Dancing with the Stars Season 31 Week 2: Sick and Tired of Elvis
Yeah, I don't care for Elvis. Outside of a few of his songs (that were always performed better by people other than him), I don't like him. Part of that is due to me being Black and knowing how a lot of Black artists of that time viewed him. I thought the night got way too cheesy. Elvis impersonations always get cringey to me. And finally, I did not need Elvis history lessons. I really didn't. Okay. Now that I got that out of the way, I did enjoy the night of dancing. There was definitely a bit of a week 2 slump in dance quality, but I fully expected it. You wouldn't guess by how the judges were ranting, raving and scoring last night, but we'll get into that as the recap goes on. This was one of the wackiest leaderboards I've seen in a minute.
SN: Alfonso and Tyra really really work well together. I said this last week, but Tyra seems to be way more relaxed and looks like she's having so much more fun
Jessie and Alan- Foxtrot (Score=25)- Yeah no. This dance definitely set the night up for some very strange scores. Was it an improvement over the previous week? Yes. Was it 7 worthy? Absolutely not. Was it four 6s worthy? Not even. Jessie is not a natural dancer at all. That's okay, but I need the judges to score her accordingly. That dance wasn't smooth and she still had mistakes.
Jordin and Brandon- Quickstep (Score=27)- Jordin and Brandon are getting screwed. Putting my bias aside, these two were one of the strongest couples last night. The mistakes that she made were nowhere near as visible or big as the mistakes of so many others. Even those who were scored the same as or higher than her. Jordin had some weird frame issues. It felt a little too loose. She also had a slight mistake in the middle there. But besides those two things, I thought they did a great job and it should've been straight 7s. My hope is that they get to go later next week so that they can actually be scored appropriately. Though Jessie got an inflated score and went first. So my spidey sense are starting to tingle.
Sam and Cheryl- Viennese Waltz (Score=26)- I like Sam well enough and this partnership is pretty cool. I do end up forgetting about them by the end of the night though. I don't find their dances to be all that engaging and Sam isn't the most captivating performer. But, he gave a mostly competent dance. His feet and frame need work.
Shangela and Gleb- Quickstep (Score=28)- Shangela is quite the performer. Every time she goes out on the floor, she lights it up. Like Jordin and Brandon, I feel like these two are getting slightly screwed over. Other than her hold being awkward (Derek said exactly what the issue was with her pushing her neck up instead of pushing her upper body back) and a hiccup in the middle of the dance, it was great. I could've seen this get an 8. And it definitely should've gotten an 8.
Teresa and Pasha- Jive (Score=23)- This was a huge improvement over last week and I am so glad that Teresa got to have a moment where she was victorious. It started out rocky but she was able to pull it together and finish out the performance in a way that she could be proud of. Yeah she was heavy footed and her musicality needed work, but she was on the right path. I hoped she would stick around one more week, as she deserved it in my opinion. But oh well. She went out on a high note and that's all you can ask for at the end of the day.
Daniel and Britt- Jive (Score=29)- Was this dance entertaining? Yes. Was it technically sound? Not really. The judges went way overboard with the praise of this dance. And Bruno took it way far. His feet needed a lot more work, his free arm is still awkward and he did go off time a few times. I'm being tougher than I usually am in week 2, but Bruno said he couldn't find anything wrong (while still giving him an 8, meaning there was something wrong). So I feel like I have to point out the issues. This probably deserved a 26. I want the celebs to get better and blowing smoke up their butts does not help. The judges have been doing that more and more frequently as of late.
Gabby and Val- Viennese Waltz (Score=32)- So I thought this dance was pretty. It was nice. She's got beautiful extensions. She's flexible. I liked it. She was scored too high and I need the judges to point out her legs. She has a case of Bambi legs. She's not super steady on her legs and for the past two weeks, I have seen that problem. I want them to finally tell them about it and stop completely gushing over everything she does. This should've been a 30, max.
Vinny and Koko- Quickstep (Score=27)- In my opinion, this was the biggest improvement of the night from both the celeb and the pro. I think Koko was able to go back to the drawing board and create a much better dance that worked for Vinny. And Vinny performed it a lot better than I was expecting. He was focused but was having a good time. He performs very well. And his frame was very good. I think of all the men that had to be in hold, he was the best. As the dance went on, he loosened up and got better. Now we need to work a bit more on his musicality, his feet and his hands. There were times that he walked his way through the choreo and then out of nowhere, he was dancing dancing. So he has the potential to really do it. And it is coming together. I'm excited to see what he turns into as the season goes on.
Charli and Mark- Quickstep (Score=32)- This was a great dance. Charli is really really good. I think the things that I liked most about the dance was the nuances in choreography that Mark threw in and her personality. Now, Charli did get out of sync with Mark a few times. And when they got in hold, there was something real funky happening. I can't really describe what it was, but her neck and head placement combined with her posture at times was really bothersome. I felt the score was appropriate.
Selma and Sasha- Jive (Score=28)- Selma is a really really good performer. She hit that cartwheel and split like it was nothing. Now, after that split, she kinda got lost a bit. And even though she has MS and it makes some of these dances harder, I would've liked to see just a little more bounce action. I think a 26/27 would have been good.
Cheryl and Louis- Tango (Score=21)- Oh Cheryl. Okay so she went wrong at the beginning and never really found her way back into the dance. She fought to get through it. But man, was it a fight. Nothing went right tbh. I think CAI was right about Cheryl being able to handle more, but I feel like Louis might need to dial it back just a bit and have a happy medium. I want Cheryl to feel comfortable but still feel like she's pushing herself.
Joseph and Alexis- Viennese Waltz (Score=24)- First of all, in case you couldn't watch the show, Alexis from the troupe had to fill in for Daniella due to her positive COVID test. And just a reminder everyone, we are still in a pandemic that is killing thousands everyday. Please keep utilizing your masks (use your best judgment), social distance, hang out outside when you can and get your vaccines, whether it is your first series or your booster. This is still very much a thing. Now Joseph was good out of hold. His arms were so pretty. He's definitely a gentle giant. Now in hold, he turned into Herman Munster. Everything was wrong and that needs definite work. He still surprises me though and I cannot wait until Daniella gets back. Hopefully she's doing okay. And also, Alexis did a great job helping him through this dance.
Heidi and Artem- Foxtrot (Score=28)- Heidi did a much better job this week. She was very smooth. In fact, when they were in hold and started moving across the floor, I thought Heidi was on ice skates. It was that good. Now, her posture was good up until the end of the dance. She started to crumble. I think a lot of that is her confidence. I could see her face change and right when it did, she caved in on herself. She also needs to work on her flexibility. Once she gets those together, Heidi will be a definite threat.
Trevor and Emma- Rumba (Score=30)- Oh boy. Okay. First of all, I hate that we have the showmance couple of the season. The way the judges feel all over themselves for this dance was baffling. The way I guffawed when they started gushing? Y'all would've been entertained. It wasn't a bad dance. He had really nice arms. But the bottom half of his body needs work. He lacked hip action and his feet kinda got a little sticky in certain places during the dance. He also just didn't do that much. Bruno and Derek were talking like this was the best week 2 rumba for a man when Jimmie's rumba in week 2 just last season was much better than this. But they usually start acting like this when it's time for a showmance, so here we go. I'm not happy about this. Also, this should've been a 26.
Wayne and Witney- Jive (Score=32)- To me, this was the best dance of the night. Wayne killed it. Loved the choreo. He had the best handle on the technique of the dance of anyone (though his feet need some more work). It was great.
So that's it. Teresa and Cheryl were the bottom 2. And Teresa was eliminated. I don't agree with that decision as I think her dance this week was stronger than Cheryl in week 1. But that's how the cookie crumbles or whatever. Let me know your thoughts and I will talk to you all soon.

Let’s Talk Dancing with the Stars Blog Post #4
Since The Bachelorette has stopped premiering and both girls seem to have found their happy ending (Gabby with Erich & Rachael with her own self love), I have decided to talk to you guys about another great show…
Dancing with the Stars!
I am such a huge fan of this show, and I was so excited when I found out former Bachelorette Gabby Windey was going to be on this upcoming season. So let me give you the rundown on how Dancing with the Stars works if you haven't watched it yet.
Dancing with the Stars consists of 15 professional dancers and 15 celebrity dancers. The show first premiered on ABC in 2005 and has been a huge hit for 30 seasons now. Out of these professional dancers, some of them come in brand new and some dancers have been there since the show started! Each week, the dancing duos get assigned a specific category of dance (ex: Ramba, Quick step) and follow the theme night that happens every week as well.
This season I want to follow along with you guys and keep you updated on the great dances that these pro/celebrity duos create together! This season consists of:
-Gabby Windey dancing with professional Val Chmerkovskiy
-Charli D’Amelio dancing with professional Mark Ballas
-Heidi D’Amelio dancing with professional Artem Chigvintsev
-Wayne Brady dancing with professional Witney Carson
-Jordin Sparks dancing with professional Brandon Armstrong
-Joseph Baena dancing with professional Daniella Karagach
-Selma Blair dancing with professional Sasha Farber
-Sam Champion dancing with professional Cheryl Burke
-Jessie James Decker dancing with professional Alan Berston
-Trevor Donovan dancing with professional Emma Slater
-Daniel Durant dancing with professional Britt Stewart
-Teresa Giudice dancing with professional Pasha Kovalev
-Vinny Guadagnino dancing with professional Koko Iwasaki
-Cheryl Ladd dancing with professional Louis Van Amstel
-Jason Lewis dancing with professional Peta Murgatroyd
-Shangela dancing with professional Gleb Savchenko
The first episode started with a lot of energy and fun in the ballroom. Host Tyra Banks has been on the show since Season 29 with co-host Alfonso Ribeiro who is a former actor and winner of Season 19 of DWTS. Tyra is the main host on the dance floor while Alfonso is up top of the ballroom with the dancers while they collect their scores from the judges.
Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tomioli, Derek Hough, and head judge Len Goodman are returning judges from past seasons. Carrie Ann Inaba is a Dancer and Choreographer, and Bruno Tomioli is a Film, Music Video, and Theatre Choreographer. Derek Hough is an Emmy winning Choreographer and Six-Time DWTS Champion ,while head judge Len Goodman is a Professional Ballroom Judge. Along with the 0-10 numbers each judge can give, the viewers also have their say in voting to control the ending elimination. Season 31 is now streaming for the first time this year on Disney+.
On premiere week we got to learn the background of all of the celebrity dancers that were featured on this new season. The premiers theme was focused on the celebrities favorite party song to get down to.
Our girl Gabby Windey with partner Val danced the jive to her favorite song “As it Was” by Harry Styles. They ended with the third highest score of 28/40. Not too bad for week one as the judges score everyone pretty low on night one. Linked below will be their jive from night one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsWg8clCqGc
Tik Tok star Charli D’Amelio ended the night in first place after dancing the Cha-Cha with partner Mark Ballas. They danced to “Savage” by Megan Thee Stallion and ended with the top score of the night at 32/40. I will link Charli’s night one winning dance down below!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyV3kZaduwk
In second place was celebrity Actor and Multiple Emmy Award-winning and Grammy Award- nominated Wayne Brady. They received the first “8” of the night from judge Bruno Tomioli! Wayne Brady and partner Witney Carson danced a Cha-Cha to “She’s A Bad Mama Jama” by Carl Carlton. The total judges scored a total of 29/40. Linked down below will be the duo's awesome Cha-Cha!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aDRcNTJi4k
After all 15 couples do their dance and get scored, the show ends with a couple going home on night one. The judges were super tight with scoring on night one with most judges handing out “5’s” for most couples. This was a very low scoring night for most couples! Star Jason Lewis, who is well-known for his role in “Sex and the City” was the first celebrity star who was kicked off the show!
Tune in next week so we can recap week 2 of Dancing with the Stars together!

missing piece, part one. thomas x reader
summary 📰: in which reader is ex-wicked worker with all her memory still intact and once she feels she’s finally gotten away from all that, it comes and pulls her right back in
warning/s 📬: swearing, NOT EDITED UGH
slater’s note 📮: this was originally an original fic on my wattpad but that was years ago but i wanted to bring it back so hi
Tumblr media
“where’s y/n?”
“who’s y/n?”
“his girlfriend.”
“she’s not my girlfriend.”
the newfound safe haven had brought a lot of different anxieties, and the last thing thomas wanted was to be separated from his friends, especially you.
five minutes into sitting at a lunch table with new people and familiar faces of the glade, you were really the only thing on his mind as he searched the other tables looking for your face, listening for your laugh, but he found nothing.
“i didn’t see her get tested.”
“nor did i.”
“maybe she’s with teresa,” minho offered, “i saw her walking through the glass hall with a bunch of doctors. they could be running some extra tests... you know, girl stuff?”
“girl stuff?” frypan’s face screwed up as he looked between minho and winston, his mind not exactly processing what that was supposed to mean.
“i don’t know man, i’m sure she’s fine,” minho shrugged, trying to pry away from the awkwardness that took over as fast as he could.
“well, we can look for her later,” newt gave thomas a comforting look, his hand gripping his shoulder as a reassuring gesture, “right now, you need to relax, you’ve had a long day.”
°•
the cold fluorescent lights gave you a piercing headache as you sat in a practically empty medical hall with a needle up your arm and a comforting hand gripping your shoulder.
you couldn’t actually tell whether or not if it was comforting or rather just forceful so you would stay in place against the cold metal chair.
something about the place was rather odd, cold, and slightly uncomfortable. it wasn’t as scrappy as it should’ve been, it was well put together, well built, well secured, it didn’t make sense.
it resembled WICKED headquarters all too much, especially with how many doctors swarmed around you, gripping, pinching, breaking against your skin, desperate for whatever you had.
“alright, y/n, we’re done with you,” the lady removed the needle before placing a plain colored bandaid over the breakage of skin, small amounts of blood beginning to spill out.
you gave her the best small smile you could give her, placing your hand in your lap, trying to fight to the urge to question every single thing that was going on.
“janson wants to see you, and then you can go.”
you nodded, rubbing your hands together before pausing, eyes slowly raising up before saying ‘what?’ and just as fast you heard his voice.
“miss y/l/n, what a pleasure it is to see you again.”
you got out of the cold chair as fast as possible, almost tripping in the process. you felt your heart pick up as you begun backing away, not knowing where to go or what to do.
“why don’t we have a chat?”
you felt multiple hands grips both your arms as you continued to walk away while still facing him. you know this couldn’t end well.
°•
“you were always such a smart girl, even when you were younger. never so sure about anything unless you did it yourself. you had to know everything if you hadn’t known it already.”
it had taken a lot to hold you down before moving you into one of the interview rooms, handcuffing you to the chair.
“when ava heard we were picking up your section of maze, she was absolutely pleased,” janson paced back and forth before you, a stupid smirk slapped on his face, “more than pleased really. she’s hoping the past three years will have been more than enough punishment to have learned your lesson.”
“i’m not a fucking school girl, janson,” you scoffed, struggling against the metal practically digging into your skin, “what your doing is wrong and those three years only made me realize it even more.”
“oh really?”
“i’m finally past all this, why do you need me?”
janson scoffed, shaking his head before leaning over the table that separated the two of you. he was trying to get a ride out of you, you could just tell by the playfulness that surfaced in the center of his eye, “you think you can just take back all that you did? you were after all the one who created the maze.”
“yes but it wasn’t meant for the torture of young kids, janson. do you have any idea what it’s like in there? what you did?”
“i think it’s more or so what you did.”
“suck my dick,” you tried to get up but the handcuffs were preventing much movement, “i didn’t do anything but create a fucking maze. it was you and the rest of the fools that work for WICKED that twisted it into a death con.”
it’s silent and janson have you look as if asking if you really believed that. you wanted to punch him right in the mouth, make him realize that you weren’t one to fuck with at the moment.
“it seems you care a lot about these people, especially with how much lying you’ve done to protect them...” he sat in the chair across from you, folding his hands as if he was coming to reasoning.
you felt sick, your head slightly turning to the side as you felt something coming on, a catch, but you didn’t know what.
you couldn’t do anything for WICKED anymore, there was nothing left you could give them, and you knew what they wanted, what ava wanted was something more than a silly bunch of maze drawings.
“what do you want?”
“you want to keep your secret, you want to protect friends? you’ll give me what i want.”
you stayed silent.
“i think you know what i want.”
“i don’t.”
“i want your blood.”
“you mean you want to drain me?”
“ava thinks you’re the cure.”
“ava’s a fool.”
“but yet she’s gets what she’s wants, always.”
°•
“you okay?”
“yeah, i just need you- i just need you to- please.”
thomas stared at you, questioningly with his head ducked down close to yours, a look of slight desperation filling his pupils to the brim, wanting to know what was running though your mind.
you wouldn’t be able to answer him if he asked. it already took a lot of you to tel him to meet you in the bathroom hall in private to talk to him without breaking down before the rest of your friends eyes.
janson gave you two options. one, you could sacrifice yourself and give up the supposed cure to ava and not risk anymore young innocent lives, or two, you could be sacrificed but this time, your friends would join you.
you had to decide by the next morning.
the answer was becoming clearer and clearer as minutes went by and the images of innocent teens being strung up and drained for their blood flashed up through your mind, something janson thought to show you just in case you already weren’t convinced of outing yourself.
you felt like you couldn’t breathe, your chest tightening up as you gripped his forearm firmly, trying to steady yourself from passing out or breaking down, but the overwhelming feeling of pain was swallowing you whole.
“what, y/n, what’s wrong?”
“thomas, they’re gonna kill me,” your voice came out strangled and breathless as you look up to him, your eyes beginning to water.
it was beginning to get harder and harder to breathe.
“who?”
“WICKED.”
