Hello! I’m not dead, despite the efforts of various cars at various times. Anyway, I’m not so active in the hc/life series fandom(s) anymore and won’t be sending any more asks, so have an unsent ask from march as a farewell gift. Y’all have a great blog!
-
Little kid Grian is out exploring one day when he finds a little kid like him on the beach, but his new friend has a fish tail and can’t walk! So tiny grian, obviously helps his new fishy friend back to the water.
They remained friends for years until the day Grian got sent away from home. When he came back Scar was nowhere to be seen.
Now, Grian is a grown man and a pirate captain of the SSEvo at that, and there is a sea creature sinking every ship that comes near and drowning every man that gets handsy.
-TeratoTomato, signing off 🫡🍅
Grian's heard a lot of stories about the giant creature: a tail that sparkles deceptively like calm waters, hands with claws longer than your arm or the strength to tear a man in two. It's all a bit far-fetched for Grian's tastes, and if it isn't then he wants nothing to do with the creature.
Fortunately his crew are of a similar opinion, and make sure to keep an ear out for mentions of it, tracking its last known locations. Whatever glory could be gained by hunting the damn thing wouldn't be worth the risk. Grian has far more worthwhile pursuits.
That doesn't stop those less worthwhile pursuits catching up to him. Some of the bounty hunters (paid off by the king to do the work his navy can't - it's almost funny) have caught up with them. He's keeping good control of the situation, but they're outnumbered. The ship has already sustained a major blow, thankfully just above waterline. As good as his crew is, they're overwhelmed.
And then something tears one of the ships in half. Grian can only watch on in awe as sharp razors rise from the ocean, dragging another ship back down with them. He catches a glimpse of wild, twisting brown beneath the waves, hiding the depths of the ocean from view. The final ship splits partially open with a crack that Grian feels in his gut.
Then, just like that, the sea is silent again. Grian's crew carefully put themselves together again, nobody quite sure how to react. They're all holding their breath, waiting for their turn.
Except, instead of down, they're lifted up.
Up, in line with bright green eyes the colour of seaweed, a tanned face with sharp features and scars. Some scars that Grian recognises, in fact.
"Scar?!"
"Grian!" The sea creature cries, cradling Grian's ship tenderly. "There's a hole in your ship, by the way."
Yep. That's... That's definitely Scar alright.

Any scraps of hair headcanons for Finarfin? 👀
-TeratoTomato
sure here you go 😌
he crops his hair in the beginning of WoW so it only barely reaches his shoulders, mostly for practical purposes. wearing a helmet is awkward with long hair and there's not much time or hygiene products to keep it in check
before the war it shone faintly in the dark - the afterglow of the trees. it stops to during the war
his hair colour is something between medium ash and strawberry blonde
doesn't really like complicated braids, only wears them on special occassions
(darker headcanon) in angband au sauron cuts off his hair and coats it in blood before sending to eönwë :)

Since it’s Appreciation Time; your blog is a goldmine.
I’ve always liked feeding and weight gain stuff cuz the people involved always seem so happy about the extra weight instead of [insert various Comments™️ that the average chubby person receives], plus the caretaking aspect of it, but there are not many silm fics for it, and even less fanart of elves not being fishsticks (all bodies types are great but the lack of variety can be a tad underwhelming).
So with all that said, stumbling upon ur blog was a great moment and I love every chubby elf u draw, from imperial Caranthir to training Finrod to Indis & Nerdanel with all their elflings.
Awesome blog.
-TeratoTomato
Oh my GOD you guys I'm in TEARS you are so sweet 😭😭😭
I come from a very judgemental background, it's a miracle i avoided criticism for what I do/what I like🌚
This is like my #1 kink, but honestly, there are many more reasons I love drawing the elves chubby, like there's no one?? Else?? Doing it?? Maybe like 1.5 people? (and I love them for it)
But also representation??? Where???
Nothing is said about elves not being able to gain weight in canon, only that they are very fair, but fat people??? Can be??? Fair???
And again, I'm not telling people how to draw their elves, I love all art, it's just how *I* enjoy drawing them 😌✨
I am not very good with writing though (English is not my 1st), otherwise I'd try fics too
Thank you so much for your sweet words 💖💖

Impulse isn’t entirely sure how he got here.
He knows that some humans mistook him for a horned hybrid and tried to capture him to sell but he was honestly just going along with it out of boredom. A demon could never be restrained by just rope.
But now he’s made friends with a beaten sheep hybrid and a soaking wet blaze hybrid, and he is about to make this group of slavers very sorry as soon as night falls over this wretched realm of so few joys.
-TeratoTomato (Poly Team Zit)
He didn't expect to become so attached. He's not sure what he expected - the other demons always said he was too soft. He can't find people in need of help and not help them.
But, even after destroying the slavers' camp and some casual murder, he finds himself escaping with the hybrids. The blaze hybrid, who calls himself Tango, is fiercely protective of the sheep hybrid (who he calls Zed.) He takes the pair to one of the houses he uses, cleaning the dust off and giving them rooms.
It doesn't take long for him to realise only one of those rooms is being used. He has no problem with it, focused on giving them a peaceful environment to recover in. It doesn't take long for Tango to come out of his shell, but Zed remains quiet, and very easy to startle. Impulse always feels terrible when he makes him jump.
Which is why it's so surprising when one night he wakes up to quiet footsteps in his room. One of his ears pricks up, immediately alert. But it's only Zed, walking with downturned ears and hovering in front of Impulse's bed. Impulse holds up the covers, and Zed crawls under them, cuddling up to Impulse. It doesn't take long for the bed to dip again when Tango joins them, not bothering to ask for permission.
They seem to spend more time in Impulse's bed than not after that. Soon after is when the gentle nudges and kisses start, Zed making soft content noises around Impulse. It's certainly not what Impulse expected when he let himself get caught, but watching Tango bounce around the house, and the bruises healing on Zed's skin - he couldn't imagine anything else.

Grian is a simple fungi fae living a boring life in an old, old forest.
Grian gets humans visitors, he doesn’t kill them out of curiosity and boredom.
They come back with more humans, and build a little village next just beyond the borders of his forest, a place far from any other human settlements.
Fungi Fae Grian now has neighbors, and if he is lucky, they won’t be too terrified when he greets a mustache-having one thats straying close to his borders.
-TeratoTomato
The humans are respectful of his land in a way that others haven't been. Though they cultivate areas for farmland, their waste produce forms big composts for his fungi to grow. They rotate out the fields so they don't kill the land completely, and they replant trees for each one they cut down.
It's fascinating to watch them progress. They don't wander far into the forest, only as far as they need to for resources. Grian enjoys following them, and decides to be kind and leave their chalk markings on the trees untouched.
The mustached one seems younger. He keeps coming closer to the forest, but not seemingly for a specific reason. It's interesting. Grian might even say it seems like he's curious about something.
Well, Grian might as well give him something to be curious about! He tries not to be scary. He doesn't even try any of the Fae tricks he knows! Not that he really... Needs to. This human would fall for every single one - surely the humans should've taught him better? He told Grian his name immediately! They need to give him silver, or something, jeez.
What's more surprising is when the human, Mumbo, keeps coming back only to talk to Grian. Grian has a fun game of making him jump each time, popping up where he least expects it. They'll sit and chat about anything and nothing. Grian learns about the humans in the village from Mumbo (oh he'd get so killed and/or kidnapped by any other fae), Grian tells Mumbo stories of the forest. He even teaches Mumbo about the fauna and what it is! He never lets Mumbo stray too far into the forest, though. He's not sure what the humans would think of that.
Then one night, Mumbo falls asleep as they're chatting. It's growing late, he'd usually have gone back already. Grian's pretty sure it's already too dark for humans to see without assistance.
He picks Mumbo up carefully, the mycelium beneath the ground guiding his way through the darkness and towards the village. He tries to avoid any humans, but one manages to surprise him. In more ways than one.
"Oh, there's Mumbo, thank goodness, we were starting to worry." The human doesn't attack Grian. They don't even accuse him of anything, just ushering Grian into the village. "You must be the supposed Fae he's so interested in. Thanks for bringing him back, he's always been a bit of a spoon like this. I hope he's not caused you any issues."
This human is Iskall (Grian can tell by the missing forearm.) They tell Grian which house is Mumbo's, to put him on the sofa ("He deserves the sore back.") And then he invites Grian to eat, they have some leftovers from dinner.
Grian decides to throw away his fears, accepting the invitation and sitting down with the humans. A lot have already gone to bed for the night, but Iskall introduces him to the ones that haven't. A lot seem very interested in his relationship with Mumbo. Grian isn't sure what to make of that.
Mumbo turns up the next day with a basket of freshly baked goods as a 'sorry', 'thank you' and 'Stress wouldn't let me leave unless I gave it to you.' Grian asks him about the questions the humans had about them.
Mumbo laughs nervously, rubbing the back of his neck, "They, uh, seem to have this impression I have a crush on you."
Grian hums. "And do you?"
"Um, I mean- uh-"
Grian creeps closer. "Because, let's say you do..." He rests a hand on Mumbo's hip. "How would this make you feel?"
"Good! Very good, in fact, um. Yes."
Grian laughs. He guesses he's got to teach Mumbo how to not get kidnapped by the Fae now.

Unhealthy relationship tw, suggestive tw,
Sometimes Grian will ask vampire! Mumbo for compensation for giving him his blood.
Mumbo would say no, but Grian is the only villager that doesn’t run in terror from him and he might’ve gotten a bit too used to human blood to go back to animal blood. So he agrees (so for food, the wolf rolls over).
Grian’s never had a whole lot of power in his life before, but he could get used to having someone kneel for him (he might invest in a silver collar one of these days, too).
-TeratoTomato
He'd make sure the collar is padded, he's not inhumane after all. Not like Mumbo is. He doesn't think he's asking for much from Mumbo, especially since he's providing him such important nutrition.
Mumbo wonders if a collar would make the villagers trust him more... It shows he's under control, right? He'll try it, if it makes Grian happy.
A lot of the things Grian asks of him makes him feel good as well. He doesn't want to lose him.

Going off of the “hermits are their own species” idea from another anon’s ask a while ago
Head of the pack! Xisuma staring down a hermit he found out in the wild, lightly-panicking because he didn’t know hermit-watcher hybrids existed and this one seems very opposed to yielding in any way to a pack leader.
Xisuma stares.
the hermit stares back with all four wings raised defensively.
-TeratoTomato (Grisuma / Polyhermits))
Xisuma has never been one for fighting. He protects his pack as necessary, but he doesn't seek out battles. They don't need territory or wars. It only leads to heartbreak.
He doesn't want to fight this hybrid. But he doesn't know what to say either.
So, he starts with a gentle, "Hello? I won't hurt you." The hermit doesn't move, so Xisuma keeps talking. He explains who is he, who his pack is. He tells the hybrid that he's welcome to stay with them, as long as he does nothing to harm them. They live nearby. Eventually, he has to leave.
The hermit follows for a bit before Xisuma loses track of him. But then the sightings start - glimpses of the hybrid around their area. He never gets too close, simply observing them from a distance. A few of the hermits leave food out for him and find it gone when they turn their backs. Xisuma always tries to talk when he notices him nearby, simply explaining what he's doing. Though a few of the hermits whisper about their mysterious guest, it's nothing but innocent curiosity. They don't bother him.
It's a few months before the hermit appears in front of Xisuma, leaping down from a tree and making him jump. And says, without an introduction, "I want to stay."
Xisuma smiles, and welcomes him in. He can stay in X's base until he's settled - X rarely uses the bed as it is. And though he probably doesn't need the official tour, X will give him one anyway. He doesn't need to introduce himself to the other hermits until he's ready.
Xisuma hopes he's ready soon. He wants to see Grian as part of his pack, loved as family, hybrid or not.

Grian is really thin and bony under his sweater. The hermits don’t suspect anything until an unfortunate “incident” (sideeyes scar) with water balloons, in which the avian’s sopping wet sweater is taken off immediately leaving grian in his undershirt, none the wiser to what he has revealed.
Cue the hermits researching avian health and finding that their resident bird is supposed to be far more plump than he currently is.
-TeratoTomato
They start off slow, giving him food to snack on, in front of him, offer to cook meals for him, but not as often to make it obvious and to make sure he won’t get sick from overeating

Grian is a horrifically scarred siren taking a simple nap in a little dark cave he found. Having had some of his evolutionary features ripped off in some way, hunting took more energy than it usually would and he was dead to the world while napping.
Unknown to the sleeping siren, a pod of mer are migrating nearby and they happen upon his little, dark cave.
The hermits aren’t sure what exactly happened to this poor merman, but Xisuma had already started motherhenning at first glance, so the rest of the pod went along. By the time they’re done the poor mer will be all shiny again! No more grime and dried blood! Although nobody is quite sure why he has so many sharp bits on his tail, maybe for decoration?
ft. Grian lost so many of his siren bits that merfolk can’t tell he’s a siren anymore and he’s having a bit of an existential crisis about it
-TeratoTomato (polyhermits)
They're all so loving and caring and Grian hates living with the knowledge they're only like that because they don't know. Xisuma introduces him to the members of the pod, letting him know he can stay as long as he wants! And it is nice. It's frustratingly nice. It's frustratingly nice. He's clean, he's got a good supply of food. They're even teaching him how to hunt better - he never realised how many tricks he was missing because he was so used to his siren abilities!
The guilt eats away at him until he can't stand it anymore. So he admits it. He explains that he's actually a siren, waiting for them to kick him out. He hopes, at least, he'd been helpful enough they wouldn't outright attack him. But he just can't lie to them anymore!
Some of the hermits are wary, but nobody attacks him. They don't even tell him to leave! They discuss it as a group, before telling Grian he's very welcome with them - as long as he poses no danger to them. And Grian never would! The hermits are family. They look after each other.
And, with time, they teach him to love himself again too.

god of the sun! Grian and goddess of the moon! Pearl have been fighting over who gets to give romantic favor to a pirate ship of human mortals that gained their shared romantic interest.
their half-brother, Jimmy god of the shallows (a contrast to his other half-sister, goddess of the deep), doesn’t have the heart to tell them he gave romantic favor to a fiery member of the crew ages ago (of course, if only his elder siblings weren’t so prideful, then they could all pitch in, he was fine with sharing).
-TeratoTomato (established polyhermits + god trio (no incest tho))
They've watched over the ship for a long time, blessing it with favourable conditions as it travels across the sea. Grian burns through thick fogs, whilst Pearl ensures she shines bright to light the night hours. The humans are all so nice, how couldn't somebody fall in love!
They eventually realise their half-brother has succeeded where they didn't when they one day find him lounging around with one of the humans - Tango. They're jealous, but not cruel enough to try and break them up.
Instead, they finally let Jimmy help and listen to his advice! These mortals don't like grand displays of affection, they don't need to literally move the seas and skies for them. They want things that are soft and tender. That's where Grian and Pearl should start!
Until then, though, he's going to continue enjoying his time with Tango.

Grian’s love language is gift-giving, a common aspect of being an avian.
He is not used people actually treasuring the lovely-looking but ultimately worthless trinkets he gives them. He continues to give anyway, even knowing how they’re thrown away afterwards.
Then Mumbo enters the scene, and oh boy does he build a storage room just for his gifts from Grian, even going as far as to make a new one every season once they’re both on hermitcraft.
ft. Acts of Service love language Mumbo
-TeratoTomato
Mumbo even tries to reciprocate, buying small things he thinks Grian will like. He's not the best at it, but Grian appreciates the effort either way. Mumbo tries to help him pick gifts for other people too, sometimes!
Grian just likes to see Mumbo using the gifts he buys. Sure, maybe he bought one or two prank ones, but Mumbo treasures those all the same. They have good memories attached to them! Memories of shared laughter and smiles.

Grian is in love!
He is not supposed to be, at least, not with a bat elytrian instead of another avian elytrian, but he and Mumbo love each other very much and fuzzyness in place of feathers isn’t nearly as bad as his flock made it sound.
His old flock, that is. Because obviously the answer to this whole “forbidden romance” dilemma is “set fire to things and fly for the great beyond”
Now he just has to convince Mumbo.
-TeratoTomato
Grian is already dedicated to his cause. If his old flock can't accept him then he'll find a new one! It's that easy.
Mumbo just worries. He doesn't want Grian to make a rash decision and throw so much away for him! Mumbo is just... A guy. Grian has a flock that cares about him and loves him, if he does this then he'll only have Mumbo. In Grian's eyes, though, his flock doesn't care about him if they won't accept who he loves.
Mumbo is smart and his wings are beautiful and his fuzz is so soft and nice to touch! If this is what he has to do in order to be with him, then he will.

Avian Grian fresh into adulthood thinking Dragon-Hybrid Scar is just a weird-looking type of bird, maybe a subspecies of Turkey vulture.
And Scar just keeping the charade going for as long as possible to see how long it takes Grian to notice his “tough feathers” are scales.
They fall in love along the way, but Scar never quite lets Grian live it down
-TeratoTomato
He does enjoy calling Grian 'bird brained' just to see him blush and protest the nickname. Grian never takes any real offense to it, though. Sure, he was embarrassed at making such a stupid mistake, but he can laugh at it now. It makes a fun story for how they first met!

*nudges bucket towards you* if you have any scraps of Cub headcanons, feel free to donate to the scraps bucket
-TeratoTomato
Cub often comes off as aloof and distant. He enjoys his pranks, but outsiders wouldn't look at him and expect him to melt the way he does at the slightest affection.
Because he does.
Maybe he's been touch starved for some time, but any contact distracts his thoughts instantly. He could lie in someone's arms forever. Light touches against his wrist, somebody nuzzling his neck, somebody wrapping their arms around his waist...
He's just a sucker for it. Who can blame him?

The first time Xisuma found an anonymous love letter in his locker, he thought it was a joke and was fully prepared to throw it out after reading some sappy pinterest lines on paper.
It wasn’t generic pinterest lines.
The letter was full of things about him that were spoken about in such a loving and affectionate manner that X almost teared up in public.
So he tries to track the writer down, obviously, but apparently word spread and another letter was found, this one being a perfect parallel to the last one in that the writer bashed themselves in every possible way, from looks to personality to family history, to a personality disorder, all in effort to say “don’t look for me”.
Xisuma still wanted to find them.
Meanwhile; Wels is having a very stressful weak.
-TeratoTomato
Xisuma doesn't understand why somebody would do something so heartfelt whilst refusing to take credit. Why tease him with something and try to snatch it away? Why do they think so lowly of himself and Xisuma that they think X can't see past some flaws?
No. If anything, he's even more determined to find the person that left the note. There's only so many people that could've left a letter in his locker. He needs to at least thank them.
So he dedicates himself to his search even more. Asking around, trying to determine who could be near enough to leave those notes.
In the end, he catches Wels red handed, in the middle of writing a third note. Xisuma is surprised, but he'd planned ahead. He lays out all of his own flaws, and then he sets out all the things he loves about Wels. How much he loves to help out, his singing, his sense of humour and pranks.
Neither of them are perfect, but that's okay! But Xisuma doesn't want Wels to give up on them before they've even started. He deserves a chance, they deserve a chance.
Wels is terrified but... He was brave enough to leave that letter. Maybe it's time to take a chance for himself, too.

For the pirate theme: The hermitcraft crew is known for all of the crew members being some type of non-human. Among them isn’t a single human and the crew feels safer than ever because of that.
Except their captain, Xisuma, is human.
He didn’t mean to hide it. It just never came up, and then more non-humans joined his crew, then some old members, humans with bigotry, had to be…disposed of. Before he knew it the entire crew was nonhuman and they had assume he was too since his mask was “ominous” (he painted it pink for an entire year once).
So, in fear of awkwardness and losing trust, he just changes the subject and doesn’t correct the others. As far as his hermits know, he is a nonhuman like them.
This lie holds up for years, before X gets injured Bad and suddenly, the hermits have to deal with the fact that their strong captain is a human man with fragile bones and easily cut skin.
-TeratoTomato (polyhermits either established or endgame, could go either way)
Xisuma feared the hermits would want to be rid of him. He'd understand if they held mutiny after finding he's the very thing that hurt so many of them.
Of course, being the derp he is, he doesn't realise that their panicked attempts to keep him alive suggest this is not the case. At least he can blame that one on being delirious. He's half-conscious on bedrest for some time - it's a good job he trained his crew so well.
The first time the topic comes up, surprisingly, is Keralis sitting with him holding a book about medicine and asking what's true or not. Xisuma is nowhere near with it enough to think about that, so just does his best to answer. They splint the arm that was broken, can't do much for his ribs. He thinks they've stitched the worst wounds closed too.
The next time the topic comes up, it's with Doc, Cleo and Hypno. And he tells them he gets it. He'll relinquish the title of captain without a fight, he just asks they drop him at a port instead of outright killing him. To which Cleo splutters as she points out they would not have put that much work into keeping him alive if they just planned to kill him after.
They aren't there to ask him to step down. Their main priority is clearing the air, making sure Xisuma is in fact human and figuring out what that means for running the ship. The answer to that is surprisingly little. He's not going to be on the frontline of battle now, whether he likes it or not. But they like him as their captain. Being human doesn't change that.
And it's a good job they all love each other, because then Hypno gives him his physical therapy exercises. X jokes he'd stand down himself if it means he avoids them. Hypno politely replies he'd have to do them regardless.
