Philosophy is to be studied, not for the sake of any definite answers to its questions, since no definite answers can, as a rule, be known to be true, but rather for the sake of the questions themselves; because these questions enlarge our conception of what is possible, enrich our intellectual imagination and diminish the dogmatic assurance which closes the mind against speculation; but above all because, through the greatness of the universe which philosophy contemplates, the mind is also rendered great, and becomes capable of that union with the universe which constitutes its highest good.

Tbh Laudna as a college of spirits bard woulda slapped like just replace Delilah with “a cacophony of ghosts (possibly the other VM effigies) that only she can see and hear”. Hell she could even use Pate as a spell focus which would’ve been great.
While I'm still like "is there...actually any payoff from tying this to Whitestone or could this have been based in Marquet" I do at all times support Pate as a spellcasting focus and I do love College of Spirits. Also, @captainofthetidesbreath sent me a post on Reddit in which someone jokingly suggested that Laudna's new patron be the ghost of Bertrand Bell, but actually Bertrand being the source of stories for a spirits bard works flawlessly.

I feel like as someone who fell off of Critical Role Season 2 hard because of Molly’s death I have some things to say to people who are going through it right now.
It is ok to be upset. There are already people coming out of the woodwork blithely proclaiming how death is a part of D&D, that they’re not upset and you shouldn’t be either. And yeah that feels incredibly dismissive when you’re deep in your feelings about the lost potential of a character you were invested in. Yes, death is a part of the game, but a lot of people are not tuning in to 4+ hours of show to watch meaningless straw people bop each other till one falls down. Some people are tuning in because there are high stakes other than perma death People are tuning in to these shows week after week because they care about the characters and want to see where their story goes. It’s ok to grieve the loss of that potential.
Take a break if you need it. However long that means. if you were really attached to a character, the world is stressful enough already without coming back next Thursday with the potential of having your hopes dashed (be careful with the theories on how your fave could be saved, I got hurt with those). I ended up not watching and just reading fan reactions until I knew it was clear they were not bringing Molly back. Some of you will go back and find that joy in the group again in whatever form it takes. Some might not. That is ok. You’re not less of a person for this not being your thing
After my experience in the last game I could not get back into that season. I can’t even go back and watch the rest of the season after because of what I see as wasted potential so I just joke as if there were only 20 or so episodes.
I got into this season with a hardened heart. Though I do enjoy these characters I have distanced my love for them in a way I didn’t before. I told myself not to get attached to these characters because any one of them could die in a very unsatisfying way, that is the possibility of this show.

Thanks for doing my Vampire request with the Mighty Nein! Now to cover the last of the basic Vampire hcs, can I get Vampire reader meeting the Bells Hell’s please? I’ll probably have more Vampire and non-Vampire hcs in the future given time, but for now would love to see reader bonding with Laudna and finding a bunch of moon related + psychic power control books to help Imogen, and shows Chetney a wood carving they made over 1000 years ago from the wood of a tree that’s now extinct.
Awww!! I can vamp seeing Laudna like “who did this to you?? 🥺”
The Bell’s have seen many things, but this is a whole new level of new.
Troves of treasure, riches, books and other collections that were rare across the continent.
Truth be told, the vampirism doesn’t give them as much of a shock as yours expected. At least it’s a conversation starter
Imogen and Laudna are fascinated by your books, spells and cures for what ails their magic and what can help them get their power back
When you sense the implication that Delilah is still at work you’re thinking “really? That old bird still thinks she can outbeat 1000+ magic?”
The name Bertrand is also mentioned and you recall how the old man amused you, keeping his records in top condition to preserve his stories
Dorian and Chetney are nerding out over the music sheets, carved instruments, and woodcarvings you keep. The garden and orchards are lined with trees long thought gone but you persevered the seeds
Orym admires the small planetarium you’ve made to study the sky’s science, admiring the moon and stars with the group when they take breaks
FCG sees that you keep advanced machinery systems, meant to keep the house cooled, heated and to use for other basic utilities. You offer to create an automaton friend for him but he politely refuses (although he may remember later 👀)

Who gets rezed? Who stays dead? How many new PCs?
Tbh I hope we get at least one permadeath and I don't have a heavy preference as to who it is. I am very attached to Fearne and Orym but I also really love Laudna's backstory and want to get more info on what Delilah's been up to as a warlock patron. But in my heart of hearts I want to see at least one to two new PCs.

There are still some very difficult problems (and very fundamental ones too) to be solved and I won’t begin to write until I have got some sort of a solution for them.

Bertrand Russell – The best answer to fanaticism (16/12/1951) The New York Times
[…] Perhaps the essence of liberal outlook could be summed up in a new decalogue, not intended to replace the old one but only to supplement it. The Ten Commandments that, as a teacher, I should wish to promulgate, might be set forth as follows:
(1) Do not feel absolutely certain of anything.
(2) Do not think it worth while to produce belief by concealing evidence, for the evidence is sure to come to light.
(3) Never try to discourage thinking, for you are sure to succeed.
(4) When you meet with opposition, even if it should be from your husband or your children, endeavour to overcome it by argument and not by authority, for a victory dependent upon authority is unreal and illusory.
(5) Have no respect for the authority of others, for there are always contrary authorities to be found.
(6) Do not use power to suppress opinions you think pernicious, for if you do the opinions will suppress you.
(7) Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.
(8) Find more pleasure in intelligent dissent that in passive agreement, for, if you value intelligence as you should, the former implies a deeper agreement than the latter.
(9) Be scrupulously truthful, even when truth is inconvenient, for it is more inconvenient when you try to conceal it.
(10) Do not feel envious of the happiness of those who live in a fool’s paradise, for only a fool will think that it is happiness.
[HIS] […]

Pets aren’t really a thing I give much thought to with my OCs - not sure why. I know that my original character Bertie has a dog (I remember from my planning, he has a Shiba Inu called Roux).

Since you've recently tagged a couple of posts with your middle school monk oc (whom I am very fond of!), is there any more lore about him you might be able to grace us with? :)
I've not thought up anything further for Bertrand lately, but I do have access to more of my old art and writing again, so maybe I'll see if I can track down the story where he originally appeared and see if there's anything worth sharing!
