Much has been written about the apple scene between Goncharov and Andrey in Scorsese’s seminal Goncharov (1973); essays dive into the tension between the two men, the symbolism of the forbidden fruit, the flashes of vulnerability expertly displayed by both actors.
I cannot claim the same scholarly CV as my fellow film enthusiasts, but I still believe it’s worth noting here that: the knife that Andrey uses to split the apple and share it with Goncharov is the same knife he uses in their final confrontation.
The foreshadowing! Andrey carves the flesh of the apple with love, out of love for Goncharov. At the end, Goncharov says that he’s glad it was Andrey! What is love if not a knife between the ribs of the person you care about the most. If someone had to do it--and they did, Goncharov ensured that through his actions--it was going to be Andrey.
SKK au where they still have their abilities but Dazai accidentally kissed Chuuya when they first met, knocking Chuuya out of gravity manipulation...
Since then Dazai has lied that his ability is activated by kissing and not by touching and Chuuya has never doubted cause Dazai always go in for the kiss as soon as he grabs Chuuya to nullify his ability.
And Dazai threatened the rest of the PM to not to expose him and they had to suffer skk making out during battle in their mafia era.
Then Dazai left PM and they met again as ADA member and PM executive on battle field and Dazai on instinct grabbed Chuuya for a kiss to nullify corruption.
The rest of the ADA be like: why is Dazai kissing the enemy executive?
PM members: Not this shit again!
And Atsushi would later ask Chuuya shyly why does Dazai kiss him to pull him out of his ability and Chuuya in ultra confusion be like 'Cause that's how his ability works?'
Only to find out that Dazai has been lying to his face the whole damn time...

Please appreciate what I do for you with nothing more than a vague recollection from reading the books as a teenager and only recently finding out there was an entire movie made from them, apparently.
Ok, so Muppet AU! Every ability user in canon is a muppet, except for Dazai, who nullifies both abilities and the physical state of being a muppet!
Now that that’s established:
Bram is already kind of a muppet, right?
(Whenever Bram spreads the vampirism, the newly infected muppet just gains a pair of glued-in fangs)
Corruption is just muppet-Chuuya on a string, being swung wildly about like the killer rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Imagine you are a muppet for as long as you can remember, and then one weird human pokes you, and suddenly you are also human for the first time alsksjdjf
Oh and the best part of this AU is Ranpo!!! Because if Fukuzawa convinced Ranpo that he had an ability when he was fifteen, then that means that Fukuzawa simultaneously had to convince a human boy that he was a muppet.
And Ranpo believes this for years.
Ranpo, a human man: “Haha, I have the best ability in the agency! >:D”
Atsushi, a tiger-muppet who has just learned how all this works:
I fell in love with @acre-of-wheat’s tanthamore fic Network Connectivity Issues and I recently just got caught up so I had to draw out some of my favorite scenes to fill the void as I anxiously wait for the next chapter🫶🏼
It’s cute that fyodor calls skk’s bond shallow. I guess ace’s documents about the port mafia’s abilities didn’t include a detailed report about the time in stormbringer where chuuya hung dazai upside down a pole and spins him around. I don’t think fyodor would be able to call their bond shallow if he knew how unhinged and perfectly executed that was without any verbal communication between the two of them.
