OF COURSE I DO .. it's the most fun a fella can have these days :)c I'm not super involved in the self-ship community, but I support it fully and indulge every once in a while. (If I leave anybody out I'm sorry, !)

@nagumoan always and forever will be attached to Jugram (BLEACH) or Shion's (JGKRK) image to me. I don't even know who Shion is but I do know he and Loni are happily married. In fact I was there for their wedding and caught their bouquet.

@hopefulstarfire I don't know this man personally but GUZMA (pokemon) for sure. That's their stinky man 😤🙌🏼 Kenz and I have known each other since teenagehood so I could list any and all their hubbies if I so felt inclined.

OH BOY~ *cracks knuckles* I am gonna skip a few of them due to being answered here, so they'll be crossed out, and I'll stick a cut in after the first to save everyone's dashes (because hi, I ramble).

1: Why do you like or dislike this character?

I fell for him at first sight; the first time I flipped through a friend's game guide while he was approaching Nibelheim, I saw Vincent's picture and said "we're getting him, right? because i love him," and I pulled an all-nighter to get him in my party during a playthrough of my own, lol. At first, it was the aesthetic, but then you find that there's so much more to his character. He's not a melodramatic brooding vampire - he's a former Turk with regrets, who was shot (and killed, depending on your interpretation), experimented on, given immortality, and wanted to sleep away the rest of his years to atone. He cares so deeply, but has been hurt so he keeps it to himself. He's a loner, but enjoys the company of his friends/found family. He may look frightening and cold, but the looks hide a warm, sensitive, caring soul, someone that can be trusted and depended upon even if he says at first "I want no part of this," because he's compassionate. He's there for others.

He's a deep, multidimensional person that deserves so much better than what he was given in life at first, and deserves to be cared for, loved, and to live freely; he has atoned for what happened, and for so much more.

I love him.

2: Favorite canon thing about this character?

3: Least favorite canon thing about this character?

I don't like that out of everyone in the VII group, we know the least about his past. He was in the Turks, he was a bodyguard for those involved in the Jenova Project, he had a crush on Lucrecia, his father was Grimoire Valentine… and that's it. I know part of that is due to him being made an optional character due to time constraints, but man. Even Dirge only went into his Turk past while working at Shinra Mansion.

4: If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I want to read his life story; give me a novel about Vincent Valentine (lord knows I've written enough about him, lol).

5: What’s the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

The stereotypical answer would be either REDEMPTION or The Nightmare Begins; for me, a song that comes to mind is The Cure's 'Burn,' from The Crow.

6: What's something you have in common with this character?

Quiet personalities that take time to warm up to others, overthinking things, and determination. Also, neither of us look our true ages.

7: What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

8: What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you don't like?

9: Could you be roommates with this character?

I think so; we'd know to give each other space until we're comfortable enough, and would be fine with spending time together in quiet company.

10: Could you be best friends with this character?

Probably, yes.

Again, possibly? I'd go out with him, but I'd see us becoming close friends more than anything.

12: What's a headcanon you have for this character?

He enjoys card games; though he tends to politely decline at first when invited into a game, Vincent will join in eventually, and just might end up the winner. He has an excellent poker face.

13: What’s an emoji, an emoticon and/or any symbol that reminds you of this character or you think the character would use a lot?

Either a coffin (because let him sleep) or a solemn face. The eyeroll/annoyed face is when Yuffie blows up his phone.

14: Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

Please put this man in corsets/a corset vest. He has the perfect figure for it, and they'd look so good on him (I'm not biased lol, but uh, a corset is part of his work uniform in the casino AU I am forever writing little scenarios for while I work on the actual longfic).

15: What’s your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn’t matter if it’s canon or not.)

Vincent/Reilena; yes it's my canon/oc ship, and I love them dearly.

16: What’s your least favorite ship for this character?

Romantically? Yuffentine. Never saw the appeal to it; age difference aside, their personalities are so radically opposite of each other, I don't see it working out at all. Hell, their friendship took time, and even then Vincent still gets tired of her antics (though he knows she means well). Though to be fair, I also headcanon Yuffie as asexual, so I don't ship her romantically with anyone.

17: What’s a ship for this character you don’t hate but it’s not your favorite that you’re fine with?

Valenwind; it's been a longtime brOTP of mine. Also, VinVeld with the more I've seen of it.

18: How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

His friendship with Reeve; I like their banter early on in DoC, especially Vincent's quip about Reeve's outfit. Also, his concern over Tifa in OG is sweet and helps show his compassion - it's another pair that I don't ship romantically, but platonically.

Also, I can absolutely see him and Shalua talking and bonding over Lucrecia's research. SHALUA DESERVED BETTER, DAMMIT.

19: How about a relationship they have in canon that you don’t like?

If this was me years ago, I would've said Lucrecia without hesitation. Now? …I don't know. Perhaps the eventual friendship with Shelke, because it's written in such a rushed and creepy manner.

20: Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn’t matter?

I could see him and Cloud being good friends down the line; I don't ship Strifentine romantically, but they'd be a brOTP over time, sure. Also him and Barret becoming friends is a fun possibility, too; John becoming Vincent's hype man during Matt's VA announcement helped, XD

21: If you’re a fic writer and have written for this character, what’s your favorite thing to do when you’re writing for this character? What’s something you don’t like?

GIVING HIM HIS HAPPINESS, lol; I like showing his warmth and humanity, giving him reasons to smile and let his guard down, and just… be. Letting his actual personality show when he's comfortable, and getting into that vulnerability.

Something I don't like doing when I write for Vincent? Reaching into his mind and tormenting him, making him relive his worst nightmares and 'what-if' moments; I know it's character growth, but dear god, he's gone through enough, fffffff.

22: If you’re a fic reader, what’s something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don’t like?

Found family - if Advent Children proved anything, it's that this group is close no matter the physical distance. Also, Uncle Vince is adorable.

Not much of a fan of him being portrayed as a weakling.

23: Favorite picture of this character?

I HAVE WAY TOO MANY, UH...

24: What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

Pretty much a given/expected, but I don't care: D from Vampire Hunter D, and Testament from Guilty Gear. D is more Vincent in the OG and through AC, while Testament (especially Strive!Testament) is more AC through Dirge and post-canon, personality-wise.

25: What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

Then: I love him (based purely on his looks and entrance), but I thought he was a little too cold and emotionless at first, and wanted to get to know more about just why he was so "......" over damn near everything.

Now: I love him, and he deserves nothing but happiness and good things, because he has gone through more hell than anyone else ever should or needs to in one lifetime.

26: FREEBIE QUESTION!!

Oh man, first date... without counting the Gold Saucer, since that was more of an impromptu one...

Vincent would go the typical 'first date' route and take Reilena out to dinner. Tifa would try suggesting they just hit up the Seventh Heaven, Vincent says "no" because he knows she and the others would be peeking in on them, but relents and says that maybe they'll stop there for drinks later while making reservations elsewhere. Depending on the time of year, it might be an outdoor place, otherwise they'd get a booth/table in a corner for privacy, to let them both talk and enjoy each other's company.

There would be a definite "...oh~" moment for both of them, since it'd be a nicer place, and this would be one of the first times they've seen each other dressed up. Sir, is that a little flush in your cheeks~? And yes, he would bring her flowers, because he remembered Aerith's advice.

It would be a late night, and depending on how close the chosen restaurant is to Reilena's place, Vincent would walk her home (because he is a gentleman and wants to be sure she's safe), quiet laughter because they don't really want to end the night once they're at the door...

...and then they both lean in at the same time for a mutual good-night kiss. Does it deepen after a few seconds? Yes it does ♥

Does she invite him in to stay the night~?

(and it's a good thing Reilena silenced her phone during the date, as the next morning when she looks at it, there's texts from Tifa asking for 'all the saucy details~')

You know what I can't get enough of? Speculation about what the fictional novel Proud Immortal Demon Way says about its fictional author. Because it would be completely possible to make a story like this without that connection. I'm not sure I've read any other transmigration story where the author was a character, so just that addition adds a lot of interesting texture to the situation even without getting deep in the author's head, but it's so interesting how deep I can speculate in so many directions if I think about getting in his head.

And oh man, I could talk for AGES about how Shang Qinghua and his iconic protagonist reflect each other, but a lot of people have written about that already! Including in the medium of fic, which is my favorite way to consume that kind of crunch. So let's talk about familial neglect and mistreatment and the author's favorite character.

Honestly, when I look at how iconic this ship is, I'm astonished there aren't more hit novels where the author gets yeeted into their own book and has to navigate platonic or romantic relationships with their own characters. A lot of the parallels between Shang Qinghua and Luo Binghe are about them being alike in ugly and vulnerable ways, ways I don't think either of them likes about themselves, and regarding aspects of their personalities that I don't think they'd be happy discussing period. Like, Binghe very much hates himself, that's right there on the page. And Shang Qinghua is a ridiculous character, he's very funny, but he's also not stupid. He's very aware of who he is and what he is, and makes a decision to behave the ways he does. I'm typing this up because I was scrolling through an old chat looking for something and tripped across a conversation about shang qinghua and fawn trauma response.

He knows he does this thing! He has an easy opening to turbokill Mobei-jun while he's unconscious and decides to go the route of begging for his life and trying to ingratiate himself after Mobei-jun wakes up instead, which is a much trickier process. He says it himself, that Mobei-jun is his ideal, that he embodies everything Shang Qinghua wants to be, that etc. And that's hilarious and all, especially in light of the eventual romance and the clownery it takes to get there, but in classic svsss fashion, it also becomes a lot sadder when you add up all the pieces and see everything Shang Qinghua hates about himself.

In some ways he's an even more avoidant narrator than Shen Qingqiu, he deflects and jokes like a motherfucker, so it really is a matter of assembling all the pieces and seeing where there are gaps. But what really underscored the connection for me was Mobei-jun's reaction to parental neglect. Because that's what pushed Shang Qinghua into being an author in the first place, his parents divorced and remarried and kinda just.... forgot about him.

Mobei-jun's dad doesn't exactly do that, but he is operating without a mom in the picture, and rather than remarrying, he just chooses to ignore the thing where his shitty brother is persistently trying to kill his son. That really sucks! But Mobei-jun never shows the smallest hint of weakness or vulnerability over this, even when it would have really helped to use his words, like 'hi my uncle is coming to kill me and i trust you to protect me.' He's everything cool, aloof, arrogant, proud, all a bunch of adjectives that really do not apply to Shang Qinghua. Mobei-jun honestly looks like a boring character if you just stick to the main story, because he's so self-contained and controlled. Compare and contrast to Shang Qinghua, who accidentally outs himself as a transmigrator like two minutes after showing up and proceeds to be hilarious for the rest of the book.

(Brief aside to say that I don't think Mobei-jun is necessarily a happier or healthier person for all of this, lmao. The conversation that fawn reaction thing came from was talking about freeze (tee hee) versus fawn in response to threats or stressful situations. But that goes along with the svsss theme of people used to engaging with this universe as a fictional property coming to terms with the depth and complexity of other people's emotions and not just seeing them as simplistic not-real characters in a book)

(Additionally, this makes the ship hilarious as a take on 'opposites attract,' but also it gives me actual Emotions that Shang Qinghua's ideal who he wishes he could be, purely incidentally, he is able to value and love Shang Qinghua in a way that Shang Qinghua can't and doesn't seem to totally understand)

And what's very interesting here. Is that Shang Qinghua made these two characters, Luo Binghe and Mobei-jun. His protagonist ultimately reflects a lot of his own vulnerabilities and insecurities (secretly and quietly in pidw, much more.... overtly in svsss), and Mobei-jun corrects for his vulnerabilities and insecurities. He's the person Shang Qinghua wishes he could be, which is basically... the opposite of Shang Qinghua, to an almost comical degree. And he then gives Mobei-jun the VERY BEST plot armor he can devise. It's hard for a male character to exist near a stallion protagonist without getting swept up in rivalries/suspicions/etc and getting killed by the protagonist, but he makes sure that his favorite character is safe from these things. He's protecting the character he wishes he could be from the character whose faults most reflect his own. That is very sweet and weird and sad, and that's very reflective of the svsss experience, I think.

off topic but also on topic its so clear that the genshin/star rail (saying both cause theres a large overlap) have no capability of thinking.

there are so many fics where *reader* somehow becomes a (sex)slave or is forced to do horrible shit and just general dead dove behavior. the fact that the author used INGAME LORE, CANON BACKSTORY FOR THE CHARACTER proves how braindead so many people are.

like people try to free slaves/captors in media isnt a new thing. theres a lot of art of that angelhusk ship where one gambles for the others freedom (never watched it but its an example)

I'll say it again, wanting to give slave aventurine or someone a better life DOESN'T mean they have "white-knight syndrome" when they have good intentions!!! We were all were crying for him and his tragic past, we all wanted to comfort him, and we at some point also wished for his salvation and the betterment of his life. These people need to stop throwing these "white-knight syndrome" accusations cuz it's definitely not about that. And like you said, it was his IN-GAME LORE. I already expected some authors to write about reader saving him from his slavery and there's nothing wrong with that! Cuz please, don't tell me you won't help the guy out of his abusive owner, let's be fr here.

Like you also said, many have been writing yandere/heavy dark themes about reader being literally SA'd and R'd by said character (do not tell me you guys haven't read all those fics where Aven was our debt collector and in paying our debt, he noncon or manipulated us into sleeping with him 💀) and now they wanna talk about morals?

And please, don't even try bringing up Romania or irl people in here. IT'S A FICTIONAL RACE IN A FICTIONAL STORY. it may be "inspired" like they said, but it's not directly addressing Romania!!

I get their point alright, I truly do. Like I said in my other post, I do not condone the sex slave! aus about aventurine and the master/slave bdsm cuz his story truly hurt me and I'm uncomfortable sexualizing his slavery when I know about his story and what happened to him as a slave. But I won't go as far as to actually send death threats to those authors and act like a hypocrite💀 people can write what they want to write and I don't have to read those writings if I don't wanna.

Just to say, I'm a yandere/dark-content enjoyer as well, it's just that I draw the line when it comes to aventurine cuz I just wanna cuddle and dote on that man and give him all the love and affection in the world. but like I said, am no hypocrite as well. It's just funny and baffling how people are like "eww this person wrote a fic about reader buying slave aventurine so they can be a good owner to him".... this is leaving me speechless how they turned an act with good intentions into something malicious... that poor author doesn't even have bad intentions when writing that fic.

When you apply their logic, it's like saying "this person adopted an abused child so that they can be a good parent to that child, disgusting" do they even realize how stupid they sound??? 😭

“Dean was soo gay/bi because his siren is a man!”

This argument is the absolute perfect example of why hellers don’t understand the show, and it highlights the process they use to consume SPN and try to prove bi Dean/Destiel.

In the show: Dean has a male siren.

Hellers think: “Dean has a male siren! Oh! Dean loves boys! Tee hee!”

Hellers ignore: they ignore the fact that the siren explicitly claims to be a stand in for Sam: a little brother who listens to, and looks up to, Dean. This also means that if Dean is attracted to that siren, it doesn’t mean he is attracted to boys. It means he is attracted to Sam (even SPN is not trying to explicitly make that point).

In the show: The siren says that what Dean needs is not “some bitch in a g-string.”

Hellers think: "Dean has a boy siren because he thinks girls are icky! He’s my little gay/bi meow meow!”

Hellers ignore: We have seen Dean hook up with women all the time. Being both attractive and charming, Dean can “score” a very attractive woman just be being himself. He doesn’t need the siren to be a hot girl because he sleeps with hot girls all the time.

The siren being a male and a stand in for Sam is somewhat unhinged for sure, and people can read more into it than what is explicitly shown in the episode. But, based on the text (with the siren), there is no supported interpretation that Dean is just attracted to guys in general. He is having problems with his brother, and what he needs is a brother he feels close to. That’s it. That’s the message. You could maybe argue that Dean is somewhat Aromatic from this episode.

The heller process: What hellers do is watch a scene, hyper-fixate on one moment/line/image that they think proves the point they are trying to prove (Destiel/bi Dean) and ignore everything else. They ignore the greater context of the show; in this case, Dean not needing a siren to be a pretty girl both because he can hook up with them himself (we see this for ourselves over the years: context) and because he values familial relationships, specifically with Sam, more than romantic ones (we know this both from context and from what is actually said). They ignore explicit show explanations (what the siren actually says). And they view everything through their lens, or shipping goggles, so it naturally skews everything they watch from the start.

In other words. The show they watch is a highly coloured snd edited version that looks very little like the actual show.

13. What's a character/ship you haven't written/drawn yet but would like to some day?

TANNIS she's one of my absolute favorites in the series but I'm having a hard time coming up with things to draw for her 😔 mainly bc I don't ship her with anyone (yet at least) cause like 80% of what I draw is ship art. Other than her I would also like to draw Zane, Steele, Clay, Angel // Jathena, Clane, Athena/Fiona, Zane/Rhys and Sasha/August

22. Give us headcanons for Rhys

Rhys can't swim cause aside from living in space for a good chunk of his life, his cybernetics also aren't fully waterproof

The Jack hero worship started when he evacuated everyone on helios after dahl invaded, including Rhys

7+ years later, Rhys sometimes still hallucinates Jack and when he gets self-depricating thoughts he hears them in Jack's voice

He gets unbearably lonely a lot after leaving for Promethea and in some ways he was thankful when Katagawa started bugging him cause it distracted him from his loneliness, at least until it entered stalking territory

On what little free time Rhys has after becoming CEO, he nerds out by tinkering with robots and other gadgets, whether it be adding silly upgrades like disco lights or in hopes of having a eureka moment with atlas' designs
