OH and let me just take a moment to talk about the Dads hair in SAE. Like--gorgeous??? Love the variety in styles??? I know not all the dads are your original designs but like still, they all look so fantastic in your style. Benji's is so curly and fluffy, Ammon resembling Link's style is wonderful, Leon looks so professional, Linebeck looks so messy and oily like he doesn't have time to wash because he wouldn't and actual clean water and not salt water or monster water would be scarce, Rusl's just perfect because he's Rusl (btw the way you draw him without his headband is *chef's kiss* mwuah), and sweet, sweet Talon looks so normal next to all of them haha

For the WIP ask meme, "Percy Rebels And Shit AU; last year, nodus tollens, outline (2022)"

Ok, so;

Percy Rebels And Shit AU is a collab fic series idea between me and @vivithefolle, set in a No Boy Who Lived AU of Harry Potter, where Harry himself was never born. It's in it's early stages, mostly of planning and brainstorming. But as you can tell by the title, it focuses less on Harry, you know, not existing, and more on the ramifications of Ginny's first year at Hogwarts without him.

As in, nobody with parsletongue hanging around to open the chamber.

We open at the close; the start of the fic is set post this alternate year two, wherein Ginny succumbs, Neville and Ron are memory botched by Lockheart, and Dumbledore is scrambling with his allies to combat the fact there are now two whole voldemorts wandering around.

Our focal character is Percy Weasley, because the main actual premise of this fic outside the like, setting exposition, is that Percy gets disillusioned with the Wizarding World status quo and ends up radicalised by a group of disestablishment-minded individuals - an awkward collection of people from all sides of ww political spectrums only weakly held together by the singular goal of removing the acting government. Some of them are total anarchists, some of them are blood purists, some of them are ww liberal, some of them are statute abolitionists, etc etc.

In a sense, PRAU is a combination of standard HP AU trope ideas (no/wrong boy who lived, voldemort returns early, rebellion against the corrupt ministry, etc) and sort of... twists them 180 to the left. Squints at 'em and interrogates them. Looks at them and says, okay, but what would that actually entail?

But it's not cynical.

The problem i have with most of these AUs is not how edgy they get, though that's kind of the point - a darker take - it's how little faith they have in our protagonists. The Weasley family always gets the short end of the stick, and I don't think that's fair. Me and viv are especially sour on the treatment of Ron, as prominent and loud members of his Defense Squad, lol. The collab part comes in that i'm godawful at writing the kind of... well, almost slice-of-life-esque stuff needed for the non-percy side of things; Viv is the primary writer for Ron's side of the story, while I'm doing Percy. Ron's side of the story is more about the hope, the humanity - sure, Harry might not be here, but he's not the be-all end-all. He's just one guy. There's a whole society of people who wouldn't put up with Voldemort's shit knocking around to lob his head of, you know? Vive la révolution, and all. Just 'cause Harry never existed doesn't mean all hope is lost. Just because Percy starts down a bad path doesn't mean he has to end that way. Just because Lockheart fucked over Ron and Neville doesn't mean they're useless now they've got memory problems - they're people. And where there's people, there's always hope. I don't know. I just don't like how.... pessimistic a lot of WBL/NBL AUs are. It seems antithetical to the point of the whole thing.

obviously the entire outline is unshareable for spoiler reasons, but as for 'last year' and 'nodus tollens';

last year - currently the only actually written part. It contains what will probably end up being the summary on ao3, if/when we get this finished enough to post it;

'Last year, Voldemort returned, in the form of Percy's defence professor. This year, Voldemort returned, in the form of his little sister. And yet, the Ministry does nothing.' When family members die, it can start you down a path there’s no returning from. Percy Weasley knows this better than most.

As for Nodus Tollens....

Nodus Tollens: “The feeling that the plot of your life doesn’t make sense any more.”

In your life, there are many choices you can make. These choices range from what you’ll eat for breakfast that morning, whether you’ll wear black or teal-tinged black or maybe even silver-tinged black that day, whether you’ll re-read your favourite book or find a new one in the library, whether you’ll talk with Mother or go on a mission or, as it stands right now, whether you will live, or whether you will die. Regulus has this choice, and he must make it.

(As you can probably tell, there's A Lot going on here - and a lot that will have to go into it before it's anywhere near ready to share. This'll be a slow one, and likely won't show up properly for a while yet.)

When did you start writing on Tumblr? + Who was your first muse?

2012! i was an edgy and creative kid who thought, hey, what if professor layton's wife was .. a lot more cranky!! ooh. wow. and liked to drink wine, i guess? which made her in practicality an OC with connections to canon characters lmfao. i remember being warmly received though, which was really nice of everyone, even when i went super purple prose-y experimental with it yikes (i don't think i still keep in touch with anyone from this time but im forever grateful for the patience they gave me back then tbh)

Favorite trope?

i think it's really cool when a character dies but they're too mad to let that matter any bit

How do you overcome writer’s block?

overcoming writer's block, i tend to use a reliable workaround for me personally: freewriting. that is, setting a timer for 5 straight minutes and nonstop typing out stream-of-consciousness for the entire time limit, even if 4 of those minutes are just me typing the phrase "i don't know what to type" over and over. no backspacing and no stopping.

this technique's been more effective when i'm handwriting for this, but i'm lazy at times and can't be assed to go fetch paper lol. but since my wpm is ~110ish on my best days, i tend to have this exercise work either way!

sustaining muse is a lot more viable for me though, making sure i'm taking proper maintenance of myself, my needs, and refreshing the media i'm engaging with at the time i'm writing a given character. easier not to burn out if i'm taking preventive and proactive steps

What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them? They love going out and exploring LA! Mia shows him all the good restaurants and good bars. They'll go to the beach at night and have a little picnic and enjoy the surf. Mia isn't much of a reader but she'll cuddle with Angel while he reads! (Sometimes, she'll have him read her to sleep). They workout a lot together! Mia is a very active person so Angel likes to accompany her on runs sometimes. Mia always likes that he can keep up with her Slayer stamina and speed! She's never had a running partner who has a chance to match her pace :') They'll watch movies together too quite a bit! Maybe with a little bit of take out too after a particularly stressful day!

What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them? Angel loves how kind Mia is, how much love she has to give after everything that's happened to her. She's so determined to try and to be a good force in the world when it would be much easier to just give in and be a shitty person. Mia has so much love that she has nowhere to put!!! so she just gives it so freely. I think that's what initially makes him love her so much.

Mia loves how calming Angel is. He's steady and secure, he makes people feel protected. He has his own ways of showing he cares and it just makes Mia grow so fond of him. He worries about people, he loves his friends and is so loyal to them but he keeps it so closely tucked to his heart. To be a special person like that to him feels like a very honored position.

How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.? Mia feeds people, she hovers, she showers them with their favorite things. Takes the time to draw up a bath or pick up their favorite food. She's so good at being what someone needs her to be and she does it out of the utmost love for that person.

Angel is just there. And I don't mean that in a bad way. He's not good with words sometimes, doesn't always know the right things to say but he's been there and he so clearly understands. He helps Mia breathe through it, just sits there with her and lets her cry. As much as his brain is yelling at him, fix it! protect her!, he's learned that with Mia it's much better just to be there and listen so he really tries to do that.

How do they picture their future with their s/o? Married!! Living happily and still doing their work that they believe in. Angel really wants kids with Mia and she really wants to be a mom (and she'd be such a good one) but ya know...vampire. But!! They're able to adopt and in the end they really like the idea of taking in a kiddo. They get Surprised through a series of events TLDR Mia is able to concieve! They end up having a beautiful daughter, Ivy.

Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive? I think it depends on the situation. Angel is used to being in charge and Mia likes that to some extent but also if she chooses to stand her ground about something Angel gives a little push back and then is like "yes, dear". Mia likes the comfort of having things handled for her though in some cases.

Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting? Mia has to cry and yell and have a little temper tantrum sometimes just to get all her feelings out but then she's a very forgiving person after she's chilled. Angel is a little bit more...stubborn? He holds things longer than she does especially if they particularly hurt him. He doesn't really...yell though he just gets...forceful like it's clear he's mad he just doesn't raise his voice. He also seems to have to get up and move around a lot when they fight like he's trying to burn it off.

— Christmas! Or whatever the FF7-universe equivalent would be; there's a certain joy to be had in people spending family time together, in reminding one another just how much you care about them. It's coming together and huddling around a warm fireplace, and sharing gifts with your friends and family. Aerith never had much money growing up, but she always worked to have a gift for her.

Someday, she'd like to have a Christmas with a big group of friends, with a big family. It's a dream of hers!

poppy : what comforts your muse ?

— There are a lot of things that comfort her. A warm blanket on a breezy afternoon, sharing a cup of tea with her friends, having her hand held. One of Aerith's favorite things, when she was still close to Zack, was to walk while holding his hand; close contact like that makes her feel happy. Hugs, kisses to the cheek, cuddling; it's all a reminder that she's there and in the moment, and that she has someone there with her.

Opinion on cover design: Love the cover. those flowers are gorgeous....it kind of looks like the cover for some talented classical musician's stripped down take on some universally recognized pieces. but it's not, it's just oddness instead.

Favourite song: there are SEVERAL contenders on here, but I must go with "Fable Of The Brown Ape" which can be a bit of a jarring pick if you're not expecting it but the story being told here makes me go fucking NUTS like a sad ape roaming around forever seeking his slaughtered companion? THE GROUND SOAKED IN THE MILK OF HUMAN KINDNESS???* also anything which uses the word "serpent" over snake is tailor made for me.

Least favourite song: Nature Boy doesn't do it for me personally, I find the tune & rhythm & even some of the imagery to be a little stressful

Underrated track: ABATTOIR BLUES!!!!!!!!!

Overrated track: The only track off this album that i see ppl even rate at all is usually O Children, but I like it! But there are some spots in the song that make me hesitant to recommend it to Bad Seed newcomers bc I think like a lot of his work might sound rough or unhewn to someone not used to Nick Cave's style if that makes sense? but he's one i never really find myself recommending anyway, so idk. Just very much a "you like it & come to it of your own accord" kind of band, in my personal experience.

Rate: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 some really solid songs on here, especially if you're seeking a more subdued NC&TBS experience

not really. i have had my fair share of strange encounters but not enough to the extent that i believe.

this is a crazy question actually. i've pondered it for a while. is it weird to say that i love the 21st? it's not perfect but it's home.

Felt kinda like mistreatment to be honest.

So I simply want to thank you for your efforts and works here. Although they're shorter than what I usually read or doesn't contain smut as much, they never fail to captivate me.
