Doing some character design studies of old-school BnBH characters from the 90's. I really liked Mike Judge's characters and design style. i wish we carried more of that sensibility into the new series.

As art director, I was able to contribute incidental character designs to the Beavis and Butt-head do the Universe special. Every one was eager to get their characters on screen, and we had several 100's of brand new incidentals in that production.

REJECTED Beavis And Butt-head Title Card Kit - When developing the new Beavis and Butt-head show, we pitched a title card kit based on the original series design, however, Mike felt it important for our new take on B&B to stand out from what was done in the past. The painted card was designed and photoshop and the text kit was designed in flash/animate.

Round 2 of Smart Beavis and Butt-head couch concepts.

I tried to re-imagine the space and push some of the shapes in the room, and the EPs wanted to see a more creative-looking couch. this was marching in the right direction, however, they wanted to see something a bit more grand and throne-esque. so- I went back to the drawing board.

We did a bunch of loose concept sketches throughout the production of Beavis and Butthead Do The Universe. Sometimes we would get some boards and sometimes we would provide angles and concepts for the storyboards to use. Most of my rough concepts that were used to board were picked up by a BG artist to take to clean. -These are a few of my predesign concepts for storyboards.

For the season 2 finale, I did explore quite a few options for the Smart Beavis and Smart Butthead couch gag segment. at first i thought to tie it to the regular B&B couch setup, however, the EPs felt it was an opportunity to do something dif. so I went back to the drawing board. (here are a few on the options we presented) I designed the special sitting pose for Smart B&B as well, naturally using the standard B&B as ref.

For the Beavis and Butt-head s2 “Abduction” episode, we did some predesign sketches for the board team, which really helped to solidify the direction of smart earth.  i would normally do really scrappy sketches first to loosen up some ideas then tie them down a little once we were confident in the direction.  We presented the concept sketches to Mike, Lew and Chris to get feedback, and pivot if there was some specific ideas they would suggest.  for example, the probe room, i thought it would be interesting if it were in the belly of the ship, however the EPs felt it stronger for us to redress the bridge to tie in to something familiar.  we incorporated a lot of curves and rounded corners into smart earth design, taking influence from artists like Moebius and a hint of Futurama.
