...While this is probably dumb, anyone else surprised Tumblr didn't make the fact that the Terror Claws Skeletor figure's wearing what looks like a binder into a meme?
Tumblr media
Like, I mean, given this is both the trans website and the funny skeleton website, I'm genuinely slightly surprised.

Exclusive Look: MOTU's Skeletor 1/6 Scale Disco Variant Figure Unleashed!
Tumblr media
Disco Skeletor joined the 2002 Masters of the Universe relaunch when shelves were over-saturated with repaints of He-Man and Skeletor, and no other supporting characters. With black skin, gold armor, a metallic purple torso, and an orange face, he looked like he was either decked out to look like a carved pumpkin or a dancefloor king from the ’70s. But it was less the color scheme itself that was the issue, and more what it represented to the line at the time. Orange Crush? Mattel bet heavily that kids would mostly go for variants of the lead hero and his main enemy, and instead found shelves clogged with Spin Blade He-Man and Smash Blade Skeletor, who were slight repaints of the first issues but with an added spinning weapon. As no new characters continued to roll out, more scheduled repaints, like Disco Skeletor, joined the pegs, lingering as fans waited for actual new figures. Mattel even started a mail-away promotion encouraging fans to buy extras to get proof of purchase for an exclusive Moss Man (a Beast Man redeco). Aggravated fans at the time didn’t want this gaudy Skeletor so much, but as time went by, weird variants became childhood legends. Mondo Toys is betting at least some of those who grew up annoyed with certain aspects of the 2002 range may feel pangs of nostalgia for this oddball of the line. So now he’s on a 1/6 scale for the first time as a Designer Con exclusive available online this Friday, December 15 at noon central time. Limited to a run of 1,000, this Skeletor includes swap-out Terror Claws and a Disco-sized version of the vintage toy head. He comes packaged in a special glittery box.

Question for the hive mind:
Considering all the armor variations of He-man and Skeletor (i.e. Battle Armor, Thunder Punch, Flying Fists) do you yourself have favorites? Any particular reason?
Bonus question: do you feel some of the versions are better in some situations than others, i.e. 1v1 vs siege warfare
You're asking a practical question like hand-to-hand combat, versus melee, versus siege, but you're gonna get a frivolous answer.
The most practical one would be the Battle Armor since it offers the most coverage and protection.

I like the Terror Claw armor better since it shows his midriff and hints at some underboob

But my favorite is the one that I think is most sexy out of all of them; this one:
Tumblr media
Dragon Blaster
I just love how form fitting it is, with simple elegance without the neon bat symbol on the chest, he's not wearing his belt with the dangly bits so you have an unobstructed view of the insides of his thighs, and that chain wrapped around him is just... Mmm. It works for me!
Dragon Blaster, that's my favorite.

my favorite unofficial names for skeletor variants are: gold variant being called "disco skeletor", and terror claws being called "sports-bra skeletor".

Smugly displaying my loot from correctly naming Dragstor, Terror Claws Skeletor, and the Fright Fighter.
Though the Fright Fighter is your basic dragonfly-esque one-man vehicle, the figures I won are from the later period when variations on the key cast were the norm, as well as action features a bit more advanced than your basic twisting power punch.
The Terror Claws were created by Spikor. In his accompanying minicomic they lasted mere seconds before He-Man punched Skeletor out of them. I'm not sure if Spikor is also responsible for the purple crop top this version of Skeletor wears.
While competing in an annual Eternian race, Theydon stopped to help his friend Doodon, who'd unfortunately fallen into quicksand. Both were captured by Hordak who turned them both into cyborg warriors. Doodon, now known as Extendar, managed to shrug off the brainwashing and returned to help the Heroic Warriors with his extendable limbs "attaining invincibility at his full height," but Theydon (now Dragstor) is forced to serve the Evil Horde by zooming around on his belly wheel.

In all my long life I have never been able to get over Terror Claws Skeletor. This figure is proof positive that Skeletor's crazy. Here we have a wizard skeleton- a SKELETON ladies and gentlemen- who keeps loosing to the Most Powerful Man In The Universe and thinks to himself, mind, gets all the way through the design phase and takes this into battle, he thinks to himself, what I really need to do to beat He-Man is to up my melee game. What I, a skeleton, need to do is to engage a guy with class 100 strength in hand-to-hand. That'll turn things around!
Of course, his previous idea was to have a dragon hatchling sit on his shoulder and spit on He-Man. Not known for thinking things through, Skeletor is.
