they’re safely ensconced in the Temple.)

Once he’s sure that Obi-Wan is well on his way, that he’s not turning back for one reason or another, Anakin retrieves the saber with a giddy smile.

He’s got all day with it, this embodiment of his Master’s soul. Anakin can touch it, can hold it close— can cradle it against his body and imagine that he is the one being cradled, being held sweet and safe and away from all harm.

He doesn’t know how long he sits like that, curled around Obi-Wan’s lightsaber, before he spies a small screwdriver from the corner of his eye.

It sits innocently on the low table of their living room, where had sat just yesterday, dismantling and reassembling a mouse droid.

It gives him… ideas.

Namely, that he could deconstruct his Master’s lightsaber. That he could open it up, see inside the durasteel casing around his Master’s heart.

That he could split his Master open, the way Anakin feels split open. That he could lay his guts out and pick him apart, say Oh, this is what makes you tick. What makes you happy, what makes you sad.

What makes you Obi-Wan.

He doesn’t give a second thought as to whether he should do it, knowing only that he wants to, a desire so fierce it aches.

Something in him needs that reassurance.

It’s not enough, holding his Master’s soul.

He needs— he needs to be inside it.

I like to think ganqing have old ppl in love energy, especially with pet names. They'll only call each other something like "love" or "dear" sometimes, in moderation. Also just saying someone's name can be still very meaningful. It might be why i like when fanworks more or less subtly incorporate it as part of their dynamic and development, since they had to stay professional despite being on bad terms at first. Ganyu warming up to Keqing and calling her by the name, instead of Yuheng or Miss Keqing or other title, is so important to me
